After updating to WM 6.1 with the latest ROM provided in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416901 I am unable to send or receive any SMS. I have tested the SIM card in other phone and it works. Is there any setting available that I should modify?
Thanks in advance!
Problem was fixed with a factory reset!
I believe this problem is caused by having an old SIM card. My Vodafone UK SIM worked fine in my ipaq 6915 (WM5) and in many other phones, but when I got my 614c, it seemed that this model was unable to read the SMSC (short message service delivery centre) number out of the SIM, so SMS messages could not be sent. I found that my SFR (Vodafone France) SIM card worked fine which made me think it must be the Vodafone UK SIM.
When I got a new SIM from Vodafone UK, the problem disappeared.
You can verify whether this is indeed your problem by going to Settings > Phone > Services > Voice Mail and Text Messages > Get Settings. If "Text messages service center" is set to null, or another value that is not correct for your network, you have the same problem as I did. (You will probably find you are unable to set this field manually - it is read from the SIM.)
The SIM card was brand new. I think my problem was linked to 3rd party software that I have installed, but I could not figure out which one, or to a temporarily problem from my operator. After the factory reset everything worked fine and there are about 6 months since then.

Hi All,
I have an Orange SPVM3100 with the SPL2.10 bootloader and Duttys WM6 Ver 6.
The handset is unlocked and I have my work Vodafone SIM card in.
The phone has been working fine for 6 months with the Voda SIM and around 2-3 months with the Dutty WM6 OS.
Now, all of a sudden I cant get any network coverage from Vodafone.
If I put the SIM card into the Nokia 6310i that came with the contract, works fine with both incoming and outgoing calls.
If I put my Orange SIM in the SPV, it also works fine with both incoming and outgoing calls.
So that eliminates a fault with the SIM card and the handset indivually and points to an incompatibility of them working together.
Any ideas?

sound like your phone is broken... warrenty?
As it's an Orange SPVM3100 and works fine with my Orange sim but not with a Vodafone SIM,I dont think warranty is going to be an option!
I am maybe thinking a hard reset might solve the problem as it does not appear to be a hardware problem, but was waiting for input from the resident techies first!
Mark
change radio maybe?
Weird - just swapped the SIM cards around again (after numerous power cycles / soft resets / SIM swaps) and hey presto it's working again!
How weird!!!???
Not working again!!
Have now got signal bars, but making outgoing calls very slow, incoming calls going striaght to voicemail....
One thing I have noticed is that under
Settings | Phone | Network | Set Networks
Vodafone uk keeps is unticked, after ticking and moving to top it then becomes unticked again.
PS I Have also upgraded radio to 1.51
PPS Handset still works perfectly with Orange SIM
Any suggestions?
I recently upgraded my Tytn to a Tytn II and received a new sim with it.
I use my C500 for work (as it gets bashed about) and it worked 100% with the old sim I had.
I tried it with the new sim expecting it to work, everything works except I am unable to send text messages. If I go into phone settings, the SMS center number is blank and if I input the number, it doesn't save. The sim works 100% with the Tytn II.
If I put my old sim in the C500 it doesn't connect to the network as it's been disabled, but the SMS center number IS in the correct box.
Does anyone know of a way to rectify this problem? I've been onto orange tech. support and they were most unhelpful and suggested I use my Tytn II for work, they did try sending sim updates, but that didn't work.
Cheers
Me too...its the bug of WM6
i thought that my network does this sh**....but now!!!!
OK just restart UR phone
It's not WM6, i did have WM2003 but I upgrade to WM5 and Wm6 to see if they would sort it.... it didn't.
I've got onto orange again and they're looking into it apparently.
Did you ever get anywhere with this? I too want to use my old C500 for work but I can't send SMS.
Cheers,
Warey
Yeah, after weeks and weeks of orange trying to sort it there end, they sent me out a new sim card and that sorted it. I did register the new sim in the C500 just incase it was that.
Hi everyone , i have a problem with my ipaq 614c i'm using wm 6.1 here is my problem : when i want to send out a sms it takes around 10 mins and then it displays "Your text message cannot be sent.", but the weird situation is that if i make calls in this period not just 1 call if i talk for 10 mins or if i call and hang up and so on for 10 minutes the sms is sent.I'm using Vodafone RO and the sms service center is set ok.Please Help!!
Same problem here.
MMS sending and SMS-receiving works fine, just as all other services do (email, internet, etc.).
Only sending SMS does not work. Messages remain in the outbox for about 10 minutes and the error message appears.
Have you tried my solution ? making calls in those 10 minutes ?
i need to make like 3 of them to successfully send a sms. Ps. And i believe that all sms that i recive are delayed 20 30 minutes.
I had that problem too, the same with Vodafone RO. Try the sim card in a different phone and if it is working try a factory reset.

I have recently flashed an Orange SF with the JJ9 2.2 android custom ROM.
Have re-inserted the original (PAYG) orange sim, and checked the obvious stuff (WAP browsing, texts, MMS, voicemail, GPS, e-mails etc) were all OK.
Downloaded some apps from the marketplace - no problem.
I then swapped out the orange sim for for a (PAYG) 3 UK sim, and repeated the checks.
All was OK, except that SF CANNOT now receive voice calls from other mobiles but CAN can receive voice calls from landlines.
Swapped out the 3 UK sim for a (PAYG) 02 sim, and got exactly the same result (no voice calls received from mobiles)
any ideas what I might try to solve this problem?
TIA
Flashed mine with the de-orangenated ROM and used my Virgin Mobile SIM with it, no issues with voice calls whatsoever. I suggest the following:
- Flash to stock or de-orangenated (better start),
- Check your O2 SIM works as expected,
- Flash to JJ,
- check O2 SIM works as expected,
If not then one of JJ tweaks produce the issue and you should just change ROM as it is no longer in development (efforts are now pushed on Swedish Spring ROM which requires going Gen2).
@gloc33
thanks for that info
after fiddlimg around deleting and re-installing settings amongst the various sims, I somehow managed to get rid of this glitch.
I take your point re Swedish Spring - I'll give it a go

No, Swedish Spring does not require this.
Hello,
Got a SIM free E900 from Pixmania. Haven't been able to send MMS using my o2 card although I did get it to work with my Vodafone card. I have tried all the usual like the LG network setup app, ADC -> Enabled, manually setting the profile and resetting the phone. I even flashed with the latest firmware (UK version).
I tried the SIM in a SE K550i and it could send MMS so I'm out of ideas.
I spoke to LG but their rep was useless and kept trying to convince me that the settings aren't stored on the phone despite me showing him where they are in the MFG menu. o2 have been more helpful but I think they're stumped too...
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Keith
