T-mobile [email protected] on 8525 - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Does anybody know how to get the [email protected] service working on the 8525. All I really need is the SIP settings for t-mobile. I cannot find this information anywhere and when I asked t-mobile they had no clue.

TMobile's Hotspot @Home doesn't use SIP; it uses a protocol called UMA -- Unlicensed Mobile Access. It has been described as GSM tunneled through IPSec.
HP has one Windows Mobile device which uses UMA. You'll probably need to obtain one, extract the program, mod it to run on an 8525. The settings for TMobile UMA have been posted at Howardforums.com under the TMObile Group, [email protected] subgroup.
This might be possible, but it is a massive project. People have generally not succeeded on getting UMA phones working on other networks which support UMA (e.g. a TMobile [email protected] phone working on a Rogers Hotzone or Orange Unique network).

My wife is a tmobile employee she said they had a hard enough time getting @home working reliably the way it is, so getting it work on a non uma phone may not be possible.

Thanks!
Hey guys, thanks for all the knowledge. I now own a Mogul and am switching to Sprint (faster network, GPS, and I will actualy have service!) so the need for [email protected] has diminished. However, it would be a good project to try and produce a program to utilize the UMA...Anyways, thanks for all the help!

CAB?

UMA/GAN Configuration

Hello,
I've read that WM6 supports UMA/GAN access. Anyone knows if there's a way and if so, how to configure it?
UMA, or GAN as it's called now, requires that the handset support it.
There are still not many many of those handsets; UMA today has a list here: http://www.umatoday.com/mobileHandsets.php
Not sure if the list is complete.
Hmm, one of the new features of WM6 is UMA support. So are you saying that there must be some hardware changes (even if the phone has both wifi and cellular radios) before UMA can be used?
Yes, the OS alone cannot give you UMA functionality, even if the phone has both WiFi and Cellular radio.

does anyone know if you could port UMA capability from a WM6 device like the HP iPAQ 510 to an to an HTC device?

No; or at least that wouldn't give you UMA.
To give real UMA functionality there is also hardware involved.
UMA
Has anyone looked into this?
does anyone know if the SE Xperia X1 will support UMA? I've tried looking all over the net, but no one has any concrete conclusions
uma / gan for winmo handsets
All htc handsets that have wifi are capable of being used as UMA / GAN handsets - source HTC technical team.
Problem is, win 6.x is now old hat, and companies will not spend money on software development, when they want you to buy new devices.
Companies - such as 'Kineto' are writters of this software, they have said they are currently writting software for android series phones as an add on. But have said yes its easy to develop the software to run on wifi winmo's devices, just no money to be made from it commercially.
But then, will your network provider pay for the add on software for ur device, it was confirmed that orange was in talks but at that time no deal had been reached for patching andriod devices.
So its down to money again, as the device can support it, just no software as of yet!

