Peronalizer 2.0.

i think they meant change the whole phones programming not just the operator name

Dear "TheChampJT",
I want to say what "nxtech3" is what I want to do. Not only to change the operator name but to move to another operator in my country who use a 800 Mhz CDMA system.
So, I want to know if it is possible and If yes, how to do it.
Thanks for your reply.

You need to:
1) Have an operator that is willing to enable the phone's ESN in its system. MANY CDMA carriers simply will not do this. It's not a technical block, but rather a simple matter of policy. If the ESN is not enabled on the carrier side, the device will not work.
2) Get your device's MSL (Master Subsidy Lock) so that you can access the programming settings.
3) Get all the necessary settings for your new carrier.
4) Program the device manually with EPST.
5) Update the PRL from your new carrier.

How do you Hide Phone Capabilities ?

Hi All,
I would like to supply XDA's to a client, who plans on using them
for GPRS only. They do not want their workers to have the ability
to use them as Phones. Is there any way of removing the Phone
Dialer App (from ROM or otherwise), so that they couldn't key in
a phone number?
The only option I can think of is Kiosk mode with that SP Kiosk
App?

On any SIM you can block selected outgoing calls.... Check on the options your phonecompany gives you.
Maybe you could lock the SIM to only allow dialing out to phonenr. stored on the SIMcard itself (being zero, for example )
Thanks the reply,
I'd rather remove the ability to phone because I would rather
the end user didn't even know it was a phone. The SIM Lock
option isn't a bad idea, but they could stick other SIM cards in
it, which our customer does not want.

Not with a sim-lock and even then, they are calling at their own cost...
If you block it on the XDA, it can be hacked on the XDA, make it SIM-Dependant... A hardreset wil alway restore the phoneapplication. Only way would be to create a own rom without phoneoptions.
And still they wil be able to hack it, by installing phonesoftware, or installing their own ROM... Read this forum
Again : If you block it on the XDA, it can be hacked on the XDA...

I thought that, if a guy is smarter enough to know how to use it and to know its has GPRS, then he would know it is a phone.

You can edit ROM and remove cprog.exe application. Just use any hex editor to change its name to something like "lalala.la". But a clever user would take this file from another ROM and install to their device. Or would reflash the device.

Bit difficult - the start call and end call buttons will be a bit of a give-away!
I agree with the others that a modified ROM is probably the easiest/cheapest way - simply remove the phone app and even a hard-reset won't restore it but this won't stop the bright user from mod'ing the ROM himself.

Im so confused!

Ok, heres my problem. I have a Verizon XV6900. I am currently on a local CDMA carrier. How can I get my HTC to work on my network, my network excepts outside phones so I know they will do it. Ive read about the Coke unlocker but I am confsued. Does the unlocker make it so you can use the phone on any CDMA network or just so you can put custom ROMs to it? Thank you very much, ive done alot of reading but I just need some clarification. Thanks.

The coke unlocker is so you can install new/different ROMs on you device. What you really want to do is a full flash to your carrier. Who is your carrier? I might have some good pointers or even a tutorial I can point you too.
I have a local carrier called cellcom, theyre a local CDMA company.
I did a quick search and it seems like there is some sort of cellcom rom or something out there for the Vogue, so if you can find that, you shouldn't have an issue. I couldn't point you in the direction of that though, didn't find a download of any sort, just some random info.

Well that's a new one to me! But any way to flash over to them from Verizon you will need to gather some basic information like:
PRL files
MNC #
SID/NID #
activation number.
To get your web MMS working you will need to know other setting like HDr/ppp username and passwords. server names ports proxys, etc. Those you might need to get from cellcom.
There is alot of info that you can pull from a current handset if you have one and some that you will need to ask them for.
Here is a LINK for a tutorial I wrote for flashing the Vogue to cricket just replace all the cricket info with the cellcom info. If you have a question on the tutorial post it in that thread. I monitor it better then here.
From what ive read I can use an alltlell rom and it would work. Could someone tell me how to go about this so cellcom can activate it because I dont have any codes or anything. Thanks.

You can put an alltel ROM on it but you will still need some of the setting I mentioned above unless they are an alltel MVNO which would technically make them a Verizon MVNO now. But anyway here is a LINK to all the shipped ROMs for the Vogue I would start there with a shipped and then upgrade after you have it activated.
Be sure to unlock with coke unlocker first and follow all the instructions.
Well I previously had a razor that was from US Cellular and that worked fine and was activated perfectly but I read in my research that someone had a US Cellular Vogue and it wouldnt activate with cellcom. Is there a way I can just get the unlock code and then have them activate it without messing with the ROMs?

The easiest way to do it find out the PRL & activation code for the OTASP and see if it will program the PST automatically. If it will OTASP successfully you will have at least talk and text.
and it won't touch the ROM.
Your unlock code for a Verizon device will be 000000. F.Y.I.
Could you explain to me how to do that? Im sorry but im a complete newb.

