Has anyone got the GPS to work on a verizon vogue? I am running OMJs oem verizon rom with gps and rev a enabled. (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=25335) i have turned location on and still can not got a pretty blue dot in google maps. i have searched all over multiple forums and found nothing. for many people with sprint they run ppst.exe and all is well but i have read this can brick the phone for verizon users. so does anyone know how to get it to work?
You could try GPSToday and activate the GPS with that. That's what I use, works great!
GPS on Verizon Vogue
I use the gps with the same rom you are using and it works great. I generall use Livesearch for my gps app, and before I launch it I will always open GPSViewer and let it sit on my dash of my car for 5 minutes tops before I get on the road. Once GPSViewer locks onto a few sats, I am good to go.
Exact ROM I'm using and it works great!! I was suprised how well LiveSearch was with directions, it would automatically re-route if you went off course, it was sweet!!!
Anyhow, it took me about 3 days to finally get a lock on to the sats. Main reason was I tried from indoors, but I was near the window on a clear sky. Then sure enough, I walked outside, stood in my office parking lot and picked up 6 sats!!
If you haven't already try outside, and be patient!! I believe once you get the initial feed from the sats, you'll be good from then on out. There was a reg change that may help.
HKLM>Software>HTC>SUPL AGPS>GPS Mode
Try changing from 2 to either 1 or 4, some had better luck that way.
actually i figured it out a few days ago and will post what i found for others you need to change the messaging settings....
And for Pic/Vid Messaging
Start>Messaging>Pics/Video>Menu>Pics/Video Configuration>Servers Tab
Edit Default
Server Name: Verizon Wireless
Gateway: Nothing Goes Here
Port Number: 80
Server Address: Http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms
Sending Size Limitation: 500K
Wap: 2.0
in the servers tab all I c is verizon wireless and can't edit anything ..

It worked great, pickup sat less then 20 seconds outside 11 sats.

+1 on this fix! It used to take at least 5 minutes outside on a clear day to get a signal, at first, then about a min after that. With this fix, I got a lock in about 7 seconds inside my office! Not to mention, that sitting in my house, downtown, picks up in about 15 seconds! It worked so well, my GPS picked up that I moved from my dining room to my kitchen, all of 10 feet!

Until Verizon releases a GPS enable ROM update you cannot enable GPS on your stock Verizon Touch. But you can enable GPS by upgrading with a Sprint, Altell, or Bell ROM. Here is a tutorial that's a little dated but it's a good place to start.
Basically you have to upgrade the radio with a Sprint, Altell, or Bell ROM to get GPS. Then you have to flash a ROM that will work on your Verizon Touch. There are a bunch of them available. Of course, once you start there is no going back because there is no stock Verizon ROM available.
TY for your response and i have read the tutorial but again struck fear in my peanut sized brain. I called Verizon support and did get one of the rep's to admit that they are working on a new "GPS enabled Official ROM" and are expecting it to be released before the end of the year. Think I will wait till its out.

When a company like VZW gives you a release date, don't believe it! They were due to release the Blackberry Storm, the first touch screen blackberry, and for reasons I forget, decided to hold it for an extra three months!
I figured this much before I first flashed, there are tons of users changing their ROM, I've changed mine probably 15 times in the past two months. Not to mention, once you use the AGPS hack, you'll pickup a sat lock in seconds, even while inside. I couldn't wait any longer, VZW is far too slow and behind other carriers.
gps
I doubt vzw will give us our gps on our stock rom. they want to sell their gps subscription. they will only provide it on a future phone when everyone has it as a stock function. ie the massess
gps is not that important for me so i am sticking with stock rom for now. their are rom(s) with instructions for releasing your gps but you will have to unlock your phone. it sounds easy but from what i read you have to take care to follow instructions. read here and on ppcgeeks search for vx6900 gps and you will get what you need.

