Allow sms through email account, help requested! - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hello everyone,
i have a serious problem. Through my company exchange outlook account (OWA) i can send email that at the end will be delivered as sms. I have just to insert into "to" field the following "address": [sms:+44123456789]. Unfortunately i think there is a control on the email address format because it says it can not send sms through the email program (you can try from your diamond). How may I solve it? i found a possible solution, modify
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Inbox\Settings]
"AllowSMStoSMTPConcatenation"=dword:00000001
"AllowSMStoSMTPAddress"=dword:00000001
but i cound't find a registry editor that saves the settings! i tried phm registry editor, resco registry and other desktop one. I can change the keys but they are not mantain the setting after the reboot. With the desktop registry i received an access denied when i try to save... in which am i wrong?? thanks

search google for "flushing registry ppc" or smth similar. certain parts of registry are locked from modification.

I'd stick with PHMregedit myself....never had any problem with it.
Two more things to add to the above post...
1. Soft-reset or power-off/on your device before doing the change (so there's nothing else - like the SMS program - running). It may be that you're doing the change when the TMAIL.exe program is in memory and it overwrites your changes?
2. Make the registry change and (depending on your device type) hold the power on/off button until it asks you if you want to power off. Doing it this way tends to flush everything - registry included - properly before it shuts down.
Hope that helps,
Mark.

thanks for the response...
i have tried every hacking app i can find but i am stuck...
i've tried to hack the reg but can't make it work...
my dilemma is that i have to use goodlink email for work, but goodlink installs its own "goodlink contacts" and then takes over the contact button/softkey... i hate using goodlink contacts and want to go back to using the default outlook contacts... the goodlink developer is rude and ignorant, they will not help me around using there contacts...
i can still get to outlook contacts via start menu on today screen but i want my button back... even tweaks2k2 won't work as it wants to be directed to a .dll or .exe and can't work from the .lnk shortcut...
please help
thanks
Sorry, I don't seem to have a virgin registry:
Looking at a registry backup, these are the only entries:
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112]
"Open"="\\windows\\calendar.lnk"
@="Agenda"
However, looking at the emulator, there are no entries at all for keys, so make a backup and delete the whole subkey to see if it resorts to default. Otherwise, just set up your own entries to whatever you want using the above format.
V
those are for calendar... do you have the reg keys for contacts?
GoodLink
brunoflipper - agree with you regarding Goodlink rep - I too am using it. Think I may remove it. A reg hack be great to remap the keys.
Search around for "SoftKeyApplet" on this forum. It's a .cpl file you have to put in \Windows.
After that go the Control Panel --> System, press softkey and here you go....assign the apps you wanted to your softkey(s)!

Chg default soft button in messaging

I tried to search but could not find if there is a way to change the default assignment of the left soft button in messaging from Delete back to New like it was in WM5?
Thanks and sorry if this was already covered somewhere,
Daniel
I need that 2
I've been like crazy looking for that tweak/hack... if anyone know how to change it please post it here...
Seriously.. Why does MS keep removing some nice functions on their updates? Is it because they don't use it so we shouldnt?
I have been searching all over for this too. 4 years using Windows Mobile now they go an make a one-click into three click.
See this link which describes the issue clearly.
http://www.pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=news&id=4216
It must be a registry hack of some sort but where to start looking. I am going to try and look through the registry and see if I can find anything. This to me is the single and only bad change for Windows Mobile 6, the rest rocks.
I found a nice working solution to this at this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1524656#post1524656
Open notes and paste the following into a blank note:
20#"\Windows\tmail.exe" -service "SMS" -to "" -body ""
save this as sms.lnk in the Windows\StartMenu\ folder.
(Use Resco Explorer to make sure the file is named sms.lnk and not sms.lnk.pwi)
Go to Start > Programs and you will see an icon called SMS. Clicking it opens a blank SMS message.
Then download the Soft Button Applet from this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=39657&d=1179943759
Install it, soft-reset your device and then go into Start > Settings > System > Soft Key
On Left Key choose SMS (and set Right key to whatever you want)
Now you can simply click your left soft button on the today screen to open a blank SMS.
This DOES NOT fix the problem of the delete soft button assignment in Messaging under WM6 but it does give you a one click way of opening a blank SMS. Works for me and I am happy to stop searching for a solution to this delete button issues.
Hope this helps someone.
I actually prefer a delete button to new. If I am going to write a new SMS it is going to be from a contact and not from the messaging app.

SMS sent confirmation

One thing I miss about my old phone is the "sms sent" confirmation I used to get after sending a message. (also with a little animation).
It's really annoying to have to go round the houses to get to the sent folder to see if a message has been sent or not.
I had a whole day with a load of messages unknowingly sat in the outbox thinking they'd been sent which really annoyed me. It was only after I checked at the end of the day I found out they hadn't
Does such a thing exist for the diamond or is it too dependant on windows mobile.
Also still have not found a decent lock program that locks EVERY button (including the power) and stops me answering calls getting my phone out my pocket and the sleeve. Tied s2u2 and touchlockpro but they are still unreliable
What was wrong with "menu - star" like on the nokias. - Worked a treat !!!
Any help would be appreciated

Alright mate.
Can't help with the locking problem, but here's what you need to do to get notification of SMS sent...
Go to the "messages" tab in TouchFlo and click "all messages". Then click "menu", "tools" and "options". Click "* SMS\MMS" and make sure "Request delivery notifications" is checked.
I don't use this myself, but I just tested it and it works for me.
Hope this helps you out.
John.
I use the following tip:
Use any Registry Editor, such as freeware CeRegEditor or PHM Registry Editor, and navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\
If “Settings” branch does not exist, create a New Key with name as Settings. Then highlight Settings, and then create a new String Value key with value name as SMSNoSentMsg, with its value data as 1.

