Ok, i have an elf. of the phone variety.
No funny hats or curly shoes with bells on.
On the third panel of the HTC today screen,
the app launcher, it will no longer add anything.
I can click on the plus icon, and it will show me
a selecion of programs to add, but after clicking
"select" or "ok" it still wont show the item in
the launcher.
Anyone else had this problem?
More importantly, has anyone got a solution?
(and i have searched the forum. found nothing)
LOL....no really? I thought you actually got one of santa's little helpers
Hmmmm....never heard of that one. Did you make any changes to the phone recently? Install something, flash a new ROM? Have you tried soft resetting the phone? Also try to disable the HTC home plug in and then try to re-enable.
well, i did capture one a couple of years ago, but some rights organisation said it was politically incorrect for me to keep it, so i had to let it go.
anyway.
ive not changed the rom in any way. ive only just got it a couple of days ago.
but ill now try disabling it and enabling it again. see if it helps.
thanks for the idea
ok, nope, turning the htc home off and on again didnt work
and i didnt really keep anything and pretend it was an elf.
my previous comment didnt come out sounding sarcastic enough.
any other ideas?
If you havn't got HTC Home Customizer = get this and install on your device.
Not only can you customize the HTC Home plugin to make it prettier you can also add your app shortcuts through HHC and see if they will add that way.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319308
This is the link to HTC Home customizer XDA - This link aslo has link to official site - it is freeware and worth downloading and installing anyways.
well, thats a prety fantastic program. Ive finally been able to get rid of that weather tab that i never use.
Sadly, whenever I try to add anything to the app launcher through the htc home customizer, it throws an error and closes.
???
:edit:
Fiddle-De-Dee
Just played with it some more and got it working ok.
i was making a silly mistake with the HHC.
Thanks for your helps folks.
sounds like something got really messed up on your device, probably a registtry change or another app is causing conflict.
Did you get this device brand new?
Have you installed anything recently? If so Try uninstalling it and see if it is working properly now?
Have you been playing around with changing registry settings? If so, try changing things back to the way they were originally.
Maybe if you got the device used, someone else had made these changes.
A hard reset will reset the device back to factory settings and may solve your problem. Unfortunately, you will loose everything you have put on your device, apps, contacts, any customization. You may want to look into backing up some of your data before performing the hard reset. Once hard reset is completed, you can add your custom apps again and start customizing again. No big deal really if you have not done much with your device yet. I have had to do it twice on my device - Just time consuming since I had a lot of customizing already done and had to redo it. Now I know to back up my data before doing a hard reset.
edit: I was typing this reply before you edited your post. Glad to hear that you got it working. Enjoy
Need help !!!! HD2 changed wmm password?
I have microsoft my phone enabled and everything, but.... as it is my wi-fi and cell radios are disabled....
Before i went to take a shower, i soft resetted my phone using BsB Tweaks, and when i got back from the shower i tried typing in my password... said it was incorrect, and i flipped. but before that i let someone use my phone for like couple seconds, told him my password to the wmm screen, nothing more.. It was working fine with my old password for about the rest of the day.. after letting my friend use it
And now it just seems like it changed the pass itsself, I know how absurd this may sound, but I'm speaking the truth. I just have customized the phone soo far, that i Really do not want to hard reset.
Can the t-mobile employees help reset the password? or Am i just left with that choice.
EDIT: I think i might just go to the t-mobile store and exchange my phone.. 3G was slow anyways, the speaker sounded broken, and the hardware keys are very loose.
EDIT: I can't even type in my password anymore, when i type in the pass, and click unlock nothing happens/
me too
I happened to me too, i did a hard reset. the last thing I remember is to install a cab for sms without manilla. i rebooted and i was able to enter my pass but the ui was the normal windows ui to enter the password, the i reseted the phone again and the normal manila password came but i couldn't enter the password, after several times entering the unlock button didnt even do anything.
Now if i install something big in the phone.. i disable the password , reboot then enable the password.
T-Mobile HD2
This seems to be a bug in the tmobile stock rom, maybe others? It's happened to me before too using the stock tmobile rom. Theres a thread about this over on forums.t-mobile.com as well
The last thing I installed before it happened to me was the flash fix installer to enable flash in Opera.
Anyone have a FIX for this?
I just got two new texts, and well I CANT READ IT? and it seems like my radio is active now... hmm?
Do any of the experts know what is wrong with HD2 winmo password.
i have the stock ROM that comes with HD2 tmobile USA and i hadnt even installed anything.
I was just checking a few tele no. on the phone and left is went into standby and when i opened it, its stuck on enter password and the pass i set just aint working??
i am screwed, had over 30 small softwares which took me quiet sometime putting in.
CAN I GET MY HD2 TO WORK SOMEHOW, is there a fix???
please help me out, i seriously do not want to do a hard reset.
thank you.
Use a hard reset. Hold you volumn buttom up and down together then press power buttom the same time. It will reset to the original manufacture.
This really sucks, isnt there any way around it, i mean is HTC screwing with us or what??