Me too. And I fix computers for a living! The available tutorials had me terrified that I was going to have to buy a new Touch at full price OR get arrested by the Verizon secret police.
The prudent thing to do is to wait for Verizon to release any ROM update even without GPS. Then you have a safe fallback if you wreck your phone with custom upgrades.
Personally though I couldn't wait, and I'm glad I didn't wait because now I'm really enjoying the full use of my Touch as it was designed... fast Internet, GPS maps, and better call quality.
Despite the terror-inspiring tutorials the only really dicey part of the process is upgrading the radio to another carrier (Sprint, Alltel, or Bell). Unlocking the phone (which is only done once) and flashing custom ROMS (which you'll probably do lots of times) is child's play. Focus on the process of upgrading the radio until you're comfortable with it and you'll be fine.
Ok so where do i start, unlock, flash, or upgrade radio...still not sure about this, i can't afford to be without a phone with my work. would still prefer someone in my area to show me in person and still willing to pay...

Try my rom. I have VZW and GPS works. I just released v3 and GPS works really fast without the AGPS fix . Im not sure if its the new build or what. Here's a link to my thread. CRiSTAL ROM v3
No GPS
I'm not sure what I have done wrong ... I have the 3.42 radio and installed the OMJ Rom (even tried the one from Crystal) but still no GPS. I had previously flashed the unofficial VZW ROM and with the GPS adapter found on another post the GPS worked beautifully.
I've tried standing outside to see if that is the problem but am still lost.
Any ideas?
Also ... I tried the aGPS VZW Fix but still nothing

It's in Spanish but basically that's the problem. It started an hour before I'd land in my home country Argentina. I traveled from San Francisco, CA to Houston, TX. No problems. I traveled from Houston, TX to Buenos Aires, ARG and no problems until an hour before landing. To clarify, yes, I was already in Argentinian airspace and we were starting initial descent.
For some reason, this pop-up shows EVERY TIME I turn on my cellphone. I've used it millions of times (the GPS). I've even turned it on while in-flight and caused no trouble.
It's a almost new cellphone! I bought it Brand New and received it in Feb 14th. No harms, no signs of wear nor problems with the software... It's starting to bug me because even when I have my location turned off, it still shows the pop-up and my screen won't turn off until I hit the sleep button or press the "Accept" button!
I had this with Cloudy G3 2.2. Flashed CM 12 instead and no more issues. I tried multiple things to get it to stop and nothing worked.

I am on stock 4.4.2 because as far as I know, most of the CM 12 come with bugs (which I found some of them that can affect me with my G2 experience). Do you know any Custom ROM that so far its bugs are minor or none recognizable?

Depends on your use. I haven't had too many issues with CM12. The only major complaint that I've seen with it is VOIP issues.

I just tried what you said. Nothing happens, still the same popup
Cleaning app cache or data will only work for the next boot. And once that this error occurs right after the boot, the screen remains on until you unlock the phone and dismiss the error message. So, it's upsetting because LG OEM keyboard sucks and google keyboard is the best for me. (Tried others too. Nopes...).

Now that motorola dropped the bomb and even the update page it's public, I want to know how you guys feel with the update, please don't ask for off topic matters, like unrooting or going back to stock.
What do you think of lollipop?
What do you think about motorola?
Are you getting better battery life?
For me I had better battery on lollipop than kitkat
Did you get the update to 5.1 on your turbo as well? How is the camera shutter speed after the update?
Can one of you who has the update please extract the system.img so we can get to work on trying to create a rooted build? This is being requested by http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3147455
If you don't know how to do so I'm sure Computerfreek can assist. Some of us are unable (such as myself) to take the update so please help. That is what this community is all about.

Pm'd you the link from root junky with the ota. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post it here so I'll just keep the mess in pm.
No big reason to hate it much at all. Loving the pull-down menu! Too much white, though.