ROM Updates

I have a Telus P4000 (Titan) that I'm using on the Alltel network... I've had no trouble converting Sprint Apache's to Alltel (for both voice and EVDO), but having little luck getting the P4000 to connect to EVDO on Alltel.
That being said, I've updated the PRL (manually) and done the basic activation and programming already. I'd like to know if there is a way to update the P4000 with the WM6 ROM for the Mogul from Sprint. The two devices are hardware identical, but I'm worried about the protected (not over-written) portions of the operating system...
In other words, will the ROM update give me access to the Sprint data network (which I can easily port to Alltel) or will that portion of the ROM (the NAM, etc.) be locked to Telus? I'm capable of re-programming the MMC/MNC and NAM settings, but I have no clear/concise list of codes or data from which to operate...
I have a P4000 to use for testing purposes, but my first obstacle is finding a way to load the Sprint ROM to the P4000 without generating a country ID error or a "vender" error (yes, it's vender, not vendor in the error report).
Any help from those (Vijay, Buzz, etc.) with the appropriate skills to get a no-ID RUU would be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help and advice. And thanks XDA-Developers for giving us a Titan-specific forum... Those of us with both GSM and CDMA devices welcome the changes here.
You would have to try flashing it and see. The Sprint update does not come with an ExtROM update and the Radio/Data settings are also seperate from the ROM. The ROM just updates the OS, applications, and drivers. If it does work, you shouldn't have any problems. You would also need a modded RUU for the setup app too, that right there would prevent you from even trying. Once someone makes that, you can atleast try.
Update...
I've already tried both the Sprint WM6 ROM Update (see first post) and now the Hermes RUU No ID without success...
If anyone has a RUU for the Titan that's ID free (or can construct one), I'd like to try flashing the Sprint ROM update to the P4000. I have a 6700 as my backup, so I'll not worry about the P4000...
Thanks in advance,
Mick
How were you able to get a foreign ESN to work on the Alltel network?
Foreign ESN on Alltel
Just for informational purposes... Alltel will activate any ESN as long as the handset is compatible.
If you carry a phone into a retail center, the representative will look at a phone and either refuse to activate it or discourage activating it if the handset is not Alltel branded (and occasionally even if it is).
However, if you call Alltel and ask them to activate a handset (after having verified its compatibility) and just give them the ESN over the phone, they have little choice but to activate it. It's your account, you can use whicever handset you like.
I have activated Sprint ESN's, Telus Mobility (Canada) ESN's and Verizon ESN's on Alltel... A bit of PST prgramming is required to provision the handset to use the Alltel data network and an occasional call to data tech support to retrieve authentication keys, but overall it's been a simple process.
The greatest benefit to activating an ESN on the Alltel network (regardless of origin) is that Alltel is contract-free if you provide your own handset. So I've bid goodbye to GSM until their data speeds are comparable to CDMA... and I have no contract.
Hope this helps...
Mick
No ID RUU for the Titan...?
Anyone... ? Anyone... ? Bueller... ? Anyone... ?
Has anyone found, created or hacked a No ID RUU for the Titan/Mogul/PPC6800?
Thanks in advance,
Mick
Will Verizon activate an Alltel phone? I really like the black 6800.

Blackberry Connect

Has anybody gotten blackberry connect to work on a Herald?
I just tried it on mine and ended up hardreseting cause it would never boot completely after it.
Help
Are you saying that you cant get the gprs settings for the black berry plan?
I am running the employee blackberry plan on my wing and it works great.
If you are using the black berry internet plan you need to have your gprs connecting to wap.voicestream.com
where did you get the cab for your wing
Cab
I got the cab here:
http://thinkabdul.com/2007/05/30/do...obile-5060-smartphones-and-pocket-pc-devices/
The issue is I install it and it totally hangs my herald up to the poing that not even a reset works. I guess I'll try and see now with WM6, because I did that before upgrading.
Anybody know why it doesn't work?
Thanks
Is this only working on the factory rom or a cooked rom? Im going to test this tonight anyway but i like my Touch layout but wouldnt mind testing this. According the website it changes out the Windows icons and home page to match the needs of RIM.
I will post once i test.
After many hours of testing it doesnt work on the Herald at this time. The software is only good for the Dash. I have to finish my testing from work because it seems to only accept a BES server. I got the service onto the Dash. I will post later how it works but to be honest this process what not worth the trouble.
Maybe someone can work on a cab file to make this compatable with the Herald. Also Xavier, custs of T-Mobile cant use the BB service with the Wing. Employees are able to use it because you are not truely on the BES on windows you are using webmail to bypass the firewall. This software once it works on all Windows mobile phones will generate a PIN which is required for blackberry users to use its service.
Hope this info helps.
Hard reset your device, install the blackberry software, but install the software in the phone memory, and then synchronize etc. basicaly u need to have a clean device to have it working, i encountered the same problem i followed this procedure and it works on HTC P4350. a.k.a. Herald.
is it possible to get BlackBerry Messenger on a winmo device? if u have blackberry connect does that mean you also get blackberry messenger? or is blackberry connect only for emailing? (which new winmo devices from carriers seem to do just fine with push email). thx
Blackberry Connect not working on my Wizard
I'm trying to get Blackberry Connect running on my Wizard. I have a couple of issues that I haven't seen addressed anywhere in the forums.
First, my info:
Device = HTC Wizard G4, Cingular 8125.
OS = WM 6.1 TNT.19199 v2.
Carrier = AT&T w/ a PDA Enterprise data plan, which allows BBConnect
My company runs Blackberry Enterprise Server.
I was able to get Blackberry Connect 4.0 from here: http://www.sems.org/entry.asp?ENTRY_ID=225
Does anyone have a more recent version?
Do you know if I still need to use a hex editor to spoof my OS version? I haven't tried that yet.
Does anyone currently have BBConnect running successfully on an AT&T data plan using your 8125's IMEI number?
I installed BBConnect 4, it rebooted, I tried activating the BB, but it just said "Not Connected". Occasionally if I go to Utility and click "Register" the status screen will say "Service: Network Available" then "Data Tunnel Available" then back to "Not Connected".
Can I please hear from anyone running BBConnect on a Wizard? What is your configuration? What is your version of BBConnect? Where did you get it? What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance,
Dave

