Is there any way to get rid of them or to make them transparent?
Something I have tried time and time again to find out. There was a program called Pocket Facelift, which either got rid of them or cloned the today screen and superimposed an image over the top without the lines. I've searched for registry entries, hacks and cracks. Everything. Never been able to find it.
I still wish someone would produce a low memory footprint version of a screen that say the later Nokias and Samsungs have, where all the information about the phone is held in the corners (battery, SMS, signal, etc), leaving the rest of the screen for the picture (without lines).
Cheers

Anton.Valleyman: when you say "low memory", I guess WDA is out of the question
I hadn't seen Facelift before. The page seems to suggest that Facelift may be a replacement Today plugin host:
Today screen scrolling is fully supported. The today screen plugins are resized in order to avoid covering information by the scroll bar.

Resizing Today plugins requires some messy coding or hosting plugins yourself. That might explain how they get rid of the seperator lines - if you host the plugins yourself, you obviously don't have to draw the lines... that's just a theory though!

My unreleased VJEphemeris is entirely skinnable, and I'm trying to design it around a thumb friendly design. I want to use the corners in the way you described... but your idea is a good one, a nice clean full screen today plugin just showing basics, operator logo and a wallpaper is a nice idea...
For the lines, I just suggest you choose a color similar to your background. I use a plain white wallpaper, so easy for me
It might be feasible to do some hairy hacking to subclass the today screen and intercept the line drawing function, but I don't recommend it as an easy solution

The ETEN Dialpad is very nice, but the buttons are still too narrow and not spaced wide enough.
Plus, the History, etc. buttons on top are touching the top row of numbers and are too easy to hit by mistake (getting you out of the keypad in the middle of dialing:-(
Is there something which provides larger, more spaced out buttons?
I see posts asking for it, but can't find any alternatives.
Thanks!
O.K., is it because it is a technical issue and it would be difficult to map large, separated buttons covering most of the screen, or is it that everyone is happy with the size of the buttons.
I doubt it's the latter, since I've seen a number of posts about it, but nobody has offered a definitive answer.
Anyone?
I hope its not an hardware issue cause i'd love bigger buttons.
Sorry to be a pest, but just wondering if larger and better spaced out buttons are at all possible?
The reason I am asking, is that even in ETEN it seems that the buttons are simply wider and appear larger mostly due to the fact that they touch each other and utilize the gaps between the standard dialpad's keys. I personally like the ETEN idea a lot, but find that without spacing between the buttons, dialling is actually a bit more error prone than with the original dialler (and I keep hitting History by mistake, since it touches the "2", which can totally screw up dialling fast in a car:-(
I would play with creating some larger bitmaps, if it's within my very limited abilities, but have the feeling that spreading the buttons on a larger are on the screen involves much more than meets the eye. Am I correct in this assumption?
Anyone who has an answer to this?
(Or even better, a solution?

why would you say smart dialing works, when it does not. At least not on mine, with this installation above.
I've seen the skin a while ago, but I was reluctant to install it because people said smart dialing was off, and now I'm stuck with it because I believed you.

Can you not uninstall it? Also, here's Eten dialer _with_ smartdial. Use it and love it...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=263579
i'd love to see a dialer that takes up the whole screen and only has the following
Call History
==== (Number Display)
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
* 0 #
Granted of course the call history button can be smaller to accomodate for a larger number display and keys.

This would be great.
I would like some help.
Part of my Prophet screen doesn't work anymore.
This means aligning is hell.
I would like to squeeze some more life out of the thing ...
Especially with guys like Gullum, Cloudifa, and all the other ones ...
I have already found out the registry key is
HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\TOUCH\Calibration settings
I have only found values for elf, atom and others on the net.
But they are not yet as close to Prophet (atom is OK except for the far right side of the screen (scroll ...)
Could someone please be able to give me the values on their prophet ?
Want to post it instead of messaging directly to keep this on the forum for others.
If I should have missed an earlies posting woth the settings, sorry, please then redirect me.

These values are unique to each device. If every device was the same, there would be no need for this!
From my ROM setup: 1839,1997 3118,684 3126,3328 577,3291 602,690
Thanks !
I know about the unique settings, but with your prophet settings I can try to come closer thn woth settings fora completely different device, and maybe tweak a bit more myself through remot registry editor.
Thanks again!
HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\TOUCH\Calibration settings

You need a registry editor. If you just want to realign the screen, hold the windows hardware button and then press the centre d-pad button.
salll
tnx...but my PDA doesn't allow to finish the align screen process, one of the corners i can't align it...maybe phisical problem???

