Gigino
get a agile messenger. its free and supports msn, yahoo, aim etc. its the best!
gigno, i had the same problem with Vodafone on the v1640. I managed to get them to pay the £10.99 for the download from microsoft by telling them that their competitors (o2 and orange) were including MSN messenger, and that i could have gotten the device from them.
What i would sugest is call T Mobile, and try to get them to credit you the £10.99.
Also, your device is a Universal, not a magician

Free? I don't think so:
"Agile Messenger costs €2.99 per month charged by premium SMS.
You may also purchase Agile Messenger from 2checkout for €19.95 one time." is stated at their download page.
This one is really free:

Read the page again, this time thoroughly. If you have troubles finding the word "free", try to search in the page (Ctrl-F)
The "basic" version is free, the have an enterprise version which has to be licensed.
Cheers, Mundl

Yes it is absolutely free when your handheld is connected to internet via bluettoth or wireless. You are only charged €2.99 per month when you connect to internet using your simcard.
here it is

"You may use the car free as long as you put no petrol in it"
Why should I connect to other wireless or bluetooth devices, when I have GPRS in my Magician? To make my life complicated?
This is a major drawback compared to the MSN Messenger and IMOV Messenger.
well i think it depends on how you use it. when im downstairs, i cant bring my pc with me so i connect my magician to be able to know who of my friends are online. when im in bed,my pc is next door so i also use my magician to chat with friends. agile messenger works great for me.. it might not for others.
its everyone's own choice
messenger
messenger is installed at my magican but it won't connect neither by gprs or bluetooth... keep saying my password or username are wrong... and it isn't i can surf over the internet and it did work ever...
what is wrong about my settings? i also have installed bluesolei to connect with my pc by PAN (it changes a lot in internet)
also agile messenger doesn't work
what's the best Messenger app?
I've tried the following.
- WebMessenger: sucks cause you have to login to there server and rely on them to connect to AIM, YMSG, Etc
- Agile Messenger: font is way to small to read and use.
- AOL's AIM Pocket Pc: old app for 2003, works nicely but boots off other desktop connection. It needs to be updated.
- OZ IM: Doesn't work unless you have T-zone
any others i can try?
AgileMessenger is the best. IF you find that font too small, change your glasses.
i use verichat by pdaapps.com. I like that one alot. have tried most of the others, and think this one is the best.

I personally use Verichat...but quite honestly, I'm thinking about switiching back to the good ol Hiptop for reliability reasons (geez..did I just say "hiptop" and "reliability" in the same sentence without a negative precursor?).
If you could email me AIM PPC 2003, I'll email you back a cookie . Seriously, I'll hook ya up with something if it will work for me. I dl'd AIM off the UK site, and there was no bottom bar...which meant I could be online, but not go away, etc. Highly disappointing.
how can i make it so i can use agile over EDGE?.. im only able to make it work over WiFi.
the new agile beta is great, I use it on edge!

Can you pls provide more details... do you have Full Internet plan with T-Mo? or are u using T-MobileWeb ($5.99) plan?
I have T-MobileWeb and near Detroit area, Agile does not work over GPRS/EDGE (I get EDGE here). Only works over WiFi
yeah i only have the 5.99 tmobile web plan. and can not get that to work using EDGE. is that why?
I have just upgraded from the HTC Wizard to the TyTN which is an orange branded device I have removed (stopped) the orange customization, but I seem to be missing the MSN part of windows. I've looked on the windows mobile 5 web site, msn web site, but can't find where to down load it. any ideas?
Thanks to all the great information this site has provided I was able to completly open my wizard thanks to this site alone!!!! job well done!!!!
...Isn't msn embedded in wm5, mine is. It's called: pmsnlauncher.exe. I attache one but don't know if it's working standalone...
I just moved from the M2000 to the M3100 today and was dismayed to find no msn messenger pre-installed.
Seemingly it will not let me install Agile Messenger either, as it says that it is not supported.
I have discovered a link in the files which takes you to msn Mobile but then tries to charge you 10.99 to install it. Is there anyway around this, as I use msn a lot whilst travelling, yet loathed to paying for something I expected for free.
Any help?

