He everybody.
I found a nice NES emlator whis works great on the diamond (and other wm devices). Its simple and fun. I do not take any credits for the emulator.
you can find it hear: http://pocketnes.retrogames.com/
direct link: http://pocketnes.retrogames.com/pocketnes0100.exe
O and you need to find the roms your own way. The bad way
P.S. this is my first thread. So YEAH ME
Wow awesome, I've given it a run through and it performs really well. There is one fatal flaw unfortunately, but this is an issue with WM lacking multi touch... You can't hold down B and press a directional arrow at the same time! So in Mario for example, you can't hold down B to run... You can't jump while you're running e.t.c. I tried remapping the A and B functions to the call end and back key but it refused to recognise the setup. Besides, prolonged pressing of those buttons surely won't do them any good. I wonder if there is a workaround...
if you want NES roms, here they are http://www.romnation.net/srv/roms/nes
cannot set controls to play games..for example POP
Remapping the A and B button to the up and down volume keys works very nice while using the standard harware d-pad =)
/sonny
or the midle and back button like I have. And tnx everybody for your positife commends. and lepermessiah for his nice link. lest al keap this NES on ppc alive!!!!
doesnt work here downloaded several snes roms but none of them starts up..

yes im sorry, i tried several nes roms but it didnt work.. if i start a rom *.nes it pops back and does nothing..
try a diverent one. I got all the nes roms working
Prince of Persia is working great, but it's a pitty that the keyboard shown on screenshots doesn't work (sometimes flashes, but that's all)
I had issues mapping the volume keys. The MDA Compact IV d-pad is very stiff, not much use for directions. I find the lack of multi touch a real killer for this. Would run real nice on a HTC Touch HD if they gave it this extra feature.
But I digress, this is a Diamond forum.

Hi there.
This question may have been asked before, and I used the search function, but didn't find a satisfying answer.
Do you guys know of any (S)NES/gameboy emulator that works on the TyTN?
PocketNester seems to have problems with the screen being in landscape...
Thnx
I know this is not much helpful either...I'm working on a new version of PocketNester which may be released in several weeks.
Try Morphgear.. it works fine on my TyTN..

Cool! The one thing I was put off by with SNES emulators was that you were forced to use the touchscreen, and the interface for that took up a good 1/3rd of the screen!
Are you showing it full screen in landscape and allowing use of the hardware keyboard to control?!? train journeys would be even better (still good thanks to coreplayer but...) if SNES games were on the agenda also!

Will you please post here when it's finished? I thank you very much in advance.
And Shamanix, thanks for your tip to use Morphgear. I think I did that, and it didn't work. I'll try again. Which version are you using?
Regards,
DM
I am using v2.4.0.1, but there is a newer version out there..

Landscape support: Yes, as well as VGA support.
But the new features in this version will not be just limited to that.
Speak of SNES emulator...we'll see
PocketGBA is surprisingly good, I play without sound though so that may have an impact.
http://www.sunbug.net/products/emul/PocketGBA.html
You can play in landscape and assign the message and internet keys to a and b so it's like holding a proper games console
oh yes and it's free :-D
I use PocketSNES - works fine on most games.
Also use CEGG (GameGear/Master System), PicoDrive (Genesis/Megadrive), GNUboy and PocketGBA and recommend them all (well, some versions...).
Fed up of emulation on Hermes though, what with the multiple-key bug and lack of diagonals. Can't seem to play a game without using the on-screen pad and hardware keys simultaneously. Real pain.
On the other hand, there's PocketSCUMM!
Has anyone else tried it? Ive been playing it recently and the graphics get a little choppy when you touch the screen, but its very playable. Ive not worked out how to draw my gun yet though, it seems the button configuration isnt pliable with the niki as far as im aware.
Does anyone know how to draw the gun?
that's due to lack of drivers. a fix will be released in March and it should improve the dual's response
i cant draw my gun because there is no button assigned to it on the niki
Have you tried pressing the keypad buttons?
How do you even install a game on your Niki? Cuz i've kinda been wondering if Red Alert ( <3 !!!!!) would run on my Niki, but i haven't got a clue on how to install it...

yeah, the keypad doesnt seem to do it either.
I had the same issues; game is almost unplayable. The Niki doesn't have all the keys, and the game response when you touch the on screen controls is .... terrible.
mines alright when you touch the screen.
it goes a bit pixely but its playable.. its the best ported game for a ppc ive seen. i just need to somehow assign a button to draw my guns.
it should be great when htc release the graphics drivers.
Is Keyboard mapping normal ? Or abnormal like on the Raphael ?
(When mapping keys in Emulators like Picodrive, SNes, Morphgear etc.)
Can someone with a X1 test it ?
Thx alot !!!
No one here with a X1 to test it ?
Haven't tried it with Morphgear yet but it works ok with Fpsece and some games i've tested (Duke Nukem 3d, Quake 3, Call of Duty 2) so it shoudn't be any problems.
Sounds nice ! Thx for your reply !