I updated with the rootjunky soak after checking its md5. Had the phone plugged in for the duration and let it update as I was going to bed. Woke up to a fully functional Lollipop, and haven't had any of the issues others are mentioning. Never rooted.
I didn't remember they stopped letting you change mobile data on/off automatically. I have horrible reception at work and like to turn off mobile data to save battery, and now I'll have to remember to manually change it. Luckily it's only four steps -_- (two-finger swipe down to get to quick settings, click on the cell icon, click the toggle on the top right, accept the confirmation dialog box). Three steps to turn it on - there's no confirmation.
Similar issue with location services: if you turn it off/on through the quick settings, it automatically changes it to High Accuracy instead of the previous setting (like Battery Saving). Luckily, Google changed the way locations are handled last year and this shouldn't be as big of an impact on battery as it had been previously.
The volume modes are going to be a headache to explain to my parents who also have Turbos. Glad I updated before they do...

We have to wait for Verizon or Moto release the full firmware and then you can patch it, I'm waiting for that too, for the firmware list
I absolutely love the new 5.1 Lolipop. Seems much smoother, faster, better overall appearance. Can't wait to really dig into this and see how the battery life is compared to stock 4.4.4
Overall: huge fan and love it!!
I've been very happy with 5.1 on the Turbo. Honestly, the Turbo seems to run 5.1 much better than my Nexus 9. I haven't had any major problems. I did, however, run into one odd issue that might just be a coincidence. I noticed after updating that I wasn't able to connect to my Verizon Network Extender, even though I still had Advanced Calling disabled (if Advanced Calling is on, and you have an LTE connection, you'll use that over a Network Extender). The Network Extender worked fine with other VZW devices. This went on for about a day, and then it magically started working again.
Forgive me if I over looked it, but I noticed now when I turn my phone volume down to silence it it just goes on vibrate rather than just silent with no vibrate. Did that feature disappear? I hate to be picky but I like to have it on silent while at work and I can't stand having it on vibrate.

I took the OTA, did a factory reset, and set it up as a new phone; not restoring any backups. It's installing lots of app updates right now, so I haven't done much with it, but I haven't noticed any new bugs. Unfortunately, Lollipop hasn't fixed the wi-fi bug where my phone continually disconnects and reconnects to my wi-fi. It may just be a problem with certain routers (mine is a Belkin N750 DB), but I've got the latest available firmware on my router, too, and everything else works fine with it. I think it's time to see if I can get a warranty replacement.
I'm liking the karate chop light feature!

I had that router for 7 or 8 years. towards the 6 year mark - it started dropping all my devices randomly so I bought a Cisco AC router and nothing has dropped off once unless I rebooted it or someone "accidently" unplugs it. In my case it was my router that was dropping my client devices off and this was before I bought my DT.

The update fixed the main problem I had with the phone. I play music from my phone to my car's system (Ford Sync) through bluetooth, and it used to not be able to start playback again after returning to my car without me having to manually toggle bluetooth off & on to reconnect it. Now it starts up right where it left off without me having to mess with it, like my old HTC phone did.
I haven't had much time to explore the update yet, but so far so good. I did OTA with no factory reset and everything seems fine.

Hello to you all !
I have an issue I ran into a day ago while using google maps. I wanted to go to a specific unknown for me location so I logically used gps to triangulate my position and point me in the right direction, but unfortunately, I ran into the problem of the compass readings. I think it is off by 180 degrees, meaning it shows me to go forward while it should say go backwards. Is there a way to fix it because I know that we don't have the luxury of the special menu thru the dialer. Running stock android with package disabler pro.

Just needs a simple calibration. I have the edge so I can just simply pull up my compass and calibrate it on the spot with the edge features. Try downloading GPS Status from the app store. It will allow you to calibrate your compass again.
I have the same problem. I have used the same app but the fix doesn't last long. The next day it's messed up again. I was on a trail the other day and it told me I was facing west when i was facing east. God forbid if I was really lost. Every Galaxy phone I've had had this problem. The GS4G GS3 and now the GS7. I guess Samsung will never get it fixed.

