Flashing amber led - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

MDA Vario II on T-Mobile uk WM6 T-Mob standard rom. Have had no probs for over a month, then its started acting a bit weird, i no longer get the flashing amber led after i get a sms/mms or missed call, just the standard green. Amber still works for charging tho but i keep missing sms's and missed calls. Out of interest Bluetooth blue still works too. anyone know if there is a reg entry that deals with this? I know you can turn all the leds off but didn't see anything that looked helpful in the registry in that entry.
TIA, Matt.

Not really sure if this will help or not, but if you own SK-Tools, I'd recommend that you do an Advanced Clean (especially for the Notifications Queue), and a Registry Optimization. Sometimes those two modules fix little idiosyncracies on my device.
If this doesn't do the trick, you might want to do a FullBackup->HardReset->FullRestore cycle, and see if that gets your lights going.
HTH,

Thx dude, yeah went down the hard reset path pain in the a** but it worked.
Cheers for the advice.

TMob 4.01.16 - Keeps on turning itself on

Hi All,
Just a few issues I'm having with the T-Mob 4.01.16 ROM, anyone else? Anyone got any ideas on fixes?
1 - Keeps on turning itself on (i've confirmed that active sync has no schedule). People have suggested for the known bug in XDAII to kill the activesync process
2 - Text message on-screen alert, doesn't turn the XDA screen on
Cheers - Steve
Somebody else was having a similar problem but thought it was the sim toolkit causing it.
It's doing this to me as well.
Seemed worse when I ran the tAgenda today plugin, but it didn't completely stop when I removed it.
If enough of T-Mobiles customers notice it and complain there should be a fix coming out soon enough. Or perhaps it is not there if you run the T-Mobile applications that came with the ROM?
My turn-ons seem tied to the schedule that Inbox goes out to check the email. whenever the screen comes on and I go look, Inbox is in the middle of an email download.
I have tried re-flashing the ROM and making no modifications to it, it still turns on on a regular basis.
This has been a problem at some point for all PocketPC based devices, my old Cassiopea, Compaq and Dell have all done this at some point (fixed by ROM update eventually). Oh well, waiting once more won't kill me, but will kill my battery.
The problem does not seem to exist in the AT&T Rom, but it is a common thing in the TMOs beta and this latest release. It is bad when you leave the phone and it redials the last number called ( either in or out!)
Also the SD card does get erased, even when formatted in BACKUP FAT and named properly. The best cure is to keep it locked until you need to add or remove something from it and keep a back up of the SD in a folder in your PC.
My wife is getting jealous of the amount of time I spend tinkering with my XDA 1 and 2 phones and shows off her simple phone!
If nobody beats me to it I will compare the registry settings of the 30.09 and the 4.01.16 to see if I can find anything.
bamse: If you find anything to do with the fading volume in the AT&T rom whilst traulling through the reg, and can remove the "feature" from the AT&T rom you would simply be classed as a LEGEND!
The T-Mo rom still doesn't seem to be as slick as the AT&T (if only it didn't have that stupid fading volume)
Cheers
Neil
Mine keeps switching itself on as well (4.01.00 ENG) - I had always thought that it was something to do with hitting the power switch when I put it into my trouser pocket, as it has powered up when I return to my desk and take it out again. Although it seems hard to see how the power button can be accidentally pressed when putting the XDA into a pocket, especially when the button is below the contour of the case.
I would be interested to find out why this is happening.
I also noticed that the vibrate function no longer works. I have the following setting configured: "Settings, Phone, Sounds, Ring Type: Vibrate" and my XDA does not vibrate when it rings. Then I pressed the side volume button and selected vibrate (the icon next to the time changes to a vibrating XDA), and it still will not vibrate. Setting other notifications to "vibrate" also does not work.
I seem to remember it vibrating when I had an earlier ROM version (3.20.06 ENG), but not in this current ROM version (T-Mobile 4.01.00 ENG).
Can someone please confirm that I have the settings correct?
I have now installed PocketZenPhone, and it also does not work for vibrate, although other users of this program report no vibrate issues. PZP is a great program, it works really well.
I think there maybe a vibrate bug in this current ROM version (T-Mobile 4.01.00 ENG).
Has anyone had anything like this happen to them, or heard of others who have?
Thanks,
A few more observations on the T-Mob ROM;
- GPRS does not have a disconnect button, the AT&T ROM had this feature, very handy
- My signal appears to be much less stable with the T-Mob ROM
I'm going to roll back to the AT&T and put up with the volume clipping, it's far better than an unstable device, that you can't disconnect the GPRS on without turning the radio off+on & keeps on turning itself on!

