Which registry key or command controls the startup progs in wm6.1? I uninstalled a program but my device still gives error for the missing exe on startup. I can't locate it in the startup folder either.
TIA
The start-up should/has to be in windows>start-up.

* is there a way to remove the program from the startup?
thanks.
Look in Windows\startup you will find the apps that run at startup, delete the shortcut to the app and soft reset the device
Hope this helps[/quote]
Hi
Is there a registry treak that will allow me to remove an icon from the programs folder,
I recently remove a program from the magican but for some reason the icon is still there, any ideas?
Thankx
You need to soft reset to make the icon disappear. Check with your explorer that the file in the programs folder is really gone first - Windows/StartMenu/Programs

Click to collapse
Where is the icon appearing? If it is in the program folder then simply delete it by using explorer \windows\start menu\program.
Hi, have done everything you sugguested,
i even went to the registry and deleted everything that was associated with the program, everything seems to be deleted, the icon that remain isnt the normal icon that is displayed when the program is installed, but rather just a white box with a blue strip across the top with circles and the name of the program under it, if u try to run the program an error notification occurs that the program is missing.
You are descibing what happens when Windows has not updated itself to reflect the deleted program. A soft reset should always force Windows to update. If this is not working for you then try reinstalling the program again and then delete it using the "remove programs" in settings/system then soft reset. If that still does not work then it may indicate that Windows is corrupted and a hard reset may be required.
Wait with hard resetting! You can always navigate to \windows\start menu\programs using file explorer or better total commander and delete the shortcut there. I did the same thing for a orphan shortcut to Egress, which I uninstalled properly from the add/remove menu :?
I just got my first PDA Wednesday, HTC 8525. But this question would be more directed to anyone using Windows Mobile 5. I installed a program thats called "slide to unlock" cool little program, but i tried to erase it but everything erased but one file called Ilock.
Well when i try to erase it it give a message saying:
"Cannot delete ilock: there has been a sharing file violation
The source or destination may be in use"
Thanks in advance to whoever helps.
by the way i did a quick search and didn't find anything. So please no, "use the search button" comments.
Found the problem, it was linked to the program iphone...thank anyways
i understand how it is to be new to this so here you go-
you must always completely terminate a program for it to be completely uninstalled. this can be done in a variety of ways: first is to terminate the program through its own exit command within the program. second, if the program does not have an exit command you can manually terminate the program using 3rd party apps like memmaid and sktools. third would be to check the \windows\startup directory if the program is started upon device startup or soft reset. if the program contains a shortcut or an exe file in the windows startup folder, then manually delete this then do a soft reset.
after all these you should be able to already completely uninstall the app. in the case of iLock, it is said in the program's readme text that tapping on the iLock.exe file once runs the program then tapping it a second time closes the iLock app and shows a windows saying so.
Recently I installed an executable file and it didn't install properly . Everytime I restart my phone I found an error message which says "xxxxx.exe couldn't start...". I tried uninstalling the application, but nothing happens, the message still appears.
How can I disable the service or something to look for this file? It is not in the startup folder. I tried with MemAid cleaning the bad uninstalls, but still nothing. I look for this exe in the registry, and it doesn't appear...
I guess some service is trying to load this exe, how can I find it?
Thankx.
What is a good free startup software program? You know something like msconfig but for wm6(touch screen devices)? Thanks
canceled sorry
you can do it manualy by opening the windows directory with any explorer prog like total command or resco explorer and then go to startup folder
there you will see the list of the programs which startup with windows
delete what you want to remove
i hope that was useful for you
cheers

use memmaid.. it has a start-up editing feature that enables you to:
add/delete startup items
temporarily disable start-up of certain apps
configure/enable/disable startup services (dlls, drivers, etc.. not just programs/exes)
perfect thank you.
