So many ROM's - Touch Cruise ROM Development

My First post - my first question.
I have a brand new HTC Touch Cruise (Polaris) in my hand waiting to flash it as the original ROM is too bloated for my taste.
I have used O2 XDA Orbit before and had flashed with Meshle's Vanilla ROM - which was the Most Stable, Cleanest, long battery life, and NO memory leak ROM.
Is there anything similar to that for Polaris? I assume - the word Vanilla does not apply here as I did a search and came up with nothing for Polaris. Am sure there are many 'Good' ROM's - but I am looking for something 'Clean' but stable and fast. ( I do a lot of other office work on my phone - so speed, memory is of essense rather than looks!)
I am not looking at the Cube or TouchFLO or any other additional APPS - just a stable ROM which has maximum battery life, good radio signal and with no memory lelaks.
What is the current recomended RADIO version combination currrently being flashed with the ROM?
If someone can please take the time out and suggest.
Thanks

<<Bump>> So many views and no one answered? Thats not good ! At leaste give me the keyword to search with?

Also there is a super light ROM by swtos!!

i'm in the same position - office phone, that should be fast and stable
that's why i'm using "swtos light v0.6"
it's more stable comparing to version 0.3

Try 0.67_Basic_bepe
It is nice and clean !

This.
Though, looks like author is not working on ROMs for polaris anymore. Its a big shame...
It was the only trully naked ROM for Polaris. /sigh
M-Amine 2.0 Light is waaaay faster than 3LIT3 naked. Believe me, I tried both.
Thank you, all! will probably go with 3LIT3 naked
NFS...
I've tested many ROMs. I got to think that they are several HW versions for Polaris... it might be a noob opinion, but it's the only explanation i found. Some ROMs here on XDA were reviewed as lightning fast but when I flashed them on my Polaris I was more disappointed than I was by the stock ROM...
to be honest it's really a headache to choose the best rom, some have combatability issues, others are stack after a while, what I like is to have a steady rom with enough internal storage to install my applications.
the problem is I like the cooked roms tweaks but....
for me I tried most of xda available roms and I guess i will go with the original 3.19 Rom
rom that can Video Call?
I had been wanting to make a new clean and lightweight installation for a long time, because I had tried so many softwares on my Rom that it was kinda messed up. This thread was the trigger.
I tried 3LIT3 naked, M.Amine light, and another "light" Rom I can't remember as it erased it in no time (toooo sloooooow).I had tried oter Roms before, but none was really fast.
It turns out that Manilla is slow as hell (yeah, I know, no big surprise), but the enhanced menus are sluggish too. Really, it makes a huge difference. Much more than several % of free memory
.
Amine light ended being the best choice fo speed by far. I have no numbers to back it up, as the only testism daily use.
M.Amine light comes with... nothing, or close. Just the basic tweaks.
I added everything I needed from Cabs from this thread : HTC home (yes, Amine Light is SO LIGHT it does not even have home plugin!), HHC, Cube (which is fast, and convenient imo), TomTom (I own a licence) plus a task manager and Skyfire both downloaded from other webites.
It took me about 10 minutes to complete the whole installation and my phone has never been faster. And stable.
I have used M.Amine Roms for a while in the past, so I expect it to remain pristine even after intensive use.

Best custom rom?

Can anyone tell me a stable custom rom to install?
Currently running 1.66 stock, and it crashes on me at least once a day, requiring me to remove the battery / press reset, although I would like to stick with 1.66 based Roms so that the SMS not sending bug does not ever occur.
Used an Artemis Rom in the past and found it to be quite buggy.
Prefer to stick with something fairly close to a stock rom, perhaps with a few nice tools and things like the extra RAM / 1Ghz CPU active.
Thanks
try "Leo Lite" or "Duttys"
Is there a stock 1.66 rom with speed tweaks available?
custom roms
i don't think there is a best rom. i think there are very good, excellent roms out there waiting for you to try and decide which is your favorite.
if you want to shorten your path you should define what you want first.
if you want a clean, stable and fast rom with no gimmicks and you only care about functionality i recommend you try dutty, laurentius26 or kwbr roms before anything else.
if on the contrary you prefer customization you should try nrgz28 or xannytech.
this, of course, doesn't mean you cannot customize dutty's or xannytech's
are slow, but their philosophy is different and this shows in their product. also, i don't want to imply that these are the only chefs worthy of your attention, i'm only trying to make my point that their have different styles.
i'm currently running the fresh artemis 3.0 because the most important things (for me) are achieved by it:
- i had an excellent relationship with the previous version (2.9b)
- it is based on the latest winmo and manila version (for hd2 !)
- the chef keeps in touch with its followers and continuously improves its product
oh, and let's not forget about the importance of the radio. at least for me it was crucial, as i only found a couple of them working properly in my area.
i hope this helps, good luck!
One of the best Roms are made by Miri and nrgz28
the energy rom gets my vote best rom i tested so far. very quick and stable with lots of added bits
I like the look of the latest Artemis ROM, but unfortunately it does not seem to include either the 1Ghz or 578MB hacks

There is no 1GHz hack. I think you actually mean 1GB anyway, and no, there's not one of them either.
Edit:
I didn't know what I was talking about
There's a 1GHz hack that keeps the CPU running at 1GHz, but this obviously chews your battery time quite a lot.

