Soft Reset Problems - Touch CDMA General

I am running the Stock Sprint WM 6.1 Rev A ROM with GPS. I do not have a screwy configuration that I know of...but when I do a soft reset I consistently get errors of things that are not loading properly....
sometimes I only get one ... but most of the time I get 4 or 5...they vary as to what is not loading...if I soft reset again...maybe three or 4 times, then I get no errors and my phone seems to work great....till I have to reset again...
Some of the things that say they are not loading right....
calnot.exe
gnangent
PCCommLoader.exe
There are others from time to time...
I had installed Advanced Configuration, but removed it because someone told me it may be causing my trouble...removing it did not fix anything.
Please help...I really do not want to hard reset until I know what caused it so I don't repeat the problem.
Thanks!

i also get this message: the file "GNAngent" could not run or something..
i started getting it since i installed google navigator without being sure that this is the problem..

Hard Reset OR Flash to 1.48.. "Noobie" Conundrum!!

Hi folks,
Maybe its the same thing... but I'm not sure.
I have been having serious difficulty with some apps refusal to load and/or connect to the internet, namely Marketplace, Peep, The Channer, Speeedreader and various other 3rd party applications. I have soft reset a number of times to no avail, I even uninstalled and reinstalled all the apps (except Peep) and now Marketplace won't even open when I click on it! Very frustrating in what is turning out to be an otherwise pleasant phone experience! Opera and my Email connect to HSDPA and various wifi without issue, but the above apps don't see either wifi or my network connection at all, ever.
Its like some file got wiped out in the registry or something.
Here is the link to those woes of mine in another post (with evdincial videos): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=589765&highlight=weareborg
I was going to take the plunge and do my first hard reset today until I heard that 1.48 ROM was out.
My question is, (because I think that some vital connection registry setting or something I screwed up big time with when using Total Commander) is it wiser to do a hard reset with existing firmware in the hopes my connection issues will be resolved OR should I flash to 1.48 directly??
Essentially, is flashing the same as hard resetting or will the overwriting of the files in the flashing process simply leave out what it can't see and I'm back to square one?
I hope you can understand my ramblings and would appreciate any advice!
Thanks in advance!
In my humble opinion if you have to HR anyway, you may as well move up to the latest ROM.
Good fault finding would say go with the HR and see if you can recreate the problem, but why not kill two birds...
Good luck
Thanks Gustopher, so flashing and HR are essentially the same? All the files Connection files are there in the new ROM? I'm not sure how much a new ROM "borrows" from an old ROM if you get me..
Thanks again.
wab.
Flashing a new ROM effectively performs a hard reset anyway. I've not heard of the 1.48 ROMs being worse in any way so if you're hard resetting anyway, you might as well update the ROM while you're at it.
Flashing the ROM is NOT the same as hardresetting.
If you flash a ROM, you will install a "new operating system" and everything will be wiped clean (as if it were hard resetted too)
A hard reset re-installs the CURRENT "operating system" and also wipes your device.
So... if you need to hard reset anyway, and a new ROM is out, just flash the new ROM.
The connection files (to setup GPRS automatically etc) are in the new ROM. It will work.
Thanks a lot all for your opinions!
Okay... I'm goin' in!
Fingees crossed!

