The current version 1.60 of the ROM includes already a virtual serial port but unfortunately it is a dynamic port, which is not visible to many applications. Also the ActiveSync support is difficult and complicated to use and if you want to synchronize with different computers you have always to couple the device again.
For future releases I plan the following improvements:
Support for Bluetooth headsets
Support for Bluetooth network access points
Send contacts and files through Bluetooth
http://www.angeltowns.com/town/bluetooth/
i am looking also for handsfree bluetooth support if any help on that
Yeah, headset works fine, it's the handsfree profile we need, that's the one adding enhanced features....
Do you know why some headsets work better than others? I understand that the profile does not work and therefore you can not use the functions on the headsets, but I'm curious if your recent fix will help headsets such as the Jabra BT250 communicate better with the device. The HBH-65 has no issues, but Jabra does note, often very slow to connect. I like the Jabra because I can hear better-age you know.

Maybe because of the headsets itself ? I bought a HBH-35 and can do [/quote]anything with it, walk out of range and back, turn it off and on, reset the MDA, chanrge the headset etc etc. without having to re-pair...

What headset-functions do you mean ? Caller ID ? Voicedial etc. ?
That's not in the headsetprofile, that's in the handsfree profile. the headsets with enhanced functions use the handsfreeprofile also, nut just the headsetprofile...
downloaded and installed 1.0.1.2 fantastic my new bt gps works! However I can not use my gps and hbh-65 headset at the same time, any ideas please
Simply stated I was wondering if the new blutooth fix might help the Jabra BT250 work better. I know other headsets work without issue, but Jabra seems to have some problems, and I doubt that this is a Jabra problem, I believe it is a BT Device profile issue.
Can I have another link to the software cause the link is blocked from my ISP, or can any body upload it here or any other palce...
Best regards,,,
I have a new HBH-200, it works ok to answer a call but all the other features are not working, such as caller number etc.
Like i said; It's not i the headsetprofile. The headsetprofile doesn't do much except making a wireless headset possible. Answer, dosconnect and talk and listen, that's all...
Everyting else is in the handsfreeprofile (handsfree is used for advanced options for headsets and carkits)...
Link down????? :?:
not for me
Handfree Profile
I have 2 phones, XDA II and a Nokia 8910i.
My bluetooth Headset is the Ericsson HBH65.
To my surprise, I have paired the HBH65 with both phones and I am able to receive calls from both phones (not at the same time of course) without any problems. Whichever phone rings first get the use of the HBH65. In conflicts however, the Nokia seems to have priority over the XDAII, which is fine with me, but I am so happy that it actually works.
As others are mentioning, I am really missing the enhanced functions of the Handsfree Profile. Can anyone suggest any solution or perhaps work on resolving this issue as a lot of people are waiting for this. I was aware that Towas was planning to release a new version to his BT Stack Fix, has he got anywhere with that by any chance? or anyone else?
Whenever I use my bluetooth headset (Motorola HS850) I can hear the person on the other end just fine but they cannot hear me unless I literally SCREAM. Since that's obviously not a decent workaround I've taken to not using my headset. I miss it and want to use it again.
I've searched the forums and read through this thread completely. I cannot find a single answer that everyone agrees upon.
Can someone please tell me how to increase the volume of the mic of my headset?
I'm runnning Mr Clean's 2.3 ROM (non-UK version).
I have the same problem with all 3 my BT headsets, my bluetrek G2, my i-tech stereo headset and my Sony Ericson BT Car Kit.
What is worse: even when using the the wizard as a normal phone people complain they can't hear me and I also have difficulty in hearing them. I am on the same rom as you.
Without the headset everthing's fine. I hear them, they hear me, no problems at all. Add the headset and the problems begin.

try to increase value of HEADSET_UPLINK_VOLUME registry key. it worked for me.
Thanks, that was the key that looked most promising in the thread I refered to in the OP.
I have in fact already tried changing that from 13 to DD but to no avail. What did you change it to?

Anyone else?
Hard to believe I'm the only one with this issue. Anyone else got a solution I can try?
(in other words: BUMP)
i have the same problem.. i jsut bought a Jabra JX10 after having a Moto BT850 and there's no volume for the BT headset.. highly annoying becuase noone can hear me.. i'm going to try the registry setting for the headset, but instead of DD i'm trying CC which worked wonders for using the regular mic.. we'll see
Hi guys
Did either of you get anywhere with this? My O2 Xda Mini S also has this issue. Geesh you'd think they'd test these things before releasing products!
I've tried setting the following to FF & CC under *all* 4 of the AUDIOGAIN folders:
EARPHONE_UPLINK_VOLUME
HEADSET_UPLINK_VOLUME
RECEIVE_UPLINK_VOLUME
I then rebooted, and things are no different. It's weird though because if you take off the Bluetooth (I use the Jabra BT500) and talk directly into the Mic, it sounds perfect - just not when worn on the ear! I thought my old BT200 was faulty due to this, which is why I wrongly bought a new one  Thanks O2/HTC!
Come on guys, let's get this sorted for everyone. Who knows something and isn't telling?

