Anyone having an issue with VZ Navigator restarting on its own? About 10-20 minutes after I exit the navigator and end the program in program manager the VZ Nav. restarts itself and attempts to establish a data connection. I am running the MR1 update and HTC home along with nueled and thats about it. Anyone having same issue or a way to fix it?
I have yet to have this issue. Mine running almost flawlessly.

I recently upgraded my Google Mpas (I was prompted inside Google Maps) and now it doesn't seem to work as well as it used to.
I am using the DCD 2.2.0 ROM for my Titan.
What happens is now it will say "seeking satellites (0)" and "GPS Active (0)" and not find any satellites. Usually it shows me as in the middle of the ocean some where. Sometimes it will flash between "GPS Active (5)" and "GPS Active (0)", but still won't work. Like I said, it was fine before I upgraded Google Maps (about 2 weeks ago). Anyone have any ideas what's causing this?
Just did the google map update today and seems to work fine.. Took a long time to get a lock but once it did it was right on.
I am using verizon and DCD 3.04...
I just upgraded to that Rom my self on my Telus P4000 , did you remember to put the GPS Hardware on Com5? cus i know mine turned itself off once i just set it back to Com5 and it worked perfectly again, and that problem never happen again...
Hopfuly this helps, if not, im sorry, i tried lol ^_~.V cheers

mine did same thing - a soft-reset fixed all the issues, google now works great
I had issues with this as well. I went and set the location setting to off (911 only) then clicked ok. And then I went back in and turned location settings back on and it started working again.
make sure location settings are ON. also, try a few COM ports, 4 and 5 work for me, but 3 is by far the best port on my phone.
From what is posted on this site...Gps is supposed to be set at com 4 at 4800....Gps works will alot better if "primed" with other software before starting map applications...such software is gpsviewer , wififofum , visualgpsce (my recommedation)

Agreed, check location setting
Start->Settings->Phone->Services Tab->Location Settings. Turn to "on" That's what happened on my titan when I upgraded. Took me 2 hours to figure it out.

Try using GPS Viewer
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1520319
and make sure you're actually receiving proper GPS signals.
GPS works on alltell
I have rom 3.35 and radio 3.37.20 on a alltel phone and installed gpstoday and then google maps. Gps started working just fine. However to get google maps to work properly leave gpstoday turned OFF open google maps and select use gps and it will then work. If i have gps turned on then open googlemaps it will not run .
on my sprint titan i had to use the 2.03 PRI update cab, some people only need to run the PPST.EXE file in the mobile windows directory to do the update after a flash, Get the latest PRL for your carrier here, then do a ##PRL# update (you'll need your MSL code). i went from no sat's to near instant lock of 5 in GPSviewer using the HTC Quickgps update. check your PRI version in SETTINGS/SYSTEM/DEVICE INFORMATION menu. even though i have roaming disabled it seemed to help and worth a try.
I'm running the stock Verizon 6.1 MR1 update with the GPS fix from here. The following GPS programs are loaded:
Fransons GPS Gate 2.6 - using the WM GPS setting to get Iguidance to work
IGuidance 4.0.2
Micosoft Live Search
Google Maps
Everything was working fine last night but this morning Live Search won't find any signals (even though I'm outside with a clear sky). Google Maps doesn't find any satellites. IGuidance satellite indicators aren't working and Franson shows a yellow icon saying "GPS data but no position" - Running OK!
Would someone please let me know if they have the MR1 update with the GPS fix from here and is getting Live Search information today. I'd like to see if Verizon has somehow "screwed" the data signal so this fix no longer works.
Thanks!
Did you try to do a soft reset on the phone? If they are blocking anything it would be the aGPS but not sure how they would single you out. Mine is still working and I am on DCD 3.2.6 with Radio ROM 3.42.50 and my GPS app is getting the aGPS info and then locking indoors.
i think that a soft reset is the GPS best friend
mine always works right off the soft reset
Yep - tried soft-resetting the phone about 7-8 times over various time of the day and still no dice.
I'm going to pair it up it back up with my I-Trek M5+ receiver when I get home and see if get locks on those programs.
Thanks!

