how to install file explorer - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 ROM Development

Hi im flashed A pda viet .20226 andit has otherfileexplorer, it cant show bt folder? does anybody knows how to reinstal the file explorerdefault not thisi think it is the gsfinder... or how to view btftp folder?
thanks in advance.

@ +Que PPC,
In case you don't get the cab, try to use Resco Explorer. I know it isn't freeware, but it is a much better alternative to this version of "file explorer"
BTW, your little comment on the other thread regarding my answer was a little out of place... However, I will turn your water into beer though, just because I'm in a good mood today

It doesn't matter

I know that it supports transfer via BT. I haven't used all of its features, so I am not sure about that. Here is the link to their site, which might help a bit...

02 Battery Monitor

Hi All,
Since upgrading my XDA Exec to the latest ROM I now don't have the nice little today plugin for the battery montoring. I liked the old one as the new one on the top bar does not show enough info and having to click on it to see what percentage is left is a pain!!
So I dug out the old O2 UI CAB and removed all the stuff except the battery monitor from the CAB file and I have attached it here for anyone else who wants it. I think this should work on other ROMs as I can't see anything specific to O2 in here. Would love to hear from anyone who can run it on Qtek, Imate, Dopod etc?
Regards, Dave...
sweet, saved me having to do it
cheers dude!
Thanks very much, worked a treat!
Mach
hmm
great worked fine on my qtek9000 with the latest qtek rom!
Thank you!
It works very fine on my Qtek9000 Newest ROM.
I haven't installed the cab yet but is this what you are talking about if so i have some different skins available

Ah, hadn't searched the forum.. Oops. Nice work you have done on it though.
I had the same problem with the missing icon and the little dots. This is due to the fact the code itself is trying to put something there so to remove it is not so easy unless you had the source.
Maybe one day I will get around to writing my own based on the look of this one. Just not enough hours in the day right now!!
Cheers

Out of interest, I noticed your file is over 200K. Did you keep the original SETUP.DLL file from the original O2 CAB?
I junked this because it kept coming up with the options screen and I had to choose Corporate to bypass this. I used a SETUP.DLL file from another CAB which is much smaller.
Dave...
Thanks for this m8 8) .
Now do you happen to know how to junk the new crappy battery icon?

I am working on that. I hate it and would like to clear it from the top bar!!
Will post if I ever figure it out!!
Dave...
I installed this to my QTEK9000.
It works fine. Thank you for giving us good one.
Hi there, can you please tell me where to download this file from as I cannot find a link for it in the first post
Don't worry, found it was a security setting in my browser, got the file so thanks guys!!
OK, I have the file, can someone please explain the best way of installing it?? :?
The same way you install any cab.
Copy it onto your device, browse to it with File Explorer and tap it. Accept the security warning and choose where you want it installed to.
Works great, by the way. Thanks indeed
Thanks for the reply, like an idiot I made it more complicated than need be, I automatically assumed I had to unpack it then search for an exe file to install - doh, thanks it works perfectly

WM6 sounds anybody?

Not sure if anyone has posted these elsewhere, happy to remove this if they have. I did a quick search as I was after the WM6 sounds (they're so much better than WM5!) to no avail. As I still have my Hermes I thought I would just copy them and see if anyone else wanted them.

I tried this this morning and as most of the files are .wma I had to convert them to wav before it would see them. If anyone needs these posting I can put them up here.

Here you go. Just checked, all the file names are the same, just had to convert everything to .wav
Let me know if anything is wrong!
EDIT: Can't upload the file, the ftp keeps timing out. Will try again in a bit!

Cool! Was just about to do it tonight!!
Perhaps you could upload it to rapidshare? If you don't, I'll mirror the files on FTP with my Rapidshare premium account so that it won't expire.
Here they are - the issue was the size of some of the phone ringtones, so I've left them as .wma since they will work as ringtones, just not any other sounds.
And here's the rapidshare link! Thanks, findus!

System write protected files
Unfortunately overwriting existing files is not so easy as the current files are write-protected system files!
Instead rename the new files to something like e.g. from 'Alarm 1' (original file) rename new file to 'Alarm 1_WM6'.
just copy the '_WM6' part and paste to the end of each filename.
Once done drop all new files into 'Windows' directory and select your chosen sounds in the 'sounds and notification' app in;
settings/personal/Sounds & Notifications
works for me
I don't have any problem with the protected files. I just press on Overwrite All and it worked just fine.

Did you use Resco? That should do it, not sure if the built in File Explorer lets you do it

Yes I'm using Resco Explorer 2007. Ah I guess that's why. I have been using resco explorer for many years from previous versions. So I didn't notice that using other explorer wouldn't work.

That's it. I'm converting right now. I always thought that Resco Ex... was good for just registry tweaking and I already became accustomed to Total Commander, but I can see the benefits clearly now. Thanks again jlingo.
Resco Explorer does the job!!
Thanks jlingo & findus. Resco Explorer is the nuts. Did it with no problems.
Did't realise what I'd been missing all these years.

I never had this problem... I just used activesync and replaced all of the files from my computer. Went smoothly and all files are working just fine with just one minor problem. The audio quality is nowhere near as nice as the originial when I replaced the sounds already on the phone. They are kinda distorted and the audio quality isnt very good.

Know how you get S2U2 on my device i have a ppc 6800.....i tryed downloading the zip link and it say's buy now or use registration code, i'm not sure what too do
I'm very new at this stuff and help is very wonderful
No offense, but you seem like an idiot. All of your posts have been really stupid. You may just be a troll, but you are fun to respond to.
If you seriously cannot figure out how to use S2U2 then I suggest you sell your device to me for $50 which will give you enough to buy a normal flip phone.

by the way, your thread on ppcgeeks. To install .cab files, connect your phone through activesync, hit explore and drag the cab file over. Then on your phone, using file explorer, navigate to the cab file and click it. It will install.

What link are you using? rapidshare has a free option.
use the following:
http://ac.xenpage.eu/S2U2-0.97-WM5.rar
Then download winrar, there is a trial version that lasts forever. open it, and drag the cab file to your phone.

try using total commander or resco explorer to see hidden files/rom files.

Make sure you have Resco set to show all files. welcomehead.96.png is the file your looking for, on all devices I believe.
If you still can't find it, use a photo viewer, like S2V, and load the windows directory. Then you can browse through and find it visually.
you guys were right it was hidden. I just didnt see the option to show hidden files. but now it says this is a ROM file and cant be changed or deleted. is there anything I can do?
drop the new file (of the same name) in the windows dir. when it asks to overwrite, hit yes. that should work with resco. another [more complicated and dangerous] way is to unlock the extended rom.
hey it finally worked! Thanks for all the help guys. It looks great!
What did you replace it with? post the picture i want to see it, haha
sorry Ref cant get the screenshot to post from my phone, ill try to after while from my home computer. but if you wanna see it go search for [email protected]$, hes got all kindsa cool skins and images posted. He does really good work

Yup, like he said, although I used Resco Explorer, but you need to pay for it, very good though, in either way abandon the default file explorer, and save yourself hassle.
thanks for that. i tried it and its really useful.. thanks again..