I wish I did. Sadly I've given up and no longer use my BT headset. I miss it like crazy but like you, reached a dead end. If someone has a solution please, please share.
Looks like nobody is able to help us with this.
Is yours an O2 Xda Mini S?
If so have you reported it to O2 technical as I have?
What Bluetooth(s) have you tried?
I started this thread to identify working Bluetooth headsets, but so far only one reply. Maybe it's a brand-by-brand issue:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=330649#330649
O2 suggested replacing the phone against my wishes (as others have reported the volume issues and reg hacks). I will report back if I still have the problem with the replacement.
have you guys compared roms? I noticed two people were using the same rom? If everyone with this issue is using the same rom, then maybe that could be the underlying issue...? I'm using the Cingular 2.25 rom and never had this problem.
I was using O2 v2.21.4.101
ROM
I'm using Mr. Clean's 2.24a ROM and love it. I downloaded the ROM on the advice of a friend who uses the same ROM and successfully uses a BlueTooth headset so I'm reasonably confident that it's not the ROM.
re help
well I'm using a wizard with the cingular cf2 multi installer. the wizard is an imate kjam and hs850. after reading this thread u might want to try the settings for the mic agc. enable it and see. my problem is when ppl talk its low. I have to press the headset against my ear so I can hear them. as well as them hearing me. so we all in the boat. I will try the enable mic agc and report back.
cheerz
agc?
again
AGC? Anyone? Bueller?
AGC = Microphone Auto Gain Control.
It should be in the Settings under the System tab if your rom has it. Basically this only works with the built-in mic though and not wireless headsets.
No AGC doesn't help, but I suspect this is some issue to do with the level at which the Wizard uses echo cancellation. I think it is expecting a louder voice through the Bluetooth and as it doesn't hear a voice above the correct level, it barely transmits the audio.
I use the Jabra BT500 and if I take it off my ear and talk normally into the mic hole, callers can hear me really really well. It's just in the 'on-ear' position that it doesn't work.
*Update* I have received a replaced Xda Mini S, and tried it with its original v1.x ROM and the new v2.x ROM. Both have the same problem. So, I have tried:
Different Jabra headset
Different Xda Mini S
Different ROM
Changing all the registry settings as per the other thread
...all in different combinations
I therefore suspect it may simply be that the Wizard is incompatible with Jabra bluetooth headsets.

Motorola HS850. I used to have a Motorola phone and a Pa1m0ne Tungsten T3 but decided that I'd rather carry a single device. The HS850 worked wonderfully with the Motorola phone and I really miss having a BT headset.
Greetings,
I have reviewed the Bluetooth vs. AT&T Tilt vs. Microsoft Voice threads, and cannot find a specific answer, so I am going to try to ask a narrow question here ...
... does anyone who has (i) AT&T Tilt with (ii) the AT&T ROMs, (iii) Microsoft Voice, and (iv) a Bluetooth Headset have all 4 working perfectly together? I need to buy a bluetooth headset, and the forums are littered with problems with Voice announcing, or problems answering the phone thru the headset, etc.
That's why I am just hoping to hear from someone who has all 4 of these things ... that work together. Any recommendations for the bluetooth headset are appreciated.
Thanks
My Tilt worked great with the stock ROM, MSVC 1.6.17913 and my BlueAnt Z9 worked flawlessly including announcing calls over BT.
Thank you!
I will look into the BlueAnt Z9. Thank you so very much for responding.
Of course ... if anyone else has the combination of stock tilt/voice/bluetooth, please let me/us know what other adapters might also work.
I did not have any issues with the Motorola H700 and MSVC 1.6.17913 on my Tilt.
H700
Andre - I recall seeing some mention of the H700 on other threads. Can you (please) confirm that you can answer the phone thru the bluetooth, and that call announce works?

