applications keep auto closing..help please.. - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hello all...
I am at an end here, frustrated and very sad..
No, now really the problem.
I've searched high and low for this problem, and really can't seem to find a solution.
I have a htc Tytn, or hermes.
If I haven't performed a reset in a couple of hours, when I run an app, like NEtfront, or Messenger, then for instance go to write a text message, the tytn closes all other apps.
This is starting to become very annoying, especially since I am also running s2u2, and s2p.
If s2p is running, and s2u2 locks the phone, after a couple of seconds s2p auto closes.
Really tried everything, this is really bugging me out, anybody had or has the same issue?
Please, please pretty please with cherry's on top, can anybody help me?
Running on Schapp's rom, 4.22
Using quickmenu, want to use x to really close apps, maybe that's related, but problem is also there when use x to close is deactivated.
Running SBSH today screen plugin (Ilauncher) as well, but also with task manager function disabled..
This is getting so annoying, someone please help me!!

I think you may have a chronic shortage of RAM. Try running less stuff, and perhaps as a test, run a clean ROM for a while.

Thanks
Thanks for the reply.
Was thinking the same, just strange that when I look at my RAM usage, it is always way above 10mb with all above running.(normally I am at a stable 21-17 MB memmory free).
But maybe incidentally, it's usage peeks, especial;ly with s2p.
Been noticing that when you play around with it a little, it consumes a lot of RAM.
Waiting for Schap's new rom..
In the meantime, can you recommend a good clean rom?
Was thinking about PDACorner's rom.

But are you sure you do not have the phantom taps on top right corner in portrait mode. (Has the effect of closing programmes):

Since I don't own a Hermes, I have no idea what ROMs would be best. But, anything that's been stripped out a fair way would seem a good bet to me!

WM5.o Compatible close button needed!

has anybody come across a one button close all application for WM5.0? Spb 3.0.1 is too slow on WM5 and Wisbar Advance 2.4.....is also too much for what is needed. Something like Magicbutton but written for WM5.0 would br nice, nothing that requires much memory, but something that enables the closing of running apps without having to go into start/settings/system/memory...etc.
Wouldn't it be nice if Microsoft had just written in that piece of code, as they are well aware that since PPC2000, that every application opened, remains so unless you manually close it down in memory (therefore hogging memory resources!)
Well if anyone knows of a WM specific solution, please do share.

I added couple files which they are usefull for you and they include the closeall app.
Install the cab files you'll see the close all, Reset and Running programs, which they can be clicked from the systray directly, after the installation they require a soft reset or else you go to Start>Programs>System open TrayLaunch and press Enable
GSPocketMagic++ is the most stable program I've tried. You need to put some amended bitmaps in to get it to integrate with WM5 but it works well...

Thanks guys. I'll try them both and let you know how I get on.

sub69: I don't know what kind of coding they used in that software you recommended, but it has boosted refresh rates and performance in general by at least 30%!! I know this sounds crazy but it's true! My opinion has completely changed about the speed of the Jasjar. It seriously Rocks! I couldn't care less if it doesn't stay this way, because it shows me conclusively, that future ROMs' will probably address the issues I have had thus far.
I needed this. Thanks a bunch sub69; best link I've had with regards to Universal software.
OK 1 gripe only: I've lost my two soft buttons on the bottom bar (any ideas?). It comes back and stays operational after a soft reset, but as soon as I use the 'close all' option of the program, I loose the soft keys! Damn..there's always a hitch!
Another positive though, the speed boost remains even after I have exited the program and revert to standard WM5.0 launcher!
P.S. I had at least 12 programs running simultaneously with no slow downs at all and 15 megs of Memory still available (tried to run out of memory, But couldn't). Very pleased at the moment, this is what I was expecting from the HTC Universal!! I'll test extensively before I comment further.
Thanks again sub69, u da Man!!
Mental...I didn't realise it was that good!?!
Not sure about the soft buttons, although come to think of it I have noticed they've disappeared a couple of times. Must've been when I hit "Close All" too?
Glad I could help, anyway. Do let us know how things go...

