HTC Audio Booster - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Could someone make it working fine on VGA screen?
It works but is very short (about 1/4 of the screen)
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=58130&d=1195040550
I wish I could use it on my diamond cause the new one has less options (they can be modified only via registry)
Thanks

just go to the program folder and change all the sz of the bg image files to 640x480 and double the sz of the smaller images example 24x48 change it to 48x96 that should do it...

there is no program folder

so forget about it, install srs wow, and..forget bout ****ty htc app(your beloved thc audio ****ter).

The problem is that I prefer AudioBooster for 2 important Reason:
-It is hardware modification and not software. So it acts directly on sound processor so quality is better
-It has a real equalizer with frequency gain adjustment (and not only bass and treble adjusting)
I just don't know the name of the image file and don't know where they are but I'm sure those who packed it into the cab file know......ohh that's the solution I'll have a look at the cab.

I used Win CE CAB manager to increase size of each BMP files. It doesn't work well. Some images are cut. I think there are further things to do in the .xml files that i unfortunatly don't know how to do

does this audio booster works on HTC Tytn?

Hello know if it is possible to operate in audioboster fm radio?

Qtek 9100 newbie questions

Hi Guys, I've used PDAs for years and just moved up from an Orange SPV-C500 to the Qtek 9100 so I'm fairly familiar for the general working environment but new to this device. I'd appreciate some advice or help with the following:
1) Can you set up the 9100 to lock itself with a button combination or do you have to go via the touchscreen every time.
--> Edit: Found Matt Armstrong's DeviceLock app (http://www.mr2-power.com/downloads/DeviceLock.CAB) and mapped it to the voice record button.
2) I have managed to freeze the Qtek a few times while exploring its features and probably by loading too much up at once but the issue here is that occationally when I push the reset switch it powers up again with the backlight off - is this a known issue and is there a quick way of turning it on (button presses?) rather than having to squint at the display while holding it near to a desk lamp!?
3) I've used Resco Audio Recorder on my PDA (iPAQ 4155) with no problems but recording on the Qtek is jumpy and the elapsed time counter takes about 1.5 seconds to clock up every second - anyone else seeing this kind of behaviour? Is the processor just not up to it?
-->> Edit: Dropping down to 8KHz sampling didn't make a lot of difference but switching to Resco's .raf format produces decent recordings with the realtime clock ticking over at the correct rate.
4) Can you replace the standard 'phone' app with a third party one? If so, what's available.
Thanks
Linker3000
3,. depends what format you use in Resco AR. IN general, it won't be able to record correctly into Speex and almost surely into Ogg when not overclocked. Are you using one of these two formats?

Nope - using the deault which is 11KHz, 16-bit, 96Kbps MP3. I'll have a play with the settings and see what happens.

Well, RAF is far less storage-friendly than, say, MP3. You may want to consider sticking to, say, NoteM if you want both quality and not very space-consuming recordings.
Please also see http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/menneisyys/112005SoundRecorderApps.asp for more info on all these q's.