The PRL file is going to be the hard part, I did a quick search and came up empty handed.
For the OTASP I would say call your carrier and ask for it. Most carriers are like *228, *2, *22804, etc, etc.
If you find out the important info I can tell you how to use it.
This site will give you a little bit of intell on PRL's SIDs MNC's and different info you will need. http://www.roamingzone.com/
Ok, I used the service menu and pulled some info out of my rumor. I have the PPPID, PPP Pass, SID, NID, and PRL. I guess the only thing im missing is the MNC and the OTASP number. Im gonna call cellcom in the morning for the OTASP number but does anyone know where I can find the MNC.

Pulled it from my last posted link
here it is Cellcom MNC 600
Now on your PRL you will need the file if you don't have it post your PRL number here and I'll see if I can help you locate it.

Well so now you will need to manually program it with all your gathered information. To do so you are going to access the PST program by dialing ##778# or ##778snd then it will bring up another window click on edit enter 6 0's. Frfom there find all the info that you will need to replace and replace it. As for a PRL file it is a scarce creature for cellcom. I would recommend asking them if they might be able to refer you to where to get it.
try this one it works for me!!!
I have got HTC P3050 (TELUS) I have got a procedure to unlock SPRINT TOUCH but anyone can tll me that it will work for TELUS TOUCH i want to use it in India it may be any network
here is the procedure:
I did this for my Sprint Touch. I am still using it in the USA but my phone has been modified to support other carriers with no problem.
The steps are simple:
Here is what you need to do:
1. Download GetSPC(attached below)
2. Unzip to desktop
3. Turn off phone and remove battery.
4. Write down your HEX ESN
5. Power your device back on
6. Connect via ActiveSync or WMDC
7. Copy entire folder to main memory on device.
8. Run GetSPC.exe
9. In the top box type in your HEX ESN(make sure caps is on)
10. Click generate or whatever the button is named
11. The resulting number should be a 6 digit number, your MSL, write it down.
12. Search for, download and install Qualcomm's QPST tool.(not freeware)
THE FOLLOWING STEPS ARE VERY DANGEROUS SO MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW MY DIRECTIONS EXACTLY.
13. Run QPST Configuration(run as admin if Vista)
14. From the Dialpad, dial ##3424#(##diag#)
15. Connect device to computer via USB(this will install drivers)
16. In QPST Configuration, click ports.
17. Continue to add ports until the QPST Configuration detects your phone
18. Under active phones it should display your phone.
19. Click Start Clients/Service Programming
20. Select phone and click ok.
DO NOT LEAVE FIRST TAB, THE SETTINGS TAB. THIS IS THE ONLY TAB WE WILL NEED TO CHANGE ANY SETTINGS
21. Under the settings tab, click Read from phone.
22. Input your MSL you got from GetSPC earlier.
23. Under codes where it says Service Programming, change this to 000000
24. Click Write to Phone
25. Wait 1 minute
26. Close Qualcomm QPST one window at a time.
27. Disconnect the USB cable from your device
28. Perform Soft reset once
29. Test new MSL(##000000#)
30. If new code does not go through, hard reset.
31. Depending on what device you have, follow the necessary steps to unlock your phone so you can flash a new ROM to it.
32. Install OEM ROM from carrier of choice or build your own custom ROM using the new carrier's information.
33. Follow instructions to flash new OS to device.
34. Call service provider and do some sweet talking to get them to activate the phone on their network. You may need to do some serious sweet talking because Sprint ESNs are not in Verizon's database and vice versa. This goes for all CDMA carriers.
Good luck.
just get the PRL & MDN FROM YOUR NEW CARRIER AND CHANGE IT USING QUALCOMM
IF U GOT CONFUSION JUST REPLY ME
ALSO I DONT OFTEN VISIT COMP.. SO JUST WAIT 4 MY REPLY I WILL DEFINETELY REPLY YOU

Try using ##778# with no snd. Then you should have the new window pop up.
if u dont get a prl just try to connect any of phones running on cellcomm and then read PRL from that phone using QUALCOMM
also if u want to start it to cellcomm then just go there and fill up the forms and tell them to enter your ESN on their network now just install TELUS WM 6.1 ROM and then dial *228 it will automatically download all the PRL,MDN and change all other information
then flash any ROMS you like i basically like NFS FAN V17 ROM
ALSO U SHOULD PROBABLY DIAL ##778# IT WILL OPEN EPST TOOL THEN U WILL NOT HEAR THE RECORDING!!!!!

Help! How to unlock LG Fathom? Did anybody made it?

