hello, guys~~
spb contact is my favourite contact manager. but I can use it only if i install and run the spb MS. but once i run it on my artemis, my phone gets slower. I wonder if i can only use spb contact without runnig the whole set of the programme or any contact manager is similar to spb contact.
Thank you so much!!!
Why don't you use PCMContact or IContact. They are both great skinnable and finger-friendly contact manager

but I prefer typing 3 letters or less to find out the contact I want. and it's faster than using icontact or PCM.
Here's a current list of all the _free_ Contact managers (like PCM)

Then why don't you try Finger-Friendly Friends? Paid app, granted, but fast and REALLY finger-friendly. And not TOO expensive either.
Just try.
Try iContact, Truburt's edition http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=402724&page=49, he just setup T9 search and is going to refine it.
Iggy - I already posted him to that

I am wondering what apps/games you really really reccomend that are essential. Like an essential Today launcher is iLauncher, an essential application is voice command, and an essential game is marble worlds.
just list them, i really need to know. thanks.
- Batti. Get a good look at the battery status in the wizard. [freeware]
- Birthday. Get ur contacts birthdays in today screen with age etc. [freeware]
- SPB ToPlay. Play WMP playlist from today screen. very simple apps. too bad doesn't support shuffle option. [shareware?]
- TCPMP. Divx player for windows mobile. [freeware]
- InClose Mobile. Best task manager I've seen to date. Switch to tasks. Close All, Turn off screen (cool for listining to music), landscape switch without sliding open keyboard. and other features. [freeware]
- E-TEN Dialer Vista skin. Cool dialer skin apps (unfortunately only English compatible and u lose smardial if u use it. [freeware]
- BatteryStatus. Overclocking the wizard in one simple touch, also continues overclocking. [freeware]
Most of the software can be found via Google or search the forum.
Cheers,
Shah
I use a few, but the must have's for me are;
Opera - PIE just can't handle java script as well and it has faster page rendering and tabs.
TomTom - The best GPS software.
Conduits Pocket Player - The best MP3 player, gapless playback, streaming, great format support and plugins. I dont think there is a better music player for WM5.
TCPMP - The best video player but dont use it much now i have a PSP.
iLauncher - Today program launcher. The MDA does not have the resolution or screen real estate for the clutter other today plugins make IMO. I only use it to launch TomTom, Pocket Player and Memory Map when i am driving.
inClose - Like magic button, but better, more options and has never crashed like MB always did for me.
Resco Explorer - The best file management app by far. If you own a WM5 device, it should be illegal to not have it.
Memmaid - Cleans up temp files, caches and registry. Not without it's fault, but there is nothing else that can really do what it does as far as i know.
Voice Command - Great for voice activation but when the hell are they going to update it for bluetooth and reading text/emails?
here are mine
iLauncher - Today launcher
PocketBreeze - Today launcher
Voice Command - Voice activation?
Magic Button - Closes applications (freeware)
Marble Worlds - Great Game (similar to marble maddness on NES)
Virtual Pool Mobile - Pool hustling simulater
OmapClock - overclocking
Pope Battery Status - displays battery status at top (made by somebody in this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=21699&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=25
(except it does have 2 problems, you can't turn it off without uninstalling it, and it shows up on every page, not just the today screen... bad during movies).

On the HS850, the gateway closes if you push the button. But pushing the button again reopens it. So it just takes two pushes to activate VC--one to open the gateway and one for VC. It's usable on the Motorola.

If you use latest version of WM5Newmenu (version 2.0.0 beta) happened to me the same but solution is easy..
Create a shortcut like this in which folder you like
\Windows\tmail.exe -Service "YOURACCOUNTNAME" -To ""
Don't forget the quotation marks and create a new menu Item and point the shourtcut you have created. And If you just want to check mail in the background (won't popup the email client screen) shourtcut is like this
\Windows\tmail.exe -Service "YOURACCOUNTNAME" -Sync
Thats great, thanks for that. I used the paramaters option in Newmenu rather than create a lnk file, but it still works fine.
Much appreciated.
Glad to help you , sure it works without a shortcut but I am used to create a shortcut for to use as a today item too.

This is, for me, by far the best PIM Manager for Windows Mobile. And it's just been overhauled. Head over to www.handango.com and buy yourself a copy.
their own homepage doesnt even show it as released i am already proud owner of PI 2007 and waiting for the free upgrade that i hope will come
Seems the Smartphone version was pre-released. Bug free versions, including PPC, due a little later.
We will just have to wait.....

You need to look in their forums. Here's the link from Alex (founder of the company):
Pocket Informant Forums
It's just a timing issue, the release is out but the homepage hasn't been updated yet...
Surely the best timing and scheduling program...
I've read that they have a problem with the installer for WM5/6.
I can confirm it doesn't work at the moment. When you run the installer for PI8 it will copy a CAB file for PI7 to your device.
Just upgraded from PI 7 to PI8 through Handango. I was lucky a few weeks ago to get the PI 7 for free through their free app friday promotion.
In case you want to purchase this...here is a coupon worth 25% off at Handango NEWYEAR08
Works through the upgrade also!!!
Cost me only $13.50
Haven't tried to load it yet as I need to work on my whole phone at this point

I've installed it on my device - that installer problem has been ironed out already. It's beautiful!!!!
bugs??
I read it from a forum somewhere that PI8 has bugs where the contacts or appointments dates are jumbled up.... i havent tested this cause i dont have one .... planning to get it though...
anyone can confirm that this bug occurs?
I've been using this program for a few months to help my works organized (though it's a cracked version).
This morning, after knowing they release the new version, I decided to buy it from Handango. Now I have a fully working registered version.
I crashed twice when using this version on my tytn II. Just using for a while only.. Will continue to try for a few day to see how..
PI 8
Works great on my TnTN II !
Supports touch scrolling now, just great
Cheers

Can you use pocketcm as contact manager with this version? With PI7 it kinda took over as default contact mgr and i could never figure out how to use another app for contacts.
The new PI8 has a scrolling feature like PocketCM.....I actually am trying the PI8 contact manager for awhile to see if it is up to par. So far I do not miss Pocket CM.