... you're nearly right. You need to set the value to '0' if you wish to receive a notification that the SMS has been sent. If you set it to '1', you will not receive the notification (this is the default).
Nice one thanks guys. Went for the reg edit as didn't fancy getting a text back from operator every time I send one.
Just for the record yes the value of "SMSNoSentMsg" needs to be 0.
Again cheers for your help
Resurrecting this thread
I discovered this one earlier today, so far I'm liking it.
SMS Retry Notification
Enables/Disables a notification when an SMS message failed to be delivered. The phone will display a Popup displaying a summary of the message, to whom it was sent and when, and ask if you would like to try again.
[HKCU\ControlPanel\PhoneExtendFunction\CDMA] change PhoneExt_SmsRetry
0 - Disable (Default)
1 - Enable
My phone is a Sprint CDMA phone (hence the registry address) but hopefully it's not a Sprint setting and other CDMA phones and maybe GSM phones have a similar location.

Sweet. I also like the original setting in this thread. I like to know when my text is sent. I don't use text that ofte, s this is not an inconvenience to me.

message2reg

I've been digging around and trying numerous examples of the message2reg.exe utility. I've found examples from ThrottleLauncher, BatteryStatus, WAD... they all seem to include the same set of files and mortscripts. It seems like the shortcuts included should cause the message2reg.exe to run and put data into the registry at ...
SMS_text = RegRead("HKLM","Software\ThrottleLauncher\Messaging\SMS","Subject")
I have all the files in \Program Files\Message2Reg\
The mortscript writes then deletes temporary registry entries in noted location above. Then it does....
RunWait("\Program Files\Message2Reg\Message2Reg.exe","SMS Refresh")
This should put the data into registry but nothing ever shows.
Also tried ...
RunWait("\Program Files\Message2Reg\Message2Reg.exe","Text Messages Refresh")
because "Text Messages" is what shows in my Messaging application (not SMS).
Eventually I want to use mortscript to get weather from google via SMS, then use message2reg to parse the SMS.
Any tips?

..why don't u use regwritestring of mortscript instead of message2reg?
Let mortscript itself write the datas into registry.
How does mortscript know what to write into registry? The whole point of message2reg is to read the SMS text "behind the scenes" and put in the registry for programs like mortscript / rlotday / throttlelauncher to access. I haven't used MortScript to switch windows, copy text from window, etc.... That seems really messy and error prone, plus there are a lot of messages to repeat through.
Or can MortScript read directly from the WM messaging program now in a new version or something?
...hm I don't really know what message2reg exactly does. But mortscript is not able to communicate with the wm messaging interface.
How does message2reg know what to write in the registry? Sorry, but as i mentioned before I don't know message2reg.
But have a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=479076&page=3
You are not alone :-(
Well, I haven't gotten it working yet... My impression is that it writes numerous entries into the mentioned registry key (entries for subject, sender, date, body) for the most recent message in the Messaging "folder". You tell message2reg which folder to read from as a command line parameter as well as Refresh...
RunWait("\Program Files\Message2Reg\Message2Reg.exe","SMS Refresh")
RunWait("\Program Files\Message2Reg\Message2Reg.exe","Text Messages Refresh")
If you want to see the information for the next oldest message, your execute message2reg again with the "Next" parameter, and then the existing registries entries are over-written with the 2nd SMS message...
RunWait("\Program Files\Message2Reg\Message2Reg.exe","SMS Next")

That is one of the many I read through Some people have it working so there must be some trick or missing parameter or something
Anyone get this working? Is it OS issue (WM5)?
I used it successfully in my Multiplugin:

You can see the commands I used inside.

you're wrong with parameters of message2reg
they are : Next , Previous , Refresh , Reply , Details or Detail (don't remember)
Hi,
I was wondering if Message2Reg was able to get email body and/or message dates.
I successfully configured it to work with SMS and ActiveSync email but I cannot find the informations above. Any advise ?
Thank you !
This is the only info I found on this matter:
Message2Reg. Save to registry the message from the account with the number specified (to HKLM/ThrottleLauncher/Messaging/#AccountName#). Params: "account name [SMS/ActiveSync/...]" "Action [Next/Previous/Refresh/Details/Reply/Exit]". This little app is based on the MAPI api suplied here: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/mobile/PocketPCandSmartphone.aspx. If you want the sourcode of Message2Reg send me a mail and I'll send it in cumpliment of the BSD license.

damn i've really lost my mind trying to get this thing to work, seems like it does not want to wok on my device........somebody please help
i am lost at how your trying to run it.
all it does is write to the registry, you then need something to show the new reg keys.
example WAD can show REG text.

HELP!!! - Need ActiveSync Registry Key

So I screwed up big time and deleted my ActiveSync registry key (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\ActiveSync) it was to get rid of the useless Outlook account but needless to say in doing so I lost text notifications so I need to import the ActiveSync registry key but the one that I exported with PHM prompts an error message when I try to import it with Resco.
Could someone please upload or email me this .reg file?
email = user name at gmail
OR - if someone wants to type the string values that would be awesome too! Thanks in advance!
Nevermind...
So as I was waiting for a response.. I just made a new registry key called Activesync and put it in the SVC folder and made some strings (DLL, Name, Port) all of which have no values & now outlook is back...(except its called "Activesync") and so are my text notifications!! I dont know how this worked but it did... weeeeird... thanks anyway!
