Broken Stand By Button, can i change it? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

My tytn have a broken stand by button (power button?), so i can't use it without an headphone (i start with it a new call to turn on the screen). I lose the warranty, so i have two solutions.
Change via software the button with another like camera (a great solution).
Make an hardware bridge with another switch like the switch of the camera.
Somebody can hel me in the first? Sorry for my english, i'm an italian boy. Thx for all.

The Red Button

Hi,
I would like to know if there is any way that you can tweak the registry or install any application to enable the red button to close (or minimise) the phone dialer after completing the call (as you would do on a normal phone). It seems really silly to drag out the stylus to close (or minimise) the phone dialer after receiving a call.

Just assign record button to OK/Close function.
Red button problem
Well, I can't even get my red button to turn off the phone (although it says in the manual that it does this). Which means that I have to get out my stylus to turn the phone off if I, say, pop into the library. Even then the stylus click (2 clickes, as it brings up a menu first) doesn't always work, and when it does it is slow. I just want to pres a button , and IDEALLY WITHOUT HAVING TO OPEN THE CASE (but that's anotheer topic!). Has anyone else had this problem; do you know how to solve it?
@Cathy
Hi, Have you done a soft reset? Try .
Have you install new programs recently?

This is a known bug. It just doesn't work the way the manual describes. Currently, I know of no way around it, although I think everyone wants that feature back, so I guess HTC will fix it in a future ROM upgrade.

First Time - Hello + a few questions

Hy,
My name is Felipe and this is my first post. I wish the best for everybody here.
I just put my hands on my new XDA II and I have a few questions, if someone could help me with them I will apreciate very much.
1st- Yesterday I had to hardreset my unit, after that I found strange that the camera button does not turn on the XDA2, it still bring the camera function but only when the XDA2 is on. I found that strange because I am almost sure that I was able to bring the camera mode on with the XDA2 off with the press of the camera button. Soo, what is up? Does the camera button had to turn on the unit or it is the only button that does not turn on the unit if pressed?
2nd- I read all the manual and I saw nothing about speach dialler, I can´t belive a fantastic eletronic like this does not have this feature. I would like to confirm and if soo, I would like to know about one or two software to help me on this since I will almost always use the XDA2 on my bag and headset on.
3rd- I found the IR port just too little, I know sometimes size does not matter but have someone used the XDA2 as a remote controler for home eletronics? If it is not good enought could you please tell me if there is a IR emitter as a SD card, since the XDA2 does not have a CF card slot and the to be released backpack will have the cf slot placed in the botton. I heard that the Total Remote is a great solution, does it uses the earphone jack?
4th-I found something strange on my XDA2, on "settings" - "device information" - "call duration" I found that my unit received 1193046hours and 27 minutes of incoming calls. How this happen if the unit was suposed to be new (at least it arrived as new on box with seal, without any sign of used mark? is this any kind of test or bug? Is is possible to reset this number so I can have a real record of it?
5th- I bought a Blue Monkey usb/bluetooth dongle to be used on my desktop. I planed to use it to make the sync between the XDA2 and the descktop. But I found some problems. First I cant get the thing to work, so I ask is that possible to sync both of them with bluetooth? Two I had problems to find the descktop with my XDA2 while I had the Jabra250 instaled on the XDA2, soo can I have two bluetooth units bonded within my XDA2 or I need to chose and install only one?
Lots of questions for a first post.
I thanks in advance for the help.
Felipe

I just found out my device has deeply discharged itself over the course of just two days, so I can't test it right now. I would say it depends on the setting in one of the phone menus which determines whether any button wakes up the device, or whether you need to explicitly turn it on.

No voice-dial app comes with the device. A number of voice-dial and more general voice command applications exist. "Fonix Voice Dial" and "Microsoft Voice Command" come to mind immediately. Use Google for more details.

I was thinking of performing an internal modification of the IR-port on mine.

That number of hours works out to exactly 0x123456 in hexadecimal, so that is unlikley to be the real number of hours. Funny though... There is at present not yet a tool or method to reset the Hmalaya call timers.

I played with Bluetooth sync and found it not to be worth it at the moment. You need to hit 'Sync over Bluetooth' on the device, which is annoying, and you need to soft-reset and re-bond frequently. Wait for newer ROMs before actually using this feature.
Lots of questions for a first post.

No worries, I stayed wide awake.... Welcome to XDA-developers...
When I got my xda2 it also said I had millions of hours of outgoing calls, once you make a call however the pointers reset to zero and start counting, so dont worry about it.

Yesterday I was able to use a chip of my girlfriend on my XDA2 and it worked very nice with the only exeption of the GPRS feature that I was not able to make work due to lack of information on my operator.
Anyway after I seen your post I had a look at the counter and unfortunately it did not zeroed but added the time I was using.
I will have to note it and then substract if I want to know on the future.
Anyway I thank you for the response.

Hummm, I forgot to tell that I tried to unlock the button but there is no option to lock just one button or unlock it but only all of them or none (with exeption to the power button). If I do lock, then it work as stated on the manual, but the strange is that if I unlock, the camera button continues to be the only one that does not power the XDA2 when it is off. But it work fine if the xda2 is on. I tried to assign diferent role for the camera button to see if it have to do with the assigned functions but it appear that the problem is direct related to the button not to the function.
What I would ask is to you just verify if your xda2 turn on with the camera button. And tell me.
Thanks for the help.