Notification will not go away!!!

I have tried SK Tools, and even that did not get rid of it. I can seem to get rid of this notification at all. I did a soft reset last night at dinner because it was running slow, then all of a sudden, it just kept vibrating every 3-4 minutes but there is no notification message coming up on the screen.
It stopped for a while later in the evening, but started again this morning at 7 which is when I had my OLD alarm set for, now there is no alarm. Still showing me the notification light (orange) though.
Turned off all alarms, all vibrating notifications, and the phone is on ring. Still vibrates every so often for no reason, and the orange light at the top is blinking every 3 seconds....
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks,
John
Just to check you cleared all duplicates in the notifications queue using Sktools?
Did you perform a soft reset on completing the removal (sometimes doing this too soon stops the changes) ?
Have the duplications and any scheduled alarms actually gone from the queue?
Mike
Heh, I am like mikechannon's follow-up poster today
Anyway, I find SK Tools a little confusing to use for this.
Just to verify, did you do BOTH steps of...
1. Mark duplicates and
2. Delete all marked
How many dupes did it mark?
Hi,
Is this a notification in relation with phone? If yes, are you using PhoneAlarm? PhoneAlarm will keep to harass you with the notification as long as you have not clicked on the icon corresponding to the notification (and that normally indicates "1" telling that you have a waiting notification) in order to open it and to dismiss it. I do not know if this is the problem but since it is a possible source, I wanted to point it.
Good luck!
Murat
Hi, I don't know if this will be of any help, but i installed some Chinese character software which turned out to be for WM2003 instead of WM5 and that started playing havoc with my notifications in the same way (they wouldn't go away). But once i removed it, everything went back to normal. So perhaps this could be due to you either using foreign language software, or something for WM2003 or both. Good luck with it

LED's on T-Mobile MDA make no sense

hey everyone,
I have a T-mobile MDA. All the info I can give is whats in the About section which is "Windows Mobile Version 5.0 OS 5.1.195 (Build 14955.2.3.0)" and processor is OMAP850-195Mhz"
Now the problem I found was that the little LED for the power and bluetooth made no sense. I would receive a text message, save it as read, clear my memory and it would not give up blinking until several hours or until i restarted my smartphone.
Does anyone know the source of this or a way to make it correct? I go to bed with the light blinking orange and wake up with the light still blinking while nothing happens. it gets annoying because i dont know if i missed a call or received a text message or something.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
P.S. I searched the forums for this problem but have failed to find anything relevant so I appologize if this is a report.
Are you sure that it's not blinking green? Most, if not all PPC's blink a green light when they are on just to show you that they are on when the lcd shuts off.
I actually have the problem that you described where mine wouldn't stop blinking orange even after I had read the only sms I had recieved at the time, but it only happened once and has never happened again. My guess is that it's a registry setting that's not resetting itself after reading the sms like it's supposed to. I've read where other people have a most likely related issue where the new sms icon stays on their screen instead of just the light flashing like that. I'm not sure that there's a way to fix a sticky registry setting though without a hard reset or reflashing the ROM.

Notification LED problems

Can anyone teach me how to enable the blinking of notification led in green colour in usual status?
Like those blinking in ELFIN etc.
THX
Hi
Do you mean have it flash all the time to show the phone is on and connected to the network?
If yes I don't think you can.

Phil

I 've seen a video that Topaz is blinking all the time when Topaz is running in Windows 6.5 Platform
there might have been a new message or missed call etc.