Its a pretty common bug. No fix, just dont use a password. You can download apps from the Market for protecting your phone with a password. I guess it has something to do with the Microsoft registry, last I read anyway.
If you backed up your phone on your PC then its no biggie. Hard reset, re synce your phone. If you didnt, well... let this be a lesson. I learned the hard way. Always backup your phone.

I already had my contacts backed up, but had over 50 programs installed, and it will be a big pain installing all of them all over again.
As an owner of 20 HD2's (corp. account), I can tell you this has happened to 4 of our phones. It was almost a deal breaker. I can also tell you that TMO/HTC have aknowleged the issue and are working on a fix for it. (This comes from upper ups at TMO)
We HAVE to have Lock PIN's enabled, as we are a law firm and such.
For the record, it has nothing to do with anything you've installed, BsB or otherwise. All of our phones, except mine, are running stock ROMs (2.13) and Radio. No one here has the want or desire for 'frilly' things like CHT or BsB. The 4 phones that have "lost" or "forgotten" the PIN code were all stock.
Our interim solution, is to have everyone use MS MyPhone for backup purposes. Note that this does NOT back up anything on your SD card. Pull the SD card out before you wipe it, and you will not lose anything there. Can't speak for apps installed there, as I'm sure there are needed reg entries on the phone that will need to be recreated. That's a guess tho.
Short answer, if it's forgotten your PIN, you're screwed as far as avoiding a wipe.
yup you are right it has nothing to do with bsb or CHT and YES i am screwed.
I will definitly installing some backup software that can also backup my programs.
I already had my contacts backed up in outlook.
I called HTC and the guys said they know its an issue that some ppl. have and its almost a deal breaker for me coz security code is suppose to help us not f*** us up like that.
Now i am looking for a backup program that can backup all programs aswell apart from my contacts and calander on the phone.
The HTC tech. guy said SPRITE is a good backup solution, i also know of SPB backup, so do you guys have any idea which one is better??
thanks alot

mine seems to be getting quite unreliable too
might just be due for a hard reset and some spring cleaning on the sd card though, these things usually help......

I see you've installed lots of stuff - themes, CHT, CHT widgets, fonts etc...It might be from one of these or ... have you flashed a new ROM recently without first cleaning up your SD card from system files left from previous ROM? Backup your photos, empty your DCIM folder and then copy back only the photos - make sure there's no cache file from previous rom (if that's the case).

**** phone ever! enough said!
Love the hardware, hated the software (Cookie went some way to improve this), but Android solved all my problems
HD2 + android = top
try the moto build (mytouch), works great and it's smoother then the HD builds

Just asking .. but why have you not flashed your phone ?
You can make the phone whatever you want and by adding in some good cabs you can make the hd2 faster and have those guys with Iphones who have allways hated my phone actually say wow .. that phone is cool

