Question about choosing a Plaintronics headset - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Accessories

Hey what's up?
Just wondering what kind of Plantronics headset do you all have?
I'm looking for a headset that has good volume, and I can be able to hear the other person talking.
I was thinking about either 510, 520 or the 815.
Thanks a bunch.

plantronics 510
I have had 3 and love them..
I use the other models at work for a help desk.. I love them ALL..

Stay away from the 600 series. The control button on these is awful - completely unreliable.
(It looks like the 600 series is discontinued in favor of the 900 series though. 900 has a different design.)
Edit: I was wrong, 600 series units still exist within the Discovery line. Avoid them. I have an Explorer 300 series that is much more reliable, but isn't as comfortable and doesn't have the sound quality.)

I heard been looking around for a good headset for a while.
I tried Jabra BT8040, 8010, DogTag, SE DS980.
End up I'm using Motorola H12. Now no more people complain about I cannot hear your voice......
Motorola H12 is dual mic design... You can hear clearly walking on the street with wind... and people didn't complain... I love it now..

My Bluetooth Headset has SEVERE static!

Hello, I have a question. I have had two bluetooth headsets a Jabra 250v and now a Motorola H700. I am running a Q-Tek 9000 Universal device with the older ROM, not the latest one from I-Mate. I am receiving awful static even when the device is 1 foot from me. Is there any Bluetooth headset that anyone has had luck with that does NOT have static that actually sounds clear?
Thank you in advance!

 don't feel bad, i've used the most expensive and so I guess the cheaper and the more expensive does not make a bit of difference.
Same problem. QTEK 9000 with Motorola H700 Bluetooth headset. Lots of static... Tried four different brands of bluetooth headsets... and no luck!!
Any solutions ??
bluetooth sucks really....
its a pity that people still continue to make headsets after headsets, gadgets supporting the same lousy technology.....though its proven to suck in all directions....
the irony.....
S
i-mate jasjar & SE HBH660: no statics at all.
I have the Motorolla HT820. No static here too. Plus, with stereo sound to listen to music, nothing can beat that except the size.
Well, this is an interesting article to read.....
http://www.unstrung.com/document.asp?doc_id=58585
The guys who invented bluetooth laugh it out, and admit that the technology sucks and it wont last for long! Ericsson is pulling out of taking the technology further!

dreamtheather i'd prefer to laugh at you quoting an 18 month old article as gospel truth.
an analyst laughed, not the firm.
i'm a retail e-Commerce analyst. I laugh a lot.
why are you trying to incite flames when people are asking for help? if you can't help you may as well say so, or keep silent?
for the record, i have a SPV5000, tried with both orange original rom and i-mate test rom w/ 1.09.00 radio, 2 different headsets (Jabra BT800 and BlueAnt X3 Micro) and always have insufferable static, to the point that i'm tempted to send the device back to Orange (despite living in Sydney!)
any ideas/support would be greatly appreciated, and in my case, a (working) solution will give not just mojo, but a small paypal reward

Well, I was thinking on your *mode*, until i've reached a level of frustration that has no boundaries now! I'm not trying to get people to flame each other....its just hopeless and nothing can be done really, mainly because the design of the technology is the inherent problem. The mode of communication bluetooth uses is extremely prone to static noise and distortion, and nothing much can be done really. We have the latest headsets trying to use DSP technology to filter out the noise, but again, how far can it go really?
I guess the later devices to follow (perhaps BT 2.0 specs) may have better noise tolerance, but for now, i guess its what we have that we have to live with!
Wireless headset, the only option being through bluetooth is not very promising......thats why my rants
Anyway, sorry if i took my ranting a little overboard here!

Looks like BT is not as bad as some have suggested; BT to be adopted as a media streaming standard: http://www.t3.co.uk/news/247/general/general/bluetooth_set_to_replace_wi-fi_at_home
Thanks for ytour well considered reply
Might I add that I don't think you understand the level of static we're talking here. We're not talking the odd bit of crackle, you expect that.....even though my Nokia 6600, T68i, Motorola V3 etc don't crackle at all. We're talking full signal, phone 30cm away, can't hear what the other person is saying at all due do speakler crackle, signal dropout (just the earpiece) and noise.
bah.
and there was me thinking that we could all post our roms and see if there was a correlation. silly me
I agree with JohnH!! This is not some kind of a LITTLE static... I'm literally 40cm away from my QTEK9000 with a Motorola H700 Bluetooth Headset, and i barely can hear the person i'm talking to... :x This is so frustrating...
Cheers,
Paulo Rodrigues

I guess, its anyone and everyone who have a BT headset, would end up leaving a rant here.....its so damn horrible really

