Modified ROM image with 27Mb r/w flash disk for Magician. Qu

Hi, all !
Here
you can download os rom image files from
ftp.xda-develoeprs.com ftp at /Magician/anansky folder
WWE OS ROM image in booloader sd-card backup format, patched to reach the following result:
1. ExtROM completely removed out from flash memory
2. Space of ExtROM joined to \Storage part of Magician memory, makes it extended as up, as 26,72Mb, fully readable and writable
How to use it:
Fully backup you Magician (will be hard reseted), copy all files from ExtROM and \Storage card to SD-card 'cause they will be formatted !
Use downloaded image as SD ROM Image, using well-described procedure from xda-developers.com ftp site at \magician\backup1
Description at file Procedure.doc, but i don't know whos author (great thx to him)
write attached image image to SD card, flash you Magician and enjoy !
This patch is really safe - don't worry.
Note: if you will up/downgrade you OS ROM to non-patched version, before flashing you MUST back-up all files from \Storage folder \cause it's size returns to original 7,6Mb.
For more ease use of this new feature i give results of my explorations to my brother, which now studing computer sciense in NZ
- he promise to write useful program to enable this feature much more easy way and flexibly divide space between ExtROM and\Storage parts.
But, before he write such program, i will patch new Magician OS ROMs as soon, as they will be appears at xda-developers.com.

in the other post you've explained that \ext_rom and \storage is similar memory type. but does this mean they are incompatible with "main memory"? what i mean to ask is, if you've gone so far, would it be possible to join \ext_rom, \storage and main memory into one? and use only a SD card for storage?

deoli, ExtROM and \Storage is a similar type, it is flash memory.
it's cannot be joined with main (RAM) memory.
only one way - it's develop some kind of swap/paging memory driver, but it's significantly degrade device performance - so is not good idea

its not so easy to give exactly algoritm how to find this bytes in unknown os rom, and playing with rom may be dangerous for unexpirienced user, so i still cant post info, may be later

download are very slow, and limited for users number.

Give you a SD card backup ROM? or Shiped upgrade ROM? I can only make a SD card backup, and do not have the shiped upgrade ROM.

Save it and then you're good to go.
It's much similar to the old Core kitchen...so those of you who used it ...will feel comfortable with it. Regenerated batch scripts, better, and i hope bug free.

None that i know of. It shouldn't have any problems.
But i strongly reccomend that if you don't have a HTC Wizard to ask before you try and do anything.
It's written also in the tutorial
I don't take credit for some of the applications that are included in this kitchen ... like bepe's package tool , tadzio's modified mamaich tools...and of course some of the 3rd party apps.
I take the credit only for the whole thing....i busted my ass of to gather all that and make them easy to use
The moddifications :
Almoust all programs are included already. I would only have to edit some batchfiles to use other programs or other commands for same.
If you know what you are doing, you could use it yourself
For Hermes there are some neat stuff in Tools\TTools - thx to tadzio of course
We use one RUU you use another....stuff like that
One friend of mine built an Terra ROM with this...it's not that hard

Hermes Please

First question, tried to dump ROM and I am getting an error
Error ! There is no nk.nbf in the core/extract/source
I place the ROM NBH in that folder, originally was name RUU_signed.nbh, I tried to rename to nk.nbh, didn't matter.
I am using a hermes.
See next post waiting for the Hermes modifications.

You should use the "Dump nb and bin" and use the "Extra" way
The HTC Wizard uses a nk.nbf ..not a nbh. so...extract the .nb and run it thru the Dump nb and bin ... the extra option
You could extract the .nb with the little app in Tools\TTools\Tadzio\ ROMBaker.exe
You have to rename the *.nb into OS.nb and move it into Extract\ folder
It will split....but you won't be able to make it back unless you edit the
C:\Core\Tools\Batch\Create_ROM.bat according to your device....