big problems

I have the phone for almost an year without having any problems at all.
Approximately 1 month ago i installed a theme (from this forum) and it worked perfectly untill i decided to change it with another one (also taken from the this forum). After the restart the main screen froze and the touch flo was not active.I could only scroll the menu and acces it.
Also, i could't change the wallpaper.
After this, i tried a hard reset and apparently everything came back to normal EXCEPT: the internet connection didn't work at all no matter the settings i've made and from time to time a "dont send" error popped up. The error was : AudioManager_eng.exe.
After this, i updated my rom (from the htc official website) and had another hard reset and still NOTHING.
In fact i noticed other errors as well. When i tried to acces the mussic tab - audioManager_eng.exe error appeared, when i open wm another wm error appeared.
PS: i also had the storage card formated hopping to solve the audiomanager_eng.exe error (no result)
What should i do now? I feel like i tried everything ...
PS2: i am sorry for the possible mistakes
english is not my mother tongue. Also please try explainig a sollution in simple terms so i can understand step by step what i am supposed to do
thanks
please help....
Have you tried a hard reset to restore everything to default? Or removing theme which started all problems? When you flashed a new rom you may have added more problems, especially if you didn't follow this guide. Depending on what rom you flashed your SPL may not match causing incompatibilities. Does the screen look distorted when you start/boot up phone? Does this discolourization go away when you press power on/off? If so you have a mismatching SPL. Read and follow the dummies guide to see if this fixes some of your issues.
I didnt flash the rom.I had an upgrade .This one: http://www.htc.com/europe/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=179&cat=2&dl_id=533
And YES, i also had not one hard reset but 4 or so.Can that harm the phone?

no bootup

I have changed the rom twice on my touch hd.Two different ones'black dragon and Stonehenge'But every time, after a few days when I go to soft reset it,for some reason,it will not boot up again and I have to hard reset it,to get it to work again.
Any ideas what this could be caused by??
Same Problem
I am having the same problem.
I am on Dutty Holly Grail R0 right now.
But I have been using Dutty´s Roms for long time and there was no problem. Now, no matter which Rom I flash, after some days I get this problem that makes me hard reset.
I don´t think it´s a Rom problem but I haven't figured yet.
If you discover something please let me know.

[Q] Two issues

Hello everyone!
I encountered two problems with my HD2 having installed Gingerbread 2.3.7 Nexus-HD. The first one; sometimes, I don't know sure why, and what causes this, but when I lock the phone and I try to unlock it( immediately, I didn't try to wait for longer) it doesn't unlock, but the display turns from dark(as locked) to a little bit grey, as if it would work, but I cannot see what I am doing.
The second one, sometimes, I think after I run a game, or something that requires more power and I press the HOME button, when I try to enter the Menu, it flashes continously.( as if it would change rapidly from Menu, to Home screen)
Where these problems might come from and what can I do in order to fix them ?
Really sounds like a hardware issue, try pressing the buttons hard and releasing a few times.
Did any liquid get on the phone ?

Had alot of this issue on slow dying sdcard. My experience is your card have some problems. Try to check your card windows pc, start CMD and type- chkdsk (drive letter of sd card): /x /f or try to format your card with sdformatter pc freeware.
Sent from my HD2 using xda premium
You can try flashing the rom again. Before doing it, remeber to format your sd card. Try other roms too. If the problem persists in evry rom, then try a different sd card. after this the only problem will be your hardware.
Give a thanks if you found this Helpful
I don't think it is a hardware problem, beacause it worked all fine a few days ago, and the phone didn't took any damage in this time. I have this HD2 from a friend and when he gave it to me, I wanted to reinstall the ROM,bacause I wanted not to appear anymore his google account. I am a beginner in HTC and I installed this ROM following a tutorial, but I am not sure I did eveything all right. I wonder how I could erase everything and install a good, stable ROM from scratch, but I need an exact tutorial for this.
Meanwhile, those problem solved by themselves, but now I get the same freezing screen when I try to call or someone calls me. I can hear them, but it just freezes and I cannot do anything, unless I remove the battery. It doesn't happen all the time, but very often...
LE: Right now I'm trying another ROM, I installed a version of CWM of 150 mb( as requested by this ROM) and wiped everything and now it is installing hyperdroid CM7 v5.5.2.
I have to say that with the previous ROM I tried to remove the SD and the same error, so I thought that changing it may be a solution.

