i am tired of the 3 second vibration every time i get e text but i need it to vibrate so i cant just disable vibrate. i did search and found the reg edit to change the length of vibrate but it only applies to incoming calls not text, so my phone rings with a 1 second vibrate which is a huge improvement but it still vibrates for 3 seconds when i get a text. i looked around in the reg a little but didn't find anything...
any ideas?

Change HKLM/SOFTWARE/OEM/VIB\STRENGTH_LOW from 1 to 0 wait 15 seconds or so and soft reset you should be happier with that...

Hey there
I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to change the default vibrate length of the XDA II when you recieve a text message (or a phone call)?
I find the 5 seconds or more it lasts at the moment much too long and was hoping it was possible to shorten it, is it possible?
Thanks for any help
I would like to know this as well, as I would like to make mine longer (like 10 seconds) because when I'm driving my modded Mustang, I don't always notice the vibration right away lol.
lng time ago, but i knew it was here

Yeah I knew that one with the phone calls. Anyone figure out how to change the vibration length for SMS yet?
It's very annoying when I get an SMS or other alert and the vibrate is a constant vibrate for 3-4 seconds.
Is there any way to change this so that it does a very short vibrate (e.g, 1s) or even 3 short vibrates one after the other?
I've seen the hacks like
HKCU\~ControlPanel\Sounds\~RingTone0\Script = "apw3r"
but not managed to get it to work.
Do you soft reset/reboot the device after making the changes?
Yes, I think so.
Vibration settings
I also am frustrated by the length of the vibration when getting a text message. Hope this Registry tweak will work.
Also, whenever I do a soft reset/reboot, my emits a number of long vibrations and several alert sounds, at intervals - would sure be nice to eliminate the vibrations during the boot-up sequence. Is there a Registry tweak for this, that anyone knows of?
i read the previous posts/replies about how to change it in the registry.. i have the 8525 and it didnt work... i set my phone to VIBRATE, then when i recieve a txt message it vibrates 3 times and hard as hek... i am not concerned about when its not on vibrate or ringer is set to off... just vibrate mode... how do i get it to vibrate only once, and not as hard?
thanks
tony
Would be nice to have a vibrate that was "hard as heck". I usually can't feel mine at all.
Maybe there's something like ringer script just like ringer( something like arpw3 )

already did that, im not so stupid like that.
i just 5 minutes ago did hard reset. it works again. that was really strange, i didnt changed it so much.
LED and vibration by sms recieve works again.
but vibration is still too short, with mozart tone.
how i make vibration stronger and longer? i prefer about 7 sec.
Well, I didn't really think you where stupid, but WM isn't really logical sometimes, so splitting phone and notifications settings isn't always obvious.
Don't know if there are any tweak settings for the length of vibrations, but using phoneAlarm you could change how it vibrates.

have the audio alert last for 7 seconds. The only problem I have is I like the phone to pulse vibrate, but it seems like WM just does a full burst.
I'm having the same issues. ROM is the one that OliNex posted,
It's set in Sounds and Notifications, however it doesn't vibrate. Phone calls do.
I'v tried hard reset, I've tried soft reset, I've tried reflashing, but no success. Is there a registry setting somewhere?
Thanks

PS: My right hand volume control slider, refuses to go above 0 ...
For the owners : Does this device have a led notification?
For example , when you have a sms/missed call... Is there a led blinking to see if there is a missed call?
I dont wanna turn on the device to check that
yes there is a Mod for that, i was asking t he same question couple of days a go and i found the answer by googling it and guess what! i found it in this forum
but honestly i can't remember which forum or what i typed in google.
but it works well, when i have a missed call or message, the capacitive buttons lit but don't blink...
The green led blinks on a missed call, but has no other type of notifications. Not emails, SMS, tweets or Facebook messages. Red for low battery, green for missed calls.

pfff , and there is no setup to let it also blink on a SMS?
So now you NEED to turn on the device to see if you have an sms if you have the phone on silent?
Is there an option to vibrate every 10 min or something when a sms is received?
Yup, abit disappointed you can't turn it on for SMS/Email, but it's better than no visual alerts at all.
I think the best bit abit this phone is that it's few shortcomings are mostly in the software, which can be easily updated... *crosses fingers*
i've noticed that when you receive an sms, the phone vibrates (in my case, i only use viberation mode), and as soon you get the phone out of your pocket the screen turns on.
At first i tought I made the mistake to accidently press the power button while getting it out of my pocket, but afterwards when i took extra care the screen comes on when you take it out, it doesn't unlock tho.
