Setting for new version of Opera - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

I just installed Opera Mobile 9.5 and I am trying to get the zoom to work better. I was playing around with the opera:config and can't seem to get it right. Anyone know where I can find a recommended setup with the "adaptive zoom" for a QVGA device?
Also is there anyway to make it scroll faster after a "flick"?
I did search I and could not find anything...
thanks for any input!!

I use it on Athena. A big screen in VGA format, so my settings are different, but they are: 800, 145, 95, 125, 860. This lets me click shortlinh on page without first zooming the page. And I can read text without zooming (hardly, but I can). Zoomnig the page gives me exactly tthe size of text as it should be without oversizing.

hi
im also looking for the setting, to make the "flick" more sensitive

If you need to confirm version/build, go into registry after install.
EDIT:
Here is a new CAB/installer which will allow you to uninstall. This zip contains two versions, one for VGA and one for qVGA! Have fun!

Nice, downloading it and will test it tomorrow
2 things I want to know:
1. Can it be uninstalled?
2. Unlike 9.33, is it QVGA able?

Yes it has been modified and is uninstallable now. Yes we packaged a qVGA version just for YOU! ;p
Nice. Thanks for the find!
Just from using it for a few minutes: I like the scrolling in netfront better. I like the little scroll bar in opera better then netfronts transparent thing. Youtube videos as expected do not work. No idea if it is faster then netfront. On my 3G connection at mobilespeedtest I get 367 kpbs while pie gets 762 kpbs. In my few minutes of using it is better then the last opera 9 but I still perfer netfront.

Having checked the ability to correctly display web pages yet? What about the internet banking sites? Have they fixed the soft keyboard input bugs?
Okay, I've done some testing. Looks like all the bugs are still there. Problems with many software keyboards. Incorrect rendering of many webpages. No performance improvement felt.
So, looks like still having no choice but to stick with Netfront 3.5 still for the time being.
maybe now people can stop complaining we are inactive and arent sharing any info etc...
Updated...
First post edited with new installers. One for VGA & one for qVGA. Both are now uninstallable and qVGA is packaged with corresponding skin.
Thanks to ***** for repackaging...wow for some reason I can't type that person's name. Oh well.
Hmm I wonder who that could have been...

Try typing "about:config" in the address field (without the quotes)
and you can customize maaaaaaaaaaaaany settings including screen
size with Adaptive Zoom Settings. So you optimze it for QVGA Portrait
or Landscape screen. You can also change Cache Location and much more!!

Hey! How about me releasing it! ;-p
LOL
Thank you, nice release!
Could a mod please move this thread an other forum? This Opera build is not only for the Athena.
edit:
There is a bug in the QVGA version (no idea about VGA): The scrollbars or the button in the fullscreen mode have white corners around them. This cuts off the content of the displayed page

I started a thread pointing to this one in the appropraite area already. It started as an Athena only release but turned into more than that after a few modifications.
You might check the settings and see about the bug you reported. I haven't tested this version yet on my Kaiser so can't comment.

Can you give us a URL that examples your problem (and maybe a screenshot in Opera where you've scrolled right to the bottom)? I've never seen this before.
screenshot 1 viewing by PC, can see whole screen to the bottom
screenshot 2 viewing by hd2, but can't show the lower part
screenshot 3 viewing by hd2, enlarged but can't scroll down to show bottom

on the other hand, what is the semi transparent icon at the top right hand corner use for??
Okay - your problem looks like an old problem that web developers face. It looks to me like a simple case of cross-browser compatability issues with CSS. You know how some web sites work in IE, but not in FireFox, and vice-versa. Well this looks like the same thing.
Does it look the same when you look at that site in IE on your phone?

I understand your frustration, but if I'm correct then it can't be helped. Not with the version of Opera that you currently use anyway. Maybe it will be different in version 10, but that, of course, doesn't support pinch-to-zoom, which is the main reason I have not migrated to that version.
I may be completely wrong about this, but I've done quite a bit of web development and this really does look like a browser compatability issue to me, especially since it renders fine in IE and SkyFire.
Sorry to not have good news. Maybe Opera 10 will be better for you, if you can live without pinch-to-zoom, but maybe that will still be the same.
Sorry mate

How to get the real ENGADGET on Opera 10 (solution)

