another gps question - Mogul, XV6800 General

im from mexico and i have the mogul with iusacell (in spanish) the thing is it came with 2.18.558.1rom and 1.67.00 radio how can i enable gps without update the rom and radio because doing that i lose 1language 2 warranty 3carrier settings like web etc

There is no way to enable GPS with that rom and radio, you will have to upgrade to a newer radio and rom. Radio 3.39.x I think is the minimum radio and roms v3.x or newer are required.
Have you confirmed with them that an update to either voids the warranty? The biggest problem you will face tho is there probably isn't a carrier cab for your provider. And without the carrier.cab, you will not be able to use data or in some cases text messages. The phone should still work as a phone, and GPS would work, but unless you can find a compatible carrier cab, you will be in worse shape then you are.
Buy a $99 Tom Tom One refurb and leave the phone stock if warranty is your concern.

im not worried abaout the warranty im worried for the language i dont want a carrier rom i dont found an oem rom

Language is an issue too, the phone will do some language conversions, i.e. Windows can be set to spanish, yet the Spanish version of Windows is a lot better for a Spanish speaking person as more things take the language into consideration. So while you can set some things on the English version of the rom, an actual Spanish version would of course be better. For now I would hold off on flashing your phone, as I think you will encounter a lot more issues than just having a good working phone without GPS.

Hmmm.......(Xda software update released by O2)

I updated from http://www.my-xda.com/xda2i_soft2.html but didn't get the new radio version, and got the .169 rom version that is supposedly so bad.
Sooooo ummmm......What do you think is going on?
Is anyone else chaseing this, because due to major family problems I just don't have time at the moment! I can't afford to re-flash my Xda again, it can't be out of action!
**Edit - I did this yesterday. They could have fixed it since.
Not you going wrong, O2 have withdrawn the 1.11.170 ROM because of the connection and stability issues mentioned elsewhere on this site.
If you want stability and don't use Blackberry, use the ROM I made that can be found on this site. Have a look in the few recent threads here and you will find them.
Sorry to hear about your problems, hope they're sorted soon for the better.
Take care of yourself,
PUG.
I had got confused. I'll try it after christmas, once things have settled down. I'll just have to put up with no bluetooth for now
Will my warrenty/insurance be valid if I use an unoffical ROM?
Officially yes but there's always way around that.
O2 do state that only ROMs released by themselves are supported but those of us who have customised their 2i's know that most of the problems with the 2i are down to O2's software in the extended ROM causing the problems.
More often than not, most companies like that will not worry about what ROM is on the phone so long as it was released officially by a company for an Alpine device and it's not a cooked WM5 when it's never been released if you know what I mean.
Anyway, good luck and Merry Christmas.
Pug
I must say that after the last rom upgrade (69) was released and I had problems with it, o2 data support actually recomended that I install the rom from this site!! So that should tell us all something, should it not!?!?!?
Rom Updates...
Pug is spot on - .169 caused my BT headset to play up no end, but rather than re-flash to the vanilla .162 rom, I used Pug's with the 1.04 radio. This is the best of the available 02 roms, imho. BT fine, and the radio upgrade improves signal strength and clarity - nice one, Pug! BTW I also downgraded Caller ID, which solved my GPRS connection issues, and fitted a bigger battery. I am now happy to use my Alpine as my only phone, which was the plan in the first place...
Merry Xmas all

Then they say to people that to do so would invalidate their warranties. I just shout at them and tell them exactly what I want them to do for me, that sorted my last problem, didn't give them chance to read the script that said "hard reset". Wish they'd all sing from the same hymn sheet. Still, you pay peanuts you get monkies don't you.......
I actully got o2data support to send me a copy of 162 rom on a disk as they did not have it on their website, so I can always reflash back to that if I need to send the xda in for repair during it's warrenty. Thinking about it, is it worth me putting this (162) rom on the ftp site so anyone can reflash with it?
Please do, I am about to get a 2i and I plan to experiment as soon as I get it but I would like the .162 ROM to fall back on as it seems to be the most stable official release,
Thanks
Sorry it has taken a couple of days (but it is xmas   ) but I have put the 1.11.162 official o2 rom on the ftp site (ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Alpine/) I have uplaoded a .rar and the .exe versions hope they may be of some use to you.

