Does anyone know how to do this? I set up my Wing to receive messages from my Gmail account, but now I've decided I don't want it on the phone anymore. I can't figure out how to remove the account.
open mail app the go to menu,tools,options...tap and hold the account u want to delete, then tap delete.....hope this helps
Ahhh, I always forget about the tap-n-hold. I'm an idiot. Thanks a lot!
Is there any other way to delete an account besides the tap-n-hold trick? It doesn't seem to be working for me with the ROM I'm using. Is there a place in the registry to delete these accounts? I know there is for Microsoft-based accounts (MSN, Outlook), but I'm trying to get rid of Gmail.
EDIT: Never mind. Going to Menu/Delete from Account Picker does the trick.

I have something strange happening with my messaging. On my home plugin, for messaging it says: Yahoo! 2 unread......so I click on it, and it brings me to the messaging account picker. I have NO email accounts set up right now, so all I have showing is Text Messaging, MMS, and New EMail Account. If I try to creat a new yahoo account, it gets to the point where you type in Your Name, and Account Display Name.. I click OK, and it says that name is already assigned to another account. Enter a unique name and try again. I think its referring to the " Yahoo! " account name, but I cant get it to show up anywhere to delete it! Any idea how I can completly get rid of anything yahoo on my phone? I alrady cleared the registry of all yahoo strings, but its still telling me I have 2 unread messages in my phanton yahoo account, and it wont let me create a new yahoo acount! HELP plz!
Try the program I attached in this thread:

A few weeks ago, I also had an unread mail in one of my account even though there is no mail in the inbox.
Tried all sorts of action but could not remove the unread reminder. I hard reset, restored with Sprite backup, the reminder came back again.
Finally, I did a hard reset, and restore everything except the mail. Then I manually set up my mail account account. The problem was gone since.
same thing here eagle....there could be a fix somewhere out there, but i ended up hard resetting and then reinstalling my accounts....works good now

Hi, you could try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=368812
This is where the accounts are stored in the registry. You might need to delete the one named "Yahoo" or similar, then soft-reset and create a new e-mail account. Hope this helps if you could up a copy of the .reg file I might be able to help.
Hope this is helpful and if not I hope you find your answer soon..

Where do I delete the Email-account I just created just for testing..?
in message menu, click menu then tools then options.
From there select the account to delete and then keep holding down on it till you get the pop up menu, select delete.
deleting exchange email account?
I set up an exchange account, but then I decided I wanted to delete it so I could set up the webmail account instead. I have no trouble deleting a gmail account, but for the exchange/outlook account it won't let me remove it. Any advice or suggestions? I'm tech retarded so if anybody has any suggestions, can they write it so a 12 year old could figure it out? Thanks!
Figured it out!!!
If you're having trouble deleting an exchange account... try this... worked for me:
Start-> Programs-> active sync ... from there, delete your account and it should auto delete it from your email accounts too. Good luck!

I have a similar issue, I set up a "hotmail" account that uses windows live, and even if I set the windows live scheduler to "manual" it still keeps connecting and syncing the phone.
I want to remove the hotmail account setup completely (I have 2 gmail accounts set up perfectly happily), but the "delete" option in Messaging > Options (where all the accounts are displayed), is always greyed out.
Unlike Outlook accounts, the Hotmail account is NOT available via Active Sync, so I can't get at it that way.
Can I remove this account by editing the registry??
AHA!! - I think I just did it! Go into Windows Live, select "Switch Accounts", and then on the first part of setting up a new account, hit the "Reject" button. Windows live disconnects the old account first, by the looks of it.
Solution found, thread closed
I have been trying to set up the hotmail account.
I've tried a couple of times and eventually got an account set up. Then trying it last night, it just decided that it didn't want to connect.
So i tried to delete the old one but it wont let me as its greyed out.
So i created a new one, hoping that the old one will become active and allow me to delete the old one.
Now when i go into the account settings, my yahoo accounts are active and can be deleted, but the 2 hotmail account, one account called hotmai the new one called hotmail.com are just greyed out.
What can i do to make the hotmail account active so that i can delete it?
i am having the same problem too.
I have used an workaround (first create hotmai then edit to hotmail) to add 2 hotmail acco
unts on the device, but there is no way to remove it.
I take it that no one has come across this problem before?
or have i put this is the wrong place?
I found that I could create the account using the "Windows Live" application, and everything was simpler from there.

+1. Sod it +100!
Windows live allows you to set up 1 hotmail account with minimal effort and also gives you push email ability. Unless you want multiple hotmail accounts then you shouldn't be doing it any other way.

Hello, I recently reset my hd2 and my email settings didnt survive.
Now my emails are deleting after a few days when it didnt used to.
Can anyone tell me where the setting is to fix this??
thanks,
-CrazyPostalGirl
Exchange account, or internet email?
Are the emails deleting on the actual email account, or just off the phone?
its my AOL account linked to my phone. as far as I know its just deleting from the phone itself.
thanks,

When setting these up it asks you how many days worth of emails you want to keep so it doesn't pull your entire Gmail inbox for instance that might contain thousands of emails.
