Linux on TyTN or TyTN II - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hello, every body.I want to ask something about how to make our wm phones run linux mobile system.I know there are many elites in this forum. They are intelligent.
I kown there are somebody use mobile linux mobile system on smartphone, as one of our member Hikey used linux on HTC S710 before. It looks very cool. Still, some guys also made rom that inclueded windows mobile system and linux mobile system. When the phone starts, there will be a system starting guid to let you choose, just as the PC.It is so cool.
I just want to experience how exciting using double systems on mobile phone will be!Can anyone tell me whether there is a linux mobile system for TyTN or TyTN II?Thank you!

I think android uses Linux... http://code.google.com/android/
There should be a cab of it somewhere, a coworker showed it to me on his Tilt.
I dont know too much about there being a version of linux that runs on the HTC, but it seems that there should be a port of some *nix that will run on this hand held, i doubt that it would have the functionality of WM5/6/6.1 currently has on these devices.

Yeah,of course, android can run on TyTN II,because Google has developed a android system for TyTN II.And the phone named HTC Dream will use the android system. What I'm talking about is not the Gphone system but the liunx mobile system runs on some phones as Motorola's phones. I'm so sorry I didn't make my meaning of the post clear.Haha.

Hi,
please follow this thread:

The wiki:

Don't be disappointed, this is only simple text console linux, but it works.
Someone had to start with some GUI.....
Look at handhelds.org or linuxtogo.org for basic information about running linux on mobiles.
Search the web for openmoko and see what's possible.
Cheers,

iphone dumping

Is there any way to dump an original iphone for tryng a porting to pocketpc hardware?
so no skin or graphical plugin to emulate the iphone on WM5/6 but the real iphone OS patched and installed on a ppc
Is not a news, you can install OSx on a intel/amd PC, maybe is possible to do the same on a pocketpc?
Iphone and ppc have really very different hardware?
could be great a dualboot phone with WM/iphone OS !
No not currently or likely in the future.
There are several attempts to port Linux to our platforms which are all at varying stages of success. As far as I know there isnt a practical linux solution ready yet.
Stick to themes and 3rd party clone apps at present.
Microsoft must be planning a response to the success of the Iphone but when that will see the light of day is anyones guess. It certainly isnt WinMobile 6.1 !!!

As far as I know this wouldn't make sense because for a lot of gestures you need a different hardware. Its not the same system like touchflo etc.

run WM in iphone, Android in PPC???

Is that possible to run WM in an iPhone.
Or run Android in a PPC?
I mean directly flash the ROM into iPhone or PPC.
Not like "running android on Kaiser"
Could anyone do this kind of "transplan"?
We should have a sub forum discuss about it, that make WM, and PPC more fun with it.
People are trying to make andriod to work in emulators on top of windows mobile first because they want it to be stable.
When everything is working stable, developers could look into flashing a andriod rom with andriod bootloader onto a device.
For now it is more important to get everything to work properly.
and about the iPhone.. we still dont know wether its fake or not.. its just a rurmor.. the developer promised it to be released by jan.. till then wait for jan..
i think WM on iphone is fake.............
there are very rare chances of that happenning.......
WM on iphone
there is WM on iphone, Norwegian developer did it,
http://5x5m.com/lp/277/windowsmobile.html
is it going to be freeware???????
i would seriously think about getting an i phone then........
Why would somebody want to have WM on a device which can't be used with stylus?
At the start, I knew that there was something fishy about it. Look at the phone, the bootloader is too "friendly" to be a beta.

"Okay, looks like we (I, the bloggers, the Internet, the Windows Mobile users) were "too excited" (?) by running Windows Mobile on iPhone hardware. As it turned out (thanks for the comments and E-Mails), the video and the whole story above is a hoax and part of a viral marketing campaign from Sonic Emotion, a maker of surround-sound systems for PCs, handhelds and other things that need surround sound." - Source
There is already Android on PPC. I have it installed on my phone.

yes, but it doesnt work very well
I think everybody should now, that there is a "working" androit for windows mobile based devices...
I'm definitely going to try it once its bootable as a seperate OS.
I'm sure the peeps at XDA are going to be successful in porting it on to ppc aswell, so I'm just patiently waiting.

