htc shift cdma frequencies - Shift General

hi!
I saw that the cdma version of shift is on 850Mhz frequency... is there any possibility to change this freqvency in 450Mhz ?

Audiovox SMT5600 850MHz to 900MHz??

Hi, I have an Audiovox SMT5600 but my network band is 900 MHz.
Can somebody tell me whether it is a hardware difference between SPV C500 (GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900) and Audiovox SMT5600 (GSM 850 / 1800 / 1900) or is it just the GSM Rom??? I have read the thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=241435) which explains how to upload the QTEK rom, but it didn't work for me.
I have found the following explanation but it doesn't say whether it is hardware difference or just a different GSM rom.
"The SMT5600 is a tri-band phone that works on the 850/1800/1900MHz bands, which means it will work anywhere in the US where GSM service is available. In the US AT&T uses both the 850MHz and 1900MHz bands, as does Cingular. 1800MHz is used in Asia and somewhat in Europe, though Europe is mostly 900MHz. If you plan to travel to Europe, the SMT5600 should provide some coverage, but you might want to consider a quad band phone which adds 900MHz. The overseas versions of the SMT5600 (iMate SP3 and Orange C500) are triband world phones with 900/1800/1900 MHz coverage which means they'll work in Europe, Asia and in the US though you'll miss the 850MHz coverage used by AT&T/Cingular."
If changing a GSM Rom is the solution, where can I find the 900 MHz Rom and what is the procedure to flash it? Can I just use the Typhoon tools and perform an Emergency Flash for the GSM part or do I have to replace the complete ROM (like with mtty)?

The radio freq's are hardware, not software to my knowlege. AT&T Cingular in the USA have moved to using the 850 MHz band for HSDPA data packets and 1900MHz for voice. Since the SMT5600 does not support HSDPA, therefore the low band is not used. If your market is 900MHz only, then your phone will not handle it. In essence you would need the European version of the iMate or Orange version. Otherwise, you are constrained to 1800 MHz.
OK, but then what about kamscam's explanation in the thread I mentioned above (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=241435)? He claims that flashing the phone with the QTEK Rom will do the trick.

I have the iMate 2.4.33.11 ROM if you want to try it. I believe it is WM2003 OEM Rom for the SP3 (Typhoon).
If the claim is true that he changed an 850 MHz phone to 900 MHz and it worked, then this would seem to indicate that the phone may be Quadband but the Radio ROM only operates as Triband with the 1800/1900 always on and the 850/900 as selectable. This may be a possibility, but I still have my doubts. I still believe there is a different hardware radio for the 850 MHz and 900 MHz models.

There is hardware difference in C500 and STM5600 which runs on 850. Difference is in switchplexer which in European models filters 900 and 1800/1900 MHz (Murata HA 165) and in STM 5600 (Audiovox) filters 850 and 1800/1900 MHz (Murata HA 216AW). You have to change switchplexer on the board if you want 900 MHz on Audiovox
OK, I guess this concludes the story. I have actually suceeded in flashing a different GSM Rom (Qtek) but the phone still couldn't pick up the signal.

LEO RADIO - 3G HDSPA 850 Mhz

Sorry if this doesn't go here but I have a question for the gurus from XDA, so here is the deal.
Recently in Costa Rica we got our 3G network released, but they chose HSDPA/WCDMA at 850 MHZ.
I was going to get an HD2 but due to it's bands I think I can't now. At some store they told me that it was possible to flash a different Radio version that will enable the 850 band.
I tought that the radio frequency was a hardware driven setting but I guess my question is if this is TRUE.
Can it be flashed to make it work

I ask, because last time I had a UMTS phone with me and I heard only UMTS will work. Data spec doesnt mention UMTS anymore.

I have used my HD2 in Tokyo with no problems. It is a quad band on the GSM freq 850/900/1800/1900, but the 3G (HSDPA) is on the 900/2100 freq. 2100 is what Japan and Korea use, and I have used it in both places.

Are all HD2 around the world 900/2100? It seems USA isn't using this band for 3G, or is it?
Do you get HSDPA in Japan?

[Q] [REQ] Hero Telstra Radio

Hi,
Seeing as most heroes including mine are on the GSM band of 900MHz and not the 850MHz that for some reason Telstra decided to use in rural areas, is it possible to flash another radio to 'unlock' (right word?) the 850MHz band to allow HSDPA speeds for me as opposed to the Edge network?
If this is possible, does anyone know where to get the radio for this?

its not possible, as the hero radio hardware itself is not capable of 850mhz umts/3g band.
Unfortunately, theres no way to simply 'unlock' it, as it doesnt exist.

So very wrong! Are you serious? You know there is more than one version of the Hero right? Euro, NAM, AU, and CDMA. NAM and AU have 850MHz UMTS.
What about the Telus or Telstra hero's? They use 850 in Canada and in Australia. Why would those carriers sell the Hero if it doesn't have the correct freq for their network? I have a Telus Hero and it has 850UMTS. Seriously, if you don't know the answer, don't say anything.
In my experience the best Radio file for good 850 Reception is the 09.26 radio. If you search you will find it.

No, it won't. The HW says 900/2100, SW won't change that.
Because they're douches. Mine is also the 900/2100, else I would've suggested a swap. :V

as has been made clear, he has an Australian Hero which only has 900/2100 3g bands. I probably should have stated I was assuming that when I posted my comment.
The Hero was never sold via carriers in Australia, only through electronic retailers, hence Telstra never actually sold the phone.

MTK6589T radio 900Mhz band why some devices have it and others not?

Hi all!
Why there's MTK6589T devices with the WCDMA 900Mhz band supported and others not?
I think that the radio is embeeded into the processor and I can't understand why the specs of some mobile phones are different in this aspect.
What are limiting the implementation of the frequency used?