I am having this very issue. I have a new Wing, I am on Tmobile, I have a BES data plan for my sim. Lastly I have the BBC 4.0.0.97...Installed without issue to phone memory. But will never generate a pin. Even speaking to BES server over GPRS or 802.11 etc, it will not activate my corporate account. I took my card to Tmobile and tested on a true bb device.. Worked no issue.
So I would tend to agree with you regarding these folks not truely on BES service over celluar means. You might be catching internally via 802.11 but even that seems odd.
So, please if the "wing'ers" have this working share the info..
thanks all

[APR. 10, 2009] T-Mobile Hotspot Login 2.6.1 (U.S.A) Now works with Starbucks!!

I was browsing through the T-Mobile website and found an update for ATLAS (aka WING).
As some of you may know (those who have the T-Mobile total internet package); You were once able to walk into any STARBUCKS and log into it as a T-Mobile HotSpot and get free WiFi. Then they decided to use ATT as their WiFi provider leaving us T-Mo customers very confused... at least I was.
The fact of the matter is that you can still use your T-Mo login at STARBUCKS and everywhere there used to be a T-Mo HotSpot and now ATT. You just have to log in as a roamer.
Now, You can use tis cab to bypass PIE and connect quicker without wasting so much time.
After trying to install it on my MDA (Wizard) I realized that it would not install on 6.1 (got a message that it was not a supported device)
So I decided to experiment.
I made a new cab out of the packages (it was a cab with 2 cabs inside it all of which were platform dependent)
Now it should work on all ppc devices and maybe smartphone too.
WHAT YOU NEED:
T-Mobile HotSpot Login ID and Passcode
The CAB attached.

Anyone with T-Mobile USA and a Jade

I ordered one and will have it next week. Anything to do or advice? I don't currently have a data plan and don't plan on getting one.
I'm using my Jade with T-Mobile USA. I have no data plan, just a prepaid card. I don't call that much so this was the cheapest way for me. Most of my calls are made from my home land line or from work. Jade helps anywhere between, on the soccer field and on the beach. You can buy 1000 minutes for $100 and you have full year to use it. Not bad. I have no problems with coverage. It is similar to T-Mobile I used in Europe, but it is much cheaper here. I paid $0.50 per minute there.
I have a Fave 5 plan and will be trying to install a cab. file to have the Fave 5 stuff on my phone. I can get to some wap sites on my Samsung Behold t919. I hope that I can get to those sites on the Jade like I can now without the WIFI. Do you ever use the internet without the WIFI?
Got UMA?
Anybody in America using T-Mobile UMA service successfuly? I bought the phone from Ebay from someone in Australia, so i never had UMA software installed like the ones from Orange UK. I thought about flashing Orange software thinking it should get UMA access using my T-Mobile SIM.

I don't know what UMA service is.
UMA info
UMA lets you talk over a wifi connection and automatically switch between wifi and GSM towers.
The benefit is apparent to anyone who gets terrible reception in an office building. If the building has public wifi (or it's your building and you have the network password). you get fully digital voice and data service even if you have no cell reception.
T-Mobile has many Blackberrys that have this feature along with a few other phones. The only device with WM6.1 and UMA I've found is the Jade. However since the Jade was never sold by T-Mobile, they don't have software for it. The only software that seems to support it is the unique software from Orange.
My goal is to skip the Orange branding crap, and get the benefits of UMA. I work in an office building as described, and I need WM6.1 or better for work software.
http://w ww.umatechnology.org/overview/
Hopefully somebody with a big brain can help me figure this out. I've been somewhat sucessfull at flashing roms on my jade, but I'm not sure I'm ready to cook one from scratch.
Thanks for any help,
-Rick