I updated from this file aswell, and my Radio downgraded(?) to 1.00!
Not only this, but I applied the TomTom 5.21 upgrade at the same time, and TomTom stopped working - well, it started to lose the gps connection when i had the speaker cable for my GPS cradle plugged in and TomTom emitted a sound!
I reinstalled TomTom back to 5.1, and still got the problem, so I hard reset the XDA - same problem still!
I have now installed the .162 ExtRom with 1.04 Radio, and this seems to have solved the problem as far as TomTom is concerned, even with the latest 5.21 update. The real test will be tomorrow when I take her indoors to work in the morning, as so far (due to the snow!) I have only tested TomTom sat stationary outside the house!
Getting back to the point, though, I think I will be giving the .169 ExtRom a miss from now on!
UPDATE : I've finally gotten out and about in the car, and Installing the .162 ExtRom has solved my TTN5 problem

SPV M700 and MDA compact 3 TOMTOM nightmare...

I have an SPV M700 (HTC P3600).
I have the following problems with it:
Speaker phone is rubbish, got it set up in the cradle in my car and can hardly hear the person i am talking too. Anyone agree?
GPS!!!!!! TomTom will not work and is driving me know where except slowly insane. Same problem as other post, no mention of GPS in menus and tomtom just says No GPS device! Other post talked about ROMs? Sorry i have no idea what these are or how to install them. Any chance of someone giving me a quick dummies guide. It seems to work for other person having the exact prob.
Most internet pages don't come out too well, expected better from the IE windows mobile. Not used it before, you see.
Purchased unlocking off ebay, don't think its worked. Is there a link to unlocking on this forum?? Will i loose my Orange menu and colours when unlocked.
Keyboard. When i tried this phone out in the shop the keyboard was like a phone pad (press 2 twice for letter B) but can't find on mine, just normal one, transcriber etc??
PLEASE PLEASE spend a minute helping me. I am looking at the MDA compact III on t-mobile but just been told tomtom won't work on it by them. Don't know what speaker phone is like on it either.
Kind regards
George

George Nottingham...... Relax, get a brew, take a breath..........
First a question.... have you read all that there is here.... and which version of Tom Tom are you trying to run, you need 6.03 an "most" of the problems go away other wise....... go read this lot:-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=310971
Beofre you start rom-ing read also all of either:-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=305133
OR
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=305250
after reading AT LEAST the first post of each, upgrade the rom, there is an Orange .cab (file thinggy) knockig about to put all your orange setting and front page back on after sorting out the software and getting TT running.
As for the speaker phone... never been happy with mine, but use SoreTooth in stead
More tea and biscuits
Thanks deech for your quick reply. All that talk of tea and relaxing really worked!
Ok i have just checked the tomtom version and is it 6.00. Never i have been so happy that i have out of date software! Only concern is i tried to run Orange's Sat Nav (yes they have there own sat nav that comes sort of free, funny thing is when i rang them up they didn't know they did!). Anyway that didn't pick up a GPS signal either, ummmmm.
What is SoreTooth? Searched for it but can't find anything.
Any luck with my other two moans:
Purchased unlocking off ebay, don't think its worked. Is there a link to unlocking on this forum?? Will i loose my Orange menu and colours when unlocked.

I've been looking around the site, it look great. No idea what anything means! I'll learn, I guess.
think the keyboard thing i was banging on about is called Phone Pad?
I wonder if i can get WM6 on my orange spv m700....
I can work out how to bluetooth pictures to my mac. Oh no thats another thing to worry about, syncing with my mac! The missing sync looks good?
This is stressful. Remember what deech said George, make a brew!
ahh ummm right.... missed the other moans.........
Right Oranges own Tom Tom thing FORGET IT, get real and proper Tom Tom (from wherever ) It's limited and trial and well frankly not worth the effort.
The Phone pad thing... get PhonePad International (search round these fora) it's here
As for the unlocking....... search round here for CID and ... summat else Unlocking. No if you just unlock, then you wont loose the Orange Branding.. however why you would want that is beyond me... but hey ho.
In Tom Tom have you checked the gps receiver?..... Set it to Other NEMA and com 9 and baud rate... well anything you want from what I can see.
In TTT6.03 there is anew option... "Use Built in Reciever" and after that it ermmmm just works.......
Think I got it all now......... right time for some tea here too
And sorry for the red herring.... soretooth = Bluetooth... can be troublesome on occasion

