With the Wizard I used VJOKButt with the IE-button so that I could close programs and dialogs without using the stylus.
The TyTN/Hermes has it's own OK button(s), and I was wondering if anyone knows a way these buttons can actually close (or be reconfigured to launch VJOKButt) programs?
I've already tried AE Button Plus but couldn't set a custom action for the OK button (allthough this might be because I didn't register the program)...
Any tips would be apreciated!
Moskus, if I ever get my computer working again,

I may try to build such a feature in to VJOkButt, but I'd rather people be able to use their own button mappers. However, if AE Button plus doesn't do it, then I may try to build in this feature.

AEB Plus
Actually it does work, you just have to add it as a new button (menu | add button). I've got my OK hardware button mapped to ok/close for one press and close front application for a long press.
Steven
I certainly would love it if is was build in to VJOKButt, Vijay!
I guess I'll try AEButton again (for now). Didn't see that "Add button" feature..
EDIT: The AEButton finds the hardware OK button, but the combination of VJOKButt and AEButton won't close the application, just minimize it. :?
With AE Button Plus 2.4.3 beta and upwards, you can capture and map the "ok" and "windows" buttons. Have set mine to close apps with 2 depresses of the "ok" button.
can it be done by tweaking some of the registry rather to instsall some of the 3rd party program?
Hmmm... I should have investigated some more. Now it works!
PQzII let's you map any button on the hermes (and universal) to anything you want...it is really great. It has an option to make the ok button a 'really close button' and much more.

You can find out a lot about it in this forum by searching for pqzII.
Hi All,
I'm trying AEBPlus and I tried to map the OK button the side to be "OK/Close" for one press and "Close active application" for two presses. however, the single press doesn't seem to work. Pressing it once no longer minimizes applications or funciton as the OK/Close button. In fact it does nothing. I'm using a CHT9000 with the Dopod English Rom. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

how about good old smartskey? it works in my Hermes, press&hold right softkey removes active window from memory.
Aye, but until it supports OK button it's less intuitive. The newest version support the OK button on the Prophet but this operates the PIE button on the Hermes. I've PM'd Water about it but no response
OK buttons NOT mappable under WM5..not through menus anyway!

I agree. On my HTC Prophet using Wisbar Advanced 2, I am able to map the 'OK' button to 'Close/OK' option of the Wisbar application, which did close all my programs etc. On my VarioII the 'OK' buttons are not mappable. Bummer!!
Try PQZII for me is fantastic, not only to close programs, you can map everithing...
How d'u use it this PQZII? Help!!

Forgive my stupidity, but I'm currently using it, but haven't a clue how to get it to that for sure. It seems to work for some applications, but not for others. Any tips or guides for dummies like me
I'll join the dummies club too!
PQzII would be perfect if we could attach key presses of the same key to different apps like in AE button plus.
unfortunately, once PQzII captures the button, it overides AE button plus, meaning the 2 can't work together on the same button.
also found out that AE button plus 2.5 doesn't capture the windows button at all. Investigated back and found that only 2.4.3 beta did.
I dont know AEbutton so I dont understand why you want use both the programs. (note: also PQZ dose not configure well the win button) but you can configure any other button, eg: alt+left to close program (I put alt in internet button so if I want to close a program I press "internet program" and "left".
I've mapped my 'Button 5' (under settings/Buttons...) to 'Close/ok' of the Wisbar Advanced settings, which does close everything. Just until, as bydandie said, a more intuitive method can be achieved by using the 'ok' button.
in PQZII there is an option to make ok button to close, I dont use that option because I want to have some programs running down, you can try

How do you do that MAKBET? Please share. Details please.
On my previous O2 devices, i used the messaging button to launch Voice Command, however i can't see any default way of re-mapping the bottom right "ok" button on my new 3600i.
I've read many posts about button re-mapping software, however would apprecaite any thoughts you might have for this device & WM6.
Thanks!
AS or as I know, AEButton Plus is the only way to remap these buttons.

Hey all,
One off the pet hates i have about the hermes as compared to the wizard is the loss off the volume adjust on the left hand side.
I like the scroll wheel on the hermes but i hate that it doesn't automatically activate the volume bar, having to get out the stylus and tap the volume icon, or smudge up the screen trying to clumsily tap it with my thumb is annoying.
Is there anyway of making a press and hold of the wheel activate the volume? or anything along those lines?
I'm sure I'm not the only one with this pet hate.
Thanks in advance.
i would love this feature.. i miss it from my wizard
I have been trying to do this as well with key mapping software. However I cant find one that will open up the volume controls when I press a specific button. I am able to map presses to volume up/down but thats not what i want. Hopefully somebody else has a solution.
I know exactly what you guys mean.
@Knockz... have you tries this already with AE Button Plus? The new version better recognizes keys that the older versions could not.
I'll give it a try and see.

Think I may have the solution to your needs:
What I've done is use this portions of Wisbar (WisVol.exe) someone extracted from the full program.
Copied WisVol.exe to SD Card under programs
Made a Shortcut to: \Windows\Start Menu (with Resco Explorer)
Mapped my PTT Key to the new shortcut
Now I can access the volume with out using my stylus.
I use the PTT open the volume settings and the wheel to increase or decrease the volume.
Hope this helps....
Here is the file....
PTT Key?
Thanks Jac, I will have to give this a try. I should be able to map the exe directly to a key using aebutton plus. Hopefully this works.
PERFECT!!!! Just gave it a try. Linked my PTT key to the program using AEButtons Plus and now when I press it I can scroll my volume.
Thanks for the tim Jac. Somebody should build this into the next rom.

On ATT 8525 HTC Phones have a new function Push To Talk (PTT) Kinda like a walkie talkie function
ahhh, well i got it all as i need now, using that wisbar and AEButton plus. Thanks to all.
Hi all,
I wanted you all to know another cool feature, use AEButton to trigger the wisbar volume bubble from the following post (it does not adjust volume on first click and it has a smaller step for volume settings):

WisBar Volume CAB
I've been using Wisbar Volume for quite a while and it's been wonderful...
To give back a little here is a cab I've made for easy install and removal with a shortcut to start menu (sorry no graphics for the shortcut)
I've also been using for a while the Wisbar Volume control above...it works great!
Hi. I'd like to know if there's a way to make more HW buttons visible in settings/buttons so that they can be mapped?
I've looked at the registry but that didn't make me any wiser..
I don't want to use X1 button mapper, I just want more buttons to choose from.
Now there's only Left Key and Right Key available.
/Thanks

Yes, I've already tried AE B+ but I didn't like the lag it produces from pressing a button until the action is performed.
I found out today that with SPB pocket Plus you can add buttons to the stock WM6.1 buttonmapper and you can also assign a press+hold function to every button.
I also tried the freeware HButton with which you can assign 5 actions to every HW button in the stock buttonmapper list.
In combination with SPB Pocket Plus this is a must have for me.
No lag at all!!!
/thanks for the tip anyway.

I've so far only tried with the ok button.
After installing spb pp I got an option in the button window that says "Add new button".
Try it and follow the instructions.

Eh. Doesnt work with any other. I shall continue with X1BC. I like the fact that HButton vibrates on press and hold. I should add this to X1BC.
