Hi all,
Just a quick (and probably stupid) question. I have the O2 mini and find the loudspeaker rather poor. When using the GPS it is often hard to hear the instructions. Is it possible to send the audio to a bluetooth headset, or even a bluetooth car kit.
I am new to all this so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Adam
Adam,
if you are connecting the GPS via BT, it is not possible in the first place to connect a second device in parallel. Unfortunately you can have just one BT connection at a time.
Even with a cable connected GPS it won't work, because it is not possible to use the BT handset as a audio device.
So, no, what you are trying to do is most probable not possible. I am doing it like that, that I use a BT GPS receiver and a cable headset if I do not understand the voices correctly. This way, you get the instructions and you can even make a call without using the loudspeaker.

Thanks for the advice marco. Much appreciated. Will just have to stick with the cable headset.
Bluetooth and GPS and Headset can work
Have to disagree with Marco99. I use a Navman 4420 Bluetooth GPS unit and an O2 Bluetooth headset with my I-mate PDA2K (1.40 ROM 1.12 Radio). I use Destinator Software (The Navman SmartST is better at finding the optimum route, but it is buggy and always seems to need upgrading to use the latest ROM).
Anyway, I frequently have both devices paired.
Last weekend coming back from SA to Vic I had the Destinator humming along, and a phone call comes in. The phone screen pops up and I answer the phone using the headset button. I minimise the phone screen, and the Destinator screen re-emerges, still tracking nicely along the Glenelg Highway. You lose the Destinator voice prompts during the phone call, but not the GPS signals, nor the visual prompts.
After hanging up, again using the headset button, the Destinator voice prompts start again and away you go.
I have the HQ audio patch and a HP BT Headset. I must try that sometime with the Destinator. However, I do agree that you can't listen to the navigation software through the headset and answer the phone, only one audio connection can be made via Bluetooth.
Now, if they can fix the "Line of Sight only" B/T headset bug...
Can do BT GPS + Headset at the same time
Just to confirm, I have had my Tomtom v5 Bluetooth GPS & my cheap-n-cheerful "Abe" Bluetooth headset working concurrently. Tomtom mutes when the phone receives/makes a call, but otherwise all is working together 100%, you can make & receive phone calls OK.
Can also confirm this works with non-Tomtom BT GPS (Globalsat model).

I have to agree with camstech! I was not aware that this really is working, did not believe it and just tried it. And it works exactly as described. So, one new thing learned. As the protocol does not explain the behavior, it looks like the (otherwise crappy) bluetooth stack is quite inteligent here, and switches between different devices, so it looks both work in parallel. So, during my next roadtrip I can bring along my BT headset!
Anyway, unfortunately that does not solve your problem, Adam, as it is not possible to redirect the Navigation voice to your bluetooth headset, as long as the device (BT stack) does not support the appropriate BT profile.
regards
marco
EDIT: just checked the wikipedia entry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth. I must have dreamt about the single point connection with BT. Looks like a BT net (called piconet) can contain up to 8 devices, where one is working as master with up to 7 slaves. The details can be found in wikipedia. Maybe there is just connection per profile but I dont know for sure. Maybe there is a bluetooth expert here in the forum that could enlighten us. And possibly maybe, this is way to technical and all of you guys fall asleep during the first pragraph of my posting anyway ...
hi, finally there is software to enable the audio out from ms stack to bluetooth headset. but i tried on xdaii wm5 still cannot. can anybody especially buzz fix this? Get the software from below link.
http://www.beyondthetech.com/blogs/kjam/
audio out to headset
BTAudio Utilities
These utilities will allow you to turn on/off the redirection of all system audio audio to your Bluetooth Headset.
This requires NO other hacks or modifications to your i730.
The attached ZIP file contains 3 files:
BTAudioOn.exe
BTAudioOff.exe
BTAudioToggle.exe
DONATIONS
If you find these programs useful and would like to send me money, you can donate via PayPal here.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Unzip and place these files on your i730.
- To redirect all sound to your BT headset, run BTAudioOn.exe
- To stop redirecting sound, run BTAudioOff.exe.
- To toggle the redirection on and off, run BTAudioToggle.exe.
- The effects are immediate and the program will not display anything unless there is an error.
NOTES:
BTAudioToggle.exe does not authoritatively know what the current state of audio redirection is, it simply turns the redirection on or off, alternating each time it is run. It uses a temp file, \BTAudio.tmp, to track whether it should next turn on or off. Thanks to johntchow for the icon.
The /v command-line argument will display a sucess message. Failure messages are always shown. Also, if you know how to set up a shortcut, you technically don't need both .exe's. You can run BTAudioOn.exe with the /off argument and it will do the same thing as BTAudioOff. But since each file is less than 4k, which I think is the block size for the RAM file system, it would not actually save any space so what's the point.
This was made possible mostly due to the information at http://blogs.msdn.com/cenet/archive.../12/451012.aspx
Note; Buzz or any expert out there. Please make this utility work with xdaii wm2005c. Please.....Buzz?
It works great on my K-Jam. Too bad it is only mono. But still better than nothing!
Wouter
ya. u r luckey fren. working on your k-jam, right?. but why it didnt work on xda11wm2005c with hs820? the mic got responses from the utility but the sound still havent transfer to the bluetooth headset. Ooooo....someone who know software, please help to make this utility work. Moat of the people without widcom installed already started to enjoy all audio transfer to their headset except xda11. Buzz, are u there?

