Sir Charles!!
I applied these yesterday and I believ you have something....but I wonder if it's catchy. LOL
I left my connections on all night (BT/wifi), talked for 90 minutes to my friends and family, listened to music on pocket player for an hour and a half and now, 24 hours later I still have 50% battery.
I usually don't activate my connections until I use them and typically don't call too many people on this phone (I have a sucky corporate phone), but it seems all this added activity has not had anywhere near the impact I normally would expect.
I'll spread the word and see if more folks won't give this a try on their Shadows.
Meanwhile....Thanks!!

So far I haven't found any, the fix is noticeable on saving battery life though.

Yes There Are No Side Effects And THanks 4 Making A Cab For Users Who Dont Wanna Mess With The Registry And Making It On Users Who DOnt Mind

Alright, I just did these edits with a fully charged battery and rebooted.
Let's see how long my phone lasts.

Well I have installed already and testing, post results later
Thanks,

I downloaded the .cab and attempted to install. The install was unsuccessful- anyone know why that might be? Could my registry be locked? I am using WM6.1_V1b_by_Erofich.

So, no feedback yet ?

What kind of feedback are you looking for? I use it, I recommend it. This should be the first thing you install on your shadow.

Hmm ok, so does it work for diamond ?

Um, no... that's why it's posted in the Shadow/Juno forum and not the Diamond forum.

Actually, all of the registry keys are present in both the touchscreen and non-touchscreen editions of WM 6.1.
So the CAB installer may not work, but the actual registry fix should.
I am trying this on my Wizard and will edit later to post how it works out.
#edit to add#
Works great on both my Wizard and my Juno.
I think that these should work for any WM 6.x build.

Ok thank's, i will try these settings !

I'm feeling bored, so i'll go in to what these keys do.
Basically all of these are power management keys, which allows the phone to turn devices/connections off when not in use.
If you want, you can take my word for it, otherwise you can use the links.
AsyncMac is The NDISWAN implementation in Windows Embedded CE
IrSIR = Infrared Serial Driver
PPTP and L2TP are VPN protocols.

Registry trouble with phoneAlarm

Just recently I detected that I do not receive any calendar notifications any more, which is really annoying. Device wakes up but no sound at all. Browsed some threads on this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1035667#post1035667) but only advise I found is to hard reset - which I do not want. I checked the registry instead and found some questioning entrys.
Could anybody USING PHONEALARM (www.pocketmax.net) on a Prophet or any other WM5 device please post some of his registry entries here?
- HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\Reminders
- HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications
Many thanks

To me either pocket clock or PHONEALARM caused the same problem.
I went back to a sprite back-up point from before installing both applications. Then my reminders and alarms worked again.
I have not tried to reinstall either of them.

Yes I did the same. And after more than two months I ran into the mentioned problem. And now I want to manipulate the registry but need to compare the mentioned values with mine. There is nothing critical about registry values and your would pretty much help me providing your info.

BTW, I had the exact same thing happen to me with my Magician, and had to hard-reset to get notifications back. I've only just been game enough to load pA on my newish Prophet and so far it is working OK. I am running pA Lite v.1.56.1 (Build 80).

PeterW,
many thanks. Unfortunatly it looks the same on my phrophet - but without getting notified. I am using pA 1.31 - no idea whether this will generate other registry entries than pA lite 1.56.1. On my my WM2003 device with pA 1.31 installed the registry looks different, in reminders I have:
* Default = "Erinnerungen"
* Duration = 10
* Options = 1073741855
* Wave = "Alarm4"
Anybody else having these entries in a WM5 registry?
Regards Hase01

Have found a solution using alarmToday, also a pocketmax product. Look my post on their support page:

No need for a hard reset!!!!! Hope this helps other users, for me phoneAlarm is one of the best tools I have on my PPC and to deinstall it would be of great disadvantage.

You have to use one of the free Registry Editor. You can find some if you use the forum's search function.
There is no build in registry editor in WM6.
WM6 Registry
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\BackLight]
KeyLightTimeout
Stock Double Word is 30 =5 Seconds
Change Double Word to 90 = 15 Seconds
I recently fixed one 4350(replaced LCD)..
however there is no keyboard backlight..
can somebody explain how this backlight works?
are each button lighted?
moved to a own thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1883948#post1883948
Old thread but some1 might get hits on it.
My PDA phone (HTC p3300) with wm6 has a different key name for the same values due to (i suppose) the option to have different backlight for AC power and battery power. So you do want to change the timeout, only u get to do it twice
HK_CURRENT_USER\BackLight\BatteryTimeout
and
HK_CURRENT_USER\BackLight\ACTimeout
-value is in actual seconds-
____________________________________________________________
I myst be tired. Didnt read the thread properly,This belongs in another thread i belive since my tweak is about display backlight. There isnt so many hits on the subject so ill just leave it as it is for some1 to find. Cheers
Thanx for a great forum. cheers

