You made sure all the configurations are correct?
If so you might need to await a couple of minutes while you move around or are open to a clear sky to receive a signal. To help improve the satellite lock time try searching for a GPS launcher. There are some specific for Tom Tom.
These launchers not only initiate the GPS but once it is warmed up it will run Tom Tom after. It doesn't really help 100% but it does help speed up the lock time abit.
tnx> i got it working but its not very accurate on the position. sometimes its really off
I had the exact same issue. My external gps antenna came one day later than the phone did. I plugged the antenna in, and then it found two satelites indoors. Unplugged it, and it stayed working. I walked down the street it sorta tracked my position. Hope this helps anyone else having this issue..
Edit: I found this thread via a google search and didn't realize I was in a Titan thread. My phone is the Polaris/Touch Cruise. Sorry...

please explain more, did u install on phone memory or memory card?
any error message? did the signal bar on garmin showing any green bar?
it shows a green bar i installed it on my memory card. but the signal bars usually are orange i left it on over night and when i woke up i had two orange bars... i installed the htc gps enhancement and i went outside and got bout 3 bars the max. its working fine just not at full signal.
Make sure you're using "GPS INtermediate Driver" and not "Comm 4"
Tap the signal meter, then disable. Select "GPS Intermediate Driver" then enable.
I applied the GPS tweaks in this thread, made a HUGE difference:

thanks!!! working pretty goood..
i had to stay outside for a while for it to pick up signal.. i guess when using it for he first time you have to let it sorta sync in for a while

Issue 5715 (GPS), Please star at code.google.com

Yesterday I experienced issue 5715 (just looked it up) pretty badly. http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=5715
I switched on my GPS in a city 300 Miles away from where it was last on, then waited for 1 hour with the phone by a window.... No GPS fix. All it sees is one or two satellites. (as seen by 'GPS status').
Later in the evening I had to walk to a new location thats about 0.5 Miles away...No GPS fix in the open! Restarted my phone as I knew this had worked before (many times). Unfortunately it still didnt work. 'GPS Status' showed 3 connected/4 found and a fix 200+ Miles away with a ground speed of 271MPH, Was funny looking at my location (blue dot) flying across the map so fast while I was stationary. (I was standing at the intersection of two streets, no tall buildings or obstructions anywhere)
I finally managed to find the location by just looking at the map.
Later that night I restarted the phone one more time and the GPS is working fine. (6 connected/ 6 found)
Please "star" the issue linked above if you've experienced this too.
If anyone knows if this is fixed with the newer/custom ROMS please let me know.
Thanks.
I had the same problem last year when I flew from Jersey to Oregon. After I arrived, I went to navigate with my Touch HD (Windows Mobile 6.5) and the map put me in Michigan traveling at 600mph. I chocked it up to a flaky custom ROM.
I wonder if theres a common link here, in that its not the software, but in fact the GPS's ephemera data that needs to be purged and/or updated?
Later that day I ran the satellite update software, rebooted a few times, and all was well again.
I'm in Dublin, Ireland and for some reason in both Maps and Google Earth it says I'm somewhere near to Alicante in Spain!!
I installed Secure Wave today and hit the track button on the site and guess what, it said Alicante as well!!
How can it be this wrong guys?
Cheers,
M

+1 for a GPS reset/Clear data app.
I remember the GPS on my N95 thinking I was doing about 200mph when I was in my house before, wonder if it's more a general GPS glitch than the N1's fault.
I had this problem before the update. Haven't seen it since. I'm not saying they are related, I'm just putting it out there.
I did notice a couple of things (that could be unrelated or user error) - 1. if I had a Google Nav or directions course mapped, exited the Maps app and then went back in, my location would sometimes jump from the actual to the cached Nav starting point (make sense?) 2. If I left the GPS widget enabled, I had much better performance in Google Maps (duh! - but I mean no glitches in showing my location).
My pocket theory was it had to do with the assisted GPS portion - the checkbox that says 'use wireless networks - location determined by WiFi and mobile networks'. If any of those networks are reporting a bad location (IP source or Phase 1 location on a mobile tower) - maybe that is what's throwing the maps off? The thing is, the iPhone uses the same location enhancements (Skyhook plug in) and doesn't exhibit the problem, so who knows.

