I'm not going to lie, I don't feel like googling this, so hopefully someone has seen this before.
Regardless of the notifications present, the default group icon is the one for voicemail. Even if I don't have a voicemail, that is the icon shown. So, for example, if I have multiple notifications, they are grouped under a voicemail notification, versus the most recent, or first.
Anybody else notice this, or know of any apps that cause this?
List of apps I use that have taskbar notifications:
FlexMail
PI8
RSS Hub
Thanks!

I have to wade through so many notification messages every time I switch on my phone, its so annoying and there's no apparant way to stop them. Right infront of me, we have email notifications, sms notifications, alarm notifications, calendar notifications, and a battery warning notification! arrggh!! I can't access the calendar hardware button without clearing all these notifications first.
So, into 'sound and notification' settings and disable them right?
Wrong. It doesn't seem to make any difference. I've gone through each event such as 'Messaging: New email message', and 'Messaging: New text message', etc, and taken the tick out of 'display message on screen' but still I can't access the hardware button on the today screen without clearing the notifications first.
The search criteria required for answers to this problem online is too vague, you just hit on other subjects regarding notifications that are nothing to do with this. Can anyone offer some suggestions?
Thanks.

Which ROM are you running?
RE: annoying notifications
I couldnt agree more!
This happens with every ROM i have used including 2003, wm5 and now wm6 black 3.5.
The one I really want to get rid of is the battery low notifications.
Jees, it drives me mad.
Surely just altering a reg key?? I did a search in there but wasnt sure exactly where to look!
Hi, I'm having the same issue. I want to get rid of the missed call notification messages that pop up all the time. The missed call icon is enough, I don't need the message as well! It's very frustrating.
it's the notification queue
..and it's a known issue. hard reset will definitely cure it, or you could use scarybear's "check notifications" or similar to clear it.
I really hate the low battery warning icon nagging me when 40% of battery is still left!! help !
As I am new to Android I maybe missing something.
Does the OS notify you have how many voice mails you have. EG: If your blackberry was turned off for a while and some left you 4 messages. You will see the total number of voice mails on your phone.
Does android do that? Or does it need an app for that function.
an icon at the notfication bar will appear if you have new voicemail, but to actually see the number of voicemails, you have to pull down the notification bar.

OK..Well I must be doing something wrong or my phone is not setup right.
I just left two messages for myself..the phone gave off the two alerts and the icon showed up but no number indicating 2 messages...
I take you also have a nexus one?

there will only be one icon for each type of notification you have. to see how many messages you have you must slide down the notification bar (the white bar), it will show you a list of the type of notifications you have and how many you have.
yes I do have a nexus one.

Hi Melterx..I understand the notification bar....it shows the number of applications etc that you have downloaded....but I do not get two voice mail notifications from the two messages I left for my self...
Any ideas on what I may be missing?
I think you're simply missing familiarity with Android. Your phone is fine. Like Melter said... slide down then notification bar and you'll see details on each notification you have.
Can I just say I can heartily recommend HulloMail as an alternative voicemail system. It's free and in the market place. It will sync with you google contacts, sms and/or email you and essentially behave like visual voicemail.
Not affiliated, just a happy user.

Hey guys & gals,
I am having an issue with most of my incoming SMS text messages not showing up in the Samsung Messaging App (or Handcent) Thread or Folders Views. They appear in the Notifications Bar just fine, but when I tap the Notification Bar and then tap on the Notification itself, it takes me to the Messaging App where I don't see the message at all. I see everything I sent out, but not what comes in (the majority of the time). Some incoming messages do show up in the threads, but most of them don't.
Anyone else having this issue? Any insight? Thanks!
Anyone???
No one has any input, ideas, suggestions, agreements or disagreements? Please!
yea i have had this happen on every device i have owned g1, nexus,hd2(with android) and vibrant. seems to happen every once in a while when it does i just delete the whole thread and they appear again. not sure why this occurs though
I have the T-Mobile G2 and I'm getting a "You have new unread items" 1.5 Generic Text icon when I get a text message. It'll also show the 2.2 icon when receiving a text. It's odd - I'm not sure what I set that made it do this. But I can't find any option for it anywhere. Also, it plays the default notification sound - not the one that I set for SMS.
Anyone know what the deal is on this? I'm seeing these "similar threads" and I saw one for WinMo, I'm going to look to see if they have a similar option for "Show unread texts" in Android.
No one has this issue? I've removed all my third party apps - same thing.
Sound like you have two messaging apps maybe disable notifications in one of the apps
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App

Do you have stock launcher?
i would do the full reset, if it does not help, exchange the phone.
When I get app notifications for things like text messages or emails, entering the app directly and opening the corresponding message does not dismiss the notifications from the notification center. Is this normal behavior? I thought Lollipop did, but I could be mistaken. I either have to swipe the notification off, or click it to open the app to dismiss it.
I noticed the same, found it irritating and I got way to many notifications from all sorts of stuff, App's and OS. Eventually I disabled all notifications. The phone already makes a sound so i don't need any visuals.
I am getting the same issue, any fix/ workaround to get rid of the notifications?
In my case this seems to depend on the application. Whatsapp does this annoying thing, while Gmail and Inbox do not. I think that most apps are not yet updated properly for Marshmallow support.