Hi. I for nearly 2 months, I've been trying to unlock my LG Fathom. (I'm not living in USA).
I bought 6 different unlock code (by IMEI) orders from different sellers but sellers couldn't find it.
Then I asked Verizon and LG Mobile, they said that they wouldn't give me that code.
Finally yesterday I write a mortscript code like this:
(Before writing the code:
WallpaperUnlock.exe is a program that provides you to write 8 digit unlock code, then you have to click "OK" button, then if the code is wrong, a window opens and says "The code is wrong".)
------------------------------------------
Run( "\Windows\WallpaperUnlock.exe" )
WaitFor( WallpaperUnlock, 1 )
For x = 10000000 to 99999999
Sleep( 1 )
SendKeys( x )
MouseClick( 290, 195 )
Sleep( 1 )
MouseClick( 290, 350 )
Sleep( 1 )
MouseClick( 290, 150 )
SendSpecial( "Backspace" )
SendSpecial( "Backspace" )
SendSpecial( "Backspace" )
SendSpecial( "Backspace" )
SendSpecial( "Backspace" )
SendSpecial( "Backspace" )
SendSpecial( "Backspace" )
SendSpecial( "Backspace" )
Next
--------------------------------
If I calculated correctly, my unlocker application above will try every number from 10000000 to 99999999 in nearly 100 days, so my program is truely a garbage. However, if I know the first digit of the unlock code, I can write the similar program that finds the unlock code in 10 days, or if know the first 2 digits, the writen program will find the unlock code in 1 day. So, If anybody managed to unlock the LG Fathom, can that person please share the unlock code with me? If we find 2 unlock code from different devices, maybe we can find same numbers or something like that.
Also if you know a way to unlock that phone or if you find a registry related to the unlocking situation, please share?
Please, please help me
Thanks
By the way, I can pay up to 300 Dollars for an unlock code (or unlock solution). If you know anything like Octopus Box for LG Fathom or any other expensive solution for unlocking the LG Fathom, can you also please share it with me? I want to use my phone
Thanks

Do they didn't give me the code, they said "You are not a Verizon customer, so we can't give the code to you".
You need a special unlock kit, something like this:

I think most more advanced mobile service centres can unlock the phone for you.

Thanks. I will look if any of those SIM cards suppor LG Fathom. I hope I can find it.
Yesterday I sent an email to Verizon again about my unlock code than thay send me this mail:
" While we do not lock phones for use from other providers, we cannot guarantee it will work with another service. I have provided the programming directions below for the device.
Step 01:
With the slide open, tap Phone, press # # 7 7 6 4 7 2 6 7 5 0
Step 02:
Service Code: ______ displays, enter 6 digit code (default: 000000)
Step 03:
Tap Service Prg
Step 04:
Display now shows the following fields on screen (read display from left to right (see screen shot 1 for example):
MEID
ESN
MDN
MIN
HOME SID
NAM Name
Security Code
Step 05:
Tap in MDN field, use DEL (backspace) key on keyboard to removing existing information and enter 10 digit MDN
Step 06:
Tap in MIN field, use DEL (backspace) on keyboard to removing existing information and enter 10 digit MDN
Step 07:
Tap in "Home SID" field, use backspace key to remove existing information and enter SID,i.e. 20=CHI, 6=NSE
Step 08:
Tap Save, tap OK
Step 09:
Tap OK on right side of screen PROGRAMMING COMPLETE - device will restart automatically."
Is this a way to unlock my phone? I don't know anything about MDN, MIN and SID number and I don't know how to optain it
I would email or call verizon again and ask how to get those numbers.

Unfortunatelly, the information that they gave is nothing without the unlock code. So I decided to search a way to unlock my phone again. Then, I found this:

That means, with JTAG box, I could finally unlock my phone. However, JTAG Box is very expensive. For tht reason, I went to a tecnical service which has JTAG BOx and I gave my phone to them 4 days ago. Now I'm waiting them to unlock my phone.