I suspected this, so I turned off the "use wireless networks" option before rebooting. Didn't help, The GPS was still lost.
Are you actually obtaining a lock (solid GPS icon rather than flashing)?

Didn't check that (think it was flashing), however 'Gps Status' reported a "fix" after the first reboot and it was wrong. Showed 3 connected/4 found.
Waited for atleast 15 minutes in the open...freezing.
anyone found a work-a-round or fix for this problem? Trying to use my NBA league pass but says it shows I'm in Espoo ( no idea where it is) instead of in the US.

How do I know the GPS is working?

Hey.. been trying to see about using the GPS to locate me.. I used the test program and it just stays on yellow "Gps starting up" and other apps I have like a gps radar for weather never locks on... just goes by cell tower or wifi signal to locate me. Kinda odd so not quite sure how on the Energy rom how GPS is working and how I can test it? Its just odd that my G1 locks on but my HD2 isnt? Thanks.
Edit.. also a odd note... GPS I think is working.. but ONLY if I have the "Phone" turned on. Like for Cell phone signal. Normally I dont have the network turned on since I use it more as a pocket pc. But does the cell network need to be turned on for gps to work..? Again thats why im asking for a real way to test.
Another thing.. Weatherbug not getting a gps fix ever...
My guess is that agps needs to be disabled.
Well after I did the quick gps thing and downloaded the info... more things came up which is good... least its showing me its tracking something. Weatherbug still not doing anything tho.
go to: settings, menu, all settings, system, external gps. Set a com port in every tab that asks. In google maps set it to let windows configure gps and then reset the phone (just to be sure the com ports are started). After this once the phone has locked on to some satellites you can disable quickgps (only accurate to 3000 metres not 20) and the gps will be "always on"
Ok that did something more at least. Weatherbug found something, least 1 when I turned programs to none and hardware to port 4. (Cant use same port for both programs and hardware gps, thoughts?)
Edit: Nm I see you said already set "a" comport not the same one lol. Ok lets see what that does. =)
Edit 2: Ok well I know the GPS is working cause it picks up on my weather radar and the test tool that it gets a signal from some. Which is good. Tho why I cant get weatherbug working right.. I dont know.
New question.. how come the Hardware GPS port doesnt save? I have software one on Com4 but when I try to pick one for hardware and OK out. I go back in and it says "none" again. Is that normal?

GPS and cellular being killed off together

Anyone else seen this behavior?
This has happened twice to me now... These are the symptoms:
1. Very poor signal area, phone going in and out of coverage (in someone's house for several hours)
2. Using WiFi, also going in and out of coverage (may not be relevant)
3. Return to good 4G coverage
4. 4G seems to work fine
5. After typically 10 mins or so travelling (or after some event?) the cellular & GPS connections drop completely.
6. Reboot required, then all works fine again
I'm on EE network in the UK
I have noticed all this through my navigation app (TomTom). At step 5 above the status bar still shows the 'GPS active' icon on the top right list of icons and no bars (neither 4G/3G nor 2G) signal strength under these circumstances.
So something is killing off BOTH GPS and cellular radios? Apps (even broken ones) can't do this, can they? So this will be a bug in the OS, right?
Stock/unrooted LPD23.118-10
I know this is an old post but it is still relevant to any X play users.
Has anyone found a fix for this.
My X play will run for weeks using GPS and various mapping apps without problem and then it will say looking for a GPS fix and the Cell signal has also gone even though I know that a very good signal is available (my work phone is with me on the same network).
The quick fix is to go into the drop down menu on the home screen and turn the location icon OFF then ON, the phone then gets a fix within a seconds (even when travelling) and then in 10 to 20 seconds the 4G icon comes up, first with ! then once it has made a proper connection (IP address I assume) it goes away and all is well.
I guess that the radio driver for the GPS and Cellular side must be interconnected someway or there is a memory issue which is cleared by turning location OFF the ON.
Any thoughts folks ??
The X play is running standard MOTO 6.0.1 android.
Thanks