Still cannot believe it!! It's still going strong. Sussed the soft button thingy:Under start (GSPocket)/options/settings...uncheck the 2 tabs for'use exten task close' & 'Use Today skin'. That's it. It runs absolutely perfectly for me & with no need for amended bitmaps too! It fits right in wih my red or blue border themes (I only use my own jpegs now instead of themes - in the hope that I get no performance issues.....so far so good). Under menu settind tab I only select close all & setting (which gives me quick access to all settings in WM5.0..personal & system) and under 'click' tab I leave it as default 'Menu'. I'm so impressed with this software, I didn't think non-specific WM5 software coul be this good!
That site you recommended is also tops!
This software is so good that I must put up a new thread to inform all of your wonder find. I just hope all who try it get the same experience I'm getting. Thanks again sub69....I don't even feel the need for the next ROM update/grade...though I won't be turning it away.
Hmmm, not sure why you're that stunned. I'm finding it just fine - but certainly no faster than my JJ runs under PocketPlus 3.01, and the non-VGA graphics are a real step backwards. Anyone know how to solve this?
You mention a speed improvement; can you clarify: Before this, how long did it take to rotate the screen, and how long does it take now?

That's the file you need to download for the Jasjar, then if you have an SD card reader, you can transfer it directly to it and install the .cab file by selecting it! If you don't have a card reader, let's hope you have a bluetooth dongle, as it's a small file then you can bluetooth it over. However if you have no problems with your activesync connection, just use that to dump the .cab file on your storage card somewhere or into 'My Documents' on the jasjar.
It's not complicated.

Yep, using it myself now - but no speed change over PocketPlus (even after hard reset to remove PP). Using it cos I like menu and PP didn;t offer all that much more that other apps don;t give me.

WM 6.1 problem - Slowdown after gameplay

I have an Alltel HTC Touch, and I have a problem with WM 6.1; everytime I close out a game, it slows down my entire phone (and sometimes freezes it if I load an app like Opera Mobile). I've been to PPCGeeks about this, and they helped me a lot, by helping me overclock the processor. My phone doesn't slow down too much anymore, but the slowdown is noticeable enough to still be a problem.
I've flashed to at least six different WM6.1 roms now, and each of them gave me the same issue.
Does anyone have any fixes for this? I would really appreciate the help!!
SIDE NOTE:
Also, my camera is very laggy indoors. It ran perfectly smooth before my transition to 6.1, and it remains laggy when I flash back to the stock WM 6.0. Its bearable right now, but if anyone knows how to get it running smoothly indoors again, I'd really appreciate it!
For starters, this is not an issue with the OS.
What game is it?
How many other apps are running?
How many processes are running?
What ROM are you using?
What is the Page Pool size?
Thanks for the quick reply!
Uh oh... that means the problem lies with my phone. I hope it's a problem that can be fixed...
Do you know if there's anything I can do to fix this then?

LOL!
I'm trying to help you, but I can't until you answer some of the questions.
It's like calling a mechanic and asking what's wrong with your car, it runs a bit odd, but that's all the info given.
Sorry about the double post. My info's below.
Maybe a little more information will help.
My phone first started doing this when I flashed to the new Alltel WM 6.1 rom. I followed the instructions, doing EXACTLY what the tutorial (from HTC's website) told me to. After the flash everything worked fine except for my camera and the games (slowdown issue).
I hope this helps.
WOW, I am SO sorry, I didn't even see those questions! I thought they were a part of your sig and didn't read it
1. It slows down with any game I run except for the ones that come with the rom (solitaire and bubble breaker). The games I've tried are:
Acky's XP Breakout
4pinball
Anything on Pocketnester
Snails Reloaded
Turbo Invaders
Shift
Realms
More...
2. No other processes are running. The game is the only one.
3. The roms that I've used are (all of these are for Alltel):
Conflipper's Vouge 6.1 ROM
Crystal v.4 6.1 ROM
Official 6.1 ROM
Dette M2D Diamond Edition v2.3 (Generic rom. This is the one I'm on currently).
4. How do I find the pagepool size again?
Again, sorry about that. I didn't see your questions
I officially give up!

You should have followed the cookers instructions, if you did not follow their instructions exactly, reflash by their way.
For the camera, it's sometimes laggy, especially with low memory.

