HTC P3600 witch software - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hallo,
I'm new here, in 5 days i get my htc p3600 and i don't have any software for it , so i want you to ask with software is a must have for this device.
i need something for weather , navigation, music player, skins .....
thanks

Here is a single piece of software that does it all, better email, music player, skins for everything, maps, it may even make you a taco!
ALL GREAT THINGS!!

i already use the search but i don't know even the name of the software

Hi [email protected]@,
Here's a short list of all you should get for your Trin, if you're the one I think you are ;-)
- MobileShell 2.1 + patch to make it your today + skins
- PocketCM Contacts 0.25 + PocketCM Keyboard
- Schaps' advanced settings
- A_C's S2U2, S2V and S2P
- Tomtom 7 + maps
- Estermec Java JBED
- Opera mini 4.1 + patch to make it default browser
That should fill some gaps already.

where i can find a free weather program?

your most used applications!!!... for the Wizard

I am wondering what apps/games you really really reccomend that are essential. Like an essential Today launcher is iLauncher, an essential application is voice command, and an essential game is marble worlds.
just list them, i really need to know. thanks.
- Batti. Get a good look at the battery status in the wizard. [freeware]
- Birthday. Get ur contacts birthdays in today screen with age etc. [freeware]
- SPB ToPlay. Play WMP playlist from today screen. very simple apps. too bad doesn't support shuffle option. [shareware?]
- TCPMP. Divx player for windows mobile. [freeware]
- InClose Mobile. Best task manager I've seen to date. Switch to tasks. Close All, Turn off screen (cool for listining to music), landscape switch without sliding open keyboard. and other features. [freeware]
- E-TEN Dialer Vista skin. Cool dialer skin apps (unfortunately only English compatible and u lose smardial if u use it. [freeware]
- BatteryStatus. Overclocking the wizard in one simple touch, also continues overclocking. [freeware]
Most of the software can be found via Google or search the forum.
Cheers,
Shah
I use a few, but the must have's for me are;
Opera - PIE just can't handle java script as well and it has faster page rendering and tabs.
TomTom - The best GPS software.
Conduits Pocket Player - The best MP3 player, gapless playback, streaming, great format support and plugins. I dont think there is a better music player for WM5.
TCPMP - The best video player but dont use it much now i have a PSP.
iLauncher - Today program launcher. The MDA does not have the resolution or screen real estate for the clutter other today plugins make IMO. I only use it to launch TomTom, Pocket Player and Memory Map when i am driving.
inClose - Like magic button, but better, more options and has never crashed like MB always did for me.
Resco Explorer - The best file management app by far. If you own a WM5 device, it should be illegal to not have it.
Memmaid - Cleans up temp files, caches and registry. Not without it's fault, but there is nothing else that can really do what it does as far as i know.
Voice Command - Great for voice activation but when the hell are they going to update it for bluetooth and reading text/emails?
here are mine
iLauncher - Today launcher
PocketBreeze - Today launcher
Voice Command - Voice activation?
Magic Button - Closes applications (freeware)
Marble Worlds - Great Game (similar to marble maddness on NES)
Virtual Pool Mobile - Pool hustling simulater
OmapClock - overclocking
Pope Battery Status - displays battery status at top (made by somebody in this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=21699&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=25
(except it does have 2 problems, you can't turn it off without uninstalling it, and it shows up on every page, not just the today screen... bad during movies).

On the HS850, the gateway closes if you push the button. But pushing the button again reopens it. So it just takes two pushes to activate VC--one to open the gateway and one for VC. It's usable on the Motorola.

If you use latest version of WM5Newmenu (version 2.0.0 beta) happened to me the same but solution is easy..
Create a shortcut like this in which folder you like
\Windows\tmail.exe -Service "YOURACCOUNTNAME" -To ""
Don't forget the quotation marks and create a new menu Item and point the shourtcut you have created. And If you just want to check mail in the background (won't popup the email client screen) shourtcut is like this
\Windows\tmail.exe -Service "YOURACCOUNTNAME" -Sync
Thats great, thanks for that. I used the paramaters option in Newmenu rather than create a lnk file, but it still works fine.
Much appreciated.
Glad to help you , sure it works without a shortcut but I am used to create a shortcut for to use as a today item too.

