I just Got The XV6900 From Verizon Wireless Upgrading From A Samsung SCH-i760. Whenver i Receive A Text Message The Screen Turns On And Stuff. Is There A Way To Make It Just Vibrate And Leave The Screen Off When I Receive A Text Message. It Didnt Wake Up On The i760 When Receiving A Text Message. They Both Run Windows Mobile 6.
Have you tried Settings>Sounds & Notifications>Notifications>New text message> uncheck Display message on screen? It works for email, but I don't know about SMS

Set the value of "DisableSMSWakeUpEvent" to "0" under -
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL
Hope it should work.

Hi,
When I recieve a new text message, I don't hear a sound, it does not vibrate and als does nog display the message on screen.
The only thing that happens is that the phone screen goes on and it displays 1 new mssage where it should but no sound/vibration.
My settings in the settings>Sounds&Notifications>Notifications
Event: Messaging: New text message
|x| Play sound |Notify|
|x| Display message on screen
|x| Flash light for |5 minutes|
|x| Vibrate
x means that it is selected.
So I don't get it, settings should be correct right?
Any help would be great cause I miss al lot of important messages.
Thx in adv.
Me too...
Me too.
I'm sure it's something very obvious but can't think what...
Same problem...
Exactly the same thing here.
I have a Touch Diamond 2, and had the same problem.
Found a solution at http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/...to-notify-when-receiving-sms-in-standby-mode/
Basically, you need to edit the registry and change the following value:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\DisableSMSWakeUpEvent
from 1 to 0.
I have a problem with my Himalaya, but this might be an WM6 problem also.
When my device is switched off (so in standby) and I receive an SMS, the device does not notify me that a new SMS arrived (doen't ring, blink). I receive the SMS when I turn the device on next time. I'm sure that the SMS should be received earlier because of the timestamp. I also tried this by sending a message from another mobile to myself.
What might be the cause for this? I can receive calls while the device is switched off.
how are sounds and notifications in settings set for on recieve sms?
For "Messaging: New text message" I have:
"Play sound" set to some standard-sound (Alarm5)
"Display message on screen"
"Flash light for no limit" and
"Vibrate" set.

Hi. try to search for the smsalertfix.cab patch and install it. Make sure it is on your startup folder so that it always starts when you do a soft reset.
It has helped me with that problem.
Hello All,
I have a Rogers HTC Touch running WM6.0 (the default software). Text messaging typically works but on occasion when i receive a text message my phone screen will light up, but no sound and no vibration will be produced. And the icon on my Home screen that indicates text messages will still say "0". But when i press the icon and the messaging tab loads up i see that i have a text message.
This is really annoying since I constantly miss text msgs. When the phone is in my pocket I have no way of knowing i have been texted. To make matters worse when i pull the phone out of my pocket the icon on the home screen telling me how many text messages i have will still display "0" until i press on it.
Again this only happens sometimes.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Just an update?
Any thoughts? It's a really weird bug. This is my second Touch from Rogers and it suffers from the same issue as before.
Anything in the registry than can be changed?
Thanks.
I had the same problem.... i hard reset, it was the only way.
Rogers as well...
Check this Thread.
Check your sms reminder settings.....this could be of help to you.
Are you using Opera? Their older builds seem to cause this issue.
Regadrs,
Carty..
I've just had my touch replaced due to a fault and I have a little problem I cant remember how to fix.
When I send a text message, when you receive the little notification at the bottom to say your text has been sent, its vibrates 3 times as if to say I've received a text. Do you know how to turn the vibration off when sending a text?
I've had a browse and can't find any information on this
thanks in advance.

I have disabled all notifications for sms messages sent, so i'm not 100% sure if what I'm describing below will work as I don't have the option for sms messages succeeded (could be because there is no such setting or because I have already disabled this function).
Anyway, I'm sure it's work a look. Go to Settings\Sounds and Notifications\Notifications. In the Event box, scroll down to the option for Message : Message send succeeded (if there is such an option as there is one for mms) and uncheck the box to vibrate.

I have a HTC HD2 and when the screen is locked, it shows a number 1 (identifying that i have a notification).
When i tap the notification icon, it drops down and shows me the voicemail icon - which means i should have a new voicemail message to listen to.
If i slide the voicemail icon, the phone goes straight to phone book, but when i call my voicemail - there are no new messages...
I have tried everything and i just cant get rid of this voicemail icon! I DO NOT want to do a hard reset.... Please let me know how to sort this out...
+1.
I'm too having this problem. Whenever there's a new email notification on the lock screen it always shows there are 2 messages, one being a voicemail.
I can't find a solution for this problem here on XDA (if anyone has a search string for me, please let me know )
I remember Nokias having ghost voicemail messages, these were reset by the mobile service provider, check with your network just in case.
Possible Solution...
I'm not an expert, but I kept noticing this problem as well (HTD2 on AT&T). Happens after a hard reset OR if AT&T updates their network or something (who knows).
Anyway, experimented and found if I left a message to my phone from another line right after a reset (when I was seeing the "ghost" voice mail notification), allowed the message to register on the HD2. Turn screen off then on. Slide VM notification. Dial VM. Check the messages and delete all (press 7 to delete). Exit VM with * key. And the ghost notification disappears. I will update if this works in the future.
Hope this helps someone.
No problems with HD2 and PocketShield

Some consumers reported ghost notifications on the Touch Pro 2. I don't know how they fixed them but I know they did. You may want to search those forums to see if the same solution can be used on the HD2. I think it should given that the operating software is pretty much the same.
any solution ?
i tried this but doesnt workhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7731861&postcount=10
