Another ActiveSync Problem - Touch CDMA General

Had to hard reset.
All good but I Restored using Sprite Backup and now the Touch won't sync.
Yet I can Explore and use MyMobiler just fine.
What I know: The backup had me listed as Jim_thibode2.
Now ActiveSync shows Jim_thibode1. Might this be the problem? If so anybody know how to resolve this issue?
I tried removing and reinstalling ActiveSync. No change. I tried another hard reset and again the Touch is fine until I do a Restore.
Anybody know how I get ActiveSync to recognize the Touch? The Touch shows "Connected" in the activeSync window. I can access files through "Explore".
Now ActiveSync shows "Guest"

Thanks to Sprite tech support the Touch is back to normal.
Thank you Sprite tech support. They answered my email very quickly and supplied step by step (easy) directions.

In case other users have this problem, could you post the steps on fixing this problem? Thanks!

Here you go:
Thank you for contacting Sprite Software. When you restore the backup file to the device we also restore the ActiveSync partnership details. Please follow these steps to correctly restore your device and produce a detailed Log report;
a) Hard reset your device
b) Connect the device to the PC via a GUEST ActiveSync partnership - click Cancel when requested to create a partnership
c) Click Tools> Add/Remove Programs on the Activesync window, select Sprite Backup and click OK to install
d) Open Sprite Backup on the device and tap Options> Help> Logs
e) Change the Log Level to Debug and close the Log page
f) Return to main page
g) Tap Restore and follow the steps to select your backup file.
h) Continue with the Restore

Active Sync Problem

I had a crash on my MDA II so I had to make a reset. After the boot process and installing all the standard programs I connected it with my PC. But I was not able to use an old partnership.
So I have to configure it all again
How can I use the old partnership that I must not reconfigure my MDA II?
PS: Yeah I forgot to make a backup
why do you need to use the old patnership?
Sorry I totally forgot my post here. Very stressful last week.
I thought with the old partnership all programms will be installed automatically.
And is it possibly to make kind of a backup with active sync to restore everything with syncing after a crash?
if you have set activesync to backup
and you hardreset
and connect the device to the pc
and pick guest
and pick restore from <insert old patnership name here>
your device will get restore it settings and programs
thx i will try that

Activesync Restoration Please Help

Hi All,
Good Evening.
Do you guys know how can I restore Activesync on my Universal. I accidentally deleted the Activesync icon on the programs using total commander. Now it doesn't sync up anymore with my PC.
Is there any registry setting in the Universal that I can clean up or files that I can delete in order to install a new copy of activesync.
Or any steps that I need to follow to get it synched up again.
Please help.
I ended up using the clear storage button in the programs. Now it is in sync all I have to do is re-install the other softwares that I previously have.

Backup and Activesync

I, and some others on here, have run into a problem. With a proplerly syncing 8125 and using Activesync 4.1 or newer, installing third party software has caused us to lose our Activesync connections. An error message comes up which tells the user to check the Activesync troubleshooting guide. Four of us that I know of have run into this problem. We can still 'explore' our devices and we are 'connected' to our PCs, but we cannot sync nor can we install or remove programs. In fact, going into settings > system > add/remove programs, one no longer sees the installed programs in the list.
It appears the only remedy is to do a hard reset and start the process of creating a new partnership over again.
Here is my question. I will be getting a third party back up program (I was thinking about sprite - it appears to get better reviews then spb - feedback appreciated). I will backup my device and sd card. If the problem arises again, what do I do about the backup of the Activesync and the partnership that existed assuming the same problem arises? Do I restore everything or everything but the Activesync? Can someone help a newbie please?
Thanks in advance!

activesync to same PC after hard reset and backup-restore

I need a little help.
After a crash I hardresetted my Hermes and then used SK Tools to return to a backup point. But now when I try to activesync I get a message on my PC saying that the mobile device has already synced with another PC and it requests a new name for this PC.
I haven't synced with another PC. What should I do ?
When I restore from a hard reset, I normally delete the existing activesync partnership and set this up again with the restored device. Did you delete that partnership?
how can I delete existing partnership ?
In activesync on the pc just go File->Delete Mobile Device.
At least that's how I do it
This is the other way.
I need to delete it from WM5 device.
I guess I found it. I enter Activesync software on PPC and delete the relationship there...

Need help with activesync on Win XP SP3!

Hi.
Some days ago i had a problem synchronize my HTC with PC in activesync (pc could not detect HTC), so i decided to reinstall it, but that doesnt solve my problem, instead of i now getting this message "To synchronize this device, you must install 4.5 or newer on your desktop computer." but i already have activesync version build (5096). Then i tried this: Soft reset, Hard reset, tried unistall activesync again - but that doest worked ! Maybe somene know how i can solve this, I'll be very grateful.
if you want to take the small risk, try removing all traces of Activesync connection from your PC and from HTC:
On PC:
1. search for this folder (or similar):
\\Documents and Settings\...your user name...\Application Data\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profiles\
inside it should be folder with your device name - remove it,
or just remove everything there
2. in registry remove all entries under the key (not the key):
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\Partners
On HD2:
3. It would be good to make full system backup first, or at least PIM data (contacts, appointments etc.) backup
4. DON'T remove connections in ActiveSync application or you'll lose all your PIM data
5. in registry remove all entries under the keys (not the key):
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Partners
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\Partners
6. you could aslo delete all contents inside Windows\ActiveSync folder - not sure if this is necessary but will not harm you
now restart both your PC and HD2, connect the cable and it should be just like the first time those two have met,
hope it'll work