Best 10 Apps

Hello all,
I've just bought a shiny new Ameo. Overall, I'm very happy with it. The keyboard is a bit of a challenge when your hands cover as much acreage as mine, but im sure i'll get used to its idiosyncratic layout and lack of num lock. in time.
So now i'm thinking about which apps to install.
What do you guys think are the essentials? The apps my ameo shouldn't be without?
cheers!
Tomtom 6
MS Live Search
Voice Command
live search - good shout. installed it.
built in gps; i'm lovin it.
Coreplayer (check the other threads in this forum for how to setup) for DivX/XVid playback.
iGo2006 (instead of TomTom6, it's much better ;-) ).
Avantgo client for News/RSS.
Mobipocket Reader for Books.
Also:
AEB Buttons 2.5.2
WM6 Remote Desktop
Skype
Some that I forgot because I'm so used to them being there:
SPB Diary 2.0
SPB Weather
SPB Time
Skype^^ - definately - the VOIP functions of skype actually work using the Athena, the processor in the Wizard wasn't quite good enough.
I'm surprised nobody mentioned ozVGA or MrTrueVGA.
It HAS to be the first thing you install (I prefer ozVGA), closely followed by VJBigPhone and WA2.
Then of course it all depends on what you do with the device, or intend to do.
I really like coreplayer, Resco Explorer and the reg. edit addon
I wouldn't mind some suggestions for an instant messaging program that handles both MSN messenger and Google talk. IM+ 4.33 and 4.35 keeps crashing for me.
Edit: As for num lock. Yes you can do that. Takes a lilttle fiddling with the special button though. 4 presses in a row to lock the "blue keys", 4 presses to "unlock". A little silly, but you get used to it.
my apps...
- IM+ I'm running this without any issues.
- pRSSreader as it's free. I disable the today plug because it makes my phone run slow and i think sometimes lock up.
- WiFiFoFum.
- WM6 Remote Desktop, much better than the WM5 Remote Desktop client.
- TomTom6
- AE Button Plus
- Magic Button
- Resco Explorer (ftp addon, registry addon and works great to connect to other computers on your network.
- SmallMenu Plus
- Sprite Backup
- Total Commander
- VGA software already mentioned above
- Pocket Informant
- BlueTooth and Wifi icons for tray. Someone posted them to the Athena forum recently.
I want to hear what others have installed also. I want to add more and more and more.
Edit: MortPlayer (just an awesome and FREE audio player)
Best photo editing?
What's the best photo editing software for the Athena/WM5? Just looking for something with a lot of options when editing pictures.

3) Spb Pocket Plus
4) Spb Diary
5) Spb Insight
6) Marsware Weather Panel
7) SBSH Pocket Weather

apphoen...thanks a bunch for an excellent tip. iGo 2006 with UK maps is absolutely brill! I much prefer it to TomTom 6 and have already uninstalled from my Ameo. I much prefer the options in iGo but lack the speed camera warnings. Will test it out some more and if all goes well, will probably invest further.
Thanks again for a great heads up.
Apps I cannot live without:
WA2
Resco Explorer 2007 with all plug-ins
TCPMP 0.72RC or Coreplayer
David Andr 'Batti'
AE Button Plus v 2.51
WM6 Remote Desktop
Winmobileapps Call SMS Blocker (but will be trying Spb Phone Suite soon)
WM5torage - must have
SKTools - must have
Resco Pocket Radio v1.60
Resco Photoviewer v6
RARLAB Pocket RAR
Windows Live
Zombienexus WM6 3G Video Calling Dialler skin
Silent Services btIO - normal audio through BT headset
iGo 2006 (just converted from TomTom 6.1)
int13 PacMad (looks sweet on the 5" screen and plays beautifully) as does the following VGA games:
Spb Brain Evolution
Spb Xonix II SA VGA
Real Dice Dominoes, Sudoku Master II & Mahjong
Acky's XP Breakout

I use the default WA2 skin. Then I just take my favorite tsk and adapt it to VGA (96 dpi), and maybe change a few colors. I don't do to much since the default is nice enough.
I really like the look of iGo, so I installed it after a hard reset and configured it. Since synchronising with my Exchange account to get my contacts, it now loads up saying it is searching for contact addresses and performance might be reduced. No matter what I do, it then exits the application after around 30 secs or so. Any ideas? I really don't want to go back to TomTom!!

Christ! No idea! I'm not on an exchange server so it found my contacts fairly swiftly with no problems.
Sorry I can't help with that one.
Here's my pick of the top Pocket PC Apps:
NewsBreak 2.0
SlingPlayer Mobile
WisBar Advance 2
Pocket Weather
TomTom Navigator (I run 5.21)
Opera Mobile
HTTPMail Provider
eWallet
You can Google for all these products, or else see the list with hyperlinks.

Hi mini_man,
Can you help me with the phone skin, I saw you used the HTC Dialer Skin, I read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311557, that there were some problems, using alot of memory and no video calling and loosing the G & 3G top icons and uninstall problems, I am not concerned about the Video calls as I never do them and I hate the touch Dual standard phone interface, I just want the normal clean looking interface. Are you having any problems with yours and where did you get it? THanks.
Your looking at the wrong dialer.

This one works fine and has video etc. It was taken from the the HTC Touch Dual Rom.

What programs & applications do people prefer?

