Hi all,
First i m sorry if i iasked silly question . i m using wm5.0 wi-fi enabled imate pdal, yesterday nite i found sum secured wi-fi network in my premises , so tried to connect it but not got.. that was asked sum password. So can ne body tell me how to xcess that secured wi-fi network without ne password .... Waiting 4 ur fastest reply.... Thanks in advance ..
As far as I know, you can't. It's a secure network and without the key you can't log onto it.
I don't know about where you live, but here in the US, we register our Wi-Fi passwords with the local police department, so that when someone would like to use them, they can call the police to get the password. Try calling the police and tell them you are trying to log on to a secure network, tell them your name and your phone number and they will provide you with a password.
Hi badbert
U must b joking bcoz. may b u dont know , how 2 do that . But wait 4 sumtime , i will tell u only how to do it .... TAke care
you can get a software that "sniffs" out the pw's in the wifi..Its called Handisniffer or something like that. When you turn the app on, what it basically does is, collect packets (info sent between the user and the network) and you can analyze these packets. In order to be on the network, the user is constantly sending packets containing the network password in it. You just need to understand the concept and use it.
As far as I know, it isn't freeware and should cost somewhere between 15-30 dollars

i suggest you start with basics before tryin' to "hack" without even having a clue about networks or W-Lan at all.

OHH trust me I do know how to do it.... but to give out info like this on this forum could get you banned... and I like this place!
This is also why I setup routers with mac address access level. Unless you can hack through and obtain a MAC address from the hardware, and then clone it without taking a server offline, (immediate notification and automatic programmed reaction) no password in the world will get you in....

Hi All, well hope some one can help, as have no hair left to pull out. Our company has various free phone ras dial in numbers. I am tring to get my xda to dial into these numbers to allow me to be able to access our servers using terminal services, when problem arise. (all legal here, Its my job)
Is this possible using the xda as the os for the procedure ?
If I use the xda in a cradle connected to a laptop then I can dial in no problem and use terminal services fine on the xda, but there seem little point when I have a connected laptop......!!!!!
What I would like to be able to do is dispose of the laptop and do it all on the xda, has anyone managed or is doing this.
Any ideas would be great, as have ran out of them.
Cheers
Waftycranker
Hey W.C. - Does your company have a public IP address that the Terminal Server is running on? I use the Terminal Services Client through GPRS all the time and it works great. I guess if you have to pay per kb with GPRS then I guess I see why you would want to dial in. I never tried the dial in method. Good luck - Jim
@JimDavis
I can't see what your problem is. (you did't mention)
I use that with my dial-in to my company
* Just setup a Cellular Line Connection (not gprs)
* Enter the Phone Number
* Enter your User/Password maybe Domain
and you are in
Maybe you need to modifiy the Linetype setting analog/digital (i.e. v.110 or v.34)
Does your provider support Data Calls on your Phone-Nr.?
Fidl
Hi Guys, thanks for the help, but still that darn computer system will not let me in. Dials up ok but just keep getting the error message " There was no answer at the number dialed. Varify phone number and try again etc etc etc"
Yet if I use my laptop at the same time, same number all is fine so I now the number and line and username and password and domain are ok.
May need some super glue soon to piece my xda back together again, know any good makes.
Any more ideas ? anybody

Dial-in data call with XDA
Many GSM cullalar carriers who offer GPRS data packages block regular data calls over their network in an effort to push the GPRS stuff.
My carrier in Canada does this which gives me the exact same error you get.
Call your carrier.
Cheers... Peter
Will O2 be getting a call in the morning..... I THINK SO !!!!
Cheers, will let you all know how it goes.

Try checking the Proxy Settings tab under your profile. The "This network connects to the Internet" box should be unchecked. This may be why it only works with your computer.
Update
Contacted O2 and after 5 diffrent numbers and 30 minutes on hold, they are enabeling something their end. This will take 24 hrs, working days only.
Note: Noticed how payment and billing systems work 24/7 365 yet anything that will maybe help you works 9~5 Mon - Fri.... or is it just me.
Will update Monday
God knows why I thought that an service provider would be able to help, they are good at removing money from my account, but little all else.
Acording to them I have everything enables on my account, yet I stiil am unable to dial up using my company ras connection numbers. Still the same error message as before.
Could really do with checking settings etc with anybody who is able to dial up to their corparate network.
My mail is [email protected]
Cheers for any help.

Every time I've seen this it has been because the provider didn't have CSD (Circuit Switched Data) calls enabled. Can you try some other type of dialup modem, such as an ISP, just to be sure it's not your company? I'll bet they didn't really enable CSD.
It may be more than that. I am able to dial up to my company via CSD however my employee collegues using the same RAS service/company etc are unsuccessful.
Recheck the Proxy Settings tab under your profile.
The "This network connects to the Internet" box should be unchecked. This may be why it only works with your computer.
The other solution is to see if your company provides a VPN RAS. Ifso, you can dial up using GPRS.
I had this problem
Was trying to dail in and sync outlook
never got it working, but i cured the no answer thing by editing the the dailing location info. turned out that it was dailing completely the wrong number. simple stuff but worth checking!