I've said it before and I'll say it again... bluetooth is a load of old tosh on the Universal... just like the phone!!
I had a similar problem and I tried the headset with another phone and it was fine, so I deleted/repaired it to the M5000, thinking it couldn't be that bad, and it was immediately much much better. You can get a bad pairing that makes things worse than normal, worth a try anyway...
Also recently I installed the latest radio stack this also appeared to make things even better.
Thanks Noony,
I'll try that - the annoying thing is that both my headsets (Jabra BT800, BlueAnt X3 Micro) work fine with my spare phone, a Nokia 6600.
Might be a good point too, I remember the BlueAnt headset was okay first call, second call was back to Jabra rubbish level!
Thanks for your suggestions!
Hi Everyone.
Like you all I have expreimented with low end and hi end bluetooth headsets - and experienced all of the same pain.
I have been able to have success only with the Blueant Suprtooth 1 and II. I know it is not a headset, but if you want an in car device then this is clearly the beast. Sound quality at both ends is just fantastic. Never drops the signal - can move it from car to car - it just rocks.
I get at least 6 weeks of use with the current Blueant Supertooth II between charges. If i need a personal headset when out and about - I simply use the ear pice. Not the best solution buit it works.
Hope that is usefl to someone.

Best Bluetooth

I know this is more of an opinion question, but..
What is the best blue tooth ear piece or head set to be used with the Titan. Please also post with any particular one that was noticeably bad.
thanks
VERY good results with the Plantronics Voyager 885. Mono and stereo in one. Good streaming and working controls (AVCRP and Handsfree).
Moto H700, Blueant Z9, Plantronics 510 are good. I've tried about 10 and those worked best, many seem to pick up static, others seem to sound very muffled.
For headphones, the Moto S9's work great for me. Amazing sound, better than some expensive wired heaphones I have.
another vote for motorola s9, stereo sound is great, call quality is good (i still cant figure out where the microphone is on this thing but people can hear me just fine)
just wish i could get custom ringtones to play in the earpeice

I have bee using the Samsung WEP500 and love it.

I hope when Sony WM6 phone hits the market this will be possible

Really? I bought it at bestbuy and was told my voice sounded horrible compared to my 510. I figured it just didn't play well with the Mogul
jabra bt8010
I have tried about 10 different ear pieces with my phone. I like the Jabra BT8010 the best. It serves two purposes. It can answer calls and with the extra adaptor piece it serves as bluetooth stereo. when u have it on the music setting you can hear all sounds (ringtones, warnings, voicecommand) thru the earpiece without the adaptor connected. That way you dont have to use that funky dongle to listen to music, etc. only bad thing is it picks up outside noise very easy.
another vote for bt8010
Aliph jawbone baby. Works like charm, never any static. By far the best bluetooth headset out there.

Jawbone and Tilt?

I am thinking about ordering the Jawbone. I would like to know your experiences with it and the Tilt. Please post.
works fine. I was just finished testing it with my friend. I was in front of the TV speaker (literally).. blasting away, and she can still hear me clearly.
I have used the Jawbone since it was released and it has NEVER let me down; great headset.
Worth the money in my opinion.
Works great for me
I originally bought the Jawbone for use with a previous phone and had no problems. When I moved on to the Tilt I found that the incoming audio was too low to be useful. After re-reading the user guide, I found I could increase the Jawbone's output volume very easily and did so. It now works perfectly for me. I'm a happy guy again.
I'm a big fan of this headset. I regularly make calls from busy airport waiting areas, restaurants, and noisy cars. All that the people on the other end hear is my voice. Remarkable.
yep, never had a minutes problem with mine. perfect combination!
I'm a Jawbone fanboy, however, the Jawbone inbound audio is lower on Tilt than other phones. I still use it as others still hear me clearly in noisy enviornments but I do have trouble hearing people in loud places even with the headset turned up to max. This is on 2 different Jawbones and only on my Kaiser. Maybe Tilt is better, don't know for sure.
I have the Jawbone and LOVE it!
For those saying they have low audio, you can fix that through a registry tweak.

No, Not really. I've tried all of them so far and there is no difference, it's still the same and it's lower than my Razr and 8525.
No problems with my Jawbone, people can't even tell I'm on it! Doesn't block wind well though, but its not supposed to.

Also how good is talktime in Jawbone ?
does it last 5hrs or more /less
Please
I love the Jawbone.. my only complain is the earbud keep falling off when you're in a hurry of putting it on. The earloop is a bit uncomfortable.
bottom line, it's a great piece of technology with not too great of ergonomic design. The earbud and earloop are detachable.
Great, great piece. Buy the Jabra ear gels and use them instead of the ones that come with the Jawbone. Work better.
Own a Jawbone for a while and works very well, as long as no direct wind into the mic. Other than that, I drove with the windows down and moonroof open and the other person could hear me clearly. Avg speed 65mph.
Also, I've been trying the BlueAnt Z9 headset with the Tilt, so far so good. Still testing though. Its a lot smaller and lighter than the Jawbone. The best part is, you can upgrade the firmware on the BlueAnt Z9 via USB/PC. Believe the latest is v3.4 now.
Wooty, just notice, my 100th post...