Hi guys I was very frustrated every time I want to read Engadget on the new opera mobile 10 without using Turbo mode. I spend lot of time looking for a solution trying to spoof agent and others but no way to get the real version...instead everytime I get a text only version for wap devices.
Finally I found the solution:
In opera10 goto to the web page "OPERA:CONFIG"
goto NETWORK and scroll down for "HTTP Accept"
there put this text:
text/html, application/xml;q=0.9, application/xhtml+xml, image/png, image/jpeg, image/gif, image/x-xbitmap, */*;q=0.1, application/youtube-client, application/x-obml2d, multipart/mixed
PS:This solution can be a workarround to others sites with the same problem too.
I hope this will be usefull to someone
it's a pain in the ass typing it all, but it's worth it thanx for the tip. now if there would be a fix for the text flow/break
My biggest issue is the crap zoom (needs at least a zoombar if pinch to zoom isn't an option) and camera not working with Opera running in the background.
Also, for engadget (I'm on there all the time), you can just scroll down and hit view desktop/full version. Also, you can add something like ?m=false (it's not that exactly, and I can't check it at the moment) and it will change the default mobile version to the full version.
However if your tweak works for all sites, then hats of to you! And I need to get on that later tonight.
You dont need to type it!
connect your HD2 to activesync, and go to the folder where you installed opera 10, got to the folder profile and then edit the file "Opera.ini" (in my case it is \Storage Card\program files\Opera Mobile 10\profile\opera.ini)
There, under [Network] add the text like this:
[Network]
HTTP Accept=text/html, application/xml;q=0.9, application/xhtml+xml, image/png, image/jpeg, image/gif, image/x-bitmap, */*;q=0.1, application/youtube-client, multipart/mixed
Save the file to the HD2 and that is
(I first do this the hard way...typing all in the HD2 grrr)

That's true but only for the first page cause a bug on engadget dont remember the option and when you go to the "older post" its all text again.

Can you gimme a page with the text flow/break problem? I will try to find a solution to that too. (still none of the pages I usually go show this bug)
Thanks Shagratt.
BTW, to everyone worried about entering all that text, most of it is already there as the default, all you have to do is add the last part listed below to the end and save.

Not exactly, I think the most important one is removing the wap part (engadget must use this to detect mobile devices), but in my opera mobile 10 there was only a empty space, so I have to write all.

A little pinch gesture for a zooming in a LOT?

Basically, I want to do a smaller pinch-to-zoom gesture in order to zoom in a lot! I don't want to stretch my fingers across the entire 4.3 screen just to zoom in only 40% of the way. I want to get up to 100% using a smaller gesture.
Is there something that I do not know in the registry or an app that can allow this to work?
Can anyone provide me their experience with a smaller gesture, but more zoomed in?
Rebump again.
again.........
Seems like no one seems to know or already know the answer. Maybe that's why no one is answering?
Rebump. Getting Hidden...
Wow. Anyone?
Would like to know this myself, not sure why there are no replies, maybe it is not possible?

Maybe you need to specify what version of Opera you are using. I know that the normal reg edits don't work for Opera 10.
im using opera 9.7

maybe its just not possible

Opera 9.7

I'm not sure if this has been already. covered... but i don't know exactly what to call it... but when i browse using opera.. and use eitherpinch to zoom or the double tap... the page on the screen starts shaking and moving.... like it jumps from one part of the page to another... has there been any fixes or tweaks to at least reduce it? and also do you guys even know what I'm talking about... thanks
hmm... can someone at least tell me the proper name for what i am experiencing so that i can research it myself?
let me answer your question. this problem is caused by text reflow. Period. thats it. that is the answer. you try to zoom on something, you get there, but then the screen jumps all the way to the left for some reason/ yeah. that is reflow at work. and it sucks.
i tried to find a way to disable it for many many days. re-bumping my thread again and again.
there is a way to disable reflow, but it comes at the cost of ugly webpages. usually text are aligned in a way that is not natural.
Search my threads. I am still trying to find a way, but I hoped i answered your question.
let me know if you find something better. =)
You need to download the newest build of Opera 9.7 from this forum. I have build 3600, and it is very smooth. Pinch-to-zoom works properly, text reflow doesnt cause the web page to jump all over the place either.
The update is just an exe file that you overwrite in the Windows directory.
try this. Worked wonders for me
I'm using the 3600 build as well, it's still not perfect in regards to the jumping but it is massively improved.

I have this installed as well. Its is a conbination of registry hacks to improve the smoothness of Opera. But the main tweak is to change the virtual screen size to 1024 pixels wide. Although you would need to change it to 1020 pixels to ensure that double-tap continues to work in portrait view.
The cab previously posted comes from this thread and page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=627441&page=6
Here is another link for Opera Smooth tweaks, which I also installed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=626157
Maybe a combination of the above and build 3600 will change your opinion...