Yes you can, follow the posts I gave earlier and robert will be your mothers brother, I did it, just remeber back up any "special" ring tones, and phone book etc etc, and afterwards grab the Orangesettings.cob, to put the mms gprs etc all back in place
Can't beleive i fell for that! I gave sorethooth a proper search as well. what a plonka. I think it comes with being a novice to all this, it takes over your life a bit and your mind only thinks about tomtom v6!
Ok cheers agian for your help deech, much appreciated.
Just one more thing if you will be so kind.
Now you have equiped me with all the links to keep me up till the weekend, i think i want to hard reset my phone. Didn't like the ebay unlocking thing and hope its hasn't buggered it up. Thinking i could start fresh? Good idea. Maybe just a factory reset?
G
's upto you or just re-flash it and have done with it, tbh I have no experience with unlocking these... now Nokias onthe other hand
Dont think you'll hurt it by doing a Hard Reset, however I dont know if it'll re-lock the phone or what, might be one for a seperate thread?
Hi macmacman- you still need to slow down!
I'd actually go against the grain here and say don't consider flashing your ROM until you are decently competent with Windows Mobile. There isn't a great deal of difference, and the M700 comes with a late version of WM5.
Why did you need to unlock? Are you going to use a different SIM card in it? Some unlockers actually work by replacing the Radio part of the ROM, and some of those are NOT GPS enabled. Go into Settings/System/Device Information and check the Radio version- it must end in .11 for GPS to be enabled. All stock Orange M700's come with GPS enabled. If yours is incorrect you must install un updated Radio stack.
As Deech says, set TTN to either Built-In, or Other NMEA using COM9 and 57600 Baud, then GO OUTSIDE WITH A CLEAR VIEW OF THE SKY to obtain a first fix- it will take up to 10 minutes the 1st time. If TTN has detected your GPS, the status line under the map display will say 'Waiting for Valid GPS Signal' - if you see that you just need to wait till it amalgamates all the sat signals. If you still see 'No GPS Device', then you either have a faulty device, or the Radio ROM isn't working properly.
Either case would be a cause for replacement by Orange- another reason not to flash the ROM, because by doing so you invalidate the warranty.
Keep trying- its worth it!
[Edit- Oh and T-Mob are talking bolox- any WM5 device can run any WM5 program. But, the Compact III is an inferior device- no WiFi, slower processor, and MicroSD card as opposed to MiniSD. Micro cards are slower, and more prone to file system errors]

