Managed to drop my Hermes today and smashed the screen
More urgently, though, I need to find a way of retrieving my text messages from the phone using Active Sync. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Neil
I use Jeyo mobile companion, but there might be others
Thanks for the suggestion. Problem is, I can't see the screen on the phone to install the app...
Ah, I see. I'm really sorry, I can't think of any other way, but maybe someone else can
Hi there
My xda mini has finally died after a long life. It actually still 'works' but the screen only shows white so i cant actually use it.
Anyway I was wondering if theres anyway to recover my text messages and multimedia messages from off the phone. I can still connect to active sync and have a poke around through the memory. I've found what looks like the MMS data in folders called MMS UA and MMS log. However the files are just .dat files. Any idea how i can turn these back into viewable files. Also i didnt find any obvious text message folders.
Thankyou in advance for any help.
Davey
ps im on o2 if thats important
Install Pocket Controller on your computer and then you will be able to see what is on your screen via the pc. You can download the trial version which works for free for four days from here
http://www.soti.net/default.asp?Cmd=Products&SubCmd=pcprodnld
Then you can either send the mms's and text messages to another phone the usual way or you can back them up using pimbackup which i have attached to this post. This needs to be ran from on the phone just unzip and place it anywhere on your device or sd card and open it using file explorer by clicking on it
This will work only if the touch screen is still working though as you have to confirm the install of pocket controller
Just keep pressing the bottom left of the wizard screen once active sync has finished installing the device software
Good luck
Hi, I'm pretty new to this forum.
I have an HTC TyTN II (Sprint Mogul) and unfortunately my friend shattered my LCD screen so it's completely black.
My replacement is on the way, but I've gotten about 30 text messages since it broke. I was wondering if anyone knows of any way to view your text messages on your PC?
I've tried exploring my phone through ActiveSync and all that stuff, but all I could find were a bunch of .mpb files in the /Messaging folder.
I've tried opening them with just about everything but they all come up blank.
If anyone has any tips or knows of any good programs for opening .mpb's, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

MDA Touch Plus..recently just had it back from repair, but they have also done a software upgrade.
Unfortunately now my text messages are threaded and showing "Conversation with" and just the mobile number. Therefore I have to look up my contacts for who is sending me a text message.
Been through all the settings and I have deleted all sim contacts from my contacts list.
Racking my brains here, any help guys how to get it back so i can see contact names again in my messages? I dont mind if they are still threaded so long as I can see who it is.
thanks in advance.
My wife's got the same issue. Just been back to T-Mobile for repair, got the latest firmware installed and now contacts aren't being recognised in the threaded messages.
A temporary fix seems to be to amend the contact mobile number to start +447xxx rather than 07xxx and this seems to work, but as she's got a couple of hundred contacts (uses her phone for work as well as personal use) it's gonna take some time to update them all.
Don't have this issue with either my Diamond or my Trinity (both also running WM6.1).
Any further help appreciated!
One option might be to disable threaded SMS - install this cab and all should be well again.
Hope that works for you!
Message thread resolved.
It works! Many thanks Khrushy

Youre right, been onto tech guys, this is the only cure at this moment in time. Took me half an hour to change all the contacts to +44 but its workable now. Thanks for your suggestion Martins40
The touchscreen from my HTC touch hd is not responding anymore.
Very annoying, so i had to contact htc in order to make use of the garanty.
But.. when i do that, they are totally reseting my mobile, so i will lose all my important telephone numbers!
So before i send it away, can somebody please help me what to do to save my numbers?
thanx

Does your device still turn on, but screen not respopnsive?
If so, have you tried activesync and sync your contacts with Outlook?
