How can I add or delete an icon on the taskbar?

How can I add or delete an icon on the taskbar?
I wanted to remove the icon for manual screen rotation and I want to add some other stuff.

To remove the rotate screen icon goto the registry,
HKey_Local_Mchine\Services\ScreenRotate
change the ShowIcon Value to 0, reboot and it wont be there.

Thanks carnivor. I tried this suggestion from the WiKi, but this did not work for me:
To hide the screen rotation icon:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\ROTATION\HideOrientationUI = 1
I'll try your suggestion. How about adding an icon on the taskbar?

cktlcmd: you want to check out PHM Tray Launch to add icons to the tray. There are other commercial solutions as well. And someone else, I forget who, made one called VJTrayLaunch, but it's not very good or recommended over the other offerings.
PHM's website may be down, but I've attached a zip somewhere in a Wizard thread on pop up keyboards. Prize if you can find it.

Thanks Vijay555. I did found PHM Power Toys which included PHM Tray Launch. I just don't know how to install only the PHM tray launch though. I don't want the other clutter. Here is a link: http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/phmpocketpcpowertoys.shtml
Another question please. How do you use PHM Tray launch?

SBSH's iLauncher puts icons in the tray. Definitely the easiest to use (I found the PHM software a bit fiddly and the icons didn't render well) but you do have to pay for it...

Does iLauncher causes any slow downs on the Universal? Can I install it on my SD card or does it have to stay on internal memory?

I have located the battericon and screen rotation icone removal, anybody know where the wireless connection removal setting is in the registry.

To use PHM TrayLaunch
1) Install PowerToys and copy traylnch.exe out.
2) Remove PowerToys if don't require
3) Put back traylnch.exe and run it
One catch. After each soft reset you'll have to re-activate traylaunch. Any attempt to put in StartUp results in icons not displaying its original self ie. 'Notes-like' icons will be displayed instead.

wiki now updated with all three regedits to do remove the taskbar from the today screen. by removing the icons, the bar is gone by default.

Chage Icons?

Haya guys and or galls...
I'm trying to edit the icons of the shortcuts in my start menu.
I want to use this, so that I can use the Icons of programs like tomtom to startup via the overclock tool....
But now, sice the shortcut starts with the omapclock tool, the icon is the same as the tool...
Also, there is an app called flitsnav, which also launches Tomtom, and I want to use the tomtom icon rof this shortcut...
I can't seem to find the solution in this forum anywhere, but maybe I looked over it in my search..
Can someone help me???

p50kombi: if you want to change the icon for the executable, which you don't (since you want to change icons for shortcuts), you would use a resource editor on your PC. That's not too easy, but it's doable.
Using custom icons on shortcuts on the PDA is not difficult.
Basically, copy this into notepad, and call it VJMail.lnk

- Ignore this (it's the length of everything after #)
\windows\tmail.exe
- this is the app you want to launch
?\windows\DIM.exe,0
- this is the icon it should show instead of its default one
- it means, take the first (ie 0th) icon in \windows\dim.exe as the icon
It's not hard. This is just an example. Use your own programs etc of course.

PMC TodayShrink and the systray

Can someone tell me how to display (not to hide!) the System Tray when I use PCM TodayShrink ? In my case it completely disappears !

Remove the link or file from the startup dir and then restart

I don't understand: if I remove the file from startup, then I won't have TodayShrink running? I would like to run both TodayShrink and the SysTray

So you want to show the system tray while using a program thats programmed to hide the system tray?

I believed that TodayShrink will hide only the taskbar, not the systray.
I want to have more space on my TodayScreen but I want to keep my systray!

I think this app will hide the topbar and the bottom bar(where your softkeys sit). As far as the systray goes you may need to change some registry settings to do that, there is also an app somewhere for doing it. If you start the todayshrink app with -config as a parameter I believe it will give you the options for setting the size of both the top and bottom bars.

try vijay tools...It does exactly what you want. It's what I use...No softkeys but still have my programs in the systems tray.
I don't have the link to his site but a quick google should find it. Vijay is a mod here also.

so you want to replace the "softkey" screenspace with the "systray".....
i guess that will not be possible.... the softkeys are only hidden not disabled...
and systray is 10px above....

it's possible to disable the icon area at today (i mean the icons at bottom of the today screen) ?
if yes, how ?

i use the t810 fsc window mobile device with a screen size 240x240 and i need this place for other today plugins.

this is called "tray" and every windows mobile phone has this ! please see first thread for such kind of questions. this would help for let this side clearly for DEVELOPMENT and HACKING !

thanks for the rapid answer ... but i dont have the trayAp.exe key in init registry folder.
and init_tray.lnk file not available in folder \Windows\StartUp.
i search with the mentioned "remove tray" but it looks like that this setting is not common, depends on which mobile ?!?

Was going around the manila files trying to do some simple customization...
can someone help me out what manila file is associated with the 'bottom arrow' thing for the slider...
and how to change the text for the right softkey and the text inside the start menu( the name under the icons ). i did search the registry but couldnt find it..may be i didnt search well.. anyways i would like some help from you guys -and in the mean time will get back to searching the forums.. ..