You need to app-unlock the 3100 before you can install Agile. Once you've done that, it works fine.
To app unlock it, use a registry editor to set the following registry keys (these are decimal values, use 1 and 40 if you're inputing them in hex):
HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001001 = 1
HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001005 = 64
For some reason people haven't had much success with other registry editors, so I would recommend Resco's, which I can vouch for through experience.
Yep - installed it on my M3100 today.
Here's a link on how to do it:
http://www.coolsmartphone.com/news2266.html
Follow the instructions exactly:
1) Download and install the WM2002 client
2) Download and install the WM2003 update
presto it works!
I managed to get a pre-registered Pocket MSN by copying files over from my dusty old HP I don't use anymore.
Files copied:
pmsnshared.dll
pmsnserver.exe
pmsnresources.dll
pmsnresources.96.dll
pmsnlauncher.exe
pmsnhotmail.dll
pmsn.lnk
pmsn.cpl
Needed to remove the system file attribute to copy it over though. I guess this is helpful if you have a copy of a pre-installed Pocket MSN lying around that you don't use anymore!

Or just go here and download and install it normally.....

Here is Windows Mobile Live Messenger for PPC.

Yeah, but if you use this link you have to pay £10.99 to use a program that everyone uses for free...

Yeap it is, i've been using it since three days now had no problem.
Hi All,
I downloaded Mobile Live and Messenger from this forum, and was able to install it on my Orange M3100. I then hook up my M3100 to my work wifi. I then run Live, and comes up saying "looking for internet connection" It then comes up with the bubble saying connecting to 3G, which I then hit cancel. It then seems to use the wifi connection the syncronise. Also when using it it, the 3G connection bubble appears regularly, and I have to cancel it. Is there any way I can stop Windows Live and messenger using the 3G service, and just WiFi?
thank
Nick

am actually after the hotmail part of the program than the other bits. i copied all the above files from my m5000 to the m3100 when you click on pmsnluncher nothing happens. what am i doing wrong. please note there are other solutions to get msn messager working, but this dosn't include the hotmail setup. ..help
That guy is missing a few files there, just to let you know.
oh great !!!!!!!!!
can't wait for the beta fto end to i can't get the damm thing.
oh by the way you wouldn't know what the other files are would you?
Windows Live Messenger Mobile is still down, with no end in sight. I really haven't had a chance to look at the newsgroups lately to find out what's going on, but I guess I'll have to.
at least i can give Yahoo Go some credit here, thier ppc client program works pecfectlyon my m3100 collecting all my yahoo emails.. let just hope google follow suite with a client version for picking up emails on the ppc.
Gmail supports pop / smtp access, and uses non-standard ports, so you can use pocket outlook to retrieve / send emails on it without problems.
Hi. I'm looking into buying the new Trinity (p3600i) in Australia here. My question is, can I hook the phone up to my wifi network, then use Skype and MSN on the wifi network, and not have to use the internet from the phone service provider? Those would cost too much to download even just my mails.
yes that is the purpos of wifi
much like people do with laptop and desktops with wifi
yep, also to download any pop3 mails via the wifi (e.g. Gmail)
You can even control your desktop computer's media using your phone... (I'm seriously so in love with that)
How about installing VNC or some way to control my desktop from the Trinity?

Hola,
My built in MSN Messenger is refusing to connect for some reason. It worked when the phone was new, but I guess some ROM/Radio/program I installed pushed this already fragile program too hard.
I installed "Agile Messenger", which works quite well, but they require an absurd price for a subscription.
Is there any such program that can emulate the MSN Messneger functionality that is free or at least not outrageously priced?
Use Palringo, @+
send me a download link pls and ivwe been on the website, im not sure whether to clik the mobile one of the blakberry one...and is it ok to put my mobile number in? and they wont charge me anyfin?

try to disable your proxy at the connections settings.. that worked for me with MSN that doesn't connect.
greetz
Use Fring to solve all this problem..
how about web live messenger?
http://mobile.live.com/wlm
I usually use this link rather than the live messeger ... this is a lot faster , and uses less bandwidth. Just that it wont pop up msg, you need to press REFRESH ...