When i try to turn the audio on it writtes "Failed to enable BT audio".
What have o done worng. I have put the files in Application Data. It is a Qtek 9100
Did you first turn on your bluetooth?
Sometimes this happens to me too but I now only use the BTaudioToggle tool. I made a shortcut on the todayscreen and it works great!
Wouter
Will this transfer the mic too? I would like to use it for my voip program.

I can still use my headset for phonecalls but I don't know if it will work with a computer and VOIP. Haven't tried that one yet!

Doesn't work on i-mate jam though
Hey, guys. Found out this great featured hack and still haven't been able to toggle ALL audio out of bluetooth headset on my i-mate jam. Doesn't work! I can only redirect audio from GSM source to headset and back, but can't redirect music from audio players.... seems to be the problem of JAM bt stack...
Who has the same problem please respond
audio out to headset
Hey,
I've tryed the BTAudiotoggle.exe on my Xda Exec what happens is this:
It launches the voice command if I tap the screen the sound goes through the bluetooth headset but the it return back to the PDA.
Is the anyway that I can get the Audio going through the headset for as long that I need it then when I do not need it I can switch it manually back to the PDA.
Please can someone help me because I would like to try the Tom Tom Navigator 5 and see if I can get the sound through the bluetooth car kit which is a Parrot 3300.
Thank you.

Cheers
ANy one tried this on an MDA compact UK, or MDA PRO UK
I sure hope T-mobile relase a new ROM with A2DP , streaming support now MS have officially improved their own stack.

I've managed to do it by using the information that can be found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33756. If you set the registry value then the files work a treat (but are a bit redundant because you can switch the audio to/from headset using the button on it).
Cheers,
Steve.
have you guys tried VJVolubilis? It should work in the same manner.

Hi Guys!

Hi,
I tried and first thing, everything work now as fine as before so a first good point.
Second one problem : my Bluespoon AX is only recognize as a Hands-free and you can only set "Audio redirection" for Headset.
Perhaps some registry work ?
I will continue to investigate
very nice patch indeed..
installed it on my JAM... an it runs OK...
some extinsive testing is required however... I'll let you know later
Thank you kevinyang6688
If this works, you'll be the best
Works here aswell!

INstalled it but I have no clue how to make it work. Been to the BT settings and everything is there but I have no clue to as it does not detect my my Jabra BT250V.
Will this work in actually turning my Jabra into an audio headset or is it only as phone headset?
Does this help at all with the Nokia car kit echo issue?
Cheers
i'm using O2 mini. After installed... Nothing shown in the "Default headset" drop-down-list-box of the Audio tab