T-Mobile US is nice to allow this and charge air time as if it were a voice call - you get nights and weekends for free data. 7Kpbs is not too bad surfing the net with graphics turned off.
hi
I live in the netherlands and everywhere i go there is at least one wifi spot but the problem is that almost all of them are secured so that outsiders cant use it.is there a way to bypass that security?
thanks in advance
theres a reason why it has security on it mate, you shouldnt attempt to access a network which you have no right to access, its illegal in nearly all countries to hack into someone elses network.
but for eductional purposes all i can tell you is that it can be done by capturing iv packets and then sniffing out the network key. it can be a long process unless you use data injection, and it depends on what type of security protocol the network is running, some take around 5minutes to hack and others could take longer depending on whether a brute force attack is required.
Remember do not try and hack into someone elses network, it is illegal
and if anyones thinking how i know this, its because i have run tests on my own network to check the integrity and strengh of my security.
i use wpa with a network key composed of random letters and numbers, which means a brute force dictionary attack would be useless, so i am very safe.
Do not hack, or ask any one how to hack someone elses network on this forum mate, you might get banned.
The title of the area 'Development & Hacking' relates to the semi-legal work on the devices in question, not to totally illegal full-on network hacking/intrusion - you won't get any help here... and i'll probably get flamed for even answering you...
its kinda funny that he posted this under "Development & Hacking", i bet you hes never heard of this site before and must have been searching using the keyword "hacking" and ended up on this site.
any ways, there is a way you can bypass the security, go ask the person who owns the network, if they can let you use their internet lol
I have always wished there was a way to just send a message to the network owner, just so I could ask nicely.
Plus you have people like me who would shae there network, if it was easily separated into a secure / unsecure segment. I've thought of buying a third router in order to do this....But my generosity would be in doing it free and easy, not in spending more money and effort
Reminds me of an XKCD...

bt broadband has something like this, i myself am with Bethere.co.uk
but if u want internet sharing, then check this link

its called BT FON, basically you provide other BT FON users with network access, and in return you are given access to all the other members networks if your in range.

Hi! Lets say I just bought HTC Legend and i think i could use some WiFi, but the problem is that mostly all the connections around have pass protect, so how do i get past this, and is it possible? (For educational purposes only, ofcourse!)
Cmon guys, i know may have given too little information or something, but say something! I am completely new with theese things its just that i need some help!
Nope, I think you are done on here after that one...
You want us to tell you how to crack into your neighbours WiFi??
Go and buy yourself an accesspoint and put it in your own LAN.
I wont go cracking my neighbours WiFi since they dont have one. But i just bought one so i could crack in my own.
Youre the ones (goldwinggl, sda2) saying OH MY GOD, HE's A CRIMINAL, while i can bet that the most people here that know anything about PPC (unlike me) know the answer to my question. And im not asking you to tell me how to break into govements servers and steal uber-secret information. Im just asking you to teach me some basic IT stuff. Like when i go abroad i could use some google-map and e-mail not STEALING ALL THEIR MONEY, AH AH AH AHHAAA!
Google is your friend. I don't think anybody here will teach you anything.

Hello everyone,
I recently bought a new Nexus One and so far everything is perfect but one thing.
Every time I lose 3g connection, mostly when I enter the subway, I will get this error message : "sign-in error to xxxxxxx at gmail.com ". Then I need to register my password again in order to login. It will happen even if i am on wifi. It is getting a little bit annoying to write my password 5 times per day to sync my emails and calendar.
PS: I get the same thing on stock 2.2.1 or cyanogenmod 6
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for your time.

It doesn't get back on, when I go in the Account Settings menu, it says my that "my password is incorrect or my account must have been changed".
It forces me to go in airplane mode while I'm in school because otherwise I need to re-enter my password every 10 minutes (poor reception) even though wifi is on. I mean, if the wifi is on there shouldn't be any problem since there is a data connection. How would the mobile connection affect that?
hmm.. school, wifi... you're credentials could be being hijacked. stop using wifi.

Yes, this is normal; I live in a place with spotty coverage as well, and trust me, on a phone with 4 registered Google accounts, re-entering passwords is a big bother!
The problem is that Android assumes that the connection problem is due to incorrect password rather than connectivity problem (because presumably the connection attempt was made before it realized that the connection is lost), and does not let you re-try with the same passwords even after a good connection is reestablished.
Workaround: simply disable Sync from the "control panel" widget when you're not sure you have good coverage.
Happens to me every time I switch up sim cards too. I had to replace one because it kept loosing data connection.. I jumped up and down when I found out it was not my N1!! Happy day!