I keep my unit on vibrate and ring and this is the way I tested it. I first placed a call using my office phone to my mobile handset in the "vibrate only" and "vibrate and ring" modes. When my mobile handset was on vibrate the notification came through to my headset with audible tones and my mobile vibrated, but no voice announce from MSVC was heard. When I switched the handset to normal vibrate and ring mode (assume this works on ring w/o vibrate as well) MSVC announced the caller through the headset and nothing audible was heard through the handset. I would say this headset is 100% compatible with the Tilt and MSVC.
Bought the Z9
My Z9 arrived today, and it does answer the phone, engage in voice command, etc.
Pretty nifty (but expensive) bluetooth.
Thanks!
Glad you like it. I hope you give us a nice reveiw after you play with it for a while. I am contemplating moving up because I have had this same type of headset for years now HS810, HS820, HS850, and the H700.
I've got AT&T Tilt, Stock ROM, MS Voice Command 1.6.17913 and Samsung WEP200 all working together.
Also, in MS Voice Command, there are options to select the source the phone calls are made from.
Go to "Start" > "Settings" > "Voice Command"
Click. "Notifications" button and the options that come up are...
-Announce notifications using Bluetooth hands free only
-Announce notifications using Bluetooth hands free if available
-Announce notifications through device speaker or wired headset only.
v 1.6 nad jabra
i still cant get it all to work on my tilt like my 8125...8126 was the bomb with vc. tilt is so nice but not with vc
I tried out a plantronics 665 the seemed to work well, but I didn't care that much for the headset. Returned it and got a nxZen nx9000, and it doesn't seem to work with voice command. Not sure why one works and not the other. Anyone care to speculate, or state with authority, why the 2nd headset doesn't work? Thanks.
Anybody knows how Logitech Mobile Pro Headset works with this combo?
Thanks

Is the Jawbone working with all this? I broke my last Jawbone, but would definatele get another, assuming it would work.
My Jawbone works with my Tilt with the stock ROM. Make sure you install VC before you pair your phone with the headset. If you already paired, delete the pairing and re-pair after the install.
Thank you much.
Now I've got another issue, somebody said "BLUEant" and I saw went looking... I like Blue
Trying to decide between the Z9 or another Jawbone. Comparitively they're about the same with the Z9 being the smaller and more "attractive" of the two, and it also costs alot less. Not to mention it's firmware can be update.
But the big plus for me is that it's BT 2.0 BT 2.0 + Firmware upgradeability make it a serious contender in my book. The Jawbone is in it's prime... whereas the Z9 could get better.
Can't decide at the moment...
I also have the Tilt and Jawbone working together but does anyone know if it is possible to issue the voice commands via the headset. I can only talk into the phone to make it dial a name and then the call is directed to the bluetooth headset.
has anyone got this to work all through the headset.
I couldn't imagine it not being possible... I managed to use the Jawbone with the RAZR V3 in or to use voice dialing and it worked decently.
Jawbone and voice dial
Have had a Jawbone paired with my tilt since I bought it. Works perfectly except calls are not announced through the bluetooth, but important e-mail subjects are read through the headset when they arrive.
The Jawbone is sometimes awkward because it gets loose on your ear/cheek if you move your head alot and then sounds like your talking through a long tube.
Thinking about trying blueant, but haven't heard any glowing reports yet.

There are plenty of fantastic reviews for the BlueAnt Z9. It seems to me to be just the same as when I was researching the Jawbone. You'll either love it, or you'll hate it.
The big plus to me with the BlueAnt is that it's warranty is fantastic (2 years compared to the Jawbone's very specific 1 year warranty), it's BlueTooth 2.0 Stereo (should result in better sound quality as I plan to use my Kaiser as my MP3 player as well), and the big plus for me is that its firmware can be updated. Thanks to the firmware, the Z9's limitations are moreso a limit of it's firmware than it's hardware, whereas the Jawbone is fixed.
With that said, I loved my Jawbone... and I'll still be using my current one while it's still functioning (it's falling apart... Jawbones aren't very well built I'll say that) and comparing it to my Z9 when it gets here.

Hi URPREY - I have the same setup (with the official ATT ROM update 1.62.502.0) working, but instead of announcing the callerid info, I'm hearing "please answer or not at home" through my Blueant Z9 via my Tilt. Any ideas?
I am fairly new to the using the X7500.
Does anyone have any suggestions on which BT headset works best with this unit?
I would really like vibrate and caller ID type of feature since I would like to just leave my X7500 in it's case while I take the phone calls.
I also use Bluetooth headset for listening to music pretty extensively which would be different than a phone BT headset. I would hope that I could use both bluetooth devices with the x7500 at the same time.
Ok...what are your favorite BT phone headsets with vibrate?
Thankyou!
Most people around here have gone with the Jabra BT8010.