I haven't even seen half of these games, but PocketNES can be buggy. I suggest using dotfred's Task Manager and viewing CPU usage after playing these games. One of them may have a memory leak causing this.
Also check the other running processes for memoery consumption.

Ususally the cooker posts this, but I see he didn't, the basics on this is it determines your available program memory at all times, especially on boot up, if you really want to know, soft reset, wait a min or two and check the avail program memory. Or use nue's system tool to view additional info.
Also, trying using Oxios Memory, it's free and will free up all avail program memory not being used.
You can try schap's Advanced Config Tool to speed up various parts of your device for improvement.
Alright, don't want to sound frustrated, but I just watched some Hell's Kitchen !
You are a genius! Thanks for the suggestions. I'm gonna try them now and see what happens, and I'll be back with my results!
And, no, you didn't sound frustrated, even though if you did, I couldn't blame you
Thanks again!
Okay, I'm back. Using the task manager you suggested, I found the problem.
The game that I tested (4Pinball) is still running after I closed it. It doesn't show up on the quick menu in the upper right corner of the today screen, but it DOES show up in that task manager.
So I go to close it, and it says it can't be closed properly, and it asks me if I want to kill it. The strange thing is, the choices are ok and cancel instead of yes and no. But anyway, I hit ok.
then another message pops up, but there's no text in it; there's just an X there. After I close that message by hitting ok, I see that 4Pinball remains in the task manager, and it's still there even after I hit refresh.
I installed it to the storage card. Would there be a better chance of it working if I install to device memory?
Sometimes I got the blank message to, don't worry about that, but you have to kill the process for it to work.
Try uninstalling it and running without it.
I keep getting the blank screen... I tried to install it on both the storage card and the device memory, but in either case it doesn't close the game. I'll keep tryin'.
Oh yeah, and I tried that oxios memory program, but it didn't work... it would start loading, but it would never come up.
I remember hearing about a program that freed up ram over at ppcgeeks's forum. I'm gonna see if I can track it down.

PocketSNES Problems

Hey All,
I couldn't find any related threads but please point me to them if there are any.
I'm having a problem with pocketsnes. I've tried both 1.12 and 1.53 and even different emulators. The problem is it doesn't seem to release the 'ram' after i exit out of the application. It even seems to grab more until my 6800 needs to be soft reset. I checked the task manager and its not showing up anymore but the amount of available memory still shows upwards of 80-90%. The only solution I have found to free up my ram again is to uninstall the cab.
When I first install it and run it everything seems great and i'm getting 60fps on games like chronotrigger and r-type, but if I exit and come back to it, its using up too much memory and starts to get laggy.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks
i had that same issue a while back with PocketSNES. i would just soft reset after playing. not ideal. however, it seems to have resolved itself after using DCD's more current kitchens?
btw have you tried playing in 'landscape mode' fullscreen, keyboard closed, and using the D-pad as a joystick? turns my Mogul into a budget-PSP! i love PocketSNES but it appears no longer maintained :/
Yeah i'm on titan reloaded 1.3.1, based off DCD's newer roms i guess. I think soft reset is going to be my only resolution. I haven't tried playing with the d-pad yet but I got it working good with my keyboard... anyway if anyone else knows some fix for this let me know.
Thanks
I'm using 1.12.141 build 2002-10-16a On DCD 3.3.4. Currently its working very well. I had trouble with later versions like 1.5.... I couldn't load roms or even use the file navigation. I find that running Oxios Hibernate after running Pnes frees a fair bit of memory but you should always be ready for instability. Its to bad Pnes isn't updated, Its great!
Chris
Pocketsnes
Yeah i'm running 1.53 currently because i get the best framerate out of it. I've used oxios too and it seems to help. Its more like an intermitten problem on my latest install, hasn't been too big of an issue but my framerates aren't as great as they were on my first install of it.
Can anyone vouch for if it's worth me installing the cab and roms on the phone rather than the SD? right now i'm running the app on the phone and the roms on the SD and i'm thinking it might have something to do with my performance. Also, it sure would be great if anyone had any info on if pocketsnes is being updated at all ( its been over a year it seems), also if there are any other updated emu's outside of smartgear and morphgear.