Irritating Pop Up Keyboard

I saw a cab somewhere in the Diamond thread which stopped the keyboard popping up whenever one opens an email , a text message, or something that might remotely require text input. Here is a link: http://personales.ya.com/beemer/nullkeyboard.htm
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip]

This is the regkey you've probably been looking for. Use it myself on my Diamond and works like a charm.
Excellent find - after a soft reset this works on the Kaiser too, much better than faffing around with nullkb and PQz et al.
I didn't manage to make it work on my Kaiser. Could you please explain me how to?
Thank you.

Yes! That works perfectly! Thanks a bunch.
For all you guys who can't find it (it didn't exist on my Tilt):
In HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip, you need to to create a new Value. Name it, "TurnOffAutoDeploy" (without the quotes), make it a DWord, and set the value to 00000001, like MRE-net said. Save it, soft reset, and it works like a charm.
Great find mate. Thanks again.
Ok guys; I must be stupid!
I've just tried it (again) and it still doesn't work!!!
When I create the new DWORD value, Task Manager asks me if I want it Hexadecimal or Decimal... I tried both but no one fits.
So, please, could you explain it again )
Thanks a lot!

Make sure it is Decimal and just fill in 1 and not 0000001. 1 = on 0=off
Also make sure the new key you've created is a DWord and not a StingValue.
Alternatively you can copy the attached DisableKeyboardPopUp.txt file to your device import it into your registry. Make sure you rename the file to DisableKeyboardPopUp.reg
Thanks MRE-net! I have been looking for this as well.

Improvement of audio bluetooth quality

Hello all,
sorry for this post, but I am really unhappy. I did lot of research here and via Google too. Well known problem is poor bluetooth audio quality (I am using KOSS UR-40 and small SE headphones). I have new TP2 and high tones via BT are deformed (I can't stand that sound!!!)... I tried cab files from here but it doesn't work for me. (anyway - then TF3D didn't start + no improvement)
Some ideas? Please... I am very thankful for each help!!!
Some tips for regs? Some new drivers?
have you tried adding the DWORD "LineSpeed" with a value of 320 to HKLM\Software\WIDCOMM\Plugin\AV\ ?

modifying the registry / total commander
Hey j393567 ,
I found this by trial, if you use total commander & go to the directory as posted above. In Total Commander, there is an option to +add+ if you hold down / or double click on the +add+; then a new screen will pop up & ask you if you want to "Dword" . I just type in the "linespeed". Another screen will pop up & ask for a value, this is where I entered "320". This should save the new entry.
I am using a Sony/Ericsson HBH-DS205. Move up from a Fuze & now trying on the Tilt2
Im using a TP2 on verizon and cant seem to find the folder HKLM. Yes im a total noobster. Please help thank you!

Here is a cab for it.
Now for the " Learn to do it on my own" Part of the post. First thing you need is a mobile reg editor. I use Total commander, But there are others. Open total commander and click on Plug ins, you will see 3 folders HKCR, HKCU, and HKLM. Click on HKLM then go to software and click there, then WIDCOMM, then Plugin, Then AV, Now click on add, Type in Linespeed in the boxes below put a dot in Dword. Click ok. A box will pop up make the value 320 and click ok. Now reboot and your done.
Thank you very much Zelendel!!!!

I even used resco registry editor but the second value "isrir1" is not present. There is only "isrir" and that doesn't contain "parm". The other values I already changed to "0".
Missing too
The ROM I'm using is also missing the Irsir1 entry. I'm assuming that I can just add this entry into my registry. I've just finished doing this so I'll watch for a while to see if I notice any improvements. I did have the other three entries and they were all set to 0 so I don't think that I'll see much of a change.
SOS
alryt,i am trying to set the values for the second step and keep members informed.sorry for the inconvenience,but i had some screen shots taken when i did the tweaking.till then,i request all members who havent tried the tweaking to abort the process coz dont want any undesirable problems cropping up.i need some senior members and chefs for help.sorry once again.if i find it,i will provide screenshots to the process again.IN ANY WAY IF SOME1 FINDS SUMTHING FISHY AFTER TWEAKING THE DEVICE,RE-FLASH THE ROM.

