Anyone try this out yet? Launched a couple of days ago. Checking it out now says shift is supported. http://www.ubuntu.com/products/mobile
I tried the McCaslin image two months ago, it was a nightly build and not the final release, however I don't think it has changed too much since then.
Tried it, played with it a bit and went back to the Ubuntu Desktop Edition + Ubuntu Netbook Remix again.

replacement?
Anyone thinking about replacing WM with this Ubu MID edition ? Anyone already working on it? I'd be interested ....
This is a replacement for Vista, not for CE. (it's x86 only)
Oh, really? The desktop edition runs pretty well on Shift, doesn't the MID ed. have limitations of capabilities compared to the desktop one? So, can you see any alternative to this crippled Windows Mobile?
Install to XD Card
Is it possible to install to / boot from the XD card?
So is there any alternatives to Windows?
I have moved to Ubuntu for my desktop PC and want to move away from Windows on my XDA mini s
Not upgraded since I bought it so still on Windows Mobile 5

Hi guys n gals.
I need help. Here's where I am so far.
Am trying to add SDHC support to a vanilla WM5 HTC Universal rom.
I can get it running up to 4GB support with the genuine HTC update however, when I update with the patched DLLs that are used to for 4GB+ I lose the storage card completely.
Oddly enough I get the same thing with the VGA patched DLL for the HTC Home Plugin.
And yet both run happily on WM6
Ah you can see the connection here can't you??
I am certain WM5 is checking the digital signature in the .dll, finding it invalid and chucking it out. I can resign the .dlls till the cows come home and its still happening.
SO WHAT DO I DO NOW?
Am thinking down this road:
If both work in WM6 then the Digital Signature checking must be not implemented or at least bypassed / told to ignore it by the os.
Question is: HOW?
Anyone know?
Ta.

I'm not a developer, so I could only use... play with it
I already know about BallVenture, but it's not exactly the same
What do you think about it ??
Yes, I'd go with that!
I woke my old Nokia 6600 up to accomodate my new simyo sim, and first thing I did with it was play Bounce!
Been searching for a long time now, but there isn't such a thing. I prefer the old version, nog the 3D they made for nGage later on.
Unfortunately I'm no programmer either, wanted to learn Java, but never got to it (apart from buying some books)
Anyone?
Greetz, Patric
Have you tried the .jar file in J2ME runner from netmite or jbed?
It could work for someone, but, since my phone is only touch, no keyboard, as lot's of android phones, how can I play with it ?
No D-pad? or ball?
Nope, I'm a "proud" owner of an xPeria X8, & probably in the future of an HD2, but I'm not sure about that.
No problemo, fire up Bounce with netmite's runner and push the menu key and choose D-pad. Now you have an onscreen D-pad!
Do you think the rumours about Windows Phone 8 running on HTC One are true? If so, would you want it?
I read the rumour a couple of days ago a I think it's an awesome idea. Even better would be, if someone
managed to port it and allowed dual booting.
So what is your opinion? Are you die-hard Android fans or would you give Windows a chance?
Because I personally would flash it right away, although I love Android and am not going to abandon this os
in foreseeable future, but having two great OSs on one phone certainly sounds awesome.

As this is not about the HTC One / android this is a different device and is considered off topic. All off topic threads go in the OT section in XDA until such a time that a forum is created for that phone.
Use Your Old Android As A Secondary Monitor
You know that old HP touchpad was a great tablet but it's just been sitting around for years now. You can't bring yourself to throw it away but what on Earth could you use it for?
Hi, my name Steve Shockmonster and I'm here to tell you how you can turn any old Android tablet into a secondary screen for your computer. By installing an app on both your pc and Android device, you can activate an extended display setup. This will allow you to move your open windows to your tablet by dragging it off screen. There are many practical uses for this feature and almost anyone would be able to take advantage of this.
So what app do you need to get this working? Well I've put together a list that will get you all setup.

Is there an app that you use that I haven't listed? Let me know in the comments!
I have a 32GB HP Touchpad that had seen little use for a while, I got an ION iCade cab which connects via Bluetooth to the Touchpad. Although sold as (and originally designed for) iPads they work well with Android .

I flashed the Touchpad with Android 5.1.1 removing the WebOS first. This leaves enough space for the full Mame4droid 0.139 u1 ROMset, the smaller 16GB Touchpad will still host a huge selection of games.
I flashed 5.1.1 because the Bluetooth works well, this is critical for connecting to the iCade, or any Bluetooth controller.
TPToolbox was used to install 5.1.1
Bluez IME was necessary to force the iCade to connect the first time, after that it works every time. This is keeping my 7 year old entertained no end, and was to replace my full sized MAME Cab that had to go as it was (apparently) taking up too much space.
I'm posting this from my phone and will update it from my laptop with more detail.