HTC Touch HD Windows 6.1 best rom

Hi,
I was looking for a rom based on the latest version of official Windows 6.1 that is faster, very stable & has extra software as I am not impressed with Windows 6.5 roms at the moment.
I want a rom that works 100% like the official roms, just faster.
Can anyone help
Thanks
JAW$
You will have to try by yourself.... there's NO such thing as "best ROM".
Extra software? What extra software?

I keep trying all different 6.5 roms but keep going back to Dutty's 3.9 XT rom. Its very stable and probably the best 6.1 rom IMO.
If you want more of a customized version of 6.1, choose one of Dutty’s latest ROMs (note that Dutty stopped making custom ROMs for the HD long ago). Else if you want some raw performance boost, choose a Topix ROM especially the vanilla ones.
Fact is, choosing the best ROM is a matter of preferences. Taste of yours may vary from thousand others with the same device. Hence, before choosing a custom cooked ROM, forget the positive reviews people give on the ROM and instead, test them yourself personally. Probably have each of the ROM running in your device for atleast one day to analyze which one performs better and finally choose the best one for your taste.
Topix 3.5 is a very sweet ROM. One version even has the weather thing if that is to your tastes. Needs a little tweaking, like Tom's Extended Menu for the start button, but is super fast and stable.
+1 for Topix. Played around with Dutty's and when I went to Topix it felt blazing fast. Still using Topix.
hi

Back-2-Basics

Hello fellow flashers,
What a journey it has been.......
About 1,5 years ago I started flashing cooked roms. Miri and Dutty produced some great roms which showed what our precious Blackstone can do. Those and other roms had lots of bugs, but it was fun to play around with them.
Lately, the most popular roms have been developed into great pieces of work and major bugs are in the past. It's mostly minor stuff that's hardly annoying.
I flashed almost all available roms on this forum from chef's such as Energy, Xannytech, Grzegorz, Cloudy, Miniteror's, Mikenifficent, BlackSTONEhenge, Kenia's Blacknew, Millski, Maryone, PhamQuang and Lotus, but I always went back to one of the KWBR's Topix roms. Especially the WM6.1 sense 2.1 rom, which was my longtime favorite.
So why back 2 basics?
I flashed back to the "latest" Dutch stock rom and almost fully tweaked it to optimal settings using HD-tweak, HD settings, SKtools and driverpack signed 2010. The rom is flying like a maniac and I can't believe how fast my blackstone is (even compared with the fastest coocked roms floating around). I also made some cosmetic colour changes to the slider and taskbar (see avatar) and it still uses only 33% of memory....amazing!
The only downfall in my opinion is the WM6.1 part. Some programs can't be instaled through marketplace, but I can live with that. Also because of the age of the roms a lot of programs are old, but everything works like a charm. Also, TomTom and Google maps work extremely fast and the responsiveness and quickness of the rom is extremely good.
By using all the latest roms the last couple of months (which usually use between 45-55% of memory and even more after applying tweaks) I forgot how fast this device can be.
I think i'll stick with this rom-version 4 a while and see how the development on this forum goes. On the other hand, I might flash tomorrow again as one of these great chef's comes up with with Dutty called: "the holy grail". We'll see....
Fact is: it's addicting as hell to play around with our device, but you all know what i am talking about, right?
Tnx 2 all you chef's 4 the great roms and keep up the good work!
Had an iphone for 2 years. Got my HD quite recently, came with some win6.5 manilla2.5 rom. Tried a lot of roms, and all the time had the feeling of lagginess and slowness.
Then i tried kwbr topaz and rhodium roms and the stock rom. Well this device is meant to be fast afterall. I don't really get why you people use those i_wanna_look_like_leo roms =)
And i don't really see any sense in upgrading windows as well, unless you don't like your manilla, coz titanium is quite ok for a daily use.
So now there's only three roms that i really enjoy: the stock rom (it's meant to be like that), the rhodium/topaz rom (fit just like the stock one, but with some added features)(thank's a lot kwbr), and a clean 6.5 - 6.5.3 rom (haven't really found the perfect one)
i can speak for italian stock rom but every topix beats the sh33t out of the stock rom. cfc compression of tf3d/sense and all the tweaks cant be beaten by the stock rom
My question is can someone direct me to the LINK from where i can Download the Latest WWE Stock ROM, i need only the nbh File because i will use the Stock one with diferent Radio version
I saw alot of Official ROM in the Wiki but they are Uploaded in few Pars and they are on Rapidshare so i will need to download one ROM few days because when i download 1 or 2 times from Rapidshare i cannot download more for today. Also im not sure do this post is Up to Date for this reason im asking you here...
I need a WWE ROM its good enought if its WWE Europe.
I already have on my Desktop PC ROM: RUU_BlackStone_HTC_WWE_1.56.405.1_Radio_52.62.25.34_1.13.25.24_Ship
But i don`t know do this is the Latest Avalible? also is writen that is 1.56 so this mean someday in the future when i need to get back to the Stock one and im not with 1.56 Olinex i don`t need to be back to 1.14 Olinex right? because this ROM is 1.56