bad performance on gui operations

Hello,
I'm new with HTC devices, now I have a Trinity with Rom 1.15.405.
My old device was an Eten M600. Well, even if the Cpu is the same, I feel a bad performance on all gui operations, such as menu opening, tapping reactions, keyboard response...
Is this normal? Any hope it can be fixed in next roms?
Possible fix
I too have a Trinity for some weeks now and I understand what your saying this is possibly todo with the ROM on the device i.e it's still needs fine tuning and performance should improve with each subsequent ROM update - I hope!
Try using a registry hack to improve performance... just a suggestion but try using the following file - definately helped with mine.
This doesn't seen to help..
Another idea for you
I too am always on a mission to improve performance even if it isnt broken I try and fix it if you catch my drift, and have soft and hard reset my device over 200 times in the three weeks that I had it. So I have almost everything to improve performance generally. I found that installing the first file in the first post helped, try installing the attached file it contains alot of registry tweaks that I have played with and these have also helped further I would say it has improved general performance by around 20% and have made my Trinity a pleasure to use.
Turn on the following after you have installed it (you will need .Net Compact Framework installed as well to run this software):
0. Speed up the Display (this really works well)
1. Optimum Cache Size for WM5 (this really works well)
2. Increase the transfer rate in SD/MMC cards (this really works well)
3. Max TCP windows size
The rest are more general tweaks but add to the flavour...
4. Optimized cache option for Terminal Service Client
5. Smooth scrolling in Pocket Internet Explorer
6. Allows users to synchronize the device clock with NIST Internet Time Service (ITS).
7. Enable ClearType in Landscape
8. Wake Up PPC in full Power Mode (not sure about this one but won't hurt)
9. Disable Bitmap caching (not sure about this one but won't hurt)
10. Move PIE temp files to any of your storage cards
11. Animated Windows (this makes the GUI feel faster as you get some action)
NB. The trial Version will run 3 times enough to do your fixes but then you will need to buy it to further modify or revert to original settings.
Let me now what you think.
More tweaks not just for GUI but good performance
More general tweaks...
Make A2DP output stereo (joint stereo by default - why I wonder? well heaven knows) and change sound quality to excellent, these tweaks made a bloody big difference to listening to music via BT Headphones.
You can also unlock and mount the Extended ROM
Download and install the following (Hermes Registry Tweaker) - http://www.theunwired.net/?itemid=3311
I'm more and more disappointed by Trinity. Installation of Compact NET Runtime gives "out of memory", even if it seems to install anyway. I have 33 MB Storage and 17 MB Ram free memory after reboot (soft reset), no apps are running.
I tried a wmv video encoded with Pocket DVD on both Trinity and M600. Well, on the M600 it is much much smoother... My sister's K-Jam (Wizard) plays same video better than Trinity, even if it has only a 200 MHz cpu.
Hmmm curious
I have had most devices from HTC - and to be honest trinity has impressed me greatly, especially after all the tweaks.
My Trinity plays video encoded for 640x480 (vga screens with no issues it cuts straight through it) including Divx, Avi, Xvid, WMV using CorePlayer, I am suprised that you are having this problem.
Why don't you do a hard reset then install all your apps onto storage except for .NET CF. Then do all the tweaks I suggested I am hoping you then end up with one of the best windows Mobile 5 Devices out there with 3G.
Don't give up it wll be worth it - especially when they enable GPS as well.
I'm not alone:

Curious
I think I will run some benchmarks! Results posted very soon.
It has a desturbing sound on the higher tones and the bas is muffled. I tried the fit4 program and changed to the best quality, it sounded a little bit better but it was hard to hear, beacuse now the music skips even more thnat earlier. You know you ger music for a while, it cuts of for a second and then comes back. Now it does this every 5 seconds.
Very sad
Guys am I using the same device??? I don't have any of these problems apart from the occasional skip if I am surfing the NET!

I am baffled.
I'm attaching Spb Benchmark tests, go here to visualize them:

Strange... my trinity works perfect. Its fast and reliabel. What today Plug-ins do you use. On all my pocket pc I noticed that most of performance issues were caused by today plug ins. Remember: They are always running in background...

Try disabling the custom phone skin and use the standard OS skin. You'll lose caller prediction, but on the Universal (already a fast phone) it made a big difference.

How can I do this?

Audio during boot up screens

Does anyone know if it is possible/how to create longer boot up audio as a device starts (after HR/SR)? I'm familiar with creating custom boot screens but I thought it would be cool to have some custom audio (in my case the Descent by Dieselboy) play during device startup, any and all feed back would be appreciated.

Ummmmm, how does a little exe that plays an mp3 sound? You just need to place the exe along with the mp3 in the startup folder. Would you like me to write a little app that does this? Just let me know, it shouldn't take me more than a few minutes to chalk up .

Wow, it's great if you do that, thanks in advance. Waiting for that program. But it should close automatically after boot finished so it couldn't use any RAM in running background

I'm about to goto bed, so I'll do it tomorrow (Unless another developer beats me to it, cuz it really is a simple app). And yes, as soon as the file plays out, the application will close itself, and free up your precious memory, not a problem.
I still wish the animated gif app played sound on the titan like it does on the kaiser. I havent really looked into why it doesnt in depth, but it would be nice.
Thundershadow, when would your app play these sounds? right now the animated gif app should/does play them before the welcomehead screen and after the second splash. If you could cue your app to play then, it would be great. Especially with the longer boot times of WM6 and BigStorage roms.
AudioBoot 0.1
AudioBoot 0.1.
Simply plays "startup.mp3" (which MUST be located in your devices root) when your device starts and kills itself when the mp3 reaches it's end. The application itself is only 5kb, but im using fmod to play the mp3, and that dll is quite large. I could use playsound, but you'd be limited to wav sounds, and mp3's only work with playsound if you're using WM6. So I guess I'll release a WM6 version, which will be roughly 5 kb, and any device prior to WM6 will use fmod.
Installation/Usage:
1)Extract to your device
2)Rename any mp3 "startup.mp3" and place it in your devices root.
3)Place the shortcut in the zip file in Windows\Startup
4)Soft reset and the mp3 should play on boot.
Took me like 5 mins to write, so let me know if it works .
Edit: Just added the source for anyone who wants to improve .
WOW!
You're Good!!!
Waiting for the WM6 version!
Very nice little add-on... could you maybe sign it, or whatever it takes there, to remove the "Unknown Publisher" warning? Having to click "Yes, I trust you" to play a startup noise isn't very fun
I can use it with my Hx4700 WM6 kozhura ROM.
Thanks.
vivi
Is i'nt it little too heavy? Can we not cut the flab with small foot print. Play any of the wave file staying inside the \Windows folder?
thanks thundershadow, it works on my Atom, but please make it use "startup.mp3" in /Windows, as I want to build it into my ROM.
AudioBoot 0.1 Wav Only!
Hey guys,
Here's a wav only version of AudioBoot 0.1. Do the same thing, except, put startup.wav in your windows or root directory. I've got the WM5 SDK, so I'll be Downloading the WM6 SDK to make use of the mp3 playing options of playsound. As you can see, it's MUCH MUCH MUCH smaller . If you've got a short startup sound, it's better to use the wav format anyway, you'll end up with a smaller file size.
Here you go .