[HELP] Problem with some great VGA Games

Hey everybody.
I got some problems with a few games on my diamond.
The first game, I got problems with is DragonBall VGA, which can be found here.
At first, I install it. Then I start the game.. and it works flawless.
But if I try to start it a second time.. it doesn't display anything.. only the normal screen I have been to before.
The weird thing is.. I can hear the game running. I can hear the sound and I can navigate through the menu.
But I just can't see anything! Although I could play it the first time I installed!
WTF!?
I tried different version numbers etc. but I allways got the same problem. And a simple re-install doesn't help.. I have to hard reset my device to get it to work once!
Similar problems with: Nanobotz, Enslave and Resco xBall (doesn't even start once. Just gives me a weird error message, "not enough free memory")
I just want to know WHY!?
And is there any solution for this?
I'm using the very stable AZTOR rom.
Thanks for your help,
Monstaaaah
No recommendation? o_o
I really need help to play these great games..
wow.. 286 views and still no response.
Nobody got any idea?
try to uninstall games and apps from main memory and reinstall it on the 4gb internal memory.... idk if that is ur problem
Allready tried it. Doesn't change anything.
But thanks anyway.
Any other solutions?
try this
try taking off TF3D and doing it that way, if still no, clear up more ram by reseting the phone and then run them, it probably will work now. if this doesn't help. then i am clueless.
hope it works
If it is a lack of memory issue (which I had on xtrakt) then you can gain quite a few megs by disabling the htc dialpad with advanced config and as stated above also disabling tf3d, settings/today/items.

the xperia write 3seconds after I typed

I have a problem on my xperia sincethe begining.
when I type a sms if I write sentence pretty fast I have to wait to allow the pphone to finish writin.
anyone has the same pb? any solution?
did you update your phone to the latest firmware?
Firmware R2A seems to be faster, but I think the lag in general happens alot in windows mobile phones.
I've experienced this issue on my first R1A ROM that I got when the phone shipped in Nov/08. I've just recently updated to R3AA010, and noticed that the issue is still there. I do find that it helps to give the phone 10-15 seconds to finish its processing after rotating the screen (sliding out the hardware KB), since it seems to lag when you start to type RIGHT after rotating.
I am running Wisbar Advance 3 + Desktop 2, so that may have something to do with it, but I have heard that a LOT of ppl are experiencing this. Once I rotate and wait a good 10 seconds before typing, the character-popup speed is improved, but still not instant like it should be.
Could be a generic WinMo fault too...

Hm... I had the same issues with R1A AND R2A, but I haven't noticed it in R3A. Weird.
I get this issue with TouchIT 7+, and a friend of mine also gets it with Smaberg TouchX. It happened to both of us a couple of weeks after flashing. Strangely it's not happening on my one at the moment, so seems like an intermittant slow down.
thats weird, i got my device with the R2A rom and never experienced such issue, only problem i have with my x1 is that the panels does not rotate without the stutter, but hey, thats common on all xperias

If you have a full QWERTY keyboard on your phone, and you're fairly fast at typing, the word suggestions are of no use to you anyway. And I have noticed quite a lag when this setting is on, especially when writing text messages. One would think that a cell-phone with 256MB of RAM, 128MB graphics memory and a 528MHz processor could handle quick typing without delay, but apparently that was a hard nut to crack for Microsoft."

That's well worth trying if people haven't already done this. The problem I've experienced is not related to this however, as I've never had it enabled.
Here's the fix:
Along with turning off word suggesrtion. You must also click on "clear stored Entries"...this will get rid of you lag. What happens is the X1 stores everything we type so you must go in periodically (manually) and clear all those stored words out. This along with turning off word suggestion will fix lag time.

i'm running on the xperia skin and i always get this issue with the ori rom and the custom roms. mine would normally pause half way through an sms or once or twice stuck at the "To" input when doing sms. i will try to off the auto complete and see if that solve the problem - thanks for the heads-up
Again folks, I said it in my earlier post if you want to fix the text lag, you must "clear stored entry" in seetings underneth the word complettion option. This will end the lag, however periodically you will have to go back in and do it again.