Maybe a hardware issue...
Try using a registry editor (I'd use this) to edit the settings using those above... May not be perfect but may help....
ANyone please help. My BA's Touchscreen is cracked and not functioning anymore. But for now i need to use it. When sending SMS i have to touch or press the Send button from the touch screen. But since my screen doesnt work anymore, is there a way like assigning the "Send" button into the hardware key?
Or is there any application that can do this? Anyone please help!
Thanks in advance!
hi
what do u mean cracked?there is a picture and there is no tap action?or there is no picture and response anymore?there is like damage in lcd like un usual colors and rabush and lines?because may be if u change the rom or re-upgrading the rom,may be the problem fixed, specially in minor problems.
i think u cannot send msgs without tap action.
there is a crack, display is okay, but touch response is not fuctioning well, the only thing i notice is that, when i press on the right bottom most of the screen, sometime touch works and sometimes not works. I been trying to do the Align screen method but doesnt work. i think it is the hardware problem.
if that sms is really that important to you, you can always connect the device to the pc and when connected to activesync a nice little freeware called "my mobiler" can be used to control the device with the pc's mouse and keyboard and gets the device's screen on your pc screen. it can be downloaded here:
http://www.mymobiler.com/
but after bypassing the problem for now, we should focus on getting the thing fixed. you could answer homam_france's questions to help us determine what exactly went wrong and maybe you don't need to bypass then anymore but can solve the problem!
EDIT: ignore the request for more information, you already answered while i was writing this
@Chef_Tony
Thank you, but that is what I am doing right now. But my problem is that when i am not in from of my pc and I need to send important sms? Maybe there is a software that can map the Send softkey to hardware key.
Thanks again!
you could try this program:
http://classic.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=21070
there is a trial version there, and if you can install, start and control that program without the use of the touch screen, or from your pc, maybe you can tell it to for example, map the left softkey with the mail hardware key or something like that, i haven't tested it. if that prog is not right, on the bottom of that page there is a link for related applications, maybe one of those helps you.
if, however, the remapping of the keys does not work, for a different sms application, you could try:
iwindowsmobile sms chat:
http://iwindowsmobile.com/threaded-sms-messaging.html
visual it simple sms:
http://www.visualit.co.uk/PocketPC/simplesms_V5.htm
or this one:
http://www.mobileflipper.com/mobile-tips/sms-application-for-windows-mobile-50-60-and-61/
maybe their way of hitting the send button is different and works for your device.
by the way, on any normal mobile phone, you can also send an sms by pressing the green call button, unfortunately, ppc phones don't do that.

Why don't you just go to Setting/Personal/Buttons and map a button to "<Left Softkey>"
Thanks to everyone
Thanks to you all. I finally got a chance to fix my touch screen. not bad at all. except that i forgot to right fit the volume hardware keys.
Be very careful with the Volume key, if you don't close the case wright, you might broke the switch (a little switch on the mainboard that is moved by the volume key). Just make shure it's in the wright place when closing the case
Hi to all.
What can I do in case the ba is working, the screen is perfect but no more touch? it's a os 5.2.1933(18533.0.7.0)
thanks
that can happen but it has probably nothing to do with the rom. it means that the digitizer is broken and you need to look for a new one, maybe a good ebay search or a post in xda's marketplace could help you
thanks 4 the reply. Do you mean a new lcd screen?
no, just the digitizer, it is the see through touch panel on top on the actual display, maybe you are lucky and find a cheap one, as you don't need a new screen.
you can buy a new digitizer on dealextreme.com, i recall a few months ago they were selling the digitizers for Blueangel devices, its very easy to disassemble the BA & replace it. Good luck.
BA Screen alignment settings at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\TOUCH
Can any of the members pl. post the screen alignment settings available at Registry entry Screen alignment settings for BA and/or variants at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\TOUCH
Value Name: CalibrationData
Value data:
? (5 sets of data)
Value type: REG_SZ
Value Name: MaxCalError
Value Data: ?
Base : Decimal
Value type: REG_DWORD
With these values most of the BA devices with defective touch screen can become functional to large extent.
Actually we can add the values to the BA Wiki
Regards
here's the CalibrationData:
17 154,258 154,788 865,785 859,262
i dont have a MaxCalError key.
Good luck,
dtd
Hi DTD,
Thanks for the prompt reply. Pl. verify the data provided by you as it doesnt seem to have the 5 sets for the CalibrationData values & repost correctly.
Thanks in advance

You just need to do some cleaning. The answer is here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1399157&postcount=16
Yeah...
In my past search I didn't see this post....
When last week I opened my tytn to see the keyboard, I thought how to clean the contacts, but when I saw the white plastic layer I was discouraged (I'm afraid of to line it up after cleaning...).
However I think I'll try!
One question: can I use a drop of contact cleaner in every disk (it is fastest)? Or is better to scratch every disk with... something?
Thank you everybody!
mikechannon said:
You can try contact cleaner. A very fine emery paper can also be used. The process is a bit "hit and miss" I'm afraid and could take a few tries to get right (which of course means assembling and disassembling a few times. If possible do not completely remove the white layer and peel it back slowly so as not to stretch it. Try also to keep it free from dust and any liquid chemicals you are using.

In effect the problem is that the white label doesn't stick more if contact cleaner goes out of the disk...
The same for dust....
Uff holy patience.........
Good work!!
With a little of patience and the keyboard is like new!
Thanks!!