just tried it here in NJ and it is working just fine
You might need to change the aGPS mode back to 2 in the registry. After upgrading to the latest PRI and all the GC aGPS stuff, I wasn't getting a fix in doors as I was. So some other post said that they changed that registry setting to 2 and that just worked for me.
GPS stopped working
Verizon must have figured out a way to block the aGPS. I have two XV6800's and both are out of commision. Worked last night, but not this "mourning". I even tried to install the "uninstall" cab by GC, but it would not install. Any ideas?
I have an xv6800 in NY and I just now got a GPS lock using Live Search inside my apartment. Seems to still be working here.
O.K. It's back up now. Verizon might have had an issue in certain areas today. I'm in Ohio and didn't have GPS all day. Now it is back up and running on both phones. Phew.
Sorry, didn't get a chance to post yesterday.
Mine came back up at about 2:15 pm yesterday in Northern Va and it's been fine since.
Probably some hiccup in the network or atmosphere conditions (sunspot activity etc).
Thanks for help everyone!
I had the same problem this weekend. My GPS (google maps) died on me. This was while travelling across Kentucky and Indiana. I tried a softreset a few times. Reinstalled Google Maps. Nothing. Monday, it started working again.
I'm beginning to think that Verizon has some issues with their aGPS servers. I'm constantly having issues here in central New York with not being able to get a gps lock.
Working great for me. I have yet to have a problem or not get connected within seconds.
how do you get the agps addresses and still have DCD roms? is there a seperate cap file for the Agps servers?
I hope that someone might be able to give me a suggestion. I am having a very odd problem with my GPS. I have the same issue with google maps, tomtom7, and garmin apps.
I can not get a gps lock, and garmin and tomtom show no gps device. If I do a soft reset the unit will get a lock on 7+ sat in under a min. Then about 1 min later I loose all connection and the apps are again no longer able to talk to the gps. I can reset the unit and the whole process will repeat.
It is almost like the gps is going into a power save mode.
I know that tomtom has to have the gps primed, but garmin and google maps have always worked well for me in the past.
I am using the standard com port 4/4800 with win set to handle gps connections.
I am hoping that someone might know a fix. My next step is to do a hard reset, but I don't really want to do that after getting my phone the way I like it.
Help please
I am having the same GPS issue with the Sprint Treo Pro starting about 3-4 days ago. Only difference is I cannot maintain a signal with even 1 program for longer than a minute. Hard resetting and only using the stock Sprint GPS programs - MS Live and Sprint Navigator does not fix it - problems the same.
I think I have fixed the issue thanks to these threads:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=92926
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=93131
Seems this issue is not limited to the Treo Pro. Here is what worked for me. I downloaded the xtra.bin file from this thread http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=92926&page=6 (post 59) and the program FileDate.exe from this thread http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=93131&page=10 (post 92). I extracted the xtra.bin file to my desktop and changed the created, modified, and accessed dates to today using Filedate.exe. I then backed up the xtra.bin file from My Device\Windows just in case I needed it to some other folder on my laptop. I then copied the modified xtra.bin file from my desktop to My Device\Windows and My Device\Temp folders. Then I started QuickGPS and went to Menu\Options and unchecked all boxes and then soft reset. Since then, even after several soft resets, I have been able to use GPS in ALL my GPS enabled software including:
Google Maps
Bing
BackCountry Navigator
Garmin Mobile XT
GPS Tuner
iGO 8
Delorme Street Atlas Handheld 2009
TomTom 7
TrackyPro
Sprint Navigation
Hope this works for others also.
hello,
i have a dutch galaxy s4 9505 which i have used with joy for over one year.
only consistent problem is with tomtom use.
after one hour of using it, it will lose the gps fix and it will not come back until i restart the gps service and/or tomtom.
when trying to continue with google maps, also no gps fix is found.
the surroundings are always different, open air so reception should be good.
im still running android 4.3, disabling the software update service for the 442 update (im happy with using the application permission manager and do not want to re-install my tomtom.)
what could cause my gps fix to be lost after one hour?