Ok...
I currently have the Alltel PPC6800. Magnificant device. (in my opinion) It's loaded with all kinds of goodies and as a facility manager, recreational tinker'er and hobbyist, I have my phone well equipped to make it operate smoothly and still utilize it for task managing and fun stuff.
So I was curious as to what everyone else had on their device's in respect to their lifestyle, work habits fun likes and device compatiability...
Here is the list on my device running Custel's V1.1 Rom:
HTC Home Plugin - Large Clock display/Organizer from Touch
HTC Home Customizer - Customizes Home Plugin
HTC Dialer - Optional Dialer from Touch
HTC Audio Manager - Optional Media Alternative from Touch
HTC 10 Button CommManager - Optional Comm from Touch
HTCustom - Another Customizer
Office Mobile - Stock
Windows Live - Removed
Voice Dial - Removed
AutoUpdate - Removed
TaskMgr - Task & Application Management tool
TCPMP - Needed for You Tube'ing videos
TCPMP Plugin V0.4.2 - Needed for You Tube'ing videos
Skunkworks VideoBundle - Needed for You Tube'ing videos
PCM Keyboard - Optional Touch Keyboard
Total Commander - Optional Registry Editor
SKTools 3.1 - PPC Cleaner, File Management & Registry Tool
Pocket Plus 4.0 - Today Plugin Organizer
Flashlite 2.1 - Allows for various animations, etc
Macromedia - Allows for various animations, etc
Touchflo V1.4.1 - Touch UI
TouchfloConfig - Configures TouchFlo on/off, gestures, etc
Google Maps 2.0 - Terrific Mapping Application
TouchPadVibrate - Vibrates Dial pad When Dialing
MS Voice Command 1.6 - Voice/BT Voice Command Application
This sum's the very accumulation of what I have compiled that works with each other, is stable with VERY little memory leak and allows for exceptional battery life (1-1/2 days) with about ~1 hr Internet/~1-2 hrs voice/~1-2 hours application running per day.
What does everyone else have?
I used to use the TCPMP and flash plugin for youtube videos, but I found a nice piece of software, that is much better, its called vtap, just type vtap.com in IE on your phone, and install it. It has a really easy to use interface, and searches more than just youtube (all kinds of sites). Much better than youtube and TCPMP. Plus you can show off your phone, saying it can do things just like the iphone.
So I will not need Videobundle, TCPMP Core or TCPMP Plugin?
**Update**
I downloaded and I like it! I was able to remove the other three and althought it may take a little load, it searches and plays wonderfully. Thanks for the lead!
Interesting concept but the quality is severely inferioir to tcpmp. This looks like it was designed to stream on a MUCH slower connection. Running the original flash video with TCPMP flash bundle is much clearer.
I have been playing with the Vtap for a while and while the interface is really nice and easy to use, I agree with what Dishe said in that it may have been designed to stream on a slower connection. TCPMP loads faster, has less interruption and has many more settings.
But I will watch this product as it develops more as i am always looking for an alternative to TCPMP.
To get off Vtap, if you like Google Maps/MS Live Search type tools, try out Yahoo GO 2.0. Slick interface, Navteq maps and decent flickr interface.

Must have programs?

I just got my HTC Blackstone yesterday and i didn't even turn it on for a first time, straight in to bootloader and installed a custom ROM!
Now that i have got it up and running with a custom rom and android, i was wondering if there is any programs i should install? (For windows mobile, of course)
Alarm clocks?
GPS?
Music players?
Games?
anything that would be handy !
What custom ROM did you install? If it is allows for the following apps, I would definitely recommend:
Cookie Monster Home Tab "CHT"
And the CHT Editor
Those two are a "must-have"!
And other apps I like are (in no specific order):
Palringo (IM client for multiple accounts)
Skype
G-Alarm
Opera Mobile 10 or Opera Mini (I think Opera Mini is quite a bit faster, but you can decide for yourself.
Weather City Editor (to add any custom city to the weather tab)
Spb Backup (to back up your entire installation, contacts etc)
MissedCallReminder (to keep reminding you of missed calls, sms, emails etc)
My Mobiler (to control your phone from your pc)
GRemote (to use your phone as a remote control via wifi for your PC; good when you watch movies on PC and want to pause, FF, rewind, turn volume up/down via your phone)
HD2 Connexions (add some useful buttons to your quicklinks - such as quick wifi on/off etc) It is made for HD2, but some buttons work on HD as well.
HD Wallpaper (for high quality wallpaper creation and to edit HTC slider icons)
HD Video Converter (for your PC to convert videos so they play smoothly using the album app on your Blackstone)
Keyboards:
FingerKeyboard 2.1 (very customizable to your liking)
SlideIT (slide from key to key instead of tapping)
All of the above (except SlideIT, G-Alarm and G-Remote) are free. However, G-Alarm and GRemote I believe have free lite versions.
GPS: There are several navigation apps. TomTom Navigator, iGo 8, Navigon Mobile Navigator (search Google for them)