Which BT earpiece for my HTC Pro?

Guys I need to purchase another bt. Been using my Treo bt and it's getting kinda old. Read too many opinions on what works best. Thought about the Jawbone 2 but I hear it is too low. What is working well witih you? Thanks
Plantronics 925 works great for me.
I like the quality of the original jawbone, but for current generation stuff, I like the blue ant. I haven't tried a jawbone2 yet.

Tried lots of others, absolutely love it.
if you have a question

Best bluetooth headset for my epic?

I'm looking to get a new bluetooth earpiece and I was wondering what u guys are using.
I want all the goodies and dont care too much about price.
What r the best earpieces out right now?
Thanks!
Sent from my mighty Epic using XDA App.. Sweet!
I like the Blueant T1. It isn't cheap, but compared to other earpieces with similar features it is quite reasonable. The Q2 looks nice too, but is a little too "smart" for my tastes.
I swear I'm not trying to shill for Sammy but their WEP200 is well-made, tough, simple, small and good. And cheap. Only drawback is that you may have a bit of a struggle getting a good fit, but there are separate ear gels that help, like the one variety pack I bought at Best Buy last night made by Jawbone. I've been using this same WEP200 for going on 5 years, and never wanted another.
The Blueant T1 has worked great for me. You can find it on-line for about 49.00 and Best Buy runs them on sale sometimes. It will speak text and play Music.
check out the jawbone icon
I've gotten the Samsung wep 780 and 750 and other older ones bur I lose them
sent from my epic 4g with no 4g
Was originally looking at an earset but glad I found out about and bought a Blueant S4 speakerphone instead since it's mainly for driving. Anxiously waiting for Froyo on Epic so it can support hands-free voice dialing.
If you want comfort and really good quality get a motorola h710 and its not too expensive
Epic 4g
I'd go with either the Icon or the Motorola Finiti. Hopefully once 2.2 rolls around we'll get the same features, but on my Evo my Finiti would read all SMS and was amazing at voice commands and responses.
Blueant Q2. Expensive, but awesome.
Jawbone Icon here. Love it.
I've got a Blueant Q2 coming soon. I had a Z9 and Z9i before that. Anything Blueant is good. Some of the Z9s or Z9is can be had for $20 if you find a sale.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I have had 3 diffrent jawbone icons. All junk!

Plantronics Voyager 855 Stereo Bluetooth Headset
or the one I have which is
Samsung HM3500, which is also stereo with included earbuds adapter.
Excellent products. Look them up. Both are A2DP of course. I use the HM3500 with my Vizio TV all the time.
Voyager Pro +
It works great, sounds great, supports A2DP so I can listen to my media through the earpiece (ie, music, youtube, podcasts, etc.) and it's comfortable.
Plantronics Discovery 975 Connects super fast to the epic!!!
It always reconnects when I separate the two devices, unlike others when they separate, the earpiece turns off.
So you have to turn it back on, for it to pair again.
Very light weight, super comfortable, good battery life and the portable charger/pouch comes in handy
And as far as wind it filters it out pretty good. Noticeably better than the jawbone 2

It sounds good but in my opinion you look like a cyborg with the thing on and gets a little uncomfortable when you where sunglasses.
Plantronics Voyager Pro hands down.
Its comfortable and has active noise cancellation. Everyone that I've talked to absolutely loves their's.
Sound quality on the Jawbones is supposed to be good as well, but I don't see how they could be comfortable.
i've used plantronics backbeat for just over a year. i have a gigantic head, wear glasses/sunglasses, and my ears off uneven (yeah, i know, i'm the picture of beauty!) and the headset fits and is comfortable (sometimes i forget i'm wearing it, thus looking like a douche who walks around with his bluetooth on at all times, trying to look important).
the sound is GREAT. i'm a music snob, and i'm pleased with the sound.
the problem:
it worked great on my old blackberries, but has been pure poo-poo on my epic ever since rooting and installing custom roms. it usually pairs, sometimes connects, mostly disconnects randomly, and most of the controls don't work. and when they do work, they work for every possible app (so i can't just start and stop music. nooooo, pressing play on the headset starts music, radio, video, and podcasts.) i'm HOPING that the official 2.2 will fix this, but if it doesn't, i will be officially reclassifying this headset as utter garbage. it would be a pity too- because i REALLY love it when it works.
Im looking at getting the Jawbone Icon or Blueant T1
If anyone has used both please reply.. Ill probably get one or the other tomorrow...
Thanks in advance..