I currently have a Touch Pro, and I'm seriously considering moving to the xperia... How do quake 3/ Duke Nukem etc play on the experia? Good framerates/playable? Any sound problems?
I'm using HTC touch pro.
The keyboard wasnt useable, but with an addon "K for raphael" important keys (like left/right/up/down,a,s,x,z,-,=,backspace,shift) are covered.
The only problem I'm having atm is that when I enable sound the games become laggy (sound aswell) but when i disable it the games run smooth as hell!
Anyone else here with a HTC TP that had sound issues and fixed them? I tried lower bitrate, all the availb sound options but nothing seemed to work
Sorry for bumping this old thread, but is the Xperia keyboard good for doing things like moving up/down, right/left in Sega games? Or are the small buttons not really suited for this?
I been kicking ass in TMNT lost in time snes on morphgear, keys are great for it

how did you map the keys for morphgear?
anyone know how he is running this so well?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNCFmcx1-9g
i have tried morphgear didnt work so well, couldnt get full screen etc.
its just a video wich he is playing, no game i think
i would love to be able to play sonic like that on my X1.....
i ones tryd to install an emulator...
but it would not show it in wvga like you see on the video
I thought the same thing, you should try morphgear...it works well the all the snes roms i have tried so far (barr sf alpha 2).
you can set the display to work in landscape (east) which then manes you can map the buttons (keyboard) and use it that way! Its pretty freakin sweet, I was kinda gutted the games were so $hit for the xperia...this makes it things a lot better!
Now i just need to find the flash player for the ppc (cant remember the name now, it was mention in another post)...which allows us to play flash games! I loved "squares" on the pc, simple game...which would be brilliant with the xperias touch screen!

Could you confirm which version of morphgear to use and what the various settings are. Do you get a good framerate?
I really want a phone that can play emulators in full speed so would be rly nice if any1 can tell if they have been able to play snes or gba in full speed with full screen and with sound?
thnx.

I tried yesterday plaing snes (knight of the round) and it works very nice but ive got no sound and its just a bit leggy but I think its accaptable (maybe 22 fps)... I didnt try to get it in fullscreen, but i coulndt get it working in landscape mode...
GBA files work really nice, guess they are even with sound. Fullspeed? Yes!
hey man,
I have had my x1 since jan this year and with roms getting better/faster and with people making tweaks (gfxboost etc) yes...morphgear is very playable.
To be honest tho, I dont put it fullscreen...i make it "actual size" which keeps it 4:3 and also turn on sound. NES/GBA games are full speed...I have noticed some snes games are kinda sluggish still (better with sound off).
I read on another part of the forum somebody is making a new snes emulator and its been getting good reviews so far!
oh, ye, found something about the new emulator you were speaking of
SnesGo:
http://sites.google.com/site/snesgo/
any1 tried it on the xperia?
are You sure guys that You are talking about gba and not gb/gbc ?? if yes, then is it possible to play on this morphgear in landscape mode with keyboard open?
gba is not fullspeed on morphgear. its laggy, but playable. Sound doesnt work with gba roms in morphgear.
fullscreen is still playable. 4:3 ratio (actual size) is a bit better.
The problem is, that this emulators were made when phones were slow. They dont emulate Roms like an emulator on PC does. If you want a fast Emulator (GBA) on X1 someone needs to make a new emulator desigend for fast phones.
Maybe a solution but I havent tried it:
Install pocketDOS and run the No$GBA dos version. maybe it works. dont know ...

Tried on X1. Can't get it to run roms. Just goes into the splash screen after loading up a rom and hangs there. Exactly same thing happens with pocketSNES which this emulator is based on.
Finally! Just got morphgear running perfectly with Chrono Trigger on X1 And with a amazingly cool virtual pad.

Yippee!
Good topic, I was thinking about a good SNES emulator yesterday: "I wonder if there's a good SNES emulator for Winmo..."
Well, it works pretty good on my X1 and I'm happily playing Frontmission (one of my favorite mecha game-series) while commuting. the only thing I didn't get working yet was sound, but I'm thinking I should fiddle around with the settings a little. I really like that the emulator lets you rotate and auto-scale the graphics so that I can comfortably use my X1 sideways for a bit more screen-estate.

I'm using Morphgear.
Nice. The below comment conversation is from SnesGo dev blog. So we should be waiting for a X1 compatible version in a few weeks. Hope it will work out

hey, Im running this on a SE X1. When I choose rom the emulator goes to the the SnesGo splash screen and does nothing.
I tried changing to VGA and then running snesgo, but the problem remained. Roms that I tried was Super mario world, punch out and zelda. They are all in zip format.
I tried to look for a FAQ or instructions but couldnt find anything. Maybe I missed something here, lemme know, I'll be glad to help you with testing.

Thanks for reporting this. I've added a FAQ page at project site.
VGA/WVGA devices shall be supported by next release, in 2-3 weeks