They still haven't fixed it!!!??? What a waste of time for them and us!
F*** me, if they haven't done it by now they never will...
This was always the screen from i could remember, there was a fully working site last October 2010. but since then this is the site i always see!!!
i dun think so...
Update
I updated first post with new pictures.
This was one of the things that led me to getting a DHD in Oct 2010 with the UK release - it worked for about a week - then never again and I cant see HTC ever getting the full functionality back.
TBH I'd forgotten all about the site!! I'll have a look in and see though.
ok this is what I get..
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Where has locations, messages etc gone!! It still can't do the basics like locate my phone, even though I have a GPS lock and 3g at full strength?? (Lookout found my phone in under 20 secs and was bang on with the location)
Well done HTC...FAIL!
It did and does work. Yes I did have issues with it but deleting your account on your phone and then setting it back up again sorted it out.
To take full advantage of it though background data and auto sync must be enabled. This is my problem with it as we all know what having them on does to your battery.
Edit: one other thing, update schedule should be set to "as items change (push)"
I had a webchat with HTC support this morning and they say that HTC Sense has been shut down until further notice.

Well as far as I can tell its still "up", but it doesnt bloody work...
Ok guys, look what hapened. Two weeks ago my sense account from phone started to bother me with a password request because somehow it saw that my sense account pass was changed(i didn't do anything). I contacted a operator from HTC on live chat and sayed what was hapened. He told me that they do meintenance to servers and in 3 weeks I will have a completly working sense account on web. Looks that passed 2 weeks and some changes appeared. I have the same issue with communication between web and phone (no comunication), but seems that from just a dashboard menu i have another ones visible. Let's wait another week and see if they keep their promise.

I got my phone yesterday and charged it up etc. I have been giving it a work out trying to get all I could for customizing it as stock.
1 ST ? is how do I get this "air swipe" thing to work? I have all I can find in the settings / air gesture. All the buttons are set to on and it says there is an icon on the status bar with a hand on it, mine don't show the hand and only holding a finger over such as email will it show content. How do I activate and get the air stuff to work?
2nd ? is this, I was out of town and on my way home I stopped at a Best Buy, there happened to be a Samsung rep in the store with a display out, he let me play with his working demo and I asked a lot of questions. He showed me the phone dialer and said on the ATT version it comes out with a white key pad but the dialer could be "customized" to be a pale blue which his was, but he couldn't get the settings to come up to show me how. Does anyone know where this is changed to make the dialer blue with the contact showing a background as blue ? I don't know which version his demo was but I am assuming it was the international version possibly.
3 rd ? Being used to the ATT HTC One X , when arranging apps on the screen it was possible to merge two or more apps into one folder, on this phone I can't seem to put any apps together in one folder, is this not possible on this phone?
4th ? I was talking with the rep and mentioned I like to "tinker" with custom roms as I rooted , unlocked and S-OFF on the HTC One. Further I told him about reading the dev web site and rooting the new GS4 and as of yet no custom recovery. HE said that would void the "carrier" warranty but didn't say anything about manufacture warranty, so is it void also?
I am sure as I get deeper into this phone I am going to have more questions, so any help with this would be appreciated .

I do not see any setting for a pale blue dialr either.
As for the folders; When viewing either your home screen or all of your apps, hit the menu key and choose create folder. After creatung the folder, hit the menu key again and choose edit. When the screen adjusts you can drag icons into the newly created folder.

Thank you, well I had this phone in my hands yesterday and the guy had a shirt on that said he was Samsung inside a Best Buy in Arkansas. He did tell me that the ATT version came out with a white dialer , which mine has but his had a blue dialer. He told me there was a setting to change it to blue or ??? but at the time he couldn't find it. I think I have been all around the phone inside but I can't find anything like that and can't get the air thing to work right. He just waved his hand over the screen and it changed screens. I can hover a finger over the email and read inside without actually opening the email. He said this was another "air" feature but it only worked on the Samsung email app. If using , yahoo or gmail or some other app for email it wouldn't work.

Yes , I am pretty sure they have cell phones in Arkansas, in fact the local Walmart does a big business in supplying most of the county here. I had a conversation with the Samsung Tech dept. come to find out that feature is only available on the International version. Asked why the Samsung rep was demonstrating a International version at a Best Buy in Arkansas, I was given no answer. After being guided thru the booting of the boot loader, and a cache wipe , then a reset and then a factory reset, I think the feature of the air thing is working, not like I assumed it was supposed to but its almost an air feature I think.
If you want to make folders the easy way (dragging apps together), just use Nova or another 3rd party launcher.