I tried that in the middle of the street in the dark on a cat walk one night. then the other way spinning in circles using GPS Status to calibrate it. If anyone saw me they'd be wondering what the heck i was doing. but it never lasts long. by the next day each time it's already out of whack. funny i never had problems with the HTC MyTouch 4G and the HTC One M7.
My compass is messed up too... I tried calibrating using GPS Status app, and still is messed up. Basically, North and south are flip flopped. It's odd. Can't for the life of me figure out how to fix it.
Running Echoe Rom 1.41
I was on a trip and spent several hours trying to fix this off an on, while not trying to look like an idiot waving my phone around constantly like a wand to try to get it to calibrate. GPS Status App seems to fix it for a while and sometimes it works while standing still. But nothing is a permanent fix it seems like.

Not to burst your bubble but i was hoping it would be fixed since the old Samsung S4G from like was it 2012. I don't know why a top competitor to Apple can't make a usable compass. My HTC phones and the iPhone 6+ i had, had a good compass. The main reason i even went to the iPhone was out of frustration of decent Android hardware choices. looks like the choices are still bleak. then you throw in the Note 7 fiasco it doesn't look good for android hardware choices for this year either.
Ooh,so I guess I will have to get used to it .. Btw,a little offtopic but has someone experienced a weird buzzing noise from the earphone (the speaker above the screen used for voice calls) when calling on messenger?

Download GPS status. Reset and re-download in manages Agps state. Then calibrate it again. Mine has been 180° off until I did that.
I tried what you suggested with GPS assist but it did not work. I also tried to flash the back to stock files using Odin but that failed. I guess you can't flash those files if your not rooted. I then used Verizon recovery software but that did not work either. I guess my compass is just broken. I will try calling Verizon to see if I can get a new phone....
If anyone has any other ideas please let me know.
Hi Guys, here are the Download Link for official Lineage OS for m7_u, m7_ul and m7_vzw
have fun regards, and Thanks to the Guys from Lineage.
Edit:
Now there is no official Update for two weeks because they have no Maintainer for the device so they dropped support for our m7. As long as there is no friendly guy who starts maintaining a 4 Year old device it looks bad for official updates. And that propably will make some problems for other Custom Roms or Kernels which are based on LineageOS in the future. But no matter we have great devs here on XDA and out there, they work hard to bring the latest Software to our m7 (SlimRoms, XenonHD, RR, AICP all those still official support the m7). And we have some other great devs here which bring us other unofficial Roms with very good results regarding to Android N.

LTE/4G should work with the GSM Version.
What about issues?
Here is my experience with 14.1.20170130 nightly. I have been using it since yesterday morning and I am astonished by how well it works. LTE, GPS, WiFi... everything works. Since yesterday, I made a few phone calls, used GPS navigation, browsed the web, installed a few apps and even played Ingress (which is kinda resource hungry) for a couple of hours. The system is rock solid (could not say that about CM 13) and even with storage encryption enabled the phone seems to run even faster than with the stock HTC ROM.
Great job! How can I buy you guys at LineageOS a beer?

So, I've been out of the CM game for a while, and I'm a little curious as to how the Lineage OS update revision continues on from CM. I have an HTC One m7 (GSM), and I have CM12.1 installed (Android 5.1.1). So, is it safe to assume that LOS 14 would have been CM14, or Android 7.xx? I'm just trying to get my bearings on the update nomenclature, because I seem to remember that CM13 (Android 6) was not very stable on HTC One m7 (GSM), so I'm nervous to try LOS14.
Thanks!

CM = LOS. No difference at all (expect the name). You can try it as it's really stable. Just remember to full wipe before flashing

Awesome! I'm gonna have to try this out sometime! Are there any problems with calls, like the bug where the microphone is really quiet, and you can't hear the other person? Also, how stable is it, and which is the most stable version, experimental or nightly?