[Q] Problem with WIFI, freeze and reboot after time of sleep (Also in secure mode)

Hi, I never root my phone or flash a custom ROM.
The problems was started when I flashed a new ROM from sammobile of another country, my phone comes with 4.2 and I flashed a 4.3.
I flashed newer ROM from only Vodafone-Spain (only those really are my official supplier), and then I update ever with Samsung KIES, (no Knox counter)
So, with Andorid 4.3 I had more problems than now with 4.4, now the only problem is with WIFI
I can use normally, with screen ON, the problem is when sleep for a long time (more than 1 hour) when I touch a button I see the unlock screen, but does not seem to work the touch screen, and screen go off after a seconds, if I touch other button the screen don't go on. And then, after aprox 30s it reboot itself, and show a window telling that the Process System is not responding, do you want to close?, and two buttons, close or wait.
I tried to start my phone in Secure Mode and I have the same problem, so it is not an app, it is the ROM.
I do at least 2 Factory Reset, but the problem is still there.
I think it is a software problem and not a hardware problem, because the problem start when I update to Android 4.3
I tried the trick WIFI Power save Mode OFF (on dialer, *#0011# -> WIFI -> Power save mode OFF) and never reboot automatically, so the problem I think it is with this power save mode. But if I turn off, when WIFI is ON, the battery drain fast.
In the samsung shop they tell me that first will format my phone to see if the problem solve and try for a time, if not solve, then I have to send by mail... and I will not send it because I know the time it will take to repair it is about 1-2 months and I need the phone for my work.
So is there another solution or something to try?

Since the first ROM (4.2) I flashed 3 or 4 ROMs from SamMobile, so I am not very optimistic. But I don't lost nothing, I will try it
I flash again the ROM, and after 2 days testing, the problem is still there.
Any other thing to try before send to samsung?
Please, give me another idea to try. I really have a problem with WIFI
This is how Wifi (some times) drain my battery when are not connected to a network. But the problem is worst when is connected, because it freeze and reboot.

Yes I solve. So.. I don't solve it, it solve it self. One day I saw that I don't had wifi connection, then I saw that I don't any WIFI names stored, all was erased automatically, I don't know how.
But the result it, I don't have anymore a freeze or a reboot because wifi. ALL, absolute ALL run fine now. I had a lot of WIFI names stored, about 30-50, maybe this was the problem, a conflict with some of these names, but I'm not sure
No one update, reflash, factory reset, or start in safe mode was solve any problem, the problem solve it self... very strange.
If you try a factory reset, then don't restore all your mobile config. Try to install all apps manually, one by one. I ever restored my backuped config, and I think this was the problem.
Hope you can solve it

Thank you very much for answering so quickly.
Happens to me exactly what you do, but seems to have no solution.
I have tried more than 8 roms, stock or mods, and always fails.
At first I thought it would issue the modem or kernel, but after many tests, I do not ****ing know what is causing the problem.
I'm running out of solutions, anyway thanks for telling your case...
I'm glad that in the end one way or another, you have it fixed.

What happens when you fully wipe, flash a 4.4.2 rom, don't restore anything, not even your google account and don't install any apps.

Thanks for your interest! The truth is that it is very strange ...
If I remember correctly, already try what you mention me, but I kept going ... It's like at some point something had happened which change roms not seem to solve..
I'm considering installing a rom with 4 files and pit file, but do not know if this will help in something
Let's see if I can come up with the bug because it is becoming a pain in the ass
:good:
I would try what say Lenny1988. So the only change before solution and after solution, was a big crash on WIFi drivers/app/modem (don't sure) it self, and was deleted all my stored wifi access points that I had. It was a problem related to Wifi power save, if I disabled it then I had no reboots/freezes.
So, I would try a factory wipe and DON'T restore anything, and try for a couple days. If work, then you know a way to solve it.
Tell us if it works.
Hello there! I will update with the latest news!
I tried the recommended advice, but no luck...Not seem to affect him leave without restoring.
The only thing that seems to work and keep it running, is to disable wifi power saving system
you know....
Code:
1. Go to your phone dialer
2. Dial *#0011#
3. When you see the "ServiceMode" screen, press the left menu button
4. Select "WiFi"
5. See that "Wifi Power Save Mode" button that is "ON" - well turn it "OFF"
But this way drain your battery much faster,so it does not seem a good solution to the problem.
Curiously, the same phone, some people suffer this problem and others do not....
It may be hardware? or software?
If I find something, I'll note here.
Regards