A hard reset can be good to clear unwanted operator customisations, especially if you reset before the Operator Customisations start, but with the Orange M700, this can lead to loss of some services, especially Orange World, which is built into the main ROM and Extended ROM. Disabling the horrible Orange Today application is no bad thing though!
Generally once a device is unlocked, it will remain that way through hard resets and even ROM updates, but there are different unlocking methods:
SIM unlock just allows a different operators SIM card to be used (Orange and T-Mo both SIM lock their WM phones)
CID unlock allows other ROM versions to be installed (ie if an Orange device is not CID unlocked, you can only use Orange ROM's)
SPL unlocking changes the Bootloader (akin to the BIOS) to allow any valid ROM to be loaded.
All the Unlock and ROM tools are availiable via the Trinity Wiki on this site- too late for you, but don't go near the Ebay ones as you don't know what you are getting
Ok i have checked my Radio version under Device information and it says 1.16.00.00 so you right that doesn't end in .11 and so my GPS doesn't work. So i need to install un updated Radio stack.
Like you said NeilM the m700 come with .11 so something has changes this? Could have been that dodgy ebay unlocking software? I bet orange will reject my devise if i send it back for that reason!! damn it.
I am thinking of going onto t-mobile for the web and walk package. Actually i don't like the orange menu so don't care if i loose that too.
So i just need to install un updated Radio stack and so a SIM unlock. easier said then done?
Cheers NeilN and deech for your help so far. George
Yes- your 'dodgy' unlock software has corrupted the radio stack.
You first need to 'super CID' your device to allow a new Radio ROM to be added (though as your current radio is non standard this has probably already happened);
Head to This Thread which has links halfway down the 1st page to a CID Unlocker, and Radio 1.41 upgrade.
That ought to work, but make sure to follow ALL the instructions!
Ok I have hard reset my phone, so i am now back to where i started and hopefully there is no trace of my dodgy ebay unlocking rubbish?
First thing i did after resetting is check my Radio version under Device information and it still says 1.16.00.00! That must mean it was shipped to me like that.
Anyway i need to change that to .11 so i have gone to here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=305250
and downloaded the 2) Update GSM: GSM_1.41.00.11
Is the right? Sorry for being a dullard if wrong.
Anyway i downloaded it put it in a new folder on my devise then went to it on my devise and it said this is not a valid pocket pc app!
Have i got the wrong file?
No sorry- hard resetting DOES NOT go back to how it was supplied- it goes back to the latest ROM flash, be it the Radio or OS, so you are stuck with the dodgy radio stack until you upgrade it.
I don't know the specifics of the Radio ROM you have downloaded, but 1.41 is the current latest.
The file MUST BE RUN from the PC, with Activesync connected. If your device is correctly unlocked, then it will load into the PPC via A/S and initiate the update process. In the course of that, A/S will stop, and a generic USB connection established.
At that point you may get a 'Cannot Connect' error, and the screen of the Trinity will be multicoloured bars. You now need to run the update file once again, and the ROM Update progres bar should start. If it won't proceed, then you need to take Step 1 from the page you cited, and load the Hard SPL updater, which will allow the Radio update.
Ok its going well, i've managed to change my radio to.11 which i pretty proud of to be honest!
Now then i have tried the terrible orange sat nav just to see if the gps would work and it did! Next i tried my TomTom v6.00 and it didn't work. Do i definately need 6.03?
Feeling more confident now. might upgrade to WM6. If i go hear
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=305250
LVSW_Trinity_WM6_v2.0.1.1
HowTo:
1) Update SPL: HARD-SPL
2) Update GSM: GSM_1.41.00.11
3) Update ROM: 20070527_Trinity_WM6_v2.0.1.1
and download 1) 2) and 3) in order will that be ok? Will it get ride of my Orange today menus, hopefully they are a bit annoying!
I also would like Phone Pad international or something that can act like a standard textign phone pad when i am entering text for some reason mine is available to me? Think that might be an Orange thing as my mate has an older HTC and has it on.
Thanks for your quick replies so far, much appreciated.
George
one more thing, i am about to purchase tomtom navigator 6. Jsut rang them up and the version they sell is the latest 6.06. Take it this will be fine considering deech said 6.03?
Thanks
yup, basically in 6.03 they introduced "use built in gps" feature, so should be safe to assume 6.06 will still have this
I've ordered my tomtom software. I've also upgraded to WM6 thanks to that thread all about it. Doing ok for a novice i think.
Last thing to solve is this keypad thing.. had a look for phonepad international but can't find it?
Looking through options on new OS and can't find any options for the keyborad. I now seem to have lost transcriber with WM6 too!?
If you have already bought TTN6.00, you should be able the updated file FOC via TomTom Home, though you will need to pay if you want the latest maps.
Using TTN6.00, in the GPS settings, select Other NMEA Receiver (NOT Other NEA Bluetooth..), then Baud 57600 and connect to COM9
Once those are entered, you should be able to see the main screen status change to 'Waiting for Valid GPS Signal'; the GPS Status screen will have asmall revolving icon at the top right. This proecess can take some time and a clear view of the sky, so be patient!
Google PhonePad International on XDA Devs and you will find the file. It runs well on late WM5 or WM6, but as you found, won't run on the Orange version. It is a bit limited in that it doesn't have word completion, but is useful nonetheless.
Some of the WM6 ROM's omit transcriber, because it uses memory, and few people use it anyway

Newbie to HTC devices. I'm familiar with ETEN X500/WM5/WM6 etc, ROM flashing by card and all that jazz, but CID/SPL I don't know yet, so:
does SPL unlocking also cause CID & SIM unlocking? Or does each operation need to be done consecutively, if so any order?
what does CID & SPL stand for anyway, please?
and can the sat locations be updated via internet, like HP and ETEN etc ?
The reason for this is I'm waying an HTCP3600 against yet-to-be released ETEN X800

A big hi from a would be trinity owner in Dubai and a few doubts.

