I'm not sure how to search for my problem. I really dont even know what my problem would be called. Anyway, before I upgraded to the latest HTC ROM (that one that came out yesterday, officially) i could start the phone app, scroll my wheel up and that would show me my recent calls. if I scrolled the wheel down, i would get a list of speed dials. Now, i dont geth anything with the wheel. Any ideas what has happened? I have installed SPB mobile phone suite if that helps. That and the VC 1.6.
Thanks for any help,
Jason

There is a fix for this you will have to search for it but the cab file name is HTC_Smartdialer2.5.CAB
I no longer have it but if you google it you sould find it and the other cab that needs to be loaded for it to work.
Try these links
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298481&highlight=HTC_Smartdialer2.5.CAB
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=300535&highlight=HTC_Smartdialer2.5.CAB
Thank you for the link. I tried the above mentioned cab. I didn't realize that the missing function was actually called "Smart Dialer".... this didn't fix it either. I ended up HARD resetting. I didn't install anything at all and the smart dialer was working. I was wrong to blame the new ROM. I'm not sure if SPB mobile phone suite did it or the VC. I am going to install stuff back one by one checking the dialer after each install. Hopefully, it wont mess up again. or, at least if it does, i should be able to isolate it and fix it.
Thanks again,
Jason
found my problem... the PTTfix broke the smart dialer on the new ROM that was released on HTC's site yesterday. Hopefully the bug will be squashed shortly.

I COULD NOT WORK OUT HOW TO BRING MY POST DETAILING THE RESOLVED POSITION TO THE TOP, THIS IS ON PAGE ONE POST NO 4
Touch Cruise / Polaris Hardware Buttons not working after 6.1 rom update
Having performed the above update the send, end, camera etc buttons and the scroll wheel have stopped working.
I have done an install of the official HTC WM 6.1 rom, this went fine, after installing the hard keys worked. However I then sync with both of my PCs after some messing around this went well also. I then started to install some of my apps.
I cant recall which one, but one of them has now stopped the hard keys from working.
I then did a soft reset, this did not help, then a hard reset which did restore the operation of the keys. Just to be sure that all was well I then reinstalled the same rom and exactly the same thing happened as above
Thus I think that one of the apps that I am installing is corrupting the hard keys within the software.
I am considering uninstalling the apps one by one with a soft rest after each one to see if I can get the keys working again and thus identify the problem app.
Can anyone offer any help or ideas?
Is there a way that I can remap the hard keys to override any conflicts? Or a registry edit for this, or a registry search for conflicts? I have tried adjusting these in start, settings, buttons but they still don’t work no matter what application I assign to them.
I know that it is not a hardware fault as when the hard reset is performed they work fine, also when I press the buttons the backlight comes on so they are working just not performing the assigned task
Thanks in advance for any help, I really don’t want to perform another hard rest !
as you said, one of the app that you are installing after is causing a problem:
maybe it's not compatible with wm 6.1
It wolud be a good ideea to modify your thread to hardware buttons not working after install "xxx" app on wm 6.1
Many thanks for your reply, i have adjusted the thread title, i am not sure what App is causing the issue at present. I cant identify it at present as each time i am having to do a hard rest, it is taking me hours!
Managed to get this working, i uninstalled each of my apps one by one with a soft rest between until i found the one which then allowed the keys to work.
In my case it was my windows mobile remote desktop that was causing the issue
Thanks
You should really put your solution up top and change your thread title. To most it would seem like they risk losing hardware button function if they upgrade to the oem WM 6.1. This clearly isn't the case...
Good point will do so now

I don't know if this is due to davideucks's ROM, because I was using stock ROM and after a while I also have this problem. The problem was not there when the ROM was first flashed, but after some applications were installed it is there. The first press brings up the volume, and I expect the second press to change the volume, but instead it seems to send a up arrow key signal.
I thought it was AEBPlus, but I did a fresh installed of stock ROM, at which time the volume was functioning perfectly. Then without even AEBplus, the problem came back after some applications were installed.
Have not identified which application is responsible yet.

Maybe it would be helpful to post this in david's rom thread? You may get a fix from him that way.
it would be better if you guys could ask this in the correct thread, and not starting new threads about issues.
If everyone started new threads about their issues/bug reports, then this forum would become the famous needle in a mount everest sized haystack (some ppl consider it to be allready..)
cheers
Why not simply change the title of the thread to describe the problem. I think it is a problem for other ROM too, so it may not be appropriate to post it in the Davideuck ROM thread.
To confirm, why not do a hard reset, and test the volume rocker to see if it works before any other software is installed?
Edit: I just flashed Davideuck 4.5 and found no problem with the volume control prior to any other software being installed into it. I'm insterested in this issue because I need to resolve this problem too on the stock ROM.
There is no problem with Davideuck's 4.5 ROM. I have used it for a while with NO problem at all. Its really fast and Stable. I have been waiting for his V5 for a while now and just flashed another ROM.
May be you have installed AE button app and that might be causing the issue you have described.
I second the statement that you should change the thread title to something more specific to your issue or list your issue within the original ROM thread.