Not a big deal to get around. Just re-install PocketCM after making PI your default PIM, and PCM becomes the default contact manger with PI7 remaining the default for Calendar and such. Of course, if you click on the contacts icon within PI, it will still go to PI's contacts.
Still need pocketcm for it's chat sms.

Cant remember if i tried that! though i spent an hour searching for the answer!
i must be dumb, cause i couldn't find anything about this in any of the Ultimatelaunch threads. i just started using UL yesterday and i want to use a combined tab for 3 today plugins. HTC Home, Tasks, Calendar. unfortunatly, tasks and calendar DO NOT appear in the Today Plugin menu in UL.. so instead i'm using SPB Diary.
does anyone have any idea how to add them?
thank you very much.
your right, UL cant display some of the build in original windows plugins, Daniel wrote me that they are completly different coded or something.
SPB Diary is too heavy for me.. i would like to use something lighter. can you recommend on something similar to the regular ones that i can add?
Today Agenda
try freeware: "todayagenda"

yep... same limitation for throttlelauncher. Only DLL based plugins have the possibility to be embeded inside other today plugin. You can check HKLM\software\Microsoft\Today\Items\*****\ (where ***** is the plugin name) for the key DLL. If it exists, the plugin can be embeded... If not... search for an alternative .

I´m looking for a good finance program to use on Touch HD, but I can´t find. I tried SPB Finance, but it doesn´t work properly. The "Spb Finance Entry" (used to enter values of expenses on the go) simply doesn´t open because there isn´t a WVGA skin.
So, do you use any financial manager program? Which do you use?
Thanks!
MS Excel.......
Nobody here uses any program exept MS Excel?
cash organizer.
spb finance and hand wallet. (The last one is my final election)
EDITED: Sorry, written in Spanish...
found cash organiser to be the best.
Cash Organizer even for me: it's the best one.
I find AceMoney does what I want without being overcomplicated like (in my opinion) MicrosoftMoney. There is a PPC version of AceMoney but not sure whether it is Blackstone compatible
I use Quicken so I can sync with my PC
I use SPB Finance which works fine on my HD.
There is a skin for the "Entry" program available on the SPB forum. This makes it work in WVGA.
Personally, I just use the full SPB finance program itself rather than the Entry utility.
I also use the SPB Wallet which I find to be a little more reliable than the Ilium eWallet.
I don't think it's a screen size / resolution issue: I flashed my diamond (vga) to a 6.5 with HTC Sense and I had the same issues. First it couldn't call the app. Then I replace the file the one in the spb forum. Now the app came up, but said "no skin".
Cash Organizer worked though!
It's pretty safe to say that one of the bigger drawbacks of the Xperia over the likes of the iPhone is that isn't particularly finger-friendly in it's stock form.
I've installed iContact, which is fantastic, and has made it very easy to scroll and select contacts with a finger. The Media Experience panel, while not perfect as a player, is pretty useful for finger-friendly media browsing, and S2U2 is great for iPhone style slide-to-unlock finger control.
But the main thing I am still struggling with is SMS messages. Are there any iContact equivalent programs available for messaging? What do other people use?
Personally I use Spb Mobile Shell and it's integrated contact manager thingy. If I want to send a SMS, I click on contacts, type in the first few letters, click the contact and select 'Send SMS'. Then you just start typing and click 'Send'... Done. I think it's pretty finger friendly.
i use phone pad it's good for writing sms's with
Try Resco Contacts It's still in Beta but it's really, really good. I was using iContacts for my contacts manager but switched to this because it's faster, better looking, smoother, and has all of the phone features integrated (including the SMS that you're after).

I have tried the Resco contact manager but find the sms application need too many steps to close the SMS and exit out to the main screen.
One bad point is the Dial Pad when you press the call button on the phone, it will bring you to the Call History and you need to press the keypad then you can key in the number to call out which is a tedious process.
I am using Inesoft 4 instead which offers better functions and user-friendly.
I downloaded both Resco & Inesoft 4...so will give them both a try...thanks for the advice! Can you setup a program to be used instead of the windows method? Like say in TF3D points to a prefered app?
I did download a cab called "INGChangeFont" which allows you to change the size of fonts. Makes some buttons easier to press (pop-up windows) etc...but it doesnt seem to work for all fonts in windows.

You're saying that Inesoft is more user friendly? No way! The buttons are smaller than WM6, and although it's more configurable, sending an SMS is impossible. Start>Programs>Standard Contacts>select contact>Send text message. My old phone was Down>select contact>more>send message so pretty much anything more than that is epic fail in my book. Next, i try Resco, and if that isn't much better, back to the default WM interface. (I wanted to get the purdy picture dialing like HTC, but without the bloat)

Hi,
I've always used SMS-Chat (from a company called VITO Technology i think) - it's really good if you don't use the stylus and so far (i've had my Xperia a week) it seems to integrate perfectly.

Because when I went to a contact, there was no option to call/sms/email them... kinda used to the SE standard and WM interface I guess. I didn't know you could use it as a plugin though... i'll have to give that a shot later hehe