So many hardware issues

It first started with the blue light blinking, even with the phone turned off. The only way to stop it from blinking was to remove the battery for about 10 seconds.
Then, everything I typed staarted to ddoublle letteers raandomlyy.
Now, it's acting like the down button is stuck. I can't do anything on the phone because its always scrolling down, beating out any other input.
I can live with the first two, but the third one has made the phone completely unusable. It's never been around water, never dropped, just randomly doing this crap. Any ideas on how to fix it? Hard reset does not work, new rom does not work, its a hardware issue.
Yes it is probably a hardware issue. Time for a phone swap
I'm actually out of warranty, so the only thing I can do it either switch to a different phone or try fixing this one. Have nothing to lose by opening it up, just wanted to see if anyone else has fixed it by cutting any wires or connections on the inside of the phone.

No phone insurance. Verizon completely screwed me on that phone purchase in more ways than one. By the time I figured that out it was to late.
TO bad I got mine added late. I just called the lady I bought the phone from and she added it.
Not sure about the blue-light.
I was able to fix my repeating-letters using the keyboard fix in this post:
For the constant-down input - it could either be the touchscreen digitizer or the hardware keyboard. YouTube has a series of videos on dismantling the Mogul - it may be worth some "exploratory surgery" to see what might be causing the problem (cookie crumbs, perhaps)...
Hope this helps. Good luck.
Htc mogul hardware button - issue
Dear XDA GURUS,
I am facing this very weird problem on my HTC MOGUL. All my Hardware button have stopped responding / Working. Please help me sort out this issue.
Waiting for your valued reply with solution.
Detail given on below link.
My HTC MOGUL HARDWARE Button Issue
Dear XDA GURUS,
yesterday i tried to do some RnD for this same problem. now the inputs. (Nothing technical)
* Even though my camera hardware button is not working, but, i can still enter the bootloader screen.
* Even though my both soft reset hardware button are not working, but, still i can do the hard reset.
This only means that, my buttons are working fine, but, according to my logic, they have lost there assignment.
After that i started searching web, if i can find a App / setting / hack / register setting, in which i can assign then there original key setting. So i found this on XDA forum as below.
Code:
[B]How to assign a shortcut to EndKey, SendKey, Power Button, PTT Button!![/B]
Hello
Since some of you guys asked about this , well there you go:
if you look inside the keyboard driver with a good disassembler (IDA Pro) you would see that you can create these link files :
Long_PTT.lnk (push to talk button+long press)
Long_End.lnk (the read key+long press)
Long_Send.lnk (the green key+long press)
Short_PTT.lnk (push to talk button)
Long_Power.lnk (Power button +long press)
Short_Power.lnk (Power button)
So basically all you need is to create these link files and put them in to windows folder. You can assign these keys to any shortcut you want .

ok now, certain things are clear. now anybody out there can help get this thing sorted out.
Waiting for concrete solution.

How to lock all buttons exept power button

how to lock all buttons exept the power button in wm6.5 ?
In wm6.1 it was possible to change that in settings/keys menu. But in wm6.5 this is gone for some stupid reason!
I dont want to use ext. app like pocketshield for such a basic and simple feature.
Reason: when phone is screenlocked - any hardwarekey wake up phone from standby. And of course the screen pops up and drain battery. HD2 keys are recessed and in the pocked can easyly accidentialy get pressed. When screen weaks up for some reasons (incoming call or other notification event) the buttons are not locked and i dont need to describe what funny things can happen then (just imagine on your own). Even accidentialy changes to my settings happened in my pocket without recognising.
HTC: this is ridiculous.
Pls help. Is there maybe a easy reghack to activate this basic feature again, like it was implemented in previous Rom versions?
the button lock in WM6.5 is the same as WM6.1 (got X1 before)
but in HD2 it's different.. and I don't think anyone solved this problem yet...
No known solution indeed, apart from using S2U2, and if you want to save more battery adding proximitylock.
what if you locked the keys while you are making a call with bluetooth and you want to look in your phone? You'd have to press the "end call/power" button..
Also since the power button turns the screen off, I automaticly press the same button to turn the screen on when I'm not making a call.. I can't count the times I've ended a call by accident like this.. another great design flaw of this phone
I still hope someone will find a solution for a working hardwarebuttonlock
no one found a solution yet?
i'm having the same problem and strangely i am irritating myself to death on this,
Not a good job HTC!

[Q] Is it possible to repair this?

Hello.
A friend of mine tried to flash a rom and now his HTC Touch HD is stuck at the screen which is shown on the picture.
fotos-hochladen.net/view/unbenanntnoyqf7au.png
Is it possible to repair the Device?
Sorry for the bad quality of the picture. He only sent me this one.
Thanks in advance!
Hi
you have to Hardreset you device in you original state,to do that, you have to presse the volume button (Plus & minus) both together at the same time, than the red reset button beside your SDcard,at first presse both volume button, and stay on it, than a short presse on the red reset button, look on the screen of you phone, after a couple a secound you will get the 3Colored screen if you see the 3colored screen take the pressure from the volume buttons, after that it is everything explaind on the screen to go back to you original ROM, it takes sometimes more than one tray to get to the colored screen, berause the pressure have to be exact on both, plus and minus volume.
Thank you very much. I will tell my friend to do that. If other people read this and think that its a good idea to do it this way maybe you can tell me. So I can be sure I dont want to tell him something wrong.
Btw this portal is awesome!!
Hi
It is the only and saves't way to get a phone with this kind of issue to work and to its original ROM