I can only speak for ATT on this but the answer is yes. You walk in, tell them you need to replace your sim, and they give you a new one at no cost; this has been my experience for myself and for replacing my better half's sim for her iphone.
It can't hurt to try a new sim...the worst that can happen? Nothing
Hello,
I know this is an old thread, but I found a solution if anyone is interested.
It would appear that I would lose my google account's credentials everytime my phone lost cell signal and tried to look for the "partner" network.
Well it seems I can fix the problem by forcing my phone to stay on "WCDMA only" instead of "WCDMA preferred". Downside is that I wouldn't be able to go on the partner network when I'm outside my main network.
To do that just type *#*#4636#*#* on your phone application and a settings screen will pop up. You can find WCDMA Only in "Phone Options".
I hope it can help someone
I have, and I found a ton of articles that are similar to what I need but in reverse. Allow me to explain, I have a Epic 4G and iTouch now I would normally use WiFi and get my internet with that but here is the problem. At my office we are not allowed to use Wifi as it is a financial institution as it would open the door up for all kinds of security issues which I understand but then we also have sh*tty cell service on this entire floor.
Here is what I am trying to do, let me know if you can help or at the very least point me in the right direction.

Wow this is a really tough problem. Sorry I could not help. You are really restricted a guess your job wants to make sure you are really working and not messing around. I spent a hour trying to find an answer to your solution. If you could use wifi from your phone it would be an easier solution but just wifi damn that is tough.
I think you misunderstood my question, I cannot do that as I would need to install software that would allow outbound traffic (software installed on PC is a No-No) for the most part, but I can use the BlueTooth Dongle which I know allows for ICS...just unsure how to configure it.
So my question is can I use my desktop to setup ICS with Windows 7 to share my internet connection with my Epic 4G / iTouch via a bluetooth dongle....not via USB (which would require drivers) or wifi (which would require a card and drivers + software)...
well im not sure i think you can but why dont you buy a hot spot it safe you all the trouble. and its your own personal spot
He has terrible service at work. That's why.

We do not have Wifi at my office...it woul dbe too easy for someone to be on a lower level floor and hack our it....its a hedge fund company so they are REALLY sensitive over money, my issue is I cannot check any emails while on the move (say in the server room, un the break room, anywhere in the office) and its more complex than that....I know your thinking "Why not just use your computer", I am not supposed to check any email other than my company email on this PC which is why I was looking for a method for connecting without using wireless (as we do not have it here) and I figured bluetooth would have been a good option. Question, are there any Modded Roms that support Ad-Hoc connections??

Sounds like you are trying to by-pass the exact security procedures they have in place to prevent protected data from being accessed inappropriately. If your phone can use bluetooth to connect to your computers internet, then anything on your phone could compromise your computer and internet connection.
I would say, either switch cell phone providers to find one that has coverage in your office, or don't surf the internet or check personal email on your companies time.

You do realize that the data will still go through your computer, right? If you aren't allowed to pull personal data onto that computer, then you can't get the data through said computer onto another device without violating that rule.
Common sense is an ancient legend...

I realize that but it is not just personal email, I freelance my skill set out and there are times when I am requested and do not find out about it until after I get off of work and a few times (more times than not) the issues could have been resolved with me MSTSC'ing into end users machine to resolve the issue...
So, you don't think that the data will be transmitted over the corporate network, through the corporate proxy and firewalls and logged because you are doing the actual browsing via your phone? I think your only option is ask IT for an isolated network drop that you are allowed to use to check your personal email (and do paid consulting for other people using their resources) or give up. If you were in my company and I got wind of your attempts to bypass the IT policy by using BT dongles, or any other method you'd be asked to leave, especially doing work for your "side clients" while you should be doing the work I'm laying you for.

Yeah, your problem is your boss gave you permission because he only understands part of the issue. Those policies are designed to protect the company from internal threats as much as external, but he only has the fairly common knowledge about wifi as one possible route to compromisation.
Regardless, personal matters should only be handled on personal time - he isn't paying you to fix anything outside of the company. What you're attempting to do by freelancing on the clock is called double dipping, and I'd bet that if you laid all your cards on the table, your boss would take issue with that aspect of it. Besides, no company would fully trust employees by gambling on the hope that they won't try to steal confidential information, given the opportunity - they realize there is always a risk of such a theft occurring, but they would never do anything to make it easier, which is exactly what such a connection would do.
You said the entire floor has poor reception - it is not unheard of for companies to insulate their property to block cell reception for security purposes... you may be honest and upstanding, but you could also be trying to circumvent security measures. We have no way of knowing, but this entire plan sounds suspect.

"double dipping" and I would say conflict of interest. This is a shame, why people always try to find a loophole to do what they want instead of what they're supposed to be doing at work.