I am satisfied, very stable and good performance. I use it as daily driver.
I started with lineage-14.1-20170131-nightly-m7-signed.zip, and currently I have flashed lineage-14.1-20170207-nightly-m7-signed.zip.
Everything works for me: Phone calls, SMS, GPS, BT, Wi-Fi, WhatsApp, Mail, Camera...
No major bugs observed so far - only one app is crashing compared to stock rom, but did not test everything till now...
Anybody flashed Blinkfeed? I use it, can someone try downloading it please?

Yes, I have flashed sense home 8.51 by ckpv5 with more sense apps like weather, clock camera etc. Everything works fine for now.
Hey there .. I have flashed this rom yesterday, which one would be the supporting thread?
I have a problem with the alarm clock, I cannot set it up it crashes when I try to open it. Same deal with the gboard from openapps.
Any ideas how to solve it? The alarm is pretty damn important!

I had that problem too a while ago. Try to reflash your gapps or flash older version of gapps. If everything fails do a full wipe and flash rom and gapps.
BlueTooth problems
I've been running the 20170207 build for two days now and mostly it is working fine (even felt confident enough to encrypt the phone). Two (or three, depending on how you see it) annoying bugs are there though:
the "portrait" setting doesn't work, the phone remains in "auto orientation" mode
when bluetooth headphones are attached, phone calls won't work anymore (no audio is picked up or output by either the phone or the headphones)
even with BT turned off that problem persists until you remove all BT audio devices and reboot the phone
It'd be lovely to properly report these bugs. Unfortunately, the LineageOS people don't seem to be using GitHub issues?
Not really BT after all...
The real problem seems to be that any outgoing phone call has both microphone and speaker disabled. By hitting the "mute" button twice and the (enabled? why?) speakerphone button thrice, the phone call works then normally. Incoming calls are fine. If anybody from the Lineage OS team reads this, please help, it's a really annoying bug!
Also unfortunately the USB connection gets disconnected immediately after plugging in. In TWRP it works just fine, so it's not a hardware problem.
Hello, I already found some questions about this issue but they were from a year ago so I thought maybe the fix was found and no one talked about it
Recently I came across a problem using Waze and Google Maps, it simply doesn't work as it says that there is "No GPS signal". I tried some apps to test the GPS signal (GPS fix, GPS Status, GPS Test) and I think nothing worked. I also dialed *#*#6484#*#* and tried testing the GPS but it says "GPS failed". When I did this to another friend's phone (also a Xiaomi Mi A1) it failed also but he said that yesterday he used Waze and it did work, so I don't know if his GPS just stopped working today (mine has been broken for maybe a week or 2) or if it's just the place we are in or the GPS is not working for him momentaneously.
When I open up Waze or GMaps they locate me and also all the GPS apps that I tried located me, but then it doesn't go much further than that. I also have a dual SIM, and I am using 4G don't know if that helps.
What more can I do? Can this be a hardware issue? My Xiaomi is not rooted, and I would like to keep it this way but if you think it's the only solution please let me know.
Any updates?
Same here, two devices, both Mi A1's, both stopped working, I was aware of it for 2 days, my friend wasn't even aware. Both fail the GPS test from the service menu, both fail GPS Status app.
I suspect it happened because of the latest software update. We are waiting for the next update.
Did your phone return to normal?

I'm facing the same issue, april update did not fixed this.
I'm thinking about an FR and reflashing the official rom.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiledirection.GPSRepairFix&hl=en_US
Just install this app, open it and fix the gps. You have to be root.
Same here. I think it's a hardware problem. Look behind your Mi A1, in the upper and lower part of the back, there are a couple of antennas. Do they look like stained? I have to change the battery cover and see if it solves the problem.
Mine had this gps issue since android 9 released back in January. After the april update the gps started working again for like two weeks. Now is back again to same no signal issue. Hard to tell if it is a hardware or software issue.