Man, you seriously kick a$$! This cab adds A2DP, FTP (successfully sent a series of 3 files to my Magician   ), Audio Gateway (was able to use my laptop as a BT handsfree ), BT Printing Profile... AWESOME!!! Takes MS BT stack to a whole new level
But you could already send files with activesync over bluetooth without this stack (do i suppose ftp service is the same thing). Btw can you acces the files located on your computer from your mini now??? (if yes plz tell me how)
As far as I am concerned, it works but doesn t change anything with my bluetooth headset and voice command, i always don t hear any voice command sound in my bt headset, but then I hear the phone conversation directly in the headset...so nothing has changed.
Would have loved so much to hear and launch voice commands directly from the headset's mic.
But thx anyway! that s a really good thing for us anyway =)
It does work with I-tech S35 Stereo BT Headset
As per subject really...
Just tested this on my 1.12.00 T-Mobile Rom and indeed all audio is indeed being re-directed to my headset. Only 'drawback' is that I can't get it to work with PocketMind Pocket Music- the sound it just muted.
But it works perfectly well with Windows Media Player. Slight hitch with WMP is that I am unable to change the volume on the software or indeed the JAM system volume directly- a minor fault for me since I have a volume control my headset Also the music seems to cut out for a second or so every 7-8 seconds.
Music pauses and restarts when an incoming phone call is received.
A massive thanks goes out kevinyang6688. Cheers mate, I have been wanting this for ages! Thanks again!

Come on guys....
does that mean no one using this automatic pairing ?
'm still being postive on this thread
Cheers
I would be amazed if it was true, it would be a huge bluetooth security hole if it was !!! if you can force a headset to pair with out authentication you can force anything to pair !!! are you sure you understood correctly
Don't you mean that the sound was automatically sent to the headset when a call comes in? Automatic pairing is something I have never heard of. I guess the guy paired his headset, so that when a call comes in, he hears it autmatically in his headset. Sounds more logical and feasible to me.
Why would you want to pair automatically anyway? Just pair it in the morning when you wake up, and use it all day till you switch it off. Only thing I can imagine would be battery save, but that would mean that an incoming call would have to activate both the BT on your phone and on your headset. And that is not possible, since without BT connection ( paired) no signals from the phone come to the headset.
ice_coffee -- Though I didn't see the subtle details of the mentioned software i think we'll have to pair with our BT device (proper authentication) which will be saved by the program and these details wud be used as and when incoming call comes ....
Koksie -- ur intuition is correct ....i.e. reason to do this stuff is to save battery.... bluetoooth drains exec very rapidly.....
if none of you all seen that post then i should be dreaming :!:
i'll continue my search and update the thread if i'm successful
Thanks for your inputs guys....
Cheers
Pairing is pairing but turning bluetooth on for an incoming or outgoing call is something else. PockeZenPhone has this option but it doesn't work cause it takes to long to turn on bluetooth and connect the headset before loosing your call.
Oh.. not it make sense. I think what he means is that, you had your headset and phone paired (with code and stuff). However, the headset or phone bluetooth may be off. And once there is a call coming in, it will switch on the headset/bluetooth on phone.

I tried this today on my K-Jam with my Parrot 3100. The only thing it gave me is my battery and signal strenght on the Parrot screen. Is there anything else?
Dead Bluetooth Button
I installed this software, and immediately, the "send" button on my bluetooth headset stopped working (it would accept a call, but won't kick off Voice Command anymore).
Anyone have an idea of what registry setting I can make to repair this?

I see my provider too.
Also works well on my K-Jam & Parrot CK3300 in that it gives signal strength etc.
Has anyone who is using a Parrot CK3*** been able to get their wizard to connect automatically to the Parrot.
Either I have to connect manually or wait to make or receive a call before it connects & gives me the connected display with signal etc?

BT headset can show the Caller ID Name
I tried this BT extension on my Universal and a Bluetooth Headset SE HBH-662 that has a Caller ID screen. With this BT extension, now the BT headset can show the Caller ID Name IF the contact name and number exists in the SIM card.
However, it will not show any caller name if the contact only exists in Outlook Contacts.
My test also shows, the number stored in the SIM card has to be exactly the same with one sent over by the operator, otherwise it will not show the caller name. Ex. if the operator sends over the caller number as 171xxxxxx and the number stored in the SIM is 71xxxxxxxx then it will not work. Same thing if the number stored in the SIM is +171xxxxxxx and the operator sends the number 1713xxxxxx then it wil not work as well.
I kind of like to use the format +171xxxxxxxx as this is the international format.
Anyway, this is great, as most people have been waiting for this function to work out of their caller ID BT headset. Now, if we can find out how to make it work to access the Outlook Contact, then its perfect...