Hi all,
I would be buying a HTC P3600 in Dubai soon. The HTC site and the dealers here say that the trinity does not have a GPS.
Have read on this forum that having GPS is just a ROM update away. Having said that, how difficult (or easy) is it to flash the phone considering that I am an abject novice with PPC?
I would also love to have WM6 (with GPS ofcourse) on my phone. I know there is a ROM floating around this forum.
Here in Dubai we are not bound to any service providers so I will be buying an unlocked phone, so will the updated ROM work in my case?
Looking forward to the replies and do keep up the excellent work. This forum is one of the driving factors behind my decision to buy an HTC phone.
Warm regards,
Hiren

Great, now I look forward to buying the phone. Will keep the forum posted on my progress or lack of it .
I confirm there's no problem at all, even for non experts like me.
Just download the new rom from HTC site (50 MB), connect the P3600 , run the downloaded file and wait 10 minutes.
The only advise is to do a back-up of your P3600, as the upgrade will cancell everything.

If you buy a new Trinity/P3600 now, it may well come with GPS enabled anyway.
When you get it, tap Start/Settings, then the System tab (bottom of the settings screen) and then tap Device Information.
The 1st tab in Devcie Info is 'Version' and has a list of the ROM versions installed. Look at the Radio Version: if it ends in **.11, the GPS is already enabled. HTC's current ROM is 1.38.00.11, but ROM's from 1.30.00.11 were GPS enabled. If yours ends in **.10, then you need to update the Radio ROM.
Before going any further, and changing to WM6, which is still 'unofficial' and invalidates your warranty, I'd suggest getting familiar with the device and the OS. The differences between later versions of WM5 and WM6 are minimal!

Managed to check out the ROM of the Trinity's available in Dubai, its ending with .11, so that means its a GPS enabled one.

2 of 'em actually. One is the motherboard and the other is the flaking paints.
I don't have long nails but I did try scratching the phone at the store but the paint did not chip off.
My heart is still set on this phone though. I will soon be going back to India (another couple of months) and I'm not sure whether 2 months are enough to get the issues fixed. The other alternative would be to wait for the Kaiser but time frame is still unknown.
Regards
For what concerns the paint, buy it white, it is not as beautiful as the black one, but at least it does not have this problem

Phone(Radio) not working - Tried various ROM/Radio

Hello,
Basically at first, my HD2 had a problem with voice reception on other end, sent it to Hong Kong for Warranty, came back with reception good but device constantly restarting, turns out it needed a new Board, send it back to HK for a New Board, came back with a New board.
And now the Phone does not work.
I have tried the following official ROMS :
_HTC
HD2_RUU_Leo_HKCSL_WWE_1.72.831.1_Radio_CRC_Signed_15.32.50.07U_2.07
.51.22_2_Ship - "X" on the phone icon, cant detect sim at all, will
not let me turn Phone on with wireless controls
_HTC
HD2_RUU_Leo_S_HKCSL_WWE_3.14.831.3_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LE
O_S_Ship
"Operation failed" while trying to make a call.
I have tried custom Roms, the current one I am using is the Maelus ROM, 3.2.2
And details on my boot up are :
2.08.50 05

