Games that use GX files in /windows directory. - Wing, P4350 General

As most people know there are ports for games such as quake, doom, their sequels hexen etc. Now most of them use a .gx file within the Windows directory to run something "I wouldnt know what the .gx file does, maybe a loader for textures or sounds?" However, I have a problem.
If I want to have hexen doom and quake on my Herald, but there is only room for one GX file, how can I go about making quake or hexen look for maybe.. a differently named gx file? Or is there an easier way of running multiple games like this?

How can you play avi files (dixv / movies)

Im guessing windows media player will need a driver...
I dont have my activesync working tho so Im just transferring files to my card
Get yourself a copy of TCPMP it's free & does what you ask for. Combine it with PocketDivXEncoder & you can watch (almost) everything on your PPC.
Cheets, M
I cant get them to install right! Is there not just a driver I can save and place somewhere ?
Not that I know of, you can try pocket tv for mpeg files, otherwise try googling for ppc & divx. Maybe something interesting comes up. Btw pocketdivxencoder runs on the pc.
Yeah I convertered the file to a smartphone file (I think) but I couldt get TCPMP to install
Did you go for the correct cab file? There were several versions in the zip. Or did you use the Windows installer? My magician needed something with arm & ce3 I belief, I prefer cab installs.
Hope you get it working cause it's worthwhile.
Im not sure how I can do it with activesync not installing on my computer...
If I get the cab files can I just place them in the program files somewhere ?
Yes just pick the option to download the cab installer. I got the file tcpmp.arm.cabs.0.71.zip from http://corecodec.org/frs/download.php/366/tcpmp.arm.cabs.0.71.zip here.
When you unzip it there are several cab files, pick the one for the wizard & put it on your device, anywhere is ok. then click on the cab from within the wizard's file explorer to install. That should the trick. If the cab doesn't work, pick another one till it works. The cpu & OS version are important in this part.
Cheers, M
Get them into My Documents or onto your SD card using a card reader. Then double click the file in the phone's File Explorer to rrun the CAB installer.
Right one last question and i think im there... when i convert the video do i have a smartphone or a pda? Or some otehr device...
PDA
Ahhhh yey I got it to work! I thought it was just installing a codec to windows media player but its a new program right! Thanks a lot guys (n girls)
Nice to hear & have fun with it. I certainly do ;-) It's a great show off as well.
Yeah! I bet I get it nicked on the bus now!
I managed to travel to Amsterdam, by bus & train, & back watching Kuzco 2. Much more fun than reading work stuff
whats the battery life like when its playing vids? Im going to manchester soon so its a 5 hour coach journey
My magician battery claims about 5hours use, but playing movies I guess it will reduce seriously. Haven't done enough testing with it. Try it by having a movie playing & keep an eye on the battery, a wizard might be better off in this. For serious power: the mugen replacements get good critics, though not very cheap.
I managed a three hour trip today with movie, mp3, e-mail & internet by gprs. So if you've got a small extra mp3 player you must be able to survive the coach trip.
last advice: Experiment with sound settings first, the default were awfull & mono with pocketdivxencoder. No advice for settings as I'm experimenting too ;-)
can it play movies in fullscreen? and can someone post some pics of the wizard playing a movie in fullscreen. tnx!
full-screen
Yes it will do full-screen playback, just like MediaPlayer.
I'd say it yourself the program is free & small. I'm sure you'll be satisfied.
M
can someone post some screenshots of the wizard playing video in fullscreen? btw hows the picture quality of the videos in fullscreen?

SNES games ON WING?(help)

hey i was searching around for any similiar threads but couldnt find anything, i was wondering if its possible to put snes or nes games on my wing
NES emulation
SNES emulation
i got pocket snes but when i go to load rom it says all files but theres nothing there? what am i doing wrong?
wow thanks!!
anyone wanna help me out on this what am i doing wrong?
With PocketSNES, I think you have to place your games in the My Documents folder in your main memory or in a first level folder on your storage card. I hope that helps.

Playing .jar files ??

Does anyone know how to play .jar files on the hermes is there a cab or something ???
Jar files are java midlets. You need to open java and then find the midlet. Realize that many are formatted for specific devices and don't play well on the hermes. One that will play and that you might enjoy is the Opera mini browser. It works great.

[Q] [?] Music Filter

I love this phone and the growing dev support is optimistic, but I know to know:
How would you stop the music player from playing certain audio formats?
My music player reads everything , so when I got Asphalt for my Vibrant, all the .ogg sound files on the game shows up in the music player. Needless to say, I don't want to listen to 100 files of a car driving in my music player.
Create a file named .nomedia in the folder you don't want the media scanner to scan.
And would I have to put all the files from the game into that folder?
Will the game's sound be okay and still read during the game?

Make a file named .nomedia not a folder. Just make that file in the games music folder.
Aw jeez sorry but there's no other way of doing this?
Asphalt alone has 100+ .ogg files...
lets try this again, ill talk slowly
maaaake aaaaa fiiiiile caaaaaaaalled .noooomeeeediiaaaaa(.nomedia) in theeee foldeeeeeer yooooou doooont waaaaant yoooour muuuuusiiiiic plaaaayeeer to plaaaay.
havent tried it but boy talking like this is fun
Seriously? Was that response necessary?
OP, all of the games music should already be in one main folder (more than likely named Asphalt). There may be different subfolders in that main folder (music, engines, tires, etc.). Any folder that contains sounds from the games (or any sound file you don't want the player to play) should get the .nomedia file.
I got it now, I just didn't know that we create a file. Thanks both of you for the help.

Help me find a game like Blow Up, Crush The Castle or iDemolish please

Hello!
Once again trying to find a windows game similar to an android game my wife likes so that she does not ask me to sell the Tilt 2.
Regards
crush the castle exists as a flash game if I remember correctly. If you can go to a site hosting that game and play it in Pocket IE, then you should be able to use a firefox extension to extract the swf file and play it as a standalone on your phone. there is a tutorial on playing flash files from your device somewhere on these forums if you are having problems with it.

Interesting...never heard of this so need to do some more research.
Thanks!
I think this is the thread I was thinking of, though there are some others:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6268322#post6268322
on down in the tread are the specific instructions:
1) you save the .swf file to your phone.
2) you open the folder that contains the swf file with resco file explorer
3) you click continusly in the swf file until the sub menu show in the screen. then choose OPEN--->OPEN WITH
4) then click browse and choose there the program from the folder "program files/adobe/Flashlite/appzone.exe". then you are ready
5) now every swf file that you open in resco explorer will play automatically.

This is, of course, after installing flash lite...
Hope that is helpful if you didn't find it already. I stumbled across it by accident again today while browsing.