I would have to rule that out, as I did not install AE button yet when the behaviour changed.
Another example of newbs never reading or posting in correct threads
Encouragement from "Senior" members does not help either, this will merely encourage more newbs to post willy nilly creating more chaos and more confusion.

Could it be your own 3rd party app? Anyway, this is not an appropriate way to label a thread, if you really thought it is specific to Davideuck's rom then it should be in that thread. At first glance a new thread with a title like that makes it seem that perhaps the rom is erasing the contact database or making calls on its own, not something so trivial as was posted.
Now, let's let this thread die by not posting anymore because it is highly misleading and we all know that Davideuck is a super cook with one of the best roms on offer for the HD.
I have no doubt that this problem has nothing to do with Davideuck's ROM. I think the moderator should change the title to somthing like "Volume rocker problem" and put it under the Blackstone subforum.
Anyone else having this problem?
Mystery solved
The offending software is Resco Contact Manager Beta.
Once you install this software, your first press could bring up the volume adjustment screen, but subsequent press will not be able to increase or decrease the volume.
To solve the volume button problem, do NOT assign anything to the SEND button in resco.
Confirm once again that it is not the fault of any ROM, cooked or uncooked.
Dunno what happened, I've updated with the latest 2 ROM updates (office enhancements and notifications enhancements) for my phone, but I seem to have lost the numbers from my full QWERTY keyboard.
I can get numbers by pressing and holding the letter keys, but by pressing ".,123" I only get 8 keyboards to choose from, and none have any numbers.
In the main this isn't a prob, except if you're in contacts when you can only enter a number, but the keyboard won't let you.
I've used HD tweak in the past, but not for T9 input.
I've since uninstalled the 2 ROM updates and the keyboard hasn't changed.
The forums have loads of cases of being stuck in number mode, but none where the keyboard won't allow numbers.
Anyone got any ideas?
Cheers!
Just found a similar experience with the ROM updates.

Guess we'll have to wait to one of you clever people to work this one out.
Thanks!
Strangely, I have the same symptom after the above mentioned hotfixes. Unfortunately, uninstalling the hotfix doesn't help and having a hard reset is not an option that I'm looking at right now. I've already escalated this to the HTC support and waiting for them to release a fix. In the meanwhile, I'll either use the compact QWERTY or use the Full QWERTY without the numbers tab
Hi there,
Same here, after install the latest fixes from the website I only have 8 keyboard pages while using FULL QWERTY. The numbers page has dissappeared.
Uninstalling the 2 fixes did NOT recover this problem.
I also want to avoid a HARD RESET.
Any clever ideas.

Hi There,
I have since logged a fault with HTC and they have investigated and just called me back.
The advice is that I will have to reflash (sigh!) the device with a new ROM which will apparently be available from their support site later today/tonight(?).
In fact, the site had been taken down as I am typing this.
Let's see what happens.
Regards
M
I called HTC Support again and I was told that they're aware of this issue and working on another HotFix which might take 2 weeks or 2 months..Damn..
In the meantime, try using Fingerkeyboard 2.1 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=501122
IMO, much better than HTC's effort.
I personally don't bother with most of HTC hotfixes as they can cause issues, especially if your using cooked roms. Remember, before you install any hotfix always do a backup first!!!
Only solution I can think of is a hard reset as I'm not aware of any reg fixes etc. Do a backup of contacts/emails etc beforehand

Problem sorted (somehow)
After installing the same Hotfix, the numbers also disapeared from my full Querty keyboard. HTC told me to do a hard reset (not a chance!).
Been serching forums and sites for days and have "accidently" fixed the problem. Not sure what part fixed it but I'll go through what I did and maybe it will work for you too. I must mention that I'm not that tech advanced at all.
I downloaded and installed fingerkeyb-20-wvga.cab (size 582kb). Checked that it was working fine. Checked full Querty, no luck.
Then downloaded and installed HTC_Keyboard__Keypad_MULTILANGUAGE.CAB (size 1912kb) after searching for an Ezinput keyboard for HTC Touch file ezinput.dll.0409. I found this file after going through the system files on the unit and finding two folders (ezinput and ezinput.dll.0409). It didn't display well so I uninstalled it. Checked full Querty and bingo, numbers back!!
I found both CAB files in the XDA forums.
Hope this helps.

As far as I am concerned, I now have FingerKeyb 2.1 and that'll do me nicely.

