Using A2DP I can hear all of the notifications, music and audio goodies on my phone. But when the phone rings and I have my BT headset (Jabra 8040) paired the default 'ring' tones start in my ear rather than my ringtone and voice announcements.
The hands-free profile is muting the A2DP to do this nasty ring. Any way I can stop it from muting the A2DP so I can still hear my notifications and custom ringtones in my earpiece?

Hey Joel,
do you mean the annoying "Jabra ringtone" that you hear? Cause I get my custom rings simultaneously as that...
I would be interested to find out how to have A2DP on and still get the ring out of the speaker... I have a Jabra 8040 too.

I am using the Bluespoon AX with the JasJar. It uses the hands-free profile.
The most annoying thing is the phone does not ring when the headset is in connected mode. It makes the headset ring, but that requires me having it in my ear all the time.
Is there a registry setting or something that will make the phone ring as well?
I'm using a Jabra BT200 and my headset rings as well as the phone when I receive a call, which is effectively what you're looking to do.
Anyone else have theirs do this already?
I have the Moto HS850 - phone rings as well as headset with an incoming call
Greetings,
I'm using a Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 stereo Bluetooth headset with my TyTN and so far I have only one gripe - when the headset is connected, the ring tone somes through the handset only, not the phone itself, which means that I'll miss any incoming calls if I don't have the earbuds inserted.
Also, the ring tone sometimes does not start until about 20 seconds after the display has started to announce the incoming call.
I tend to have the earbuds hanging from my neck if I'm not listening to music, and the ring tone is not loud enough to be heard that way.
I suspect this may be by design, because it's assumed that a stereo Bluetooth headset is always in/on the ears when connected to the phone, but I want to use the 970 as my only headset even when I'm not about to listen to music.
Is there any way to get a ring tone from both headset and phone?

?
Anyone figure this one out yet? I have the same problem...
same here, anyone find a solution please post, I think I can change it from the registry I will check it.
Can I ask you folks a question relating to the use of the headset Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 with the HTC Hermes...do you get all the functionality ie caller ID, the ability to accept and reject the call, compatible with mediaplayer etc.
I have a concern that with the headset not being a HTC product, perhaps some of the Sony functionality may not work with the handset.
Thx
From my experience the ringtones will not come to the speaker if you use the headset as wireless stereo. I only use the headset as handsfree, which makes the ringtones go through the phone.
I used the DS970 for two week with my O2 Trion, feature like Caller Display is No any problem,But when using media player sometime it may out of control, like cann't accept call and control volume or stop.
And the sound quality is acceptable, but it will stop few second after 1 or minutes, I have change the regedit.
May I know is there any way to fix it?
Still no solution?
Anyone come up with a solution to this problem? It really bugs me not to get a ringtone from the unit itself, just thru headset... Works just fine with my old mono handsfree, would be great to have it in the stereo heaseat to...
i have the same problem

thank and sorry for my english
juste a little frenchy
There seams as if there's no solution in sight, I got the exact same problem, also with HBH-DS970 and with Jetware Mobile's "Hands-free extension" installed.
I'm still running WM5, anyone who have tried WM6?
/Fluff
Same "design feature" here with my HBH-DS970 and HTC S710 WM6 Smartphone, so it's not ROM, device or OS version specific. I would suggest this is by design.
I'm pretty sure this is by design since thats how it works on my BT8010. Its stereo so it seems to make sense all sounds go through headset although it would be nice if it was an option. The BT8010 has a button on the headset to take it out of music mode so then they will go through the phone but I guess that doesn't help any of you out much.
Another option would be to just uncheck wireless stereo in the pairing and just check it back when you want to do wirelss stereo.
I was wondering if it is possible to get the instructions from tomtom to come through my bt headset instead of my kjams internal speakers, i it is could someone PLEASE point me in the right direction, i have the bt headset paired and working but can not figure this out.
Search for and download BTaudio. That will put all audio through your headset. If you get a call though the ringtone might deafen you.

I'm not sure if most BT headsets are the same, but mine has a "Ringtone" of its own. Not really a ring tone but it makes noises, if that makes sense.
Anyway, if you have a headset that beeps, farts or makes any other noise, then setting the ringtone to off might be an idea.
To be honest, I have never really sussed the volume controls out on the wizard though, LOL.
The BTaudio app sends all the sounds through the headset. So if your phone rings you hear the phones ringtone rather than the headset ringtone. At least thats how it is on my MDA with a Plantronics 510. Anyway, you could just use somethign like phonealarm and have a seperate profile with a lower ringtone for when you're using tomtom.
Hi all, I have MDA Pro with BT headset Motorola H500. When I have call, the headset just play its built-in ringtone. I have set different tones for some 'important' contact and want to listen to them on BT headset, is there any software or registry tweak can do it? I used MS Voice Command and it direct the ringtone to the BT headset, but using that program was a huge memory consuming and not useful for a non-native speaker like me. Any help would be appreciated.
PS: sorry for my bad English.
Your headset needs to support the handsfree profile not just the headset profile for this to work.
When I tap & hold on the headset icon, there are 'set as hands free' entry, click on it has no effect, anything i can do to activate handsfree? TIA.
Not unless your headset supports it. If it did, you would hear the ringtones.
I am looking at some specs of the headset, it do support both 'headset' and 'hands free' profiles. But I cannot hear the ringtone of MDA Pro just the default ringtone of the headset. Any ideas? Thx.
Hi guys,
I have a question about BT headset.
I have a JABRA BT 8040 connected to my HD2. When my phone is ringing I still hear the same sound in BT headset( like ..turut-turut..) doesn't matter how the phone is ringing/what ringtone I using. I also using this headset with my workphone Nokia 3110c and on that I hear the same tone in BT like its coming from phone speaker.
Any idea where is the problem? Why can't hear the HD ring sound in my BT headset?
I think the sound you hear is the Microsoft Voice Command ring sound. I use the MSVC ALOT so I don't want to turn mine off, but try and turn off yours and see if that changes the ring sound in your earpiece.