the 1st post already says that if u are using wm6.5,reg edits are being performed by chefs to enhance the battery life.
What really happens is this.
If anyone is curious regarding what they are actually effecting they appear fairly straightforward.
Code:
Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\AsyncMac1\Parms
Default value type and value are
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:1
Change to
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:0
The NDISWAN implementation in Windows CE includes a HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\AsyncMac1\Parms registry key. This key contains a set of subkeys that allow you to configure values that are specific to the WAN miniport driver.
So, this enables power management for the WAN Miniport driver.
If you want more info as to exactly what the WAN miniport driver is/controls: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms890616.aspx
They appear to only apply to RAS and connectivity utilizing the PPP protocol (
Code:
Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Irsir1\Parms
Default value type and value are
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:1
Change to
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:0
This controls the IrDA components – this will enable power management for the IR COMM.
Code:
Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\PPTP1\Parms
Default value type and value are
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:1
Change to
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:0
Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\L2TP1\Parms
Default value type and value are
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:1
Change to
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:0
The last 2 will enable power management for the PPTP and L2TP transport protocols.
Still i dont know y Irsir1 is invisible to many users.
This is only an copy and past of an useful article found on this page:

Being on a 3G Network or constantly looking for Network alternatives does require the Device to work and eat up battery. So the below tweak is to set the Network to GSM only, but if you want 3G then you can anytime go to settings and change it back to 3G. Either by going to Setting/System/Phone and disabling Auto from there or add these below Registries.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting]
"Last_SMS_Tick"=dword:00000000
"ShowPDPPage"=dword:00000001
"RefreshPINStatus"=dword:00000001
"EnableAutoPickupSec"=dword:00000001
"ShowNITZPage"=dword:00000001
"ShowUMTSBandPage"=dword:00000001
"ShowPINPage"=dword:00000001
"PhoneSettingExt-DLL"="PhoneAdvanced.dll"
"ONSDisplayRule"=dword:00000001
"QOSTrafficClass"=dword:00000004
"LongNamePrefix"="3G"
"Enable3GLongNamePrefix"=dword:00000001
"UnattendedModeTimer"=dword:00001F40
"ShowALSPage"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting\BandType]
"ItemValue4"=dword:00000003
"ItemName4"="UMTS(2100+800)"
"ItemValue3"=dword:00000002
"ItemName3"="GSM(1900+850)+UMTS(1900+850)"
"ItemValue2"=dword:00000001
"ItemName2"="GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(900+2100)"
"ItemValue1"=dword:00000000
"ItemName1"="Auto"
"ItemCount"=dword:00000004
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting\NetworkType]
"ItemValue3"=dword:00000002
"ItemName3"="WCDMA"
"ItemValue2"=dword:00000001
"ItemName2"="GSM"
"ItemValue1"=dword:00000000
"ItemName1"="Auto"
"ItemCount"=dword:00000003
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\UMTS]
"OpMode"=dword:00000001
3. Backlight Settings
Third Important Tweak is the Backlight Settings. The interval in which the Backlight Turns off Automatically, the Dimness of the Back light, etc.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\BackLight
"Brightness"=dword:00000002 ; Brightness Level Set to 2 on Battery Power
"ACBrightness"=dword:00000002 ; Brightness Level Set to 2 on AC Power
"BatteryTimeout"=dword:0000001E ; Turns off Backlight(Dim) if device unused for 30seconds on Battery Power
"ACTimeout"=dword:0000003C ; Turns off Backlight(Dim) if device unused for 30seconds on AC Power
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\Timeouts]
"ACSuspendTimeout"=dword:0000012C ; Turns off device(Sleep) if unused for 5minutes on AC Power
"ACSuspendTimeoutSave"=dword:0000012C
"BattSuspendTimeout"=dword:0000003C ; Turns off device(Sleep) if unused for 5minutes on Battery Power
"BattSuspendTimeoutSave"=dword:0000003C
Although the AC Power tweaks are not relevant for Battery Life but just included.
Now as the Tweaks mentioned above are Constant for everyone so I've made a Installation File of it to straight away install it to your Devices. Download the file below and install to any device and just restart the Device.
Installation file missing.

thanks.
so if you install advanced configuration tools and do the tweaking, then there is no need for the above registry tweaks given by pejarm or what????

the 1st post already says that if u are using wm6.5,reg edits are being performed by chefs to enhance the battery life.

I understand what you said about cooked wm6.5 ROMS already having these registry edits entered. All I was trying to point out was that the ROM that I am currently using didn't have the Irsir1 entry and so I just wondering if I could manually enter it myself.

. . . . Or . . . .
If we use the CAB file that Pajerm gave us it will do the registry tweaks for us so we don't have to use the advanced configuration tool or do the registry tweaks manually.
Correct?
Not Experimented yet,but surely will.