Great Hotfixes...
I´ve just contacted the support and waiting for reply.
I´ll keep you informed.
Have the same problem and uninstalling the hot fixes doesn't bring back the numbers 'tab' either. Does anyone know which actual 'Hot-Fix' created this problem - the Office Mobile Enhancement (BLAS00369) update or the Notifications Enhancement update (BLAS00349)?
At least can still access the numbers by holding and pressing the relevant buttons with the letters on, but not ideal.
Looks like will have to await a fix
HTC answered that I have an O2 rom and they are not resposible if those Hotfixes will not work with the original O2 rom.
They recommend a hard reset.
On the other hand they will help customers with the same problem with the original HTC rom...

hi cms777, could you provide the link to HTC_Keyboard__Keypad_MULTILANGUAGE.CAB..i tried searching, but in vain..
I installed HTC_Keyboard___Keypad_MULTILANGUAGE.CAB and then promptly uninstalled it (since it wasn't displaying correctly) and that solved my problem. The numbers are back.
I found it at http://www.filestube.com/4264194f235e4e9103ea,g/HTC-Keyboard-Keypad-MULTILANGUAGE-CAB.html

Hi all, I have recently changed my HTC HD for an HTC HD2, but nearly immediately, still without adding any thirdy party program I am nearly systematically facing with the following problem
I am failing opening the received emails (using Microsoft Excange Server Setting) using HTC Sense (i.e. I mean by clicking on the e-mail).
The only way to read emails is then go to the email tab then select ALL from the left bottom corner and then press one of the email in the proposed list to read/open it. This is my actual configuration:
OS = 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82), Manila = 2.5.192116190, ROM = 1.48.408.1 (71294) ITA, ROM Date = 11/16/09,Radio = 2.05.51.05_2, Protocol = 15.28.50.07U.
Can someone help me ?
Many thanks in advance for your kind support ))
Cheers,
Max
I am experiencing the -exact- same problem.
Going to the email tab and tapping on the envelope on the screen does nothing. I can see that it registers the tap, since the envelope 'bounces'. The email doesn't open up like it normally would though.
I have no clue why this keeps hitting me :S I have tried hard resetting 4 times, and it keeps happening.
Someone please provide some insight in to what is breaking in Sense when it comes to the 'open email' functionality.
OS: 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
Manila: 2.5.19211619.0
ROM: 1.48.403.1 (71294) DAN
ROM Date: 11/20/09
Radio: 2.05.51.05_2
Protocol: 15.28.50.07U.
Tap Start, then Lock. Unlock your device and hopefully bug is gone (till it next appears and you redo the steps).
This very bug has appeared with 1.48 ROMs...
Together with another bug: The lockscreen did not work unless you would force the device to lock using the soft button from the start menu.
Once done, the lockscreen bug plus the mail not opening bug magically disappeared, but I have not seen any thread so far with a clear explanation for the exact reason...
It fixed

Wow, it worked. Can't believe it was that simple. I guess this will be fixed by HTC in the next ROM update. Seems to be related to the autolock when you put the device in standby, which explains the randomness to some extent...
Thanks tnyynt!
Hi guy, let me try then I was becoming crazy as I did several hard resets attempting to identify which (installed) programs may generate this issue, so installing one by one, resetting etc. but without effect. Suddenly the problem re-appears ... I will re-install everything and let you known accordingly. Anyway just for your info I have opened an official ticket on HTC website about this topic: they suggested me to reset, install latest hotfixes and the new ROM, that today seems to be disappeared from the site, but obviously they did not solve my issue yet :-(

Hi guys, I have terminated the re-installation of all my preferred software but this time, following tnyynt indications, before all I have installed the following CAB I found here: "Touch X autolock disable". As result, during the installation of each program and in the end once terminated the restoring of all my preferred applications it seems the problem does not occur anymore so apparently without the need to do the trick suggested by tnyynt. I would you suggest to try ... just in case it works for you too Thanks again tnyynt

But you've obviously read the whole thread and therefore know how to fix the issue?
Just come across this issue a few days back, but with a twist -
Firstly the lock/unlock fix detailed on the previous page does not work for me, nor a soft reset. I am loathe to hard reset, since I am suffering none of the other issues many people are (sms etc).
As described on the previous page; on the email tab of HTC Sense the email does register the request to open, as it "bounces" when tapped, but will not open in poutlook.
I noticed it, but wrote it off as one of the many quirks of these phones, expecting all to be well in a few hours. But after almost a week I noticed I was not receiving mail at all. Wanting to check the settings, I opened Pocket Outlook via the start menu, and found that all of my mail accounts had disappeared! Leaving the default outlook demo account only. But I can still view and scroll through (but not open) existing mail via Sense.
I know I am going to have to HR, but I am curious to know if anyone else has suffered the issue, and if a trigger/solution has been found.

Thanks, never seen this program before. It worked, to a degree. It restored my folders to Poutlook, but the restored accounts have lost the connection settings (pop, smtp). I think that was user error though
Thanks for taking the time to upload
I should have said, that this prog is mainly for making lost accounts visible again in order to delete them afterwards with the same prog (like in the case when they where visible in manila but not in outlook). Never tried to use a repaired account again (always deleted them and created a new one). But if you say, you only needed to reenter the connection-settings... nice to know that this works
