Well nothing very obvious. It's just a switch. Of course being internal the magnet idea works well. If you wanted to be very crude I guess you could fit a micro switch somewhere.
Why not hunt down some of the screen orientation software programmes?
Don't think you said what country you are in, but maybe someone here has a spare part or a part for sale they could send you. I have seen a few posts with folk parting out broken Hermes.

I found in one store "Hall magnetic sensor".....does he will be work with my phone?

Hi All,
I put this question on MODACO (the place of how to take the JamIn apart!) for a week but got no reply - so I hope someone here can help me!
http://www.modaco.com/USB-damaged-t255421.html
I had the famous earphone-spring switch stuck & my phone always tried to use the earphone.
Thanks to the wonderful tutorial from Iain, I managed to open the case & fix problem.
Unfortunatly, something went wrong while using the hot air iron - Now I've no USB connectivity!! - It's charging but no AS connectivity!
I want to check a component placement.
there is a place for a diode near the USB socket on the PCB - there's no diode on my phone only a silk screen label indicating that a diode should be there - and I think that the hot air iron blow the diode away.
Would anyone please check his phone - post a photo of the PCB on both sides of the USB connection or send a schematic or a circuit diagram for the prophet.
Unfortunatly I don't have a digital camera other than the one on the phone
Thanks for yor help

Hi all,
Any help?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Hey guys,
I had recently taken my 8525 / hermes apart to fix the white screen problem.
As I had fixed the problem, the magnet that triggers landscape mode, had came unglued from wherever it was.
I had contacted HTC and tech support, but they are unable to tell me where this small rectangular magnet goes.
Does anyone have a clue or a parts repair Hermes / 8525 that they can help me with.
I need to get this fixed.
I appreciate anyones help.
Just getting a couple of pics for you please wait
Mike
Landscape magnet
You are a lifesaver.
I really appreciate it.
just wondering, how did you solve the white screen problem?
i had it months ago but i got a replacement under warranty...luckily
Landscape magnet
The problem occurs when the ribbon cable becomes loose.
All you have to do is take the unit apart and reseat the cable.
I've taken mine apart soo many times lately, its and easy process if it happens again.

Hi,
I'd like to share with you that I am using a Crumpler case for my HTC TyTN II. The case I am using is called The p.p. 55. It fits the phone perfectly and is great for taking in and out of pockets. The only disadvantage is that it zips all the way round so is not particularly wired headphones friendly as you have to leave it unzipped at the bottom but overall I am very happy with it as a phone case.
Cheers,
andrew-in-woking
Got a link ?
I dont want my loose in my pocket, but the standard case that came in the box is way too bulky for when wearing jeans.
the att tilt (us version) doesn't come with a case. andrew, do u mind taking pics and posting them? i used to have the seido case which is awesome! i have the invsishield but haven't installed it yet.
With a quick google search I found it on amazon here.
Doesn't look too bad, with a variety of colours.
This was the original one that came with the phone:

The massive problem was the un-removable clip on the back. I say un-removable, but it can be removed, though it would have to be permanently by clipping it off.
Well my HD2 is now a paper weight not due to a bad flash, but because the touch screen no longer work.
The screen is cracked and a piece of it is missing, I'm not sure if i should order lcd screen, digitizer, or both. I attach a picture of the crack in hoping someone with some knowledge can help me out.
Also does anyone know of a place in Long Beach, CA area that can provide screen/digitizer replacement service at a fairly reasonable price.

$89 screen repair
Saw this on ebay might be worth checking out. http://cgi.ebay.com/HTC-HD-2-Broken...0576654092?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item2a0b35130c
Don't know anything about the place just thought I would pass the info.
thanks for the info. I'm going to try to find a local dealer first before i start shipping things out.
That looks like a digitizer problem, does the lcd screen turn on at all?
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
everything works except for the touch part.
Hi,
I'm thinking of removing the Camera unit from my phone as camera mobiles are not allowed in my office.

http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Samsung-Galaxy-S-I-9000-Teardown/7122/1
http://www.ebay.in/itm/Opening-tool...4?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item416585c42c
Based on this, I'm confident that I can remove the camera from the mobile. But after removing the entire chip, will the phone have any trouble in booting?
I mean, while the phone is booting, will it be looking for camera unit and will fail in booting if there aren't any camera units found? I know this doesn't make any sense, but still I don't want to take any chance....
XDAians please shed some light on this topic! Also if you have any tips on removing camera, please share your information.
Thanks
Removing the camera is very easy if you know how to take the phone apart (don't break the tabs on the chrome trim).
And the phone will boot just fine.
This is my first time removing the panel. Hope it is as easy as you say.
And I'll look out for that tabs on the chrome trim.
i have changed the Mainboard a few weeks ago.
The hardest work was to split the cover.
Here the guy use a tool

i suggest to use your fingernails.
Second, there is a small white cable between mainboard and the board in the bottom.
Don't crush it, when you reassemble the phone.
