My phone suddenly lost its cellular connection. When I am looking for networks in manual mode the only network that the phone shows is 42503 and when I try to connect to it I just get "no service". I live in Israel and my network is Cellcom with Orange and Mirs GSM networks present. Other SIM card that I tried on this phone (Orange's) gives the same result. My SIM card works on other phone. Other wireless connections (WiFi and Bluetooth) work fine. Any ideas?
Same issue
I contacted both my carrier and HTC, they both agree it's the mainboard that has gone bad.
Have you tried taking the battery out for 10 minutes?
Have you tried a HARD reset?
Mike
on boot up, does the phone display the NO GSM or G NONE error? sounds like a corrupt radio. Check the forums for that... you will find a whole bunch-o-solutions. If it is hardware and you have warranty left, send it.

Got an x10 today off ebay, unlocked after browsing this forum, by htc-code, network shows carrier on home screen, signal shows 4 bars, yet in status it says mobile network state: disconnected, this results in me not being able to get any calls at all, not even a simple balance check, the sim card is pay&go whilst I sort it out but as far as I'm concerned it isn't a data plan issue or anything like that.
Just wondered whether this is an issue anyone knows anything about or whether it's been imei blocked or whether I should just get in touch with tesco.
possibly important info:
Tesco mobile
phone was locked to orange, now unlocked
firmware 1.6
baseband 1.1.25
kernel 2.6.29-rel semc-android semc #2
signal strength -85dbm 14asu
mobile network type utms
service state in service
mobile network state disconnected
Being a pay as you go, the SIM might need activating? Ring your Telco and see what they say.
The sim came out of another phone I've been using for the past 3 years I'll give them a call later to set up a data plan anyway.
Got hold of Tesco, they couldn't solve it, imei isn't blocked or anything, tried and Orange simcard (the network it was originally on) and that works and makes calls, my other sim doesn't make or recieve calls, so it looks like it hasn't been unlocked fully. I need to get hold of htc-code and try to figure out a solution, that is, when they're online. I'll post back with an outcome.
both my x10a and my nexus1 say the same thing, mobile network state disconnected, and my phones work great. i am on wifi now, but when i turn off wifi my phone has no issues with cellular data.
your phone must not be unlocked yet or you might not have entered your apn correctly. make sure the apn is correct for your network and try again
i just turned off wifi and waited for the 3g symbol to reappear and now my mobile network state reads connected. so this indicates if you are attached to the network for data only.
i would still make sure that you manually configure your networks apn settings and then try to make a call. i think i had an issue when i had flashed to a different firmware and had not entered my carriers info.
Thanks for the reply mate, I'll try that seeing as ferraripassion/sudarshan is offline I'll let you know how it goes.
Sort of fixed, manually entering APN puts up 3g symbol and changes mobile network state to connected, even on wap internet, but I still can't make or receive calls on this sim card :/
Thought I'd check the phone on checkmend this morning, although the phone does still work on an orange sim card, checkmend says
Ever blocked UK: This item has been blocked during its lifetime by one or more UK network(s).
IMEI Currently blocked: This item is currently blocked on one or more networks. It may still work on some networks.

So, with that, does anyone have any advice on IMEI unblocking/people to contact and getting my cash back?
Write to matey boy on eBay and get money back. Because clearly, he's sold a non-working phone that's probably been nicked.
I have a unlocked Samsung Focus v1.3 with Mango update. I am a 3G SIM card (Airtel 3G).
Sometimes when I am trying to enable data connection, phone is refusing me to do that. The setting shows data connection ON, but 3G symbol on top does not appear.
This happens even on multiple retries and when signal strength is full. Using the same SIM card I am able to connect to internet using my older Nokia phone without any issue.
The only solution I have been able to find is to soft reset (restart) the phone. Then it is able to enable data connection. I also think that this issue appeared after I updated it to Mango. With stock NoDo update it was working fine (though I had this phone only for 2 weeks before updating to Mango).
Is anybody else also facing this issue?
yes i am having a similar issue with my focus, it is unlocked for use in the UK on o2 but when ever i turn my data on it says its connected i have the 3g symbol and everything but when i try and go on the internet it has not connection to resolve this problem i delete my apn and enter it again but that dose not work sometimes and it is really annoying
many thanks if you can help me
^^ Thanks for confirming that I am not the only one facing this issue. But still it is weird that only a few might be facing this issue.
I am still trying to find out the exact solution, so whenever I find it I will post it here.
APN settings? is the sim card for that device originally?or carrier specific"?