The .nbh has to be extracted by nbhextract.exe in "tools" folder. then you will recieve os.nb, splash.nb, spl.nb etc
the os.nb can be placed in "extract" folder and then dump it by using "dump .nb and .bin" from extract panel.

but he has to use the "extra" option in "Dump .nb and .bin"
his rom is different ..anyway...i will make it work for hermes too, just give me a day

I cooked a terra rom with this - by using the wingdump imgf_raw.bin and the xip from terra rom. you dump the rum by using "dump .nb and .bin"
The only mistake i did - was editing the .hv files BUT i forgot to convert the boot.rgu back and that bricked my device.
But you can cook a rom. YOu only have to use PKT "manually". That´s all. Just follow the steps from the kitchen.
I cooked for example a terra rom without transcriber, autoupdate und included batterystatus and totalcommander - no problems with this, when using Aserg upgrade_rom.bat for falshing.
BTW - do you have an official WWE ROm for flashing - if something goes wrong? OK - it will be WM5 then but you can flash?

I wouldn't test it on my phone because I don't have it CID Unlocked and couldn't risk it getting bricked as Tmobile hasn't released the official rom for download yet but i'll see what I can do as into building a rom. If you get a free chance this week, wanna walk me through it?

So if I understand this correctly, if someone posted their dump from the Wing I could proceed to cook and flash to my unbranded P4350 using Aserg's method without the possibility of bricking since i have the official HTC WWE that I can re-flash?

For the wing dump you need the XIP from terra dump - but you find it in the Wing-dump thread from Herald forum.
And yes - you can cook - if you have an official rom. SO no worry to brick - you can go back to WM5. lol

I'm about to try cooking one up today, I read the tutorial and it doesn't look too bad. If I can find the tmobile wing wm6 rom, i'll base it off that otherwise imma have to use a wm5 rom. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

I will give this a shot as well. I believe you can find the wing OS and XIP in the Herald mobile 6 forum.

Question for new Wing User

Hi,
I just got a T-mobile wing and am looking for resources for it. I had the T-mobile MDA and found numerous great ROMS, Themes, and Software for it on this forum however, it seems like the Wing doesn't have nearly as much.
Does anyone know of other forums that are dedicated only to the wing?
I'm particularly interested in a good ROM. But, I don't really like the 4 I have come across in the Herald thread.

I used the PDAVIET rom forever, but the new Touch-IT v2.3 is currently the best one available by far... so I'd recommend using it.

Thanks for the responses. I appreciate it. Now if I can just find an x-button program like I had on my mda. I hate when all the programs stay open and kill all the memory.

Figured out part of what I did wrong.. Downloaded the attached file PocketCM-0.15 and couldnt find the file... duuuuhhh.. so I have downloaded the ROM. Now what is the PocketCM for ?

PocketCM is an advanced contact list application.
you should try it its very good.

Usage:
1. Try the [Diamond_PhoneCanvas Patch_Eng.cab] first.
2. If [Diamond_PhoneCanvas Patch_Eng.cab] doesn't work, try extract [Diamond_PhoneCanvas Patch.zip] to /Windows of your devices.
3. If it still doesn't work, try the new [Diamond_PhoneCanvas_full_Eng_without_battery_icon.cab]
Notice:
1. Doesn't work on CDMA ROM.
2. You should enable PhoneSkin.
3. Test on dutty's 3.6b Lite ROM.

I am using Dutty's 3.6b Lite.
Haven't test on stock roms.

how is the memory usage of this compared to the stock htc dialer?

Well, I found "phcanOverbmp.dll" can't be overwrite during installing.
I am uploading a new cab without this file.

just a recomendation
you can make the porogram rename phcanOverbmp.dll to phcanOverbmp.dll.bak and then place the new phcanOverbmp.dll in the windows folder..after a softreset we can then delete the phcanOverbmp.dll.bak manually

I renamed phcanoverbmp.dll manually, but again can't install. Same error

The new "Diamond_PhoneCanvas Patch.cab" have uploading. Have been tested on dutty's rom 3.6 lite.

I've installed it. Now testing...

there is, just do a quick search on this x1 forum or in the development one.

I'm "translating" it, there are various languag files it, which I overwrite with the native language. Think that this is the only solution for it.

same here, I already have sdkcerts installed, don't know what is the problem.

...and needless to say, I cannot live without them. Would it be possible to have separate cabs for the new dialler, task manager and comms manager from the TouchPro2?

I checked the files in this cab, and I've found language files for all the languages in the previous "old" TF3D.
Will this become swedish if I install it on a swedish phone (like the old one did) ?
