Grouping SMS - Mogul, XV6800 General

I have a Sprint Mogul (HTC 6800) and hear it was possible to now group the text messages with th ROM update.
I have searched but find nothing to support that claim, can anyone help me? That is one thing I do like about the Treo.
Or if there is a CAB then I am open to try it.
Thank you,

Try searching for Cody's Threaded Text, hell any threaded text for the mogul should work.

windows mobile 6.1 has a built in threaded SMS, but youll have to use a custom rom like DCD's, the OEM roms still use 6.0

From what I understand the Mogul now comes with 6.1 pre-installed if you buy a new one from Sprint. They should upgrade the ROM on yours for you if you go to a Sprint store that has a tech service department.
Otherwise, you'll have to look into a 3rd party application to do threaded SMS. I've been using SMS-Chat from VITO Technologies for a while now and I like it, though it does have a couple of glaring issues even with the latest 1.1 update. I have yet to try any other SMS apps tho.

You sir are wrong the only wm6.1 out for the mogul is a leaked official version the official version isnt coming out sprint wont but a non official version on your phone and Dcd's roms use a higher build of 6.1 than the leaked version.

as choco mentioned the sprint 6.1 rom is a leaked test rom, not an oficial release
also, theres no need to go to a sprint store, rom updates are downloadable from HTC's website

SMS like on a Treo 650?

I'm new to the whole WM on a phone thing but I'm starting to see some major differences that I'm not liking or need to get use to versus my Treo 650 namely the way it handles SMS/MMS.
On my Treo 650 my messages where kept together based on the person's name or number and I can see the whole conversation. On my Wing, each message is just that a separate message much like an email in Outlook.
Are there any programs that will allow me have my in format they are on the Treo or Google Mail? More or less chat style messaging.
Thanks

What you're looking for exists and works well.
Extracted (not by me!) from Treo 750 ROM, the messaging threader has some issue 'cos of it has been made for touchscreen device not for smartphones. By the way it does its job.
If you want this, let me know and I'll tell how to workaround the "little" problems you'll have using that.
PS: You can also search in the forum ftp!

Thanks!

completely agree, think a lot of people would
I believe this has been discussed and it is too integrated into the ROM to be extracted.

it works like the threaded SMS from PocketCM.
Beautiful and easy.

This is palm threaded sms. I tried vitos today but I don't like the design
6.1 SMS on 6.0 would be nice.
I suggest using the PALM threaded SMS app..

I have to ask the obvious, Why not just upgrade from 6.0 to 6.1? It is much more stable, for me at least, than 6.0.
No offense intended. To each his/her own.

Because some of us can't upgrade to 6.1 there is no 6.1 for my phone at the moment, for example.
I have a TOUCH CRUISE
- VITO SMS, doesnt work with the Touch Keyboard, the keyboard only rights numbers.
- When using the PALM THREAD SMS keyboard, the keyboard stays over the text of the message, wich is really bad to use
- There is no 6.1 for the TOUCH CRUISE right ?
Any other ideas

VITO SMS-Chat vs Threaded SMS WM 6.1
Hi
Now that Vito has a promotion to celebrate their 7th year anniversary (SMS Chat at US$7 only), I was tempted to get it. But since WM 6.1 is coming soon... I was also wondering whether it's worth the money.
Has anyone tried both and can he/she shared the differences/similarities? What's the benefit (if any) of getting SMS-Chat?

I haven't tried other options except the Dutty 6.1 release and after experiencing the problems I had I had to revert to OEM. I installed SMS-Chat and for $7 I think its great. I am still on trial but plan to purchase. So far it has worked without issues for me. Threaded SMS nice layout. I suggest trying it before buying and make a judgement for yourself.
Hi
Thanks for the feedback. Personally, I would like to have it integrated into the default SMS application, so that it won't take up extra ROM and RAM.
But like you said, maybe I will give it a try. Before that, can you tell me whether SMS Chat is an application that needs to be launched all the time in order to access it or will it operate in the background, taking over the default Inbox, until you deactivate it?

It works in the background. I did a soft reset of my device to test it without previously launching the application and I had my wife send me a text and it automatically came through sms-chat. I like this apart from other modifications because I don't have to mess with the registry. I have full control by uninstalling it if I ever don't want the application. If you do try it let us know your thoughts.
I'm not sure whether I want to pay for something which will be made available to us free of charge eventually when WM 6.1 is out. That's why I am still contemplating about it.