It really depends on how much you want to spend on your bluetooth headset. Also how easy are you to be satisfied?
I would recommend the Aliph Jawbone 2 bluetooth headset. It has this "noise assasin" technology where it eliminates outside noise during your calls. So your voice and incoming calls are extra crispy. But this bluetooth ranges from $100+.
Here's a youtube video on it:

Jawbone 2 does not have vibrate. Plus I spent all that money on it and found: (a) not comfortable to wear, (b) poor performance in staying connected, (c) people complained about quality. I'm not sure what it is about me, since others seem to love it. But for me, it was a tremendous waste of money. I moved on to the Sony-Ericsson which has been much better.
Jabra BT8010 did work well for me. But it's just so huge...
Another vibrating option is the BlueAnt V12. Which is a good value for the money. Mine broke and I wish I had just bought a replacement for it.
Final comment -- if you got the dough, look into the Sony-Ericsoon MBW-150 watch which vibrates and displays messages of all kinds. Then you don't need your headset to vibrate.
there is nothing smaller and more confortable than the Jabra BT8010
it's simply the best headset for any device
I appreciate the suggestions...sounds like Jabra BT8010 would be one to check out. I currently have a Motorola HS850 but people are telling me they hear an echo and it is driving them crazy.
Another question.....I am having issue with music playing thru BT headset receiver which is separate from my phone headset when my phone headset is also active with the HTC 7500 (waiting for a call). The music starts dropping some and becomes inconsistent. Thus, 2 bluetooth devices are active at the same time even though really...it is only the music BT player that is being used. Seems like my best bet is to leave BT phone headset off until I get a call and then turn it on. Anyone have any advice for me if 2 BT headsets active is a problem for music or other recommendations on how to handle this situation. Thanks!
Have you tried upgrading your radio ROM? I had awful bluetooth issues (crackling on my end and the other end) until I upgraded from 1.47 to 1.57. I'm now on 1.58 because it has a major data speed boost but I'm getting occasional blips on my end again. People on the other end don't hear anything, so with the speed improvement I'm sticking with it. You might try upgrading - maybe first to 1.57.
How can I tell what version my Radio ROM is? Then what is the best way to get the software to upgrade? I would like to learn how to do this.
Also, do I need to upgrade A2DP on my device?
When you first boot its one of the numbers on the lower right. I think its the middle number.
Or you can go into Start>Settings>System>Device Information
First you need to fully unlock your Athena. There are several threads on this here, one of them has the software. Then you need to find the thread with either the 1.57 or 1.58 radio. If you are often in a 3G area I recommend the 1.58 radio, you will get much faster Internet connections. Otherwise I feel 1.57 is more stable for bluetooth. Note that when you unlock and again when you upgrade the radio it will do a hard reset, so copy down any settings and back up any files before you do it, and wait to restore everything after you upgrade the radio ROM.
It would be a good time to try one of the many OS ROMS around here, if you are interested.
I tried to use Nokia BH=503 Bluetooth headset with GTAB and it works fine, but I cannot answer calls on skype/nimbus
I have to answer on the tablet, and then switch to headset.
Is there any way to answer a call from any SIP application from a Bluetooth headset ?
I have tried some BT headset, and I encountered the same problem. Skype cannot work with them. However, I tried Nokia BH905 BT headphone, it works for both phone and Skype. So, I think the issue doesn't lies on the Skype apps, rather, I think it is the compatibility of the BT headset/headphone.
Nokia used to be notorious for not adhering to bluetooth "standards" with their devices, this is potentially still the case with some of their units. They'd work fine with Nokia phones but often with minor caveats with other brands, so different models might have different "issues".
Actually my Jabra bt530 easily pairs on Sipdroid, no luck on Skype thou
Skype is not using a bluetooth headset profile, just A2DP so you will get sound, but the microphone will still be the one on the Tab.

Dave

Hi Dave, I used the voice test on Skype (away from the tab), it works. When I leave my tab on my bed and I was having conversation with my headphone in the toilet, it works. Do I need to say more.
I too suspect that no BT headphone can work with Skype, but it happens, I am happy.

I believe that there are some headsets out there that can supply a mic input over A2DP, but most cannot it would seem. I only say this because I've heard anecdotal stories of some users being able to use a BT headset with Skype, but the vast majority cannot.
The general difference seems to be using a stereo headset, though I don't have a stereo headset which has a mic so I can't check.
Regards,
Dave
Yes, as mentioned, I tried Motorola, no way. Maybe it is because the model can support both mono Headset and Hands Free profiles and stereo A2DP and AVRCP. Or maybe it has a dual microphone for making voice calls ??????
There is a new model, BH-905i, I think if you guys love music and travel quite a bit, I think this is a good headphone to consider. Battery life is superb as well. I used it to play games too, and it has amazing sound without actually disturbing your neighbours.
