I am having problem with my jasjar. About half the time when the device is soft reset it comes up with a "no service" icon even in an area with active service. I cannot make a call at that time. Even I cannot put the phone into `flight mode' or turn off the phone connection using the wireless manager. Further soft reset works sometimes but not always.
Looks like a software bug as if I do a hard reset. It comes up fine. Could you please let me any fix available for this issue. I am fed up of hard resetting.
Thanks in anticipation
Arun
Try flashing original shipped rom.

I have not experienced this problem until last week. The MDA2 just hangs in between tasks, when idle, or when in suspend mode, but I can still see the green signal led blinking. I can actually call the phone but don't hear it ringing nor can answer it. What I have discovered is that it last a bit longer if I keep the phone application on the foreground. But still it will hang eventually. :x
I tried to hard reset it and use factory defaults but same thing happens, I even tried some other SIM cards, same results, I even tried using it without any SD memory... same thing....
Any ideas?
Somebody recommend me to install a newer firmware, but how come it was working fine and all of a sudden it developed this problem? I don't belive the problem is that it's a Microsoft OS, since even a hard reset does not clear the problem... :?:
Thanks!
Rayan
I don't know why I'm having this problem but at least twice a day I have to soft reset my phone because of a program not closing or opening "hanging" the phone in state where nothing works. I also have to soft reset because of bluetooth problems. Sometimes the phone will tell me that it doesn't have bluetooth hardware or I won't be able to open the bluetooth window to turn it on or off or discoverable. Then I must reset to get it to work. What a pain! These problems are driving me nuts and I don't know what to do about it. I am considering abandoning this phone because of it's unreliability but it has so many features that it's hard to let it go. Please help me!
First of all - don't abandon the phone; this is NOT normal behavior for this PDA/phone and there should be a solution to your problems. I have had this phone (i-mate) for months, and it has always been stable and trustworthy.
Next, it would be helpful for you to post your current ROM information - (Start -> Settings -> System -> Device Information)
Next, list the programs you have installed.
Have you tried Hard Resetting the device (after backing it up) and using it for a while without installing ANY additional software? This will tell you if the base hardware/software is performing correctly. If that works, try installing any additional software ONE AT A TIME and using the device for a while after each one to make sure that one works. Then, if that one is OK, install the next one. This should pinpoint any software that causes the problems.
Let us know the results of your tests.
1. When did you last HardReset? - Sometimes a few hours of work make your life really better!
2. What's the ROM version? - Possibly you should upgrade.
3. Did you notice that you are using WindowsMobile2003 - usage of internet connection with WindowsXP without a couple of restarts never happened to me, so I don't expect Windows Mobile work with more stability! Kidding!
Conclusion: don't give up the phone - you just have to make clear what goes wrong! Good luck!
Nope, not normal usage. I've been using my i-mate for 2 weeks without a hard reset now, but just today it hard resetted on me (due to wisbar advance 2.) I'm not sure how wisbar does it, but it always gives me problems w/ it installed.
my observations
I'm a new user of the XDA I, and I find that I haven't had any unexpected hard resets yet (fingers crossed) but that I do need to soft reset at least once per day, usually to get the machine to (re)connect thru ActiveSync...
I only get the dreaded, continious soft reset problem when I install loads of crappy software.
Have you installed any share/freeware latetely.
If so only a hard reset will fix it.
SoftResets are tolerated, HardReset - once upon 2-3 months. If more often or auto - change the ROM. Auto HardReset happened to me twice - always after flashing.
My Qtek 9100 will go to sleep and then the phone portion will not wake up. Happens especially when I am in a bad reception area but is not cured when I go back to a good reception area. Only solution is to reboot and it works fine. I did a hard reset and I am having the same problem so I do not believe it is due to any software I am using. I am using it with a Cingular SIM.
Any ideas?
Instead of soft resetting, try switching flight mode on, wait a few seconds and turn it off. Many folks have found this beats doing the soft reset. Inshallah they'll fix this with a ROM update.
I tried that and it does not seem to fix the problem reliably.
mine was doing the exact same thing. i found that if i went to start and then chose "phone" or by pressing the send button, I got my service back. I noticed this especially after using a program that closes all apps. when the "phone" app closed then no service.
Can someone help me... I installed the Helmi wm6 Rom and did not let sprint customization run. The device works fine for several days then it will freeze and i have to do a soft reset. Problem is that after the soft reset i only get to the wm splash screen. i wind up doing a hard reset to recover. I use spd back up to restore my files but its becoming a pain. Is this a known bug? Is there another rom release i should be using instead. The slideout keyboard also seems to have a bug when using to type a document. there is a 1-2 second lag in pressing of keys and letters appearing on screen.
In my experience I have noticed that when active sync is still running on my apache, (or it has only been unplugged from my pc for a few minutes,) and I soft reset or change the battery, it will lock up and only a hard reset will fix it. go to settings> system> memory> running programs and stop active sync before a soft reset. seems to work for me
I used helmi's stock WM6 rom when it first came out, and I was plagued with the green screen hang. I've been using rob mayer's WM6 ROMs for months and no hangs. Go get it:

for some reason, my mogul stopped working properly. When I turn it on\soft reset, it boots but nothing connects. The network coverage shows as no connection (I am at home where it is usually at 100%), the data connection shows up as not connected and when I plug it to my computer, the usb does nothing (it is not even detected!!!!).
When I open my contacts, it opens up but remains blank (what????), when I open the start menu, it freezes. Most of my buttons stopped working.
I have not changed anything in the past month as far as settings of software.
wtf! anyone, please help!
hate to state the obvious, but have you tried a soft reset? If thats not working did you try a hard reset?
Did you install/change anything recently?
soft reset a bazillion times.... I don't really want to hard reset because I want to keep all my files so I am trying to avoid the hard reset.
so I just updtaed my radio rom hoping that was the problem, but unfortunately it is still doing the same.

If this is current:
HTC P4000 (mogul\titan\ppc6800)
Telus Mobility
SPL olipro 2.40
Radio: 3.42.3
DCD rom 3.23
I would suggest the latest DCD ROM and make sure you run the latest carrier cab when you are done. The only thing that usually locks mine up is being out of memory. What apps are you running all the time?
I did a hard reset
My carrier cab and radio rom were up to date. My ram was not the issue, I run with anywhere from 17-22mb free at all times.
I still have no idea what caused it after 3 months of flawless operation, i just hope it does not happen again.

If you did the hard reset I would upgrade to 3.2.6 now. 3.3.x may still be a while off and you can at least get a great stable ROM now.
Mine just started locking up when using SMS . This is after 4 months of flawless operation, now everytime I txt someone it locks up the phone I can't get out of sms or do anything until I pull the battery. Any ideas what might be causing this . Nothing has been changed on my phone in 2 months and this just started a week ago.