There is already android on msm 7200 Chipsets like the Kaiser or Vouge
And it's not an Emulator and run on the ROM.
But you must load the Bootloader "HaRET" on Windows, and after that, Windows mobile is quitted
also, windows mobile is working on iphone wich lags realy
Say WM is flashed onto iPhone somehow. But as Parg said it can't be controlled by stylus. And there is no Dpad, then some application can not be used with that hardware.
Indeed, it makes much more sense to get a Diamond instead of trying to flash WM on iPhone.
Additional to the hardware troubles (stylus, unsupported multitouch, ...), there would be license troubles. Guess you don't want to pay MS for WM on iPhone, even if that was possible, right?
Android, or at least a compatible system, should be possible for every device (at least in theory). However, if I buyed a device including a WM license, I'd prefer a good emulator (or rather VM, similar to the J2ME VMs which allow to use Opera Mini). That way, both WM and Android programs would run fine. OK, bad chance to modifiy the main system interface (start menu + Today screen), but I like the plugin concept of the Today screen anyway...

iphone? whats that? wasnt it a fad fashion accessory from last year that claimed to be a tech revolution in, well, in, I dont know? lets see, its not a smart phone, not a PPC, not a Symbian, its more a feature phone containing a proprietary operating system with very limited 3rd party support apps and interface.
Why would such a great device want WM running on it? oh yeah I know, it sux and its boring UI would eventually drive you nuts for lack of customization and limitation of available "decent" apps! hahahahhahhahha It'll never run M2D or some of the other awesome skinnable applications or any Linux OS etc, Its just WacOSX and doesnt even provide onboard bluetooth with A2DP holly crap even my 5 year old piece of junk Symbian supports A2DP, in a few months WM devices will be released with Bluetooth v2.1 (700kbps) and soon version 3 speeds up to 480Mbps. carried away sorry

Dpad is not essential for PPC,
usually, apps can direct operate by touching the screen.
the only problem is games, a lot of games have to use dpad as controller.

iphone hardware is not a big problem,
as long as iphone is one device, no matter how many people are study on it, it is one device.
Android on PPC is a problem, there are so many different PPC, which one should we study on?
License is not necessary, Hacking, of course, is not legally with license.

Android Port Anyone?

I am no linux expert but it seems that could possibly run on most HTC devices with some kernal patching??
I think the new OS looks better than Windows Mobile and is certainly better than touchflo 3d.
I am calling on the information of all the cooks, developers and hackers on this forum to answer this, do you think it would be possible to create a ROM that boots out HTC devices into this new Android OS and therefor rid us of microsofts limited WM6/6.1 OS ??
I am all for trying if you are!
Me too. I had expected to see more questions about android. I'm setting up a linux box to see what we can do with the source! Hope to see some progress here!
I think you should follow this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=396782&page=124
The people out there are working on a working Android on the Kaiser. When finished, the Android system can easily ported to some other HTC devices (I think).
I think that Google Android is working better than Windows Mobile with TouchFlo (2d & 3d), so I hope that they finish the job soon

Convert XP program to Winmo 6.1 Omnia

Can someone convert/build a program that I run on XP to be used on my omnia? I would supply the original program and xp drivers etc. (It is a VHF radio programming software that I wish to run from Omnia rather than PC)

Its not really possible to convert Computer programs to a Phone program. you would have to start from scratch and make a whole new program
Thanks for the joke...
The devs here are pretty good, but seriously?.... that is just not a well developed question.

Whats wrong, its a perfectly valid question. especially seeing how MS chooses to label its desktop and mobile OSs under the same product name. Just because the answer may seem obvious to some, not everyone is a programmer and not everyone can be expected to know the answer to such questions.

WeeWheel 1.16 [07-10-2009]

Hello all,
WeeWheel 1.16 is an application that uses the Acceleration Sensor (Accerlerometer) of your phone to simulate a joystick, keyboard and/or mouse on your PC!
Info: http://www.weewheel.com
Comments are greatly welcome.
I now only support Nokia 3rd and 5th edition devices with Python. I would like to ask the Windows Mobile Guru here to if you want to write a simple programm for Windows Mobile (in python or not) so WeeWheel can also support Windows Mobile devices.
If you have any knowledge of programming for (Windows) mobile devices i would appreciate if you write a small programm for any device you know to program of. You can post it here: http://www.weewheel.com/forum/index.php/board,16.0.html
Guidlines can be found here http://www.weewheel.com/forum/index.php/topic,41.0.html
Thanks!
Thank you for your contribution. However, XDA-Developers is a Windows Mobile site, and does not deal with the Symbian OS.
-Edit-
After a discussion with the OP, I am reopening the thread since he is looking for interested parties to assist with posting this app to Windows Mobile.
bump & start post updated
hope you find some takers for this.. It looks likea great idea...
there's an open SDK for those kinds..
you can use any object as your wheel and gear
yes i know but i have no windows mobile device