Help with Skype 2.2 - Released 31, July 2008

I did a quick search and couldn't find anything specifically on this topic.
I just tried this install and it went smoothly with no problems. I am able to see all of my contacts, I can call my contacts and they can call me, however, I can't seem to get any audio - they can't hear me and I can't hear them.
Is this similar to the problems with the previous versions? This version specifically says it is compatible with Windows Mobile 6.1 (I have DCD's latest ROM)...
skypes been broken in wm6.1 for a while, it seems that this one didnt fix it. has someone with a 6.1 stock rom tried the new skype? skype doesnt care about dcd roms. they only make sure that their software works with official roms. it might be an issue with them not supporting the titan, at least if it doesnt work in the stock rom than thats what it is

with previous versions of skype on wm6.1 would freeze; I think I noticed the problem after I upgraded my radio to enable gps. On the htc touch (cdma) with the new version (2.2.0.45), I'm having the same problem. Skype opens and loads just fine, but no audio. I've posted about this problem on the skype forum of the skype website, but no reply yet.
yup, seems to be the same problem with fring too except I can actually hear stuff with the fring.
With skype, I get sound on the speakerphone with the new version, but I only get the first ring and the hangup sound, thats it.
Good thing for skype to go! I have a unlimited calls to 5 favorite numbers so I can use that meanwhile.
The best thing possible tho would be to have AGEphone mobile with the fix for the Titan\Mogul (they have a fix for the HTC trinity, Hermes, Touch (Dual) and Kaiser)

What HTC messanger version is this?

Does anyone know what version of the HTC messanger is and where I could possibly find a cab file to install it? it's partially installed in the energy rom but when you click all messages it goes back to the default WM one which I don't like, if found the cab for the version that's stock on the HD2 which is of course extremely laggy, this version however is not laggy while keeping the hole contacts linking thing of the HTC messanger.
is there not an update on htc's website?
I wonder about this as well...

That's Manilla messaging that is part of the Sense UI. It's not a fully integrated messaging as you will find in Sense 2.5 roms. NRG removes HTC messaging from his roms but that portion of it can still be accessed when using messages from Sense home screen. It's the same thing with Sense 2.1 for TP2 & earlier devices.
There are full HTC messaging .cabs available in the apps & themes forum, look for the HTC Messaging 2014 thread, but it's not going to look like that.

new HTC messenger for Tilt 2 / TP2??

So, is this available for tilt 2?? Will it run without breaking it?

on xda-developers forum because i'm a new member and I can't post links!
Thanks
Eh not sure but I say if the current native WM SMS client works, then why fix what's not broken?
I love the speed and simplicity of it ;p.
Well, my primary problem with the primary messenging software is that it is sooooo slow! It takes forever to open a conversation, and then the softkeyboard opens, closes, then opens again. so annoying.
ideas?
what are the specifications of the rom you are using?
is it using manila 2.5?
just tried it, hard resetting, I would say stay away from it
Thanks supernova, I think you saved a lot of us a lot of trouble lol!!!

:-D no problem I was hopping it would work too, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=617142 that rom has virsion 1.5 built into it, it works grate.
What is the difference between HTC messenger and default WinMo messenger? Because my Tilt 2 has the HTC keyboard and stuff, idk if it has messenger though.
In your opinion, is it worth the ROM flash?? I've never done it before, and there's plenty of info to do it so that's nto a problem, but just wondering!
Regards
Smith
In my opinion it is well worth it, this is actually the 1st rom I have flashed that used this messenger and I like it a lot, my fav part is it actually closes and opens when you want it to insted of clicking it and waiting plus for some reason I perfer Windows 6.5.5 to the 6.5.3.
Your sig says you're using Cell Pro 8.1, but I only see up to version 1.3 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=617142&highlight=cell+pro
Where did you get your ROM from?
Thanks
Smith
I am using fring...
Difference between hTC messenger and Windows
Windows Messenger uses iFrames (slow)
htc messenger looks like it uses program windows instead, but it does have problems reading from the Messaging database last time i checked(send a message and wont see it on screen for a little) but the Windows mobile messenger does sometimes freeze when its loading from the messaging database, and the program becomes unstable and wont open again without a softreset.
htc messenger looks like it belongs with sense, and Windows messaging looks like Windows messaging (outlook) blech..
htc messenger consumes a little more RAM and is believed to cause some lag problems, but Windows messenger isnt believed to exhibit either.
Im gonna install the new Htc messenger now and give it a go and ill repost here. Im using energyrom GTX

Awesome
I'm pretty excited to flash to a different ROM, because I just had to do a hard reset today lol so maybe a custom ROM will be more stable
yea they usualy are more stable, 3 thinks you should test as soon as you flash lol 1: make sure you can send MMS. 2: Make sure you can recive MMS 3: make sure the data connection works.
nothing quite like getting everything set up and loaded only to figure out the MMS dosent work and you cant figure out why lol
Just updated to Cell Pro 1.2 ... INCREDIBLE!!!
SO much faster than stock, way more features, easier to use, and a lot less crap!
You guys rule haha thanks!
Regards
Smith
I have to say the htc messaging 1.8 (build 2015 and 2016 depending on what your rom needs) runs way way better then the old version. No more lag, pictures actually have a thumbnail preview in the messaging window, secure box... just awesome
Well I'm running Cell Pro 1.2 so idk if it'll take the new one??

Find out if the rom is using a 2015 or 1016 manila build. If so then yes you can use the new one.
Ok, my ROM is using manila v 2.5.20122227, so I cannot use the new messenger?
From the sounds of it, it would be a great thing to have, so if I cannot use the new messenger, how could I change my version of manila to be compatible?
Thanks
Smith
