remove the protection foil from the screen if this is the one shipped with. This one doesn't have holes for speaker.

Yes.This is the 1st you need to do when you power up your device. I almost return my diamond to the company for complaining extremely low earpiece volume. What a shame!

I was wondering if anyone had found a way to lower the volume on the speaker phone so that you could use it as the ear piece instead of the one on the front? I am wondering because I hate getting the screen all dirty when I use the regular ear piece and I thought since the mic is on the bottom you could just use the speaker on the back and not mess up the screen. However, when I have tried this the sound is way too loud to have next to my ear. I have searched for a way to lower this volume to a decent level, but found nothing. The other hard part is that I also want to be able to turn the speaker back up when I want to use it as a real speaker phone so I don't want to just lower the overall volume through the speaker. Does anyone know of a way to get more range out of the speaker volume so I can do this? Are there any hacks, tips, or programs that will do this? Any help would be much appreciated!

Using NueAudio, you can configure each part, speaker included. I am sure you can lower the speaker to almost nothing and it should work as a regular earpiece.
Hi All. Loving my new xperia except for the speaker level, which is far too low for car navigation and not too good for handsfree calls. Can anyone advise on increasing the speake volume please. Thanks.
How to increase the volume of the speaker
I have the same question.
The speaker is not loud enough. I heard that there are two volume settings that can increased separately to add up. It's that true?
This has already been dealt with here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=443276&highlight=low+speaker+volume
In other words no.
The small hole where the speaker is is very easily covered up (try playing an mp3 and put your thumb over the hole then removing it) You will see a HUGE drop in volume.
This especially annoying when i'm missing calls because the phone is in my pocket.
My previous phone the K700 allowed sound to 'leak' out...I am wondering whether drilling some holes in the case might improve things
Hi All
Apologies if this has been answered, I did a search on here and google on this, found lots of complaints on it but no answers!
Ear piece volume is extremely loud, only way to turn it down is to activate the loudspeaker/speaker phone, then switch it off again.
Is there a fix for this - if there is I can't see one anywhere?
Thanks!
So no fix for this then? I have had a look through the registry but couldn't find anything that looked like default call volume unless I missed it?
Volume buttons
Just use the volume buttons on the left side.
That's not the solution - The ear piece is extremely loud even on the quietest setting using the volume buttons but if you activate the loudspeaker then switch back to the ear piece the volume on the ear piece is a lot quieter for some strange reason. By doing that the volume becomes bearable.
Have you never heard of this problem? Quite a few people are experiencing this.
Latz,
As far as I am aware there is no solution at the moment.

New HTC owner here. I find the call volume very low and often have to either press hard on the ear or find a spot on the ear that has the most volume. Its about 30% less then my lasy pos motorola. Is there any fix to crank up the volume? I have it set on the highest.

For me its the opposite, if I turn the volume to the maximum, i have to hold the phone a few centimetres away from my ear...
I assume you have tried the volume button on the side when in a call?

Yeah, i've read some threads about volume being too loud. I tried the side button too but its way too low even at a highest level
It sounds weird, but Radios play an important role in all of this. Try a different radio and see if the volume goes up.
press the volume buttons "during" a call....this volume is different from the volume in regular standby use..........hope it helps
The low speaker volume is driving me crazy. Anyone have a mod to increase the volume? Thanks.

While powered on and on your home screen (or any other screen), press and hold the 'volume up' rocker, otherwise known as volume+.
But seriously, it's HTC specific. Their speakers aren't very good for speakerphone. Just the nature of the beast.
I have found that if you put the phone face up on a flat surface, like a tabletop or something similar, it helps that weak little speaker by reflecting some sound onto and off the surface. It works for me. In contrast, the EVO, another HTC product has a much better and louder speaker, go figure. It's a shame that HTC chose this crappy tiny and tinny sounding speaker for the MT4G. Alternately, when I'm in a group listening to speaker-phone, I just take my BlueAnt S4 out of the car and place it on the table, where everyone can hear just fine through that Bluetooth device. If you do a lot of speaker-phone meetings, it may be worth getting one for yourself.