Hi there,
Almost all the speed improvement tweaks while using HD-tweak, HD settings, SKtools and I installed SD-tuneup, Colored slider + taskbar, Wifisharing and driverpack signed 2010. That's about it.
You can find all those programs as cabs on this forum.
Good luck!

I flashed back to the original Dutch stock, did the tweaks you mentioned, added a nice theme+taskbar and installed Facebook, Marketplace, G-Alarm, TomTom and Opera 10. The ROM flies, has every tool a use and just uses 33% at startup. Never went over 48% till now!
Thanks for your tip!
As much as I appreciate this thread, it hasn't got anything to do with development so I am moving it to the general forum
what eyecandy/tools are you using to make an old stock rom look good?
the main reason to move from stock 6.1 to wm6.5 and sense2.5 is the look, isn't it? I like on home tab the weather animation, links to programs (CHT), the funktionally people and the email tab ...
so my question is:
what eyecandy/tools are you using to make an old stock rom look good?
any pics & links, please.
A while back, I flashed back to the latest WWE stock ROM and thought I'd stick it out for a bit, but the lack of kinetic scrolling really caught me out to the point I could hardly use the phone (I never realised I'd gotten so used to WM6.5!)
Then I tried kwbr's WM6.5 and Manila 2.1 (no sense) and found that while it does use more memory than a WM6.1 ROM does (37% after a softboot), I've not seen it over 50% unless I've a few apps running at the same time. And I've got my kinetic scrolling back
Out of curiosity, how much difference does Neo's driverpack actually make to the stock ROM as I was led to believe it only made a noticeable difference to those using Sense 2.5 which used the graphics-side a lot more?
Well.......after using the modified stock rom for a couple of weeks I could not resist trying some newly coocked roms.
I found a rom that really meets my expectations and needs:
[ROM][WWE][10-Jul-10] Cloudy 0.4 (WM6.1)
Try and see 4 yourself!
Greetz!
Barebone
Have you tried [ROM][WWE][WM 6.1][Jun 24]Barebone 2.6 ?
Very fast ROM with all the useless stuff removed. Much faster than stock ROM in my experience.

whats your fav rom?

Mine is MaxSense Energy. Quickest ROM I've used, most frequently updated, I haven't had to soft reset my device because of it once. Very reliable, imo
My personal favorite is the "Energy" rom... Same reasons stated above... Updated every few days it seems, very fast, stable, and looks "pretty"... Plus I get a great battery life...
Forget the ROM upgrading madness.
Check my sig.
Mine so far is Deepshining's Roms. They run smooth and battery is good. I changed to Energy cht (Dinik) rom for a few weeks loved some of the apps cooked in and really cool looking but i had to soft reset more than normal and my battery life did not last as long as i would like. i never got sod's but the reseting was killing me so i went back to Deepshining a few days ago and back to happiness!! Im not knocking energy roms but it just didnt work for me.
So i would say Deepshining is my fav at the moment, i have been looking at seeM_ZA rom, simplicity. Cause i want something with the basics and cht cooked in but that rom has no Facebook so im just a lurker for now.

With 1.3a, GPS works like charm. And with little bit of registry editing you get your 6.1 start menu with manila programs tab enabled. I just love the rom. Allthough Jackos has build it for maximum ram efficiency, the rom is the fastest i've used. I suggest you to try it. It sets the bar high for other roms.
Big thanks to the developer!
Deepshining for me. Its the first rom I tried and I havent tried another. Battery life is good, its stable and its updated in good time. No soft resetting issues or sods
I've tested all tp2 roms and have to say that Jackos showLITE is the best...
E N E R G Y R O M is the BEST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stock WM 6.5
I am very,very satisfied with original,stock WM 6.5 ROM.
It runs flawlessly. No objections.
NRGZ28's most recent Cookie Energy ROM
ive been using the JackFull v1.4 rom since release Aug. 01, 2010. absolutly no major issues you find in the other mainstream roms. (sod's, memory leaks, power drainage) the rom is very smooth. the chef, jackos, is dedicated to his thread and helps resolve any issues promptly. on a fresh install, i get 310mb of storage and 95-100mb of ram. its a great "lite" rom for you to build on. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=632617
Mine is the simplicity ROM. Its been the fastest for me and has been updated during the time I've had it.