Maybe you allready gave the answer: It might be in the WM6.5 rom.
As far as i know it's not possible with WM6.1, there is allready a thread about this is this forum, just use search.
Generaly, most people have the blinking green LED to indikate missed calls, new SMS or new E-mail. I use it for those things, so having it do showing network availability aswell is just pointless.

In older HTC phones, (pre Diamond1), the LED flashed green to indicate GSM connectivity (signal) and would flash orange in case of notifications. Also the same LED would flash red in case of low battery.
I also would have liked it to be flashing green for connectivity & orange for notifications/low battery. As it would be easier to know weather you are connected or not, since the sreen is mostly off.
Or perhapps i can suggest, if some developer would like to to do it, to make the phone flash orange (same as low battery) in case there is no signal.

Pointless to you but not to others.
I'd find it very useful to know if the phone's actually "on-line" without firing it up. The radio sometimes goes AWOL even in a good signal area, it would be nice to know when this happens. In a weak signal area it helps you put the phone down in a location where it actually works.
It's been on every phone I've owned and suddenly it's no longer fashionable with HTC...

Message LED always flashing?

I have searched, and read a ton of info, but I have not noticed a solution to this problem.
I recently had to swap to a new 6800 under warranty. When the new one gets text message, the yellow LED flashes and usually does not shut off after I read the new message.
This is terribly annoying since I never know when I really have a new message. I can only make it go away when I reset the phone..
Any help is greatly appreciated!!
Dan
Hey Dan. Do you have an unheard voicemail? Sometimes eventhough I have read all of my texts or emails, the LED will still flash until I have listened to my VM.
The easiest way to combat your excessive LED flashing is to use a small program called nueLED. It allows you to turn off any or all of your LEDs. Obviously, you want the Notification LED to flash, so whenever it gets stuck flashing, open the nueled program and select the extras tab and select reset LEDs.
Check it out. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=371391&highlight=nueled

Hey buddy, every once in awhile that happens to me. Its a little bug of some sorts. Here is how I get it to stop flashing without a soft reset.
Go to start/settings/personal tab/sounds and notifications/Notifications tab. And then simply click OK, no need to change anything. This will make it stop flashing.
Since this is a new phone as of a few weeks ago, could this be running MR2? Could that be the issue?
Old phone = GPS working. New phone = not at all...
Meh

MR1 and MR2 both break GPS as far as I've read (I don't have Verizon so no actual experience there).

GPS will work on MR1/2 if you set it up right.
Hmm I just had this happen for maybe the 3rd time since I've had the phone yesterday. Someone called me, didn't even leave a message, and the light kept blinking. I already read the notification saying I had missed a call.
Now that I think of it, the only times this has happened is since I started using RM 1.1 Light...
Actually the 213017b ROM works great with the correct carrier cab. I had this problem till I got this ROM. Have you tried it'?
I have not tried any roms other than MR1 which the GPS worked on.
Does anyone know the start up version numbers for the MR1 and MR2 update? If my phone is running MR2 I am going back to MR1 ASAP.
The lack of GPS and this silly always blinking message led are driving me nuts.
GPS works on both MR1 and MR2. Also the extra led blinking is not a problem with MR1 or MR2. It just happens sometimes.

I used to have it happen a lot as well. I already mentioned my way to get the flashing to stop on the first page. But one thing I did notice is that with my newest 6.1 build 21054 it hasnt happened once. I have had the ROM on my phone for over a month. So I am guessing its a problem with some of the older builds based on my experiences.
Yes, I have been using your solution for the time being. I then swapped to a BB storm (free upgrades for me and my girl) and couldn't stand the operating system so I went back to my 6800 and got her a omnia. WM FTW.
You should consider the TP2 if you want a new phone. It is a great one
Yes, that's a great phone and will pick one up sooner or later.
Update, out of frustration of two things:
The message LED flashing mostly all the time
and
my phone becoming unresponsive randomly yesterday
.. I went back to MR1 and all is well again.
