Unable to open web pages locally - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

I was writing a few html-based apps and realized that PIE won't open any local .htm files. It loads them from the web just fine, but won't open any from the storage card or internal storage. PIE just crashes and I have to soft reboot. The pages load fine with Opera Mobile, but I want them to run on PIE. I tried opening html help files from other software packages installed on my phone with the same results. I have a Tilt running Dutty's Diamond 6.1 ROM.
Any ideas?

sorry I didn't see that there was a thread especially for questions.

opera on sd card

I had opera on my installed on my device, worked perfect.
I have now installed opera on my sd card after a hard reset, opera works fine. HOWEVER if i get a text message with a link and click the link I get a failure message.
If i copy and paste the link it works fine.
Anyone seen this behaviour ? Do I need to have opera on my sd card only ?
Yes, I have Opera installed on card and cannot use hyperlinks, I thought it was a problem with Opera.
Switched back to Device and all works fine. Ashame as Opera takes up alot of space.
I think id rather install to card and copy/paste links, it's to much space for my liking.
I had that problem. I did not make the opera the default browser. Like u said, when someone sends me a hyperlink, pie opens the site. Go to the options on the opera, and uncheck box for default browser. This will eliminate the copy and paste.
I have installed Opera on my SD Card . No problems with links . M y main problem is that after running Opera I cannot run some of my programs such as ? TextMaker ? and ? PlanMaker? . I need to do a soft-reset to enable these programs to run again which can be managed but is quite a bother.

Opera mobile now doing FLASH video

enjoy folks
http://gadgetmix.com/index/?p=1507
I can copy 2 of the files, but I can't overwrite or delete the original Opera 9.exe in the Windows folder. I've tried using Total Commader and ActiveSync file manager - and neither lets me delete or overwrite the old Opera 9 file. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Petrov.
according to the article, the performance is poor and the keyboard keeps popping up everytime you locate flash content on a page. Could be tricky for some to install and then it has to be re-installed everytime the phone is reset.
who needs the hassle ?
okay i tried it and it doesnt work really well. but i forgot to do a backup. can anyone give me a link for the original touch hd opera build which works fine?
thanks a lot
It works but very slow so you cannnot really use it. Finally my Opera crashes with the message "A problem has occured with Opera9.exe. Please tell Microsoft ..." I had to do a soft reset once ...

All I did when I tried a beta was remove the new install with "remove programmes" via the start button and the default browser reappeared.
I installed the Flash Player and, even though I couldn't copy the new Opera 9.exe across (I did copy the other two files across successfully), Opera now plays the Youtube video through Opera. However, the video is a slide show even once it's fully loaded - so it's not really usable.
This may be because I couldn't copy the new Opera 9.exe across to the /windows folder...

HELP: Opera button disappeared

basically, i have been playing around with my opera to try and update it so i can view flash based content on websites within the browser.
ive managed to get this to work so now i can see youtube on the actual website! and also videos/sound files on the bbc website and other flash based websites.
i upgraded to opera 2808 and installed flashplayer7 for ppc from adobe and made a plugin file with a flash plugin in that too.
now my opera does work but i need to go into the opera file in explorer and click on the operaL file. it wont work if i go to the internet tab or to the programs list and choose it from there. the logo has dissappeared. i have the original orange ROM and havent had a windows movile before so have no idea how to change anything like the logos or to reset the programs buttons. if anyone can help i will happily buy you a beer!

How to back up opera 10 settings/bookmarks

This was easy with opera 9 but with opera 10 I do not know how to save the settings/bookmarks so I can restore them after flashing.
I am using Valkyrie v5.4.23517 FireStormLEO.
Anyone know how to back up opera 10?
Anyone know anything about this? have search but cant find anything for opera 10.
is it just a case of backing up all the opera file in the windows directory?
what ive been doing my last couple flashes is i just active sync my phone
explore
windows mobile device or whatever
program files
i drag the entire opers 10 folder out, flash, install opera 10 then activesync and go back to the program files folder and copy and replace the opera 10 folder from your desktop.
its a lil bland but since you gotta sync to flash anyway your not really going outta your way.
passwords and all that are still working but this is the only method ive found
Prior to using Valkirie 5.5Leo I used to copy two folders from ProgramFiles>>>Opera10>>>Profiles>>>datastorage and secure these two folders contains 9 favorites and password etc. but now since Opera10 is cooked into the rom there is no opera10 folder in the progfiles...it will be either in windows files there I already looked but could not find another place is the rgistry which I have to still check.

Try asking here:

As all Opera experts are around that thread
And donĀ“t forget to vote
There is no opera 10 folder in program files.
There are opera files in the windows directory but opening it under active sync takes ages. I can be waiting several mins for the folder to show (windows 7 64). I can open it with total comander quickly and this is what I used to do to back up the opera6.adr file to the memory card for opera 9.
I did look through the above thread but couldn't find an answer. Perhaps I will post there if backing up the files in the windows folder doesn't work.
edit: there is a folder called profile in the windows directory that is full of opera files. i will see if backing up this works.
Don't you just use the inbuilt Opera Sync thing?

What I do is create an Opera Link account. Then you can sync your links on your start page each time you flash. This will save your links on the web and each time you flash and then sign in to the Opera Link they will pull down and display in your start page of Opera 10.
I had to D/L Opera to me desktop to create the link account but then you can delete the PC version and only run the mobile version.

thanx for sharing this info . Now I got a link account too. Let's run a firmware upgrade now and see if it really works
I too am curious about it working. It keeps the links, but what about passwords and other settings?

No, it doesn't keep those. Opera link only saves your Bookmarks and the Start Page links. You'll have to reenter your settings and passwords everytime you freshly install opera.
sure?

[Q] Need help recovering Bookmarks in Opera Mini

I have lost the ability to open opera mini 5 with all my bookmarks saved - Out of the blue I get a error saying "The file opera mini 5wm armv4 cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found....."
I can still access all the files the program contains on the computer as well as on the phone itself. Its only when I click on the icon to start opera do I get this message. I am sure that the bookmarks are contained in one of those files so even if I had to copy it and past it into a new copy of the program. I just don't know where to find them and how to do it.
I have grown used to just copying the folder from my computer with Opera mini instead of reinstalling the cab each time I did a hard reset. I realized I could just copy and past the shortcut and opera mini would be back like always with all my bookmarks etc. I never bothered to use opera link to save my bookmarks.
I tried a hard reset, tried recopying the file from my computer, and even tried to load it on a different touch pro 2 that I have lying around. I still get the same message. I have seen some posts about not this particularly but generally about this errror message. The solutions seemed complicated involving editing certain codes and seemed a little beyond my reach (though if that is my only choice I will try) Has anyone had this issue and can anyone help me. I have bookmarks that go back a while and it would be a shame to have to start all over.
Thanks
Steve

I guess you installed it on memory card, and that's how you tried to run it on the other device... If you have modified Opera Mini executable (OperaMini5-WM-armv4.exe), as you obviously did, it won't be able to run anymore until you reinstall it. Go to m.opera.com, download and install.
Nothing too complicated, just uninstall original one and delete all it's files before installing it again.

and then
I appreciate the attempt to help but thats not the problem it has to do with a certificate. I can reinstall off the cab but I wont have my bookmarks though I will give that a try.
thanks
can anyone help recover my bookmarks?