I even tried Task29 before flashing to the Maelus ROM.
It just doesn't let me turn my Phone on, whenever I go into the settings, and the phone is off, and I tap it, the little progress swirly thing appears in the middle of the screen, then stops and the phone does not go to the "ON" position.
With all those 3 roms I've tried (2 of the official HK ones from HTC Website), and also the Maelus custom rom, I cannot get the Phone to work.
It only worked once when i got the phone back on a good reception area, but now here I can't even actually turn the phone on.
Could anybody Reccomend me a Custom ROM + Radio Version to switch to, i don't know if the official ones didn't work I don't know what to do.
at the moment I got Maelus ROM on with the radio 2.08.50 05, I'm going to upgrade the radio to a slightly newer one to see if that helps. my HTC is on charge at the moment.
Has anybody experienced this issue before, and know any fix? I'm willing to try anything.
Thanks.
EDIT - Actually the Phone does turn on, e.g I can slide the slider on the options to "ON", but it does not pick up the carrier/provider or get any signal, any suggestions welcome.
time to return it again. Just make sure to put on a stock rom/radio/spl before you do so
Trying a newer radio is all you can do as far as software goes as the radio is the software side of what controls reception on your phone. Go to the HTC HD2 Master Radio Thread and download the newer versions of radios. There is eight radio versions newer than the one you have so I would just start at the Leo_RADIO_2.10.50.19_2 and work my way up to the Leo_RADIO_2.15.50.14**. If none of the eight radios solve your issue than download the official stock ROM for your HD2 from HTC. com using your serial number from your HD2 to confirm it is the ROM for your HD2 and the go to the Flash your ROM/Radio via microSD thread to learn how to flash it via SD card so you will be reverted back to complete stock ROM, SPL, radio, and Splash screen. Then send it back for further repairs as it is no more you can do software wise. Good luck hope you get your HD2 working properly again.
Thanks for the reply.
I really don't know what to do other than try different radios, it seems that the people in Hong Kong that work for HTC don't know how to repair phones, it's been returned to me from warranty twice with defects that weren't present in the first place. They fix one defect and it comes back with another.
It seems to not get any signal in some areas where previously it would e.g in lower signal suburbs it gets NO SIGNAL at all, i'm wondering if there is some aerial unit that they forgot to plug in on the board or something, or is it all integrated.
It's so annoying as they want me to pay them to send it back, so I use about $60 to and from every time, and it's about a 3-4 month wait every time. I don't know if I should request they just give me a whole new phone because nothing seems to be right.
I think the SPL program by Cotulla now has the option to put a factory SPL back on.

Wow that is crap man! It cost you 60 bucks to ship it to them and then 3 to 4 months before you get it back, that is totally unacceptable to me. I would most definitely request a replacement if I was you and tell them that you want the phone shipped to you with return shipping already paid so all you have to do is ship them your current HD2 back to them after you have received the replacement HD2. If you have had to wait that long and pay 60 bucks twice then I feel like you are entitled to a replacement HD2 as they twice have not returned a working HD2 to you.
Yes the HSPL utility by Cotulla does allow you to revert back to a factory SPL, but I suggest you use the SD card flashing method as it insures that you install the correct SPL for the ROM you flash, unless you know the correct SPL you had befor flashing any ROM to your HD2, this is the easiest eway of reverting your HD2 to total stock. One process vs two processes if you flash the ROM via USB.
The radio isn't the problem, if your issue was reception, or battery drain, then yea, it could be the radio, but the symptoms you describe can't be radio version related.
I'd be screaming @ the repair shop that sent you back a defective unit.
I do have an question from a friend of mine wondering about this: If he got an HTC HD2 T-Mobile version (unlocked), and he want to use the 3G AT&T bands (he is currently under their contract), is there a radio file he can use to unlock the bands so he can use the 3G network rather be stuck on EDGE? Also this is proven not to brick the device (a radio version that users on this site are using themselves to make this possible)?
If so, can someone point me in the right direction on acquiring the file? The device already has the HardSPL installed and it is running a cutomized Windows Mobile 6.5.3 ROM image (I did this for him so he can have the better ROM than the stock T-Mobile version). The SIM is unlocked as he is using it on AT&T but he is only on EDGE for now. Thank You very much

