Isn't there an option on TomTom or Opera that sets the screen on landscape mode??

I use phoneAlarm Pro to auto-rotate the screen, as soon as mij Cruise connects to my Bluetooth Carkit.
This way, as soon as I start my engine, my screen rotates (and the volume goes up, for TomTom), and when I leave my car, everything is back to normal.
Completely automagically...

bloody buttons don't work if you close the lid. anyone knows a hack?
You probably have to go to buttonsettings in you settings
Go to Locktab and select "Do not lock buttons"
good luck
Locked buttons
Try Start / Settings / Buttons 'Lock'-tab and select 'Do not lock buttons'
I've already done this. it works if you leave the LCD screen open, or if you close the lid flipped (lcd out) but if you close the lid with lcd screen inwards, the buttons stop working.

Same here and it makes useless the Voice Speed Dial feature
really stupid...
is it every one's problem or just some of the devices have this "feature"?

I have a MDA Pro from T-Mobile Germany and I have the same Problem. Voice Dial not available, if the MDA is closed!
Yeh, I have a T-Mobile MDA Pro with the same problem.
It's rather silly because it's not just voice dial I want to use - PocketMusic which is my preferred music player doesn't get the button presses if I close up the device...
Could it be a firmaware issue? Is that a WM5.0 Problem? Like the missing A2DP Support on BT Stack? The last point is very awkward for Microsoft.
There is a program, PQzII, what enables you to bind programs to buttons, and it does the magic trick: you can use buttons when the device is closed. BUT there is a problem with that it only works after a soft reset, until you switch off and switch on your device.
I think there is a service what loads when the device boots up, and when you switch it on, like the service, what checks if the device is opened, and rotates the screen.
The screen rotating-service can be stopped, so you can prevent it from rotating, so I think we could do it with the device-closed-button-locker-service
-working on it.
Only want to control my media player with the volume slider, in my pocket, when the device is closed. (I have been using my Universal without any case in my pocket for 2 months, and it is in perfect condition)

My screen wont stay turned on!!!

Hi All...
I would like to set any program (each one i want...) not to switch off following the normal settings of my pocket pc...
Example:
When you start Tom Tom, your screen remains turned on, even if you set 1,2,3... minutes after then your screen must normally switch off...
So, i'd like a solution to set any program like TomTom and make my screen stay turned on untill i close that program.
Please can anybody help me???
I'll waiting for your solutions...
Thank you in advance!!!
Setting -> power -> advanced
and in TomTom -> Backlight on never
???
I didnt understand what you mean... The way you suggest doesnt make choose which program make my screen stay switched on or not bypassing the "normal" power settings...
I'd like to set any program (TomTom do the same thing by default!!!) deciding which one can bypass the power settings remaining with the light screen on!!!
But not all program, just the one i decide!!!
So.... i can i set my pocket pc to do this??? And how TomTom works doing this by default???
HEY?!?!
............ Really???
No one can help me??? What the...
I still waiting...
Pleeeaseeeeee!!!!!!!
No one... No one.....
SIGH.....
HELP!!!

Is there app which turn Diamond into standby mode by flipping it face down?

Hi
I have seen a short movie where was shown that Diamond can be turned into stanby mode by flipping its screen face to the ground(like mute on during a incoming call).
Do You know that application and where can I find it?
thanks in advance
GSEN probably.
GSen can rotate screen but it doesn't turn device into standby mode.
You have the fdscreenoff and poweroff180 options as well with GSEN.
GSEN can do it

Oh yes, it does. You even have 2 options, rotating it face down or bottom (with USB connector) up. Just look into ist GSenCFG utility
Ok I got that thanks a lot but could You tell me one more thing:
What is the difference between setting 1 and 2 in
#fdscreenoff(0|1|2) - if 1, program will switch off screen if you put device with screen on bottom, if 2 device will suspend.

Lock the screen while using Tomtom

Hello,
I'd like to use my HD with Tomtom on my motorbike (HD in the pocket, navigation instructions over to my Sony bluetooth headset).
Trouble is, of course, that in my pocket, the screen is pressed and Tomtom exits.
Is there a way to launch Tomtom and then lock the screen before putting it in my pocket ?
Thanks !
same problem here.