OK!
I made the following steps on my ETEN X500+ WM6 and it worked
-Made a new folder and put the AdioBoot.exe in it
Root/Program Files/AdioBoot
-Placed an startup.mp3 in the device root
-Added by SKTools a new "startup application"
-Soft Reset the device
WORKING!
Thanx a lot!

Thanks, I'm currently working on another project so I don't have much time to devote to something else, just trying to help as many people as possible . I'll look at getting alternative ways to play mp3 files for devices that are < WM6, since fmod is REALLY BLOATED for such a simple job.
Thank you. works great on my HTC Excalibur WM6

Video editing software for our Diamond ?

Hi all,
I used to be really enthused by the small video editing app included in my Sony Ericsson fans. It was very useful to edit video, make personal editing etc... to send via MMS. Assembling clips was made easy and intuitive.
I can't find such an app for pocket PC. I stumbled onto http://www.trakax.com/software/mobile. It's a useful editing software with cutting edge graphix, but not free and quite cumbersome to use...
Do you happen to know a complete video editing software for our beloved pocket pc? It SHOULD exist but I could'nt find anything out there...
THX a lot !
I found nothing.. I hope there will be some video editing software some day, i had a sony ericsson phone, and they have this simple video editing software called VideoDJ. So maybe there will be one to ppc too...
I don't know about video editing for PPC (maybe there r some) , but I think You don't need such a program, you can
edit it by using PC (with many video editing programs) and export the file..

New Version of TrakAxPC for VGA devices
Hi Cormac here from TrakAxMobile.
Just a quick note to say we have released a new version of trakAxmobile for VGA devices.
Here is quick list of the improvements we have made.
1) We have improved the search function, allowing you to search your content by day/month/year. You can also highlight a number of days/months or years. This will allow you find the media on your device much quicker.
2) We have also improved the editing. We now decompress the file when you click on the edit button allowing you to access time positions in the file quicker and easier. When editing audio you can just highlight the area you wish to cut on the waveform with your stylus.
3) We now allow you to crop photos and you can add a ken burns effect to photos allowing you to Pan and Zoom into particular areas of the photo.
4) We have added a whole range of new transitions.
5) In the mixing screen, you can now control the tempo of the media by switching the slider function from volume to tempo. The slider now allows to slow down or speed up the clip. This is cool if you want a video clip to play in slow motion or wish to speed it up. The same applies to audio, you can speed it up or slow it down by adjusting the slider.
6) We now also allow you add themes and effects to videos or photos. You can also change the color of the text and add background colors to your credits.
You can check out the new features at our website -
http://www.trakax.com/software/mobile/trakaxmobile_vga_devices/
and there is a 7 day free trial available from the following link.
http://www.trakax.com/software/mobile/trial_version/
Check it out and if you have any question, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards
Cormac
Been using trakAx for a while now - awesome app!!!
Just be patient when its rendering your clips as it can take a while - its got a lot of processing to do.
Output is only 640x480 though I think

Problem with rings in wm 6.5.x (blackstone)

I've seen that happen in the following scenarios:
#1 - SLOT0 contains modules
If SLOT0 contains modules, it may affect the phone and/or ring playback. In some cases, the phone would simply lockup after a call. In other cases, during an inbound call, the phone wouldn't play the ringtone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=538099
#2 - Size and/or type of file
There's an HTC ROM package that is required - believe either MP3Trimmer or MediaOS package - that extends the registry and the device to support non-WAV files as well as files that are longer than ~30 secs.
#3 - Location of files
Ringtones need to reside in specific places; here is a link to places for WinMO 6.1 ... should be the same for 6.5.