hi, may b u can try this, u have to be rooted on stock or custom rom.
Use any file explorer with root access, locate the file gps.conf (on pie it's at system/vendor/etc)
Download the gps file for your region/country https://github.com/blinksmith/gpsconf
Backup the original file and replace it with the one that u downloaded
Hello everyone, the problem still happens from time to time but I think it became less common so it must be a software issue. I don't have my phone rooted so I didn't try all solutions but for now I have an app that tells me to how many GPS antennas are connected to my phone when opening any app that uses GPS so that I can check out when the GPS is working or not. Thanks everyone for the responses and I'm sorry I didn't tell anything sooner.
same gps problem here, started after update a month ago
it cannot be coincidence that GPS fails for so many users at very similar period of time
may be it is intention, to force us to buy new HW
Downgrade was the only solution to me, running 8.1 without gps problem.

Weird because I have been on that version for a long time (holding off on P upgrade), but my GPS also suddenly stopped working several months ago.
I can see with GPS Test that it has "view" on ten's of satellites, but it rarely (almost never) gets an actual fix.
my GPS was having problem unable to get position locked. It seems to be fixed now but I am not sure what I have done to get it fixed.
The last major thing I did was removing the back case and changed the battery.
During the battery change, I cleaned the aluminum case with alcohol swabs both inside and outside.
Ever since the battery change (2 weeks has passed), GPS position locking has been working well.
I also have the problem with GPS, sometimes it takes 20 Mon to find satellite, then off and on again , then sometimes try to wake up screen and have a couple sec lag, also mobile internet keeps crashing, so need to restart over and over again, the new problem with Bluetooth too, needs restart. Wish I never updated this phone, it worked flawlessly when I bought it

My MiA1 is since September 2017.
I'm using Android 8.1.0 Un-Updated since November 2018, stable, no nightmares.
The H/W test for GPS however says "Failed" but I can see >10 readings/39 quite good and Lat/Long of my location on top of screen which is quite accurate. App GPS Status says same 10+/39 satellites and location error < 10m (actually 6-8m).
You must be using Android 9.x.y. That could be one reason.
Remove MiA1 from any Casing/Cover you might've put on. Need the phone to be Bare.
Hold the Phone by the bottom half. The GPS Receiver is at the Top and back and must be exposed.
Need open space, Trees, Buildings attenuate the signals.
But this is True: MiA1 GPS IS showing Ageing Effect. Satellite Signal strengths are shown as weaker (may be that's why the test says "Failed", it's looking for Stronger Signals)
I had troubles with gps, mi a1, android Q evolution X rom, gps status was "No fix" despite relatively strong satellite signals (GPS test app used for testing). The position got locked in more than 10 minutes in places where other devices coped with it in less than 10 seconds. Same problem on cr.droid android Q. The problem appered in april 2020 (both evoX and cr.droid were fully updated). GPS.conf tuning had no effect. It turned out to be a software issue, fallimg back to 4.1.420 rom version (february 2020 security patch) solved the problem completely.

Hi, same here, with any rom in android 10 with latest firmware (may) GPS takes 15-20 minutes, maybe more, or it doesn't fix at all.
Tried many GPS.CONF in vain.
Go back to lineageOs 16 march version with firmware of february and it works again in few seconds
It's really annoying ...
What now? Are there chances for lasting improvement?
Hi everybody,
I wonder, if there are any chances for lasting improvement.
The tissot MI A1 was choosen, because it is a quite new, modern and cheap lineageos device with good performance.
What would be your advice to do ?
Try to root/su and add another gps.conf
Quit the device and move on?
Remove backside and clean with alcohol?
If you recommend quittung, what would be your recommendation for a not to expensive and not to old lineageos phone?
Kind regards
Tokoloshe
GPS has stopped worked a long time ago on my A1.
After changing the screen a 4th time (clumsy me!), GPS started to work again!
Pretty sure this was due to the fact that the replacement screen I used this time, unlike the three before before, came with new springs integrated in the display frame. I no longer had to use the old (original) ones.