I'm using Navigon on my HD and after locking the screen (press and hold the end key), the Navigon just continues to give driving instructions. Wouldn't that work with TomTom?
locking
Problem I believe is once tomtom looses focus then it stops working. Need to lock it while staying focused on the tomtom screen.
Also if the tomtom looses focus then the phone goes to sleep after period X

It doesn't : Tomtom keeps working in the background but no instructions coming through =(
There are two ways to lock the device while continue to run TomTom (with the instructions):
1) Press Today button, then lock the device in normal way;
2) Install Gyrator2. With the default settings it will lock your device when inseting stylos back to device.
First solution doesn't work for me : the instructions remain when i press the today button but are cut as soon as i lock the device with a long press on the bottom right button or with the on/off button at the top of the device
Will give a try to gyrator
works perfectly with gyrator2 !
Thanks a lot
Gyrator
Only problem is with gyrator is the device goes to sleep after a little while. I think it is because the unlock function is in the foreground. Tomtom is still active but sleeps after a little while.
Would be good is gyrator then made tomtom the foreground app again once locked.
Just go to the power options and untick the boxes !

All programs close when screen goes black

Hi all.
I have this annoying problem with my Blackstone.
When the screen turns off everything closes down. It's really annoying if i'm using messenger or something and not look on it for 2 min it closes messenger down.
I know i can choose in battery setting not to turn off the unit if it's not used for a while, but i still like that the screen is turned off, but still working.
Can this be done??

Yes it can.
Go to Start/Settings/System/Power/Advanced and you can select the screen or backlight to turn off if device is not used for x mins on either battery or external power

Yeah i know, but it only turn the lights down, not turn the screen off. It's only if i choose to turn off the device the screen turns off.
I use gyrator to set up an event that turns the screen off without turning the device off when the stylus is inserted (you can modify the default gyrator behaviour which is to lock the screen when the stylus is inserted). If you want to be fancy you could set it up to turn the screen off if the phone is turned face down, you don't really need the screen on then anyway unless you're in the habit of looking at your phone above your face while lying on your back, or trying to use it while doing acrobatics in an stunt plane.

This is what i'm looking for and i hope someone can help me

Just tried the screen off when phone is face down and it doesn't seem to be working for me either for some reason. But the stylus in event is working fine, just pop the stylus out and put it back in again and the screen goes completely off without killing the processes in the background (can still explore phone with active sync). I wouldn't want to mess with the power button as that is really useful to provide a proper device suspend when I want it.
I have a similar problem but with the GPS.
I have raised the question here, on some other forums and directly to HTC.
From HTC I got the answer that it is done by design to minimize battery drain and that they would have many angry costumers complaining about low battery life.
The only solution I know of so far is to use a 3rd party app.
I use "screenoff" and everytime I use the GPS I go to advanced-power and uncheck all the boxes.
When I'm done using the GPS I check the boxes again, otherwise I'll have to remember to turn the screen off manually everytime in "normal" usage of the phone.
I think it's sad though on such an expensive device not to have the option to run programs and hardware in sleep mode.
I'd rather find a solution where I can push the power button as usual and where I can have the boxes in advanced-power checked all the time.
I managed to get gyrator to turn the screen off by flipping face down, just needed to put the screen off command before all the rotation disable commands. Now if I want to disable the screen I just have to flip it face down for a second or so.
Thx for all your help.
But i found out that it's not only when the screen turns off everything closes. If i just leave it on home screen for like 2 min. everything also closes down.
I've heard from another forum that it's something HTC has decided to do to keep on the battery....
I don't know if there is anything to do here then??
Go to the start button, select settings, select system , scroll down and select power then the advanced tab and UNTICK Turn off device if not used for 2mins for both external and battery power.

I had a similar problem and only thing which resolved it was a hard reset!
I'm just testing it again to make sure. Have a track playing in the HTC music app and I'm signed in to messenger. Screen is off and I'm waiting for 3 mins to make sure.

That was going to be my next suggestion, really doesn't sound like normal operation to me. So hardreset and install one app at a time until you find out what is messing things up for you. 3 mins are up and track is still playing and I'm still signed in to messenger.
Thanks to a guy called Dawsonas I just found a program called Pocketshield.
It has an application permission feature:
"When this app is running override power off: just do screen off" (use this option for music players, GPS apps, loggers, IM, or any app that needs the device to stay awake). This setting will take effect either when "Power off on lock" or "Power off after 20 seconds" options are enabled.
Check it out