Yes, thanks for reminding that, this JTAG Box can unlock every phone with Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8650 chipset. For example, LG GW820 eXpo, LG GW825 IQ, Verizon HTC Droid Incredible, Verizon LG Fathom, (I'm not completely sure but maybe) HTC EVO 4G
JTAG Box is 329 Dollars but it is not like Octopus Box (Octopus Box supports only few devices as far as I know). So even in here Turkey, nearly every phone service has that JTAG Box. They wanted me to pay 100 TL for unlocking, approximatelly 60 Dollars, and if we consider in Turkey everything is very expersive, in other countries, I think they will unlock your phone for 20-40 Dollars. You just need to ask JTAG Box for services.
Hope I could have helped you
Everything is good in this phone except it comes network locked!!!
Regarding Unlocking part,, if foreign device Electronic Serial Numbers (ESNs) is not accepted by your country CDMA providers, then again unlocking and reprograming ESN is required.
As this phone also has 3G GSM SLOT for global roaming but again sad part is that too needs unlocking, which seems nothing but a big pain in ASS!!!
Note: Only through Vygis, Octopus, Jtag, Z3x etc proffessional tool box. This phone needs Hardware Unlocking solutions not like other phones, which can be achieved via regular IMEI unlock code method.
fathoms are already unlocked.....
My LG Expo / GW820 was locked to AT&T and nobody could get me a code for it. I went to http://www.unlocktotalk.com and entered a coupon code (look for one online and you're sure to find it) and purchased the code.
Within a very short time, they emailed me that they couldn't get it via traditional methods and asked if I could wait a little longer so they could try getting it "using the LG method." I suspect they had to contact LG directly to get my code, but they did deliver it within the same day.
For such a reasonable price, I could not have hoped for better service. Sure beats eBay and dealing with other companies who couldn't deliver!
Now I can use my Expo on t-mobile or any other sim network and can show off the projector and other features current phones don't offer.
So I still had not found answer in the internet, how is possible to unlock LG Fathom from Verizon? Anybody any hint?
This the first phone in my life (got hundreds of them) when nobody can unlock it for any clever price.
I have not tried this method, as I do not own a Fathom. I am considering one, so I started researching unlocking one. I got this off of the xda or AT&T Forums (I can't recall now):
{Verizon settings cannot be changed but you don't need to use that settings by default too. To configure the AT&T settings, you can choose 2 paths.
1.You can find a cab and the cab will configure everything for you. That cab should be like that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=337481 look at the bottom of the page.
2. You can configure it by yourself manualy. To do this, You should fist tap to menu, than settings > Connections > Connections, then tap "Add a new modem connection". After configuring that "new modem connection", you should go to "Advanced" tab from the same place than tap "Select Network" button and choose your confured network settings.
2. If I understand correctly, you want to erase Voice Message line from the home screen right? To do that you should install this cab to your device: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=497232 than disable the voice massage section from this installed application.}
end of directions I found.
Hope I could help you a little
GSM part of phone is unlocked & works with all SiM.
But it is not possible to use other CDMA network except verizon..
I think as the phone is not popular, nobody helps to unlock..
Yes I would also like to be able to get my Fathom unlocked so I can use it on T-Mobile. Verizon told me they couldn't unlock it cause I wasn't a Verizon customer. What A Crock!!!
When I was using my iQ (GW825) from Telus back then, I couldn't find unlock code either. I tried one of the turbosims from ebay. Worked great. I had not have any problems using the phone on Rogers with the turbo sim - no dropped calls/signal, no problem with data connection or anything. Considering the cost ($5) - you may give it a try.

I believe that you need to have something like CDMA Workshop, where you can connect the device to the computer and change all the programming of the device (including phone numbers).
I believe there are codes as well to access carrier programming directly in the device, but I don't know them. Although, I have seen a few threads with these codes around xda.
I know my new XevRev rom for WM6.5 would allow me to program/PRL update with Verizon, it is currently untested with other carriers though but I wager it should work since I made the roms carrier specific. It's not droid but you shouldn't have to flash back to stock without relocking.
Since I switched service to MetroPCS with my EVO and Metro did an outstanding job in leaving me phone-less for a full day and a half due to not programming it properly, I had to search around a bit myself and came across a few codes that may help:
##DATA#
##DIAG#
##000000# (note that if the zeros are for the MSL number. If you have CID unlocked the device, this code should probably work. Else, you will need to figure out your MSL. You can use MSL Reader, which is free in the Market). BTW, this last one is the EPST Programming, which is where you can change the phone number. Having said that, play with this at your own risk and back up every single number that you change by writing it down somewhere in case you need it again)

[Q] WP7 displays my carrier incorrectly?

My carrier is small and therefore doesn't have its own Network.
It rents networkspace from a larger carrier who has a Network.
Problem is that WP7 display the name of the larger carrier and not my real carrier then I'm in Windows Phone.
Windows Mobile and Android had no trouble with this.
Any idears on howto make WP7 display the name of the carrier correctly?
It should say "CallMe" which is the name of the carrier which I use, but they use the base Network of a provider called Telia.
But WP7 shows "Telia" as my carrier, not CallMe.
Doesn't WP7 have this ability?
same here (for giffgaff), but it's no big deal, there's no need to stress about it, it doesn't change any functions what-so-ever.

It should say "CallMe" which is the name of the carrier which I use, but they use the base Network of a provider called Telia.
But WP7 shows "Telia" as my carrier, not CallMe.
Doesn't WP7 have this ability?

In Norway we have two big carriers with their own network, Telenor and Netcom. Myself I use a smaller carrier, Chess, using the Netcom network. That's why it says Netcom, and not Chess. It's the network you are on, not your carrier.