can can not use ATT 3G bands on a tmobile HD2, it doesn't have the hardware to support it.
Hi,
Well an update, I took the phone to a local repair shop, and surprise surprise, the antenna wasn't even connected, it was broken in half the antenna clip, so I had to pay $200 to get that fixed....... the signal is good, but at times it will drop out, whether the initial breakage of the antenna caused it to be not so good even when repaired I don't know, they put a whole new antenna in though, maybe the refurbished board that HTC HK Put in (The repair guy said they use Refurb boards), is causing the problem.
So HTC is a slack company, that can't employ people to properly repair their phones, just putting it out there. They say they can't replace the phone.
I am thinking of selling this one and getting a T-Mobile one (I am in Australia), is there any advantage of getting a T-Mobile other than the added 1024mb Memory? Does it have better signal or run faster? I want another HD2 so wondering which flavor I should get if it comes to that.
Thanks.
Hi. I am not sure that the 1024 is limted on other devices if you hack the Bootloader and put in a different ROM version. I believe the official ROM for the devices native to your country locks out the remaining ROM space, as it may do with the amount of RAM as well. I would have to look that up. I assume that most HTC HD2 handsets would be built generally the same (with the exception of the GSM chip as I have been informed).
The T-Mobile version, i believe will not allow you to use the 3G bands in your country if you are using Telstra Wireless (unless it uses the 1700 mhz spectrum as well as the 850 for its 3G). In the USA the equivolent would be AT&T and i have also been informed that the T-Mobile version HD2 will not pick up the band, no matter what you may try to do (like flashing the radio firmware).

As you live in Australia I suggest you get a Telstra HD2 if 3G is important to you. If not go for the T-Mobile HD2 it is great, but then again I have never used any other HD2.

[Q] ROM Update ended up with Error:294

I know that there are lots of similar topics here, but as far as I searched no one could solve my problem.
I have a HTC HD mini registered for Inidia but I wanna install a GCC (Arabic) Rom on it.
I already have tested "DFT_SSPL_MINI" with official and shipped Roms and also the method "Update from SD memory card" but after each one I ended up with the Error:294 invalid vendor ID.
Does anybody know the solution? I saw some guys with similar problem had successfully changed their Roms by "DFT_SSPL_MINI" but I don't know what is wrong with my phone.
Still no reply?
is your phone carrier locked?( I guess so...)
How can I find that? My phone carrier is MTN
Does it really a matter of phone carrier? I thought it should be due to a software issue of my phone.
If you bought the phone from a GSM provider and you enagaged in a monthly subscription that means your phone is carrier locked and you can update the ROM only from their site!
Yes,it does matter since the phones will have CID(Carrier ID) locked!
Example:
"CID: Carrier Id - commonly used in the form `CID-Unlocking`. If you purchase your phone (example) from Qtek (Qtek is the 'carrier'), your phone will only accept Qtek ROMs (the carrier's ROMs). If you want to flash ROMs from other carrier, you'll need to CID-unlock your phone, so that your phone will accept other ROMs. Note: In general, the phrase 'unlock your phone' usually refers to SIM-unlock, not CID unlock."
Thank you for the information
But how to CID unlock? as I said in my above post I've already used the DFT_SSPL but with no result and getting the same error. Some guys say that the sspl ignores CID check and thus you can flash a custom rom on your phone but for me it didn't have any benefits.
Do you have any other ideas for me?
then u better ask who says that,i don't buy phones from carriers so i don't know much
you know guys, in where i live, when you decide to buy a phone you should only go to a shopping center and choose something looking good and affordable and nobody cares about the carriers, cause there is no carrier in there, and after buying you'll be encountered it is merely a garbage. It's confusing for me, I paid a lot of money for a phone and there is no way to change the software, why? It's only a software, I have the hardware in my hand. why is it such a complicated problem for hackers who hack everything?

well..if you or nobody from your country doesn't care about the carriers then live with the consequences
Windows Mobile is an OS,not a software and no,it is not complicated for hackers or developers to unlock this, they are just not interested in this phone.
there are tools which unlocks CID,try www.google.com or xda search function for further references.

only solution is to make gold card and install completely rom (including radio), but to do an gold card you must to buy revskills software -> http://revskills.de
With dft sspl you are not able to install radio becouse that feature is disabled for possibly device brick but with gold card you are abble installing everything!
Curently I testing an s-off and super cid for htc hd2 and I have success in super ciding hd2 but some problems in s-offing (it go to s-off but I am lost in nand chip becouse flashing is not possible after s-off) but I think photon and hd2 have something similar about that feature and if I done it for hd2 I will try to explain how to do it for photon... I think I will done it after we have working android nand or maybe if you found jtag pins for photon (I will try to do it by jtag)
Thanks Munjeni, for your helpful answer. I hope you to be succeed. If you came up with any results please keep me informed.
I'll try some Gold Carding...

Can we find out, whether the device we've CID unlocked or not before we change the ROM?