I have used correct APN settings for my Service Provider. Hence on a good day, I am able to connect to Internet. I have also confirmed the settings from CC.
But as I have described earlier, sometimes phone just doesn't turn on data connection. This happens without any specific reason. On other forums too people are reporting the same behaviour.
Same problem here with Movistar in Colombia

That has nothing to with problem I am facing. This setting for radio is for FM radio and not for mobile radio. You might face the issue again. Sorry but that's the truth!
did u try another sim card?
A friend with same data plan?
And another operator sim?
When i changed wifi to data it came to me, there was a app for that first it closes wifi then open data connection. For wifi again, first it closes data connection and opens wifi.
I got same problem. Using unlocked focus with airtel connection india. On a good day the phone will work with gprs/3g just fine. But occasionally connection drops and the phone won't reconnect. I have to manually restart the phone to connect to internet once again. Any solution for this? I guess people in US aren't facing such an issue..
I have the exact same problem. This problem arises only on DATA connections!
Using ATT Samsung Focus v.1.3 on Idea Cellular Sim Card in India
So i have the galaxy s5 16gb model on atat with the latest update and i cant get a sim card to get any network connection at all. I get signal bars on the device sometimes and other times i get a circle with a line through it. I also cannot find a network operator when i go into the mobil network settings. The device wont even let me do emergency calls when i have a sim in but when i take the sim out emergency calls work. This device had both a cracked screen and replaced body because of damages but other then that the device is 100% stock. So anyone here have any ideas also i'll post some pics of the issues.
I have a Galaxy Note 3 with a problem. When i put my sim card in, it asks for SIM PIN and I type it. Then I get "Emergency Calls Only" or "No service. It wont connect to my SIM CARD NETWORK.*
I have tried/Things I know
-Checking Network Operator and select network from there. Tried also "Select Automatically" still nothing happend. It pops out " Registred on network" but it is not.
- I have changed Network Mode from "LTE/WCDMA/GSM" to "WCDMA/GSM", then!! My network comes up in 5 seconds and go to normal again "Emergency Calls only"*
- My IMEI is not blacklisted! It comes up on screen when typing *#06#.
- MY PHONE connects to the 4G perfectly! I get internet to surf from my SIM CARD! It means the phone is actually connected to the phone. BUT why dont it connect to the operator so I can call?
- Also I have saved contacts on my sim card and then sync to the phone, that means that the SIM is connected to the phone.
This is not a hardware problem, I changed the antenna, but still the same problem happend. I believe this is a software problem.
Everything I change between Network Modes, my NetworkOperator came up in the top corner left in 5 seconds and then went to "No service/Emergency calls only"
I have also factory reseted and installed stock firmware from my country.

Is it possible that mobile network signal happen to be poor at the spot where you are?
Hope anyone others below will help you. Anyway, good luck to you.
The signal is full.

So I just received my new essential phone after having a Nexus 6p for 2 years. After setting up the phone with the sim card for T-Mobile in, I get a no service icon in the status bar. I've tried changing the preferred network type, but I don't quite know what I can do. When I try to search for a network, it says "error while searching for network". I'm unsure where to go from here. I know the sim card works because it worked on my Nexus and still does.
Try setting preferred network to global. If that doesn't work check the APN settings.
Maybe the sim isn't sitting correctly in the phone
Yeah, it's one thing to get bad service, another to get no service.
I assume your 6P gets decent service, right? If it was only on 1 bar, then perhaps the Essential can't pick up a signal (it does have issues in weak signal areas).
As mentioned, make sure the SIM is seated correctly and the contact is clean.
If it still says No Service, do a hard reset with the SIM in it, so on first boot, it'll download the standard APN settings.
If that still doesn't work, you can manually set the APN settings yourself.
Finally, the next test would be to try a different SIM (preferably from a different network) and see if that works. It is possible T-Mobile is not letting your device register on your network, in which case you can call them and give them the device IMEI. Otherwise, your unit is defective.
